.swf files not functional in Acrobat X pro
I've started working in flash builder, making some menues and buttons to create enriched pdfs, however when I try to add them to the pdfs I get 1 of 2 outcome, neither is functional. When working with swf files I have created myself, I get an empty loading bar with the error "Error#2032: Stream Error. URL: file://PDFMedia013861/g/framework4.5.1.21328.swf"
Or I get a play button image (a default before flash activation) that takes me directly to a black or transparent window (depending on my background pref.) I have found, the file in the error refers to a file in the same bin folder as the swf file created by my application. Also, when I try to run the swf file outside of the bin folder it does not function, it simply shows white.
I have been through the support channels for Adobe Acrobat X pro to rule out the error being on the Acrobat side, but I am now unsure how to proceed if I can only construct non-functional or machine specific Flash Builder Applications.
If anyone has any insite I would be happy to hear about it, as I am fairly new to the flash development community.
*Update*
I've found that if I revert back to the Flash Builder 3.6 SDK and construct the files with the same basic content the import into Acrobat is successful... Has anyone else had issues with FB 4.5 to Acrobat X compatability?

Flash CS5 SWF File not functioning in Captivate 5
Hi,
I have an Interactive SWF File created in Flash CS5 that has an Intro screen with a button to continue etc and it opens to a presentation with several buttons, and works fine.
I bring the SWF file into Captivate 5. It shows fine in the Slide, but when I test it or publish it, two things happen.
It stops after a second and disappears. I have set it to play for the duration of the animation, but it makes no difference.
If I extend the timeline out to several minutes then it will stay, but although the Start button works, nothing happens, it just sits there.
how do I get the Slide to stop and stay so that the user can take their time interacting with the animation. ( I dont how long someone will spend on the presentation)?
Why doesn't the interactivity actually work?

SWF File not working after upload to server, but works on local system
HELP PLEASE.....I have created a Fla and exported a swf file
from Flash 8 and Export (Flash 6). I can preview the page in
Dreamweaver just fine, but when i upload it and the html file, it
isn't showing up. It leaves a blank spot on the page. It is just a
simple banner with graphic clips and motion tween text, with image
bgd. All images are jpg.
I have tried:
1. Using a full link to the swf file.
2. Removed drop-shodows in swf file
3. convert to Flash mx 2004 file
4. Exported to higher Flash version to see if the flash
player was an issue.
5. Exported with no dashes in name
6. Added Scr file into Dreamweaver
7. Made a new test file to see if it was something in the
current html doc, same result.
8. Tried viewing on a pc, same result. Created on mac.
Here is the test page if anyone wants to take a look.
THANKS FOR ANY ADVISE.
Test
Page LinkThe link you provided is to the SWF file, not to an HTML
file, so no one can test your HTML file.
Have you checked the code for the embedding of the SWF file
in your HTML file? I don't use Dreamweaver much, but I do know that
if you start assembling a Dreamweaver file without first saving the
HTML, embedded graphics and other items are inserted as direct
links to the files on your computer, rather than as relative paths.
There is one other possible issue: I note that your swf is
called CWABanner.swf. Depending on your FTP settings, it is
possible that your server is forcing all file names to lower case
(a common practice). Which means the file on your server will be
cwabanner.swf. Again, depending on how the web server is set up, if
it is case sensitive, it will treat CWABanner and cwabanner as
separate files. So if the HTML calls CWABanner.swf, but the FTP
upload has forced a rename to lower case to cwabanner.swf, the HTML
file will not find it. Check this out, or to be absolutely certain,
rename everything to lower case: the file name itself and the
reference in the HTML file. -

