Symbols do not render in browsers

Hello,
I don't know when / why this happened but for some reason symbols (Roman I believe) in Firefox 3.5.5 and Safari 4.0.3 do not render correctly.
An example is this page:

Symbols like the upside A does not render correctly for me:

Yet when I copy and paste the weird hex blocks into Pages or Textedit, the symbols display just fine.
I'm not sure what the cause of this issue is, but I'm hoping to get some insight on what it could be.
Note: I've tried various UTF and Western encoding changes on Firefox with no avail.
Snow Leopard Version: 10.6.2

The general approach at this time is to ask if you've checked for any problematic fonts (all languages) with Apple's Font Book (look in the Applications folder). Find and remove all duplicates also.
Start there to be sure all fonts that are in play come out with a clean bill of health.
Don't hesisate to perform wholesale deletion of old and/or little used fonts - be skeptical of anything that has come from Office 2008, including those related to an Equation Editor installation.
By all means be sure any 3rd party apps AND plug-ins are Snow Leopard compatible.
An additional measure is to clear the existing font caches:

That said, 10.6.2 release notes have this to say about fonts:

Fonts fixes provided for:
• an issue with font spacing
• an issue in which some Fonts are missing
• font duplication issues
• an issue with some PostScript Type 1 fonts not working properly
All else fails, walk that portable into the nearest Apple Store and ask the staff there for assistance.

Please try to enable UTF-8 encoding in Outlook to check if it helps. To do this, go to File > Options > Advanced > Scroll down to the "International options" section, then:
1. Tick the check box labeled "Automatically select encoding for outgoing messages" and click "Unicode (UTF-8)" on the drop-down menu.
2. Tick the check box labeled "Automatically select encoding for outgoing vCards" and click "Unicode (UTF-8)" on the drop-down menu.
3. Tick the check box labeled "Allow UTF-8 support for the mailto: protocol."
Click OK and then test the issue again.

Symbol font not displayed correctly in WebHelp output

I have TCS 2. I have a character format that uses the Symbol font. It displays correctly in FM and in the RH Design Editor. But in the WebHelp output, the Symbol font displays as Arial. What did I do wrong?

What browser are you using? Most probably, your browser does not support the symbol font out of the box and therefore defaults back to Arial. My guess is that it will work on IE, but not on other browsers. This is because Symbol isn't a default web font.
To overcome this, you must use the @font-face rule in your css and provide the font file as a baggage file in your project. For more info on @font-face, see: http://www.font-face.com/.

Input buttons do not render in Safari for Mac

Hi,
As a developer I am having difficulties with Safari when it comes to render forms and javascripts. many of them simply are ignored when rendering.

for some odd reason the "vote" buttons do not render. look at the same page in IE, Firefox or Opera and you'll see what I am talking about.

CS4 Design view does not render CSS correctly but browser does !?!?

I am designing a layout using primarily CSS. I want to insert a table inside one of the div's. In design view the table gets pushed way out of position but in live view and on the web, the page looks correct. Why? Am I missing something in design view?

This glitch is making it difficult to add content to the table.
I tried to edit the page with Contribute CS4 and the table gets pushed so far out of position that it is impossible to access it. The page looks fine when I am connected but as soon as I try to edit it does not render properly.

This question comes up almost daily, and I dont recall seeing an answer that is much different. It comes down to that it does not matter what DV shows, it is the browser view that counts. How frustrating it is to spend time and effort to correct a view in DW Design, only to find out it throws your browser view all askew. Its hard enough to make x number of different browsers all look good with however many screen resolutions, to worry about something that in the end does not matter.....
Work more in code view, let F12 be your companion.

How to revert back a SAP NOTE? Dump- Field symbol has not yet been assigned

Hi Experts,
We r getting dump(cause: Field symbol has not yet been assigned) in production for ABUMN tx, so, when debugged, it came to know that, the Field symbol is coming from REUSE_ALV_LIST_DISPLAY!!
So, for some reason the system message text is not getting output in ALV-->Dump!!
So, found a NOTE causing this problem!!
So, pls. let me know that, How to revert back this/any SAP NOTE? pls. in detail steps wise!!

Hi,
The problem seems to be in your ALV grid display.
The reason must be your field catalog.
Just check your fieldcatalog.
The value in the fieldname field of the fieldcatalog should be same as the fieldname in your internal table and should be in capital letters.
Probably you must have mistyped some field.

Number 2 key(with "at" symbol) is not working......

Hi,
i am using HP 15-d006tu Notebook PC with windows 8 os.
Recently i started facing a serious problem ie key with numer 2 and at symbol is not working. my model is having numeric keypad so i can type 2 with that but i am not able to type at symbol. Finding it really hard to copy paste the email addresses or the symbol alone. i checked whether it is jammed or something like that but nothing is there and its pressing like anyother key but when i press that key nothing is happening.
kindly let me know whether it is a hardware issue or some virus or something like that????
Should i take my device to the service center and change the entire keypad???
Really finding this problem a big headache. Its not even 1 year since i bought this laptop.
Please please guide me.....

Did you try connecting to USB keyboard and check?
Shut down the notebook
unplug the AC Adapter
Disconnect all the external peripheral devices
then remove the battery
Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds
Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter
Tap away at the ESC key as you start the notebook to see if this will launch the Start-up Menu
then select F10 to enter the bios menu
Press F5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes F9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key )
use the arrow keys ( assuming they work in this menu ) to select 'Yes' and hit enter
Press F10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
If that doesn't resolve the problem, then it's probably hardware issue,

Crystal Report Viewer Error: Could not render the page

Hi,
I was facing the same issues whereby i creating my crystal report in VS2005 profesional built in crystal report designer. When preview in VS2005 the graph displayed correctly. However, when export to IIS it shows the error could not render the page.
I am using Windows 2008 server, IIS7.
I tried to install the CRREDIST x86.msi into my server, however it still could not show out the graph (pie chart) in the localhost.
Appreciated anyone know this could kindly advice.

How can I use Greek symbols in a Pages text? Greek symbols are not included in the special character collection.
I need to import for example a sigma from Word or Adobe illustrator and then Pages can recognise it. I can not find it from within Pages.

Special character palette from the edit menu does have sigmas under European ... > Greek ...
You can do a search at the bottom of the Special Character palette. Double click on the greek capital letter sigma. You will get a lot of sigmas.

How to correct the error
