Switch from stand-alone Flash Builder to Eclipse plugin

Hi, I understand I can install the Flash Builder as a stand along IDE or add it as a plugin to the existing Eclipse IDE. I have an existing Eclipse IDE where I have all my projects that I currently work on. The company just acquired and installed a stand along Flash Builder for me. I was wondering if I could somehow get it working as a plugin to my existing IDE so that I don't have to keep switching between two IDEs. Preferably I can do this switch on my own without having to go back to the department who did the original install for me which could be a hassle. Thanks.

The Burrito Preview does work as an eclipse plug-in to Helios. Burrito needs 32-bit eclipse, and Cocoa (not Carbon) on OS X.

Switching from stand-alone LR to Adobe CC

I too am moving from Lightroom standalone program to Creative Cloud. I purchased LR a year ago but am moving to CC in order to have Photoshop. Do I need to do anything to my existing Lightroom before installing CC? It's my understanding that my photos won't be disrupted since they are stored on my hard drive, but I wasn't sure if I essentially will end up with 2 Lightroom versions and, if so, do they 'communicate' with one another? Not sure if I'm wording all of this properly to convey what I'm trying to get at. I just want to be sure that I'm doing what I need to do in order for this to be a seamless transition, so I don't mess anything up! Thanks so much.

You can download the standalone player (Projector) from https://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
Note that the download is the player, not an installer, so you need to make the .swf file association manually.

Yes. I have Flash Builder 4.6 and 4.7 running in different Eclipse Luna installs.

On Mac, I had to have the 32bit version of Luna for 4.6, and the 64bit version of Luna for 4.7 (and I recently started using 4.7 with Eclipse Mars).
For 4.6 you need to first download Eclipse 3.6 and install the Flash Builder 4.6 plugin to that Eclipse install. For 4.7 you need to download Eclipse 3.7 and install the plugin to that Eclipse install. Once it's installed in the 3.x version, you can then copy the fb*.link files from the Eclipse 3.x dropins folders into your Eclipse Luna's dropin folder.
There is an issue where something in Flash Builder 4.7 won't work right when using it as a plugin, not sure but it might be something with building ANEs.

Where can I download a stand alone flash player?

I'm looking for a stand alone flash player that I can scrub video and audio with. NOT Elmedia player. Thanks!

By stand-alone I mean a program that's not an Adobe product but still plays Flash and swf files. By scrub audio and video files, I mean drag a cursor along a timeline that runs the duration of the video. There is a "stand-alone" player that can be accessed from the Flash program, but it does not allow you to scrub.

There is no download of the standalone. The only publicly
distributed version
is the browser plugin/player.
Download the authoring tool, Flash CS3 and you will get the
standalone with it.

Need a stand alone flash player

currently l have version 7 installed that came with Flash MX problem is on occasion l find its not up to its job..
basically put l want a more up to date version of the stand alone player so l can run files made with newer versions as the stand alone player l currently use is failing pretty badly when running some files only showing half their content.

lm not exactly authoring it came with the suite when l originally started using it, really only installed that part for the stand alone flash player.
but surely l can just install and updated stand alone flash player, all l want to do is view animations a friend of mine wanted me to try out for him. that being said l cant even seem to view them in my browsers which is weird because no one else is having any issues and my browsers flash plugins are up to date.

Stand-alone flash player

Ok... I went to adobe.com and click to download the latest
version of flash player(9). I published a flash file published
under flash player 8 settings and used the new On2 VP6 to encode
some video. I export a .swf and an HTML file.
When i open the HTML file the movie plays fine. When i try an
just dbl click the.swf to open it on my computer without HTML it
doesn't play, and my stand alone flash player says version 7 at the
top of it. Is there a seprate update for the stand-alone player? If
so, where can i find it?

Maybe you can't, since Flash 9 isn't due for release until
some time in 2007. Flex creates content that uses the Flash 9
player IIRC, but since it's a web app development thing that
probably only means the plugin - though you could check if you're
that desperate.
You could buy Flash 8 for the v8 player, but if its only the
standalone player you want, it's not exactly a value-for-money
option.
There's this whole thing where the standalone player is seen
as a development tool because it can create 'projector'
executables. Why they can't just take out the projector-creating
stuff I don't know.

