Subtitles & other text not displaying properly safari & firefox

Hello
some text in Safari and Firefox is seriously degraded. I changed to Firefox because Safari was displaying wrongly, but Firefox has the same problem. See image:
I cannot use subtitles on BBC streamed movies either, and the timing of the movies on the bottom ribbon do not display either
I am using Lion 10.7.5
Is there a solution for this problem?

The tags at the bottom of my original message are out of date:

  • Animation not displaying properly in Firefox

    My animation not displaying properly in Firefox. I have searched this forum and others but am only able to find outdated solutions (such as updating to the latest release of Animate). I am on the most current versions of Animate and Firefox and still having problems. Does anyone know of a solution to this, or can direct me to a discussion that already covers it?
    An interesting thing to note is that only the center tree is acting differently, though the commands for each seem to be the same. Also the small mountains are fine, but not Mt Rainier.
    Here is my test page:

    Thanks!

    In case anyone else runs into this issue, I was able to resolve it by rebuilding those portions of the animation.

  • TDF not displaying properly in Firefox 4

    Hi, just an FYI to the TDF team...the web version is not displaying properly in Firefox 4.0.1. The main browser window (for lack of a better description) is slightly off-set maybe 10 - 15 pixels down and to the right. Because of this it covers up some of the TDF navigation tabs.

    In case anyone else runs into this issue, I was able to resolve it by rebuilding those portions of the animation.

  • CSS not displaying properly in Firefox

    My new CSS layout looks beautiful in IE7 (weird), however, it
    is not rendering properly in Firefox. I always do research before
    posting here, but I'm completely helpless now. I'm very new to CSS,
    this is my first page I've layed on using this language. Pretty
    much none of the top margins are working, and my faux column image
    isn't displaying. I'll attach the HTML and the CSS and see if
    someone can point out what is wrong with Firefox.

    I'm seeing problems in FF3, Safari 3.1, and IE6. Flash code
    and missing alt
    tags on images won't hurt you, but some of the other
    validation errors could
    be effecting your layout.

    In addition, you've got problems with those png images and
    alpha-transparency. They do not render well in IE6 without
    some sort of png
    fix JavaScript. Given that many people still use IE6, you
    might want to
    switch to jpgs for backgrounds.

  • Upgrade to ver 1.6 pages not displayed properly in Firefox

    Hi,
    I upgraded HTML DB to Ver. 1.6 today. The installation was okay, did not raise any errors, but when I use Firefox to log on to HTML DB, the pages are not displayed properly. IE is able to resolve the pages correctly.
    Do I need to get a plug-in for Firefox? Ver. 1.5 was working perfectly with Firefox.
    TIA

    My design view won't display properly in Mozilla or IE. The images show. The CSS (core and flow) are found according to the access logs. But it doesn't display nicely at all. This was an upgrade from 1.5 to 1.6. 1.5 looked fine. My old applications from 1.5 display properly.

    website is www.empireembroidery.co.uk
    does not display properly when viewed on 32bit windows 7 platform in firefox.

    You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
    Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
    *Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
    Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
    *Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
    "Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
    *Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Why Is Dreamweaver CS4 Tooltips Not Displaying Properly in Firefox?

    Hello,
    I used tooltips to provide answers to questions on my "Frequently Asked Questions" page (there are 19 questions).
    In IE, the pop up displays in the default setting as each question is moused over.
    However, in Firefox, the pop up window stays at the top of the screen.  So by time you mouse over question 5, the top half of the pop up is at the top of the page and cannot been seen.  As you go further down the page, the pop up cannot be seen at all because it stays at the top of the page.
    I would really appreciate any advice on how to make the tooltips display properly in Firefox.   Thanks,  Theresa

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
                       Do I need to publish the site before these kind of problems can be resolved?
    It's usually the quickest way to get an accurate answer.
    You're describing page behaviour which doesn't have an obvious cause since it depends on your code syntax and structure. If we can see what's going on, we can probably isolate the issue.

