Surcode for Media Encoder CC jumbling and subduing channels

I brought a 5.1 project from CS6 over to CC and the CC surcode totally shuffles the channels and renders the dialogue (mainly on center channel) nearly inaudible and coming from the left.
I created a test project in Premiere with bars and tone where the tone moves in a circle (plus a rumble to test the LFE) in this order:
Left
Center
Right
Right Surround
Left Surround
LFE
Using Mpeg2-DVD to transcode, here is how the channels are mapped on the ac3 file:
Left
Left Surround
Right
(silence)
Center
LFE
So somehow my Center channel is being mapped to Left Surround and vice-versa, while my Right Surround channel is going nowhere.
Any idea what may be the reason for this bizarre situation?

I have done some further experimenting and here is what I found:
First of all, the problem occurs only when using the surcode. In the case of the big CS6 project I was able to use the workaround of creating a 5.1 wav file then creating a new ac3 file from that.
With the reconfiguration of the Premiere audio tracks in CC, it seems that in order to properly transcode a 5.1 sequence with the Dolby Surcode, all audio clips in the sequence MUST be mono. Therefore any stereo source clips must be split into two mono clips and laid in on two tracks.
The dialogue tracks of my large converted projects are all mono, but I am assuming the problem is being caused by the stereo clips in the sequence.
For that existing project, I'm just going to continue using the workaround rather than reconfiguring the entire timeline.

  • User Auth. for Live Streaming with Media Encoder 2.5 and FMSS

    Hi,
i am currently thinking of buying the Flash Media STREAMING
Server (~995 $) and in order to see if this is the right choice, i
also take a look at the Wowza Media Server for comparison.
I want to support Live Streaming from Events with Flash Media
Encoder 2.5 and for this i'll need a user authentification for
giving access to special publishing Users only. Wowza Media Server
supports a User Authentification by parsing the connecting URL,
witch is delivered by the Media Encoder on starting a Connection,
and therefor grants or denies access to the publishing function.
Only Users with the right Access Persmissions, which is written
trough a password and the onPublish Comand in the url, can publish
Live Streams. Everyone can watch the Live Stream, if no restriction
to the onConnect Command was made.
The Problem in this case is, i will need seperate Application
folders for every user who should be able to start a live stream.
This would be a horrible effort...

Is there a similar way to support authorisation for starting
publishing a LiveStream to the Flash Media Streaming Server, or do
i need the Flash Media Interactive Server?
How can i restrict access to users, who should not be able to
start a live stream on my FMSS?
    Thx for your help,

Unfortunately no, there isn't. I struggled with same issue
earlier, and we were forced to purcahse the Interactive edition. As
the 'Streaming' version only runs Adobe-signed apps, there is no
way to change things that happen within the onConnect handler.
Furthermore, guys at Adobe haven't provided any possibility for
even simple access control through configuration files for built-in
apps that come along with the Streaming Server edition.

  • ProRes presets for Media Encoder CC now available for download

    Hi everyone,
We have new ProRes output presets available for Media Encoder CC. You can download the presets here
While the new presets do not add new functionality to Media Encoder, they do provide added convenience. By definition, these presets are for use on Mac OS. If you are on Mac OS X 10.8, or 10.9, the ProRes codecs come installed with your operating system. If you are using Mac OS X 10.7, you will need to install one of the Apple Pro apps (Final Cut Pro, Motion, Compressor, etc.) for the presets to function correctly.
Here’s what’s new with the Media Encoder CC ProRes presets:
Preset names have been updated to say "SD" (instead of “DV")
The Field Order of PAL SD presets changed from "Lower" to "Upper"
Frame Size of NTSC SD presets changed from 720x480 to 720x486. This is based on Apple's ProRes specifications. If 720x480 versions are needed you can create your own User presets with these settings.
Enhanced support for multi-track audio sources. New "Audio Track Layout" and "Channel Layout" sections let you specify the number of exported tracks, track types (single track, dual mono, or stereo pairs), and channel mapping for 5.1 audio
Please note: the ProRes presets should only be installed on AME CC (7.x). They may not work correctly in AME CS6 or earlier versions.
If you have any questions, please let us know.
    Eric

    Hi Eric,
Much appreciated, but I was wondering when we might expect a framerate and resolution independent way of transcoding media?
Sometimes (as in most of the time) I don't really care about changing resolutions or retiming anything, I usually just have a pile of media that I would like to conform to a single codec, independent of framerate or resolution, like at this very moment.
Right now I need to transcode 100+ clips in various flavors of h.264, mp4, and animation codec in order to get this media into Resolve.  I don't want to have to specify different framerates and resolutions, I just want them transcoded to ProRes.
The presets are nice, but the ability to do what I'm needing would greatly reduce the need for presets like these.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks!