External swf file not using URLRequest
Good morning guys.
You can load an external swf file not using URLRequest? Since embed html code is setted as
I have this problem and I need to load a swf skin
thank youare you loading a swf (done during runtime) or importing one (done during authortime)?
in either case, the allowscriptaccess parameter of the external swf (that your loading or importing) is irrelevant. allowscriptaccess is assigned in the main (loading or importing) swf's embedding html page and is used to control html/js access of the main and loaded swfs.
if you trust the swf you're loading, you can change allowscriptacess to always. if you're importing a swf, none of its actionscript will execute anyway so it doesn't matter whether its trusted or not. -
ProEngineer files are not recognized by Acrobat 9 Pro Ext.
It seems that Acrobat has problems with the numbers at the end of Pro Engineer Files.
When you save a file in Pro E the file get a number at the end which marks the version of the file. So the name of a Pro E file is:
"Filename.prt.1"
save it again in Pro E generates a file named
"Filename.prt.2"
When I open Acrobat and choose "File/Create PDF/From File" and went to a folder with Pro E files, I can't see anything. Under File type there is "All known fileformats" set. I can set it to "Pro/Engineer" but that doesn't change anything.
Only when I delete the number at the end of the ProE file I can choose it in Acrobat.
When I edit an existing pdf-document and want to insert a 3d file from ProE I mark an area with the 3D-Tool and choose a file. In this fact I can see also files with numbers at the end. But when I choose this file and press OK Acrobat tell me that the file is not supported. Only a file with no number at the end works.
Is there a patch the make Acrobat recognizing ProE files with numbers at the end? Or some other help?With the second one the problem was not not to inactivate the object.
When I have two objects on different sites and I want to show it to our customers I will navigate in the first site to a specila view. Then I change to the other site and navigate also to a specila view. Now I will go back to the first site to compare the to objects. But the view has been inactivating. It should be still activated when I scroll across the document when I set the option "Deactivate when = clicking on it and choose deactivate" Because with this option you said that it could only be deactivated when you explicit click on the object and choose deactivate. Thats the way it worked in Acrobat83D.
Thanks for the workaround with "Show toolbar" Now I can set the toolbar to "not shown" Thats excellent at presentation for customers beacuse there the toolbar is distracting.
b Now we have a bug list with four items:
*Open menu that does not recognize some filename extension
*Create object with 3D-Tool creates an error when choose ProE file with version number.
*Setting the option for 3D-object after creating it. (toolbar hide)
*Set the "deactivate when" option to "deactivate only when you click on it and choose deactivate" makes the object deactivating also when you navigate to other sites. It should still be activate. -
Hi,
I've published Adobe Captivate swf files and then inserted them into my RoboHelp project. I then synced my RoboHelp project with our website and the videos within online help are not functioning in IE8 or IE9. They are only working in IE11.
Thanks,
JaimieHi there
When a SWF plays in IE, it uses the Flash Player ActiveX control. I'm not 100% sure that different versions of IE would share the install. So if you have one version of IE on your machine, perhaps it either doesn't even have the control added in or it's the wrong version.
One thing I would check in the browsers where the content seems to be missing is to right-click the blank area and see if you coax a Flash pop similar to below:
Then note the version number.
You may find that all that you (or others) need to do is ensure you have at least a specific version of the player/add-in installed.

.swf files not displaying all of a sudden!
Hi all
currently working on a new website for my design company and
have hit an unexpected - and very annoying - problem!
my portfolio graphics are all vector illustrations - I export
them from there as a .swf file - dump them into dreamweaver - and
away we go. all has been going fine - my portfolio covers 4 pages -
first two have worked fine - the final two simply will not display
when previewed in browser - or uploaded via ftp to a site area.
the graphics have all been created in similar ways - the
export functions for .swf have not been altered in any way at all -
but still not displaying. when i open up flash player to preview
the file - again blank - when i do the same with the first two .swf
files, no issues!!
I have recreated the html files to see if that was the issue
... to no avail.
I also dumped the swfs into the 2 html files that are working
fine - still no luck.
tis driving me mad - any ideas guys??? as i said - they are
just vector logos as with the first two pages so not sure what on
earth is happening!
incase this helps with any ideas....
this page as you can see works fine:
http://www.justsoho.com.au/test_portfolio.html
this one doesn't! :
http://www.justsoho.com.au/test_portfolio_02.html
hoping someone can shed some light on this!
cheers