  • Wordpress theme not displaying properly in Firefox, but shows well in Safari and Chrome

    Hi!
    I have a Wordpress site that i'm using a custom theme with. Starting yesterday, my website's layout is shifted around and very distorted when viewing in Firefox, but it's perfectly fine in Chrome and Safari.
    I tried deactivating the plugins, didn't help. I checked the site in multiple computers, same issue on all of them.
    When checking on Windows PC, only Chrome displays the site properly, both firefox and IE are giving the "Exploit Black Hole" warning. I checked the site with URLVoid and VirusTotal, it came up clean.
    Here's the link: http://selektorstyle.com
    At this moment, i have no idea what to do, so any help is much appreciated!
    Thank you.

    Seems to be working fine here on Linux.
    Can you attach a screenshot?
    *http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screenshot
    Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed the maximum file size (1 MB).
    If you have increased the minimum font size then try the default setting "none" as a high value can cause issues.
    *Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
    *Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
    If you are not on Windows then instead of "Tools > Options" use:
    *Linux: "Edit > Preferences"
    *Mac: "Firefox > Preferences"
    *Windows: "Firefox > Options" or "Tools > Options"
    <i>Press F10 if the menu bar is hidden on Windows and Linux</i>
    Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer(s).<br />
    You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br />
    Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.<br /><br />

  • Facebook Apps do not display properly in Firefox

    Certain Facebook apps don't properly display in Firefox.

  • Facebook and other websites not loading properly in Firefox (Solution)

    This is for anyone who has had issues loading Facebook, eBay, twitter or any other site which shows plain text pushed to the left hand-side of the screen and fails to load images.
    This issue had me stumped for about 3 hours. No matter what I did. No matter what I disabled. The problem remained. I cleared my cache, reset cookies, disabled addons, reset Firefox to default settings and kicked my pc a few times for good measure.
    The problem was fairly simple and at my end, this is not a problem with firefox. SSL certification for facebook was being deemed invalid and therefore the site failed to load properly. Now because Firefox doesn't deal with SSL certificate failures, there had to be something else going on in another program. I then realised that Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 was the problem. If a website failed SSL certification for any reason Kaspersky Blocks access to the site which was causing the page to not load properly. You have to disable Kaspersky's SSL certifcation checks to be able to run the websites properly. You need to load your Kaspersky main menu and click Settings once there go to the tab that looks like a cardboard box (Object Detection Settings and Exclusion Rules) then when you can see a list of different options select Network and you should see Monitored Ports and Encrypted Connections Scan, disabled the encrypted connections then reload Firefox and try the webpage that wouldn't load. To know that kaspersky is the problem, you will get a dialogue saying you have to add facebook as an exception since it failed SSL Certification and this was the culprit for me atleast.
    I looked at the mozilla support forums and it seemed to me, many people were getting this issue and some issues went completely unresolved and there was no mention about Kaspersky, so I hope this helps.'''bold text'''

    Hi Hindhaughlee, <br />Thanks for the post.
    This may not be the best place to post such a solution but maybe some users will find it. If it turns out to be a major problem with a simple solution maybe we will manage to document it somewhere.
    Are you able to provide more details please:
    * exactly what software and software versions is the problem with ? <br /> You appear to be a Windows 8 user, but presumably the Kaspersky software may be applicable to other Windows versions, which Kaspersky software is this tested with ?
    * What is he exact error message or warning that Kaspersky generates in this situation ?
    * is the problem documented elsewhere, preferably in a public open site, if so maybe you could provide a link
    * can you detail simple but exact detailed Steps To Reproduce that will enable others to test out this problem and solution.
    Cheers

  • Greek Text Not Displaying Properly (Characters being replaced with different ones)

    Hi,
    I am using Adobe Photoshop CS3. I have a spreadsheet of Greek translations. When I copy and paste the text into Photoshop, certain characters are missed out or replaced with an incorrect one. I have tried downloading fonts that support the Greek character set, but still no luck. If I paste this text into any other applications (Word, explorer etc) the text displays properly. I was wandering if there is a setting or anything in photoshop that I need to change? It seems to be an issue with this application only.
    Many thanks,

    Have you tried to set your system language to a European setting, e.g. Ireland or UK? Seems like an issue with incorrect Unicode conversion. Also turn off OpenType features for automated glyph replacement in the menu of the Character palette...