  • Media Encoder stops working and I get the goat.

I have downloaded the latest update for Media Encoder CC 2014 8.0.1.48.
All day I have had hit and miss success when encoding. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it will fail and I get the goat sound. I hate the goat sound.
This has only happened since this latest update.... and today to be exact. And it has happened on two different work stations - both with the same software installed.
Has anyone else fielded this issue and if so, what can I do? Everything is the exact same as it was the
    day before this update.
I am an adobe CC Subscriber. I have Premiere, After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop and Encoder installed.
So far I have had failed encodes with Mpeg 2 and H.264.
I do have third party transitions installed, Film Impact 1 and 2, but as mentioned before. They have never caused an issue before.
Please help, I have a very busy football season coming up in less than 3 weeks and I can't have this issue then.
    Thank you,
    Virgil

  • Premiere cc 2014 don't let me export thru media encoder its stop and close the software after few min

premiere cc 2014 don't let me export thru media encoder its stop and close the software after few min

Peferling... I have a positive update! I went to the area that typically made things die. I noticed it was at the tail end of where I inserted a sequence into another sequence. I also noticed I had three tracks in that section with graphics. So I copied all the tracks from the inserted sequence... then removed the inserted sequence and re-inserted the actual tracks. At this point I no longer had an inserted sequence. I then simplified the three tracks of graphics into one. Re-applied my transitions and did last tweaking. I once again tried exporting as H.264 HD... et voila! It worked! Something must have been breaking it.
For now I'm okay and have been able to export into other formats. I want to thank you so much for your input. Regards, Nelson

  • Can't run (Media Encoder or Encore) and Premiere Pro

I finished a sequence, started up Media Encoder, then began editing a new sequence with Premierer.
The result was that after a while, Media Encoder "Not Responding".
I started Media Encoder again and this time I left the room to watch TV.
Media Encoder built the AVI file correctly.
Also Encore died when I tried to use Premiere at the same time.
Is that the rule with CS4 applications?

    Harm
In EN once I click on the Build button to begin building a DVD it will take more than 30 minutes before the DVD comes out.
In the mean time I would like to fire up PR to start editing some other project.
If that is not something I can do then I can use my KVM switch to go to my old PC and produce artwork for the DVD case.
On another topic, I am in the process of making a BluRay DVD with Encore and when I clicked on the Preview button, instead of getting the neat little window that allows me to run a simulation of the DVD menu, I got a huge version of that menu that I could not manuver to get to the controller buttons.

  • New Media Encoder Error: video and/or audio filters are missing...

My colleague reported this error popup window while using Adobe Media Encoder CC (up-to-date):
"video and/or audio filters are missing and the rendered output may not match the original"
I've been seeing similar errors the past few days. I can't remember if the wording was the same in the errors I saw, but the circumstances were the same.
I've never seen this popup error before the most recent CC update.
    Some background info:
I queued up multiple Premiere Pro pproj files as usual from within Premiere
without rebooting or deleting any cache or temp files or anything, I start the queue
I have no special plugins installed in Premiere. Vanilla CC install.
    Windows 7, 64-bit
This error doesn't tell me what audio/video filter(s) are missing. The output files, once I dismiss this warning, are perfect.
The major problem: It stops the queue dead in it's tracks. Sure, it might seem handy to stop and give you a warning, but when it's a false report and there's nothing wrong, it's killing us, because we queue up multiple files for encoding overnight, and we're not here to get the popups.
What is likely causing this? Is it a bug that this is appearing so frequently? Has anyone else experienced this besides my colleague and I?
    Thanks!

Update for anyone experiencing this issue:
We are still investigating the cause of the issue and would really like your help tracking it down. If you run in to it I would be happy to jump on the phone with you and preferably do a screenshare as well. If you want to run some tests for me, this is what may help us track it down:
    0. Please make sure you are updated to the latest version of Premiere Pro and AME, which at this time are Premiere Pro 7.2.1 and AME 7.2.
    1. Simplify the project. Create a copy of the project and eliminate anything in the project that isn't related to the sequence(s) you are exporting. Then run the encode again. If it still occurs, move to the next step. If it doesn't occur any more, repeat step one and only remove half of the unused items (sorry, this is giong to be a manual process). Rinse, repeat.
    2. Open your sequence in Premiere and press Cmd/Ctrl + A to select all clips in your sequence. Right click and select Remove All Effects. Export again. No repro? Go to step 4. If it still repros, go to step 4.
    3. Make all the media offline. Export again. No repro? Go to step 4. Repro? Go to step 5.
    4. Send me a message with as much detail as possible. Even better would be if you could provide me a copy of your project file.
Your help in tracking this issue down is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • Exporting from Premiere Pro.  Takes forever for Media Encoder to start.