File Character Limit with Acrobat 9 Pro File Naming
I'm experienceing an issue that I'm sure was not there with previous versions of Acrobat. When printing a Word file with a long name to Acrobat (File->Print -> Adobe PDF) the original file name is being shortened and the end replaces by a series of "..."s.
If I print a document named
"The_Quick_Brown_Fox_Jumps_Over_The_Lazy_Dog_Sleeping_Under_The_Shadey_Tree.doc"
it will be converted to Acrobat as
"The_Quick_Brown_Fox_Jumps_Over_The_Lazy_Dog_Sleeping_Under….pdf"
The original file's name is only 74 characters. I thought that Acrobat could create file names with up to 255 characters?
Is there a setting I can modify to have Acrobat keep the original file's long name?
I'm using Acrobat 9 Pro (part of the CS5 Suite) with Vista64.
Thanks.
RussellSolved: It appears to be a Microsoft Word issue as it doesn't occur with other apps. When using the built-in 'convert to PDF' tool within Word the file name length is respected. It's an older version of Word (Word 2002 SP3). I printed a file using the same name length with Wordperfect and it works fine.
I know this isn't a Word help forum, but if anyone does have a solution to offer it would be appreciated :-)

Typewriter function in Acrobat 9 Pro
I am IT support personnel at al large university. Our users are gradually upgrading to Acrobat 9 Pro from earlier versions. When I do the Adobe Installation I always select "Complete" as the choice of installation type. However, my users are having problems with Typewriter. I understand the typewriter does not default in the on condidion. However, when the user goes to Tools, Typewriter, to enable the Typewriter, the entire selection of typweriter is grayed out. It is grayed out if no documents area selected. It is grayed out on documents that show to be an "unsecured" document. This problem is the same whether the OS is Windows XP, Vista or Seven. The problem is the same for Office 2003, 2007 or 2010. The typewriter is off and cannot be turned on. I suppose there is a setting to rectify this problem, but I have been unable to locate it. I would be greatful for some assistance.
The problem depends on how the .pdf was generated. If during the creation of the original .pdf, the option to Enable the Typewriter Tool for use with Adobe Reader is selected, this would alleviate the problem of the disabled Typewriter Tool. Seeing that this might not be the case, following is a solution. If Adobe Acrobat Professional is available, use it to reprint the original .pdf to .pdf by selecting File > Print > Printer Name (select Adobe PDF as the printer). Save the new .pdf. In the new .pdf, select Tools > Typewriter > Enable Typewriter Tool in Adobe Reader. Hopefully this will solve the problem.

AppleScript do script file completely broken in Acrobat 9 Pro?
After not being able to use Acrobat 8 at all because of this issue
http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b4b95a
I plunked down another $170 hoping the issue would be fixed in Acrobat 9.
But with Acrobat 9 Pro (9.0.0, OS X 10.5.5), calling do script file does not seem to work at all. I've created a simple one line script:
console.println("test 123");
and called it like this:
tell application "Adobe Acrobat Pro"
do script file "Path:to:file:test.js" as alias
end tell
I get this error:
92:181: execution error: Adobe Acrobat Pro got an error: Can't continue do script. (-1708)
The console in Acrobat Pro shows:
illegal character
0:
Thanks for any help or suggestions.It depends. Generally-speaking the content of PDF files created in Acrobat X will use PDF/1.7 as the base level so will open in Acrobat and Reader 9, but there are exceptions, including:
PDF Portfolios won't display properly
PDFs using the 'Acrobat X or later' security hash won't open at all
Some edge case scenarios with certification won't validate
Files which exploit bugs in one version or which hit a bug in a previous version
All PDFs created in Acrobat (Standard or Pro) will open in the same version of Reader, Standard or Pro - it's only the creation/editing features which vary between flavors. -
MS Powerpoint 2010 Notes Pages and Acrobat 9 Pro
Does anyone have a print solution that allows Notes pages print in Acrobat 9 Pro? Blank pages print or the notes only and not the slide will print. We made a mistake by upgrading our whole department to MS Office 2010, not knowing that Acrobat (which is what we used to prepare our printed material) is NOT compatible with MS Office 2010. I saw that we "have to wait for the next version of Acrobat"? We need help! Does anyone have a solution?
Found a solution! Adobe support confirmed that since Office 2010 came out after Acrobat 8 or 9, it has not been tested and the PDF creator in powerpoint will not print notes pages. We used Bullzip PDF creater (http://www.bullzip.com/products/pdf/info.php) a free download. This is an available print option from within powerpoint afer you install the small file. This DID print the Notes pages correctly. After its initial creation, any additional .PDF work is being down from within Acrobat 9 (headers, footer, creating a Portfolio, etc.).