Flash Builder 4 + Eclipse 3.5 (Cocoa or Carbon) + Snow Leopard

Does this configuration work? The install documentation says only 3.4 is supported -- I really hope that is not the case.

I'm not quite sure what has gone wrong here, but can you
please try launching with the "-clean" command line option? E.g.
from the command line:
eclipse -clean
or
flexbuilder -clean
Some background, in case it helps: Although I don't know why
this has happened, it appears that a DLL is missing. Almost all of
Flex Builder is written in Java, but there are a few bits of native
code. In your "plugins" directory (e.g. "C:\Program
Files\Adobe\Flex Builder 3\plugins", or ""C:\Program
Files\Adobe\Flex Builder 3 Plug-in\eclipse\plugins", something like
that) should be either a file or a directory called
com.adobe.flexbuilder.utils.osnative_3.0.*.jar (where "*" is a
six-digit number). Inside that jar file, among other things, should
be a file called os/win32/x86/JNIToNativeBridge.dll. Please note,
there are two plugins with similar names:
com.adobe.flexbuilder.utils.osnative, and
com.adobe.flexbuilder.utils.osnative.win. The one I am referring to
here is the one that does *not* have "win" in the name.
Eclipse caches lots of stuff; one thing it does is, if it
finds a DLL in a plugin, it sometimes copies that DLL to another
place, called the configuration directory. The "-clean" option
tells Eclipse to discard its cache.
Please let me know whether this resolves the problem.

Need to print simultaneously via the network/TCP/IP & also print parallel from stand-alone PC

1. HP LaserJet 4200 Q2427A
2. Win7 - 32bit
3. When I print from the Networked PC (which is on same subnet as printer) Prints come out. No problems. Then I need to print from a PC( which is a standalone PC w/ no connection to the corporate LAN, but does have a separate DSL connection to the internet) connected via the parallel cable. Prints fine no problems. When I try to then go back to the networked PC and print, The job takes 10-15 minutes print if at all- which sometimes it does not print at all.
4. The stand-alone PC was replaced with a new windows 7 PC. The previous stand-alone PC was running windows XP. We did not experience any issues when PC was XP. PC was replaced due to Hard drive going bad and age. The windows 7 PC has a PCI parallel card installed for the parallel connection.
Have also tried using a parallel to usb adapter with same results.

That would be Wireless Distribution System (WDS). That is to say Wireless to Wireless. And if I recall correctly that option is not available to you.
Bridge Mode is bridging between ethernet and WiFi.
One way you could maybe do what you want without ethernet over powerline adaptors is to get an Airport Express (more money), attach that to the Pirelli via ethernet. Put the Express into Bridge Mode. Now have the Express provide the WDS server to the Airport Extreme Base Station. Of course you now have 3 WiFi transmiters in your home just so you can print something, but just think of the coverage in your home.
NOTE: If for some reason you decide to try this Express to AEBS WDS system, you can create a roaming network by giving all 3 WiFi systems the same SSID and password. When everyone is using the same SSID and password you can roam around the house and your laptops will automatically switch to the base station with the strongest signal (assuming that is worth something to you).

Publishing to Mac from PC with Flash Builder 4.6

I have recently switched from Flash Pro to Flash Builder to write actionscript projects. I would like to publish the finished application for both PC and Mac. I don't want to use the air installer as most potential customers won't have air installed. I have tried the captive runtime option, and this will work well for the PC version, but I am unsure how to package the resulting files for use on a Mac or whether there is a more suitable option for the Mac app (such as the Mac Projector in Flash Pro)
Any help would be appreciated.

Saving Image to server from stand alone SWF using PHP

Hi all!
I´m having some problems completing the following task.
I built an information terminal for the shop of a friend of mine which uns as fullscreen application.
On this terminal the swf file is running as a stand alone file by unsing the flash player directly.
I want to save a snapshot (jpg) from a webcam if someboy presses a button.
This does work as long as I run my application (swf) by using the browser (Firefox , Apache and localhost).
But if I try to use it as it should be used no image is beeing created.
There was an error when first testing the application which forwarded me to an Adobe site where I had the possibility to grant files permissions, which I did for the file (the SWF) that needed it.
Did I do something wrong, or is there some permission thet I have to grant before it works as it should be?