When I exported a timeline out of PrePro to the Media Encoder and press "Start Queue" it took it over 19 minutes before it began rendering.  Is this normal?

    Morning all
    Fair point John.
Webshark2000, the orignal poster of this topic, has got Vista 64bit, so he can make use of the more memory.
I understand that memory use for  CS4 is:
    Premiere -  2gigs
    Encore - 2gigs
    Media Encoder - 1 gig
+ Windows and other apps you may have running!
So if you don't have around 5 - 6 gigs ram, Windows will be doing ALOT of paging! Thus slowing the system and render times down.
64Bit and tons of ram -  is the way forward. It rocks with it!
    Hope that helps - Shaun

  • Adobe Media Encoder lost sound and had 128MB file - Why?

    Guys,
Any help would be appreciated. I usually use Adobe Media Encoder to convert my files to flv or f4l - But something happened on the way to the party - The file was an .avi file about 100MB and AME would give me a file of about 128MB with no sound and the conversion took about 11 minutes. Someone on another forum suggested Xilisoft Video Converter I had never used. This thing got the sound right file was 48MB and it was done in ONE MINUTE AND 48 SECONDS...
Obviously I was doing something wrong with Adobe Media Encoder can anyone suggested what I was messing up.
    Cheers,

    Hi,
I do not know exactly the setting to did in the AME, but this problem generally happned when you do not select to export the sound along with the video and do not set a compression for the output video.
    Hope this helps

  • Rendered output from PremierePro CS4 (via Media encoder) is pixelated and posterized

Using Premier Pro -- Recently upgraded to CS4. When exporting sequence to a quicktime movie using the Adobe Media Encoder - all settings are same as (equivalent to) what I used to do in CS3, but the result is pixelated, or posterized. See samples of what I am getting, over here: http://www.tamotion.com/sample/Picture11.png and http://www.tamotion.com/sample/Picture12.png
I am getting the same result on 3 different intel iMacs, all running Leopard 10.5.5, 4GIG RAM (in one case, 3GIG), so the problem is not specific to any one machine. I assume there is a basic setting I may have overlooked.
Anyone have an idea what the problem is?
    Thanks
    Tam

You need to set Bitrate in AME (it's turned off in default, don't know why it's off).
I had this problem too, but with switching on Bitrate and set the correct number - this correct problem with low quality mov's for me.

  • Media encoder cs 6 and cuda  Ge Force gtx 780

    HI
I have a new graphics card   it is the Gigabyte GeForce 780
I have CC and CC 2014  and also CS6    I notice that if encode using AME
I can see Cuda enabled in the encoder window and the option to use software only as well.
I don't see that option in CS6     I have Cuda in project settings in CS6
I am wondering if CS 6 AME uses it in the background or something or not at all?
I am thinking of sticking with CS  6 for a variety of reasons and just wondered if the later versions
were better able to utilize the card?
    Hope that makes sense.
Thanks in advance for any light shed on this

Yes, Premiere Pro CC adds full GPU acceleration certification for the GeForce GTX 680 on Mac.

  • CS4 Media Encoder batch jobs, and .avi ffdhshow

I have two distinct, but slightly related questions to ask.
First I should point out: I've used Premiere and After Effects for creative purposes before, but today I am using Adobe software for a more practical purpose: some engineering research work. Essentially, I have thousands of hours of video to process, I have all the firepower needed to perform it, I am currently limited by the ammount of time I am stuck clicking away at the computer.
Essentially my job right now is to convert and concatonate 1 minute segments into larger cohesive files. I say convert because the supplied files are encoded as .avi with an obscure proprietary surveillance video format (Mavix, for those of you familiar, doubt it though, even a google search won't bring up anything). It's okay, I have the VFW installed and so far I've been doing fine (if not slowly) pre-converting to NTSC DV default with AME CS4 and then importing into VDub (handy because of it's automatic file appending feature) at which point I compress with ffdshow (gave me the best performance considering quality, compression and processing perfromance). Vdub is also handy because I can take better advantage of multi-cores (8 per machine) by running Vdub jobs and AME jobs simultaneously. I am still amazed how mult-tasking on these machines gets me absolutly no performance hits.
Why is it that I am using AME? It seems to be the only thing that can decode these Mavix files (I've tried them all). And only a direct convert through AME... if I open it up in premiere first, then export it, the video glitches.
    Question 1:
Right now, the biggest challenge is batch converting videos. I can drag up to 70-75 videos (regardless of hardware) into AME before it starts rejecting files. I would like for it to pre-process thousands of them at a time automatically. Any ideas how the queue size can be increased or how I can properly batch convert thousands of files at a time? Checking back at a computer every 20 minutes for a week is a real waist of time when I could leave it sit over the weekend in a corner and do it's thing.
    Question 2:
I wanted to reuse the concatenated files that Vdub spat out (.avi ffdshow H.264 -> no comments please, I have a good reason for doing this) for some other work. I just want to know if it is possible to get Premiere to work from these files directly or if I have to reconvert them to somethign else first. So far, importing them yields black video.