Trim Marks Not Printing from Acrobat 9 Pro
I work at an envelope printing company, and we have recently
upgraded my computer (Windows XP Pro SP 3) to Creative Suite 4.
When I try to print a customer's PDF file with trim marks to show
our typesetting department how to place the art, the trim marks
don't print. I have tried every option I can find in the Advanced
section of the Print dialog box. What worked for Acrobat 8 doesn't
work for me anymore. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks for your help!Hello,
I'm sorry I'm not able to address your question. These forums

Swf files not loading properly
Hello, I'm new to Flash and recently downloaded the trial to make a few things to add to my website. Nothing too complex, I made a slideshow of images and turned some images into buttons. Either way, after I publish the files and import the swf files into Dreamweaver, I always get a flash player error when I try to look at the content on my website. It will tell me that I need to update my flash player to 11.2. I've downloaded 11.2 multiple times, reinstalled flash player, and made sure that I do indeed have the correct version of flash player on this computer. Just to ensure that it wasn't a problem with my laptop, I checked with a different computer as well and it had the same problem.
Is this a problem because I'm trying to create content with the trial version? Or am I just doing something wrong? After I create whatever I'm making in Flash, I save it, publish it, and import the .swf file into Dreamweaver.As far as the trial version being the source of the problem goes, it is not likely because the trialversion is a fully functional version without restrictions on use.
What might be part of the problem could be allowing Dreamweaver to embed the Flash content into the web page rather than using the code that Flash will generate for embedding.
What you should do is publish an html page via Flash (set it up in the Publish Settings) and test that html page to see if you have the same issue. If not, copy the code from that page and use it in place of whatever Dreamweaver created for it. -
SWF files not loading onto page in Catalyst output.
Hello,
This is a new one that I have not yet seen. I have a large assortment of SWF files set up in Scroll Panes and they are not loading up when I check the project using Firefox or Safari. The site is here:
www.electronic-lifestyle.com
Go into any page linked from the top row and then hit a sub page. When you see a scroll bar come up on the right side of the film strip yet nothing inside the film strip you will see the issue.
This is really serious and could screw up my entire project so any advice would be really helpful. I need to figure out why the SWF files are not loading in on the browser with the files from the server when they work just fine using the local deploy files. Everything works just fine from the machine but when I try to get it to download from the server nothing.
All of the SWF files are built in Flash CS5 using AS3 and contain some simple links and commands. Some of the SWF files are coming up just fine, it is just the latest batch of files I have uploaded that are giving me the problem, but only off the server. The same files work just fine in local mode.
Thanks in advance,
BrettChris,
This is not an apples to apples comparison but I think it will Illustrate the differences. This is a sample of code from Catalyst that works:

<s:Group xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009" xmlns:fclib="com.adobe.flashcatalyst.components.*" xmlns:d="http://ns.adobe.com/fxg/2008/dt">
<fx:Script>

protected function mac_btn_clickHandler():void
navigateToURL( new URLRequest( encodeURI("http://www.mcintoshlabs.com")), "_blank");
protected function integra_btn_clickHandler():void
navigateToURL( new URLRequest( encodeURI("http://www.integrahometheaters.com")), "_blank");

</fx:Script>
<fclib:SWFController loadForCompatibility="true" source="assets/images/ElectronicMain2c.swf" x="0"/>
<s:Button skinClass="components.Button1" x="0" y="1328" d:userLabel="Mac_btn" click="mac_btn_clickHandler()"/>
<s:Button skinClass="components.Button1" label="Button" x="0" y="1768" d:userLabel="Integra_btn" click="integra_btn_clickHandler()"/>
</s:Group>
This is an example of the AS3 code that was confounding the SWF load on the example I gave:
button_1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, fl_ClickToGoToWebPage);
function fl_ClickToGoToWebPage(event:MouseEvent):void
navigateToURL(new URLRequest("http://www.mcintoshlabs.com"), "_blank");
button_2.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, fl_ClickToGoToWebPage_2);
function fl_ClickToGoToWebPage_2(event:MouseEvent):void
navigateToURL(new URLRequest("http://www.integrahometheater.com/"), "_blank");
Now these are from the same page, the first of which is online right now here:
www.electronic-lifestyle.com/AS/Main.html
This particular code is used on the Electronics page. When I look at the two side by side it seems there are some syntax differences but I do not know enough about AS3 to tell what the important differences are.
Thanks for looking,
Brett