  • Google Map markers text not formated properly in FireFox

    I'm using the Blueprints Ajax Map Viewer component to add a Google Map to one of my pages. This is too cool! It really makes using Google Maps easy.
    However I have a display problem in FireFox. The map has MapMarkers with markup. When you click on a marker the Info Window "balloon" is displayed with the markup text. In IE, the Info Window is nicely wrapped. However, in FireFox, the text is displayed one word per line. So in IE it looks like:
        My Marker
        Description of my marker.But, in FireFox
        My
        Marker
        Description
        of
        my
        marker.Here's an actual example of the "markup."
    <b>Downtown Danville</b><p>Parking. Water. Restroom (in Caboose!). Museum.</p>I suspect it is a style problem, but don't know where to start to troubleshoot. Do I have to dig into the Themes? Any Ideas?
    Cheers

    Thank you for bringing this to the forum. One of our developers suggests replacing all spaces with non-breaking spaces ( ) and provides the following code associated with the component catalog found at http://developers.sun.com/ajax/componentscatalog.jsp:
    public String button1_action() {
    String userLocation = (String)this.selectValue1.getValue();
    if (userLocation != null) {
    GeoPoint userPoint = (GeoPoint)getSessionBean1().getGeoPoints().get(userLocation);
    if (userPoint != null) {
    double latitude = userPoint.getLatitude();
    double longitude = userPoint.getLongitude();
    this.mapViewer1_center.setLatitude(latitude);
    this.mapViewer1_center.setLongitude(longitude);
    renderMapViewer = true;
    String m = formatMarker(userPoint.toString());
    MapMarker marker = new MapMarker(latitude, longitude, m);
    this.mapViewer1.setMarkers( new MapMarker[] {marker} );
    //this.mapViewer1.setInfo(marker);
    } return null;
    private String formatMarker(String text) {
    text = "<b>" + text + "</b>";
    text = "Location shown: <br/>" + text;
    text = text.replaceAll(" ", " ");
    return text;

  • Photos do not display properly in Firefox

    I am having a problem that my photos are "blowing up" when viewed in Foxfire. If I make the photos small enough to not do that in Foxfire, they are really small when viewed in Chrome and IE. I'm using the Weaver II themes in all of these but discovered that even my personal site isn't doing very well either. I've searched online for a fix but haven't been able to find anything that will work. there are only three photos in each row on the actuall gallery pages. I had to make the "Gallery" page photos small enough to fit across on FireFox, which is okay because they are static. The other pages are three across but even at that, they are too large in Firefox to show all three photos across. IE isn't doing a great job either. Here's a link to one of the gallery pages:
    http://gayleweisfield.com/new/?page_id=107
    I have another site where there are only two photos across and the photos blow up even larger and end up running vertical down the page which doesn't allow all the photos and the text to show. That site I can deal with since the photos are static although I would like to know what it is about the theme or Firefox that is causing the problem.

    I think the problem is that the NextGen Gallery plugin is set to use inflexible table cells for layout, rather than letting the images snug up next to one another.
    ''Digression:'' To see how the columns are always as wide as the widest image, you could run a small script to add borders. This isn't strictly necessary, but in case you're curious, you can add a new style rule to the page (locally, just until you reload it) as follows.
    (1) With your page displayed, open Firefox's Web Console by pressing Ctrl+Shift+k
    (2) Next to the caret (">") paste this long line of script code and then press Enter to run it:
    var s=document.createElement("style"); s.type="text/css"; s.appendChild(document.createTextNode("td{border:1px dotted yellow !important;}")); document.body.appendChild(s);
    Okay, back on point. Does the NextGen Gallery plugin let you choose a different layout that has a better chance of fitting in the available space?
    Another option would be to add a horizontal scroll bar, but people generally don't like horizontal scrollbars, so I think that would be a last resort.

  • SWF not displaying properly in FireFox and IE 7 & 8

    I am working on a site that is staging right now.  I have a gallery page that displays a Flash .swf file. It loads properly in all browsers, except only about 1/3 of the viewer shows up on the page in FireFox and IE 7 & 8. It displays perfect in Safari and older versions of IE.  Is anyone familar with this issue? Can someone offer any suggestions?  Thanks in advace.

    What version of Flash? What does the html page that holds the .swf look like? Can you share a URL where this file sits?