    Hi,
I have absolutely no experience with this...but as to question number 2... I did a google search on ---avi ffdshow h264 cs4 ----and found this info
As you probaby know a lot of people using premiere are adament about NOT loading codec packs, and in particular ffdshow and k-lite...but you probably know that or you might not have said " no comments please "....etc.
That said, there is a part of the following stuff that says something about using cs4 with ffdshow with h264 enabled in the video and something enabled in the sound.. and then the reference to K-lite...but that k-lite post was using ( at that point ) a different editor I think...so take this with a grain of salt and maybe check the ffdshow enabled setting so you can see your video in PP...
Good luck  ....and I hope your computer doesnt explode  or anything bad happens...which might mean a total reformat and reinstall etc...

For simple edits, you can use vdub (see above)
If you need a NLE, Vegas Pro 8 will work, if you have ffdshow (h.264 enabled) or x264vfw, but it won't see the audio. So you can open it in vdub and save the audio as wav then import into Vegas
Premiere Pro CS4 will work, but you need ffdshow (h.264 enabled in the video configuration and MSADPCM enabled in the audio configuration)
    Cheers

Hi, I just bought a Creative Vado HD and I have 3 clips I just want to paste together.
I downloaded Virtualdub, downloaded x264vfw, downloaded ffdshow (h.264 enabled) and installed all three. I still can't open any of the Vado HD clips into Virtualdub. I get an error message. Is there another step I am missing?
    Thanks in advance!

do you have this version installed?
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/x264vfw/
if that doesn't work for you , enable h.264 in the ffdshow vfw decoder interface (yellow icon, not red icon), because vdub relies on vfw , not directshow    ( ROBODOG2 NOTE ----GRAPHIC BELONGS HERE.....SEE BELOW )

@poisondeathray - yes that helped! thank you!!!
Now that I am able to "edit" my Creative Vado HD videos in Virtualdub, I notice something very strange. Each video clip is approx 30 seconds long. The total combined/merged clips should be approx 2:30 long. However, windows media player (as well as right clicking for properties) says the video is WAY longer than it should be (like 11 min long)!!!
Anyone else notice this? Is this a virtualdub mistake or human error on my part?

Did you do any editing or just append the clips? If you edited portions did you cut on keyframes?
Did you set "direct stream copy" for video & audio?
What do other media players (e.g. vlc, kmplayer, smplayer) and mediainfo say about the joined clip ?

Has anyone found a solution to this issue yet? I can't believe Creative would release a product like this with almost no 3rd-party support. I really wanted to get this camera, but this is a deal-breaker. I managed to get a few raw files from the Vado HD to test. They work fine just for playing in WMP, but I cannot edit the videos in any program I tried. Adobe Premiere CS4 doesn't work. You see the audio but no video. If you try to do basically anything it crashes. Sony Vegas 9 doesn't work either. Same deal, audio with no video. Same issue in VirtualDub. I have ffdshow installed and H.264 is enabled (libavcodec). Do I have any other options here?

Download and install K-Lite mega codec pack. The ffdshow configuration will be pretty streamlined so you likely won't have to screw around with it after the install.

  • Flash Media Encoder 3.1 and 3.2 / SigmaTel - no sound!

Hi there, I have Dell XPS 420 with SigmaTel on board,
cant get any sound output, both in XP and windows 7 but can hear sound ok through speakers but sound levels not moving and you cant adjust the AudioInputMixerProperties Master Input Mix, all greyed out,
however if I use old PCI sound card it works ok! Had no problems before on old PC, just this one.
    Any help much appreciated!

Hi there and thanks for trying to help, but as mentioned above, you cant adjust the AudioInputMixerProperties Master Input Mix, all greyed out and you only got line out, microphone settings, I have clicked on all of them to no avail, i feel its the buttons on the left in this that need to be changed but you cant click on them or move the sliders, as if theres no sound on board at all...
Now that I have removed the old sound card that I was testing with it has gone back to the original way it was before tried to trouble shoot myself with another sound card and says when loading:
    "No audio capture devices detected
Flash media live encoder requires an audio capture device to be connected and properly installed."
Also, when you tick the Audio box it comes up:
    "No Audio capture devices detected

It just dont seem to recognise my on board sound card, but strangley enough when I put in old sound card you had the option to select it but still no sound from it, shame my other sound card is faulty (only works for about an hour - believe faulty capacitor) as would use that, dont really want to have to buy a new sound card just for this when I have used this many times no problem on old PC with onboard sound. As mentioned, everything else sound wise works ok no problems.
