Sync error -124 (after complete restore)

Hi!
My husband started having problems with his ipod this morning - it wouldn't do anything. I'm not sure this is an ipod classic (model A1059). He forced it back to the original factory settings and then started syncing with the iTunes library. In the middle of the whole thing, it came back with error -124 (not sure if that's a negative or dash).
Does this mean a hardware issue? Suggestions???
Thanks!!

its not an ipod classic they came out with 80 and 160 gig only

You generally get that error code on a jailbroken phone ?
If it is Jailbroken then I am afraid you will get no help here.

Update and restore error messages on iPhone and iPod touch

  • The iPod cannot be synced, error (-124)

I have a brand new 80gb ipod. It synced once and then the battery ran completely down and I had to restore it. Since then, after syncing one or two podcasts, I get the error message listed in the subject. I have tried the whole 5R's to resolve the problem, but have had no success. Brand new ipod, no music. Any suggestions?

  • Syncing with iTunes after iCloud Restore Syncs Unwanted Apps

After I had restored my iPhones using a recent iCloud backup, some of my content such as certain videos and music needed to be installed through syncing with iTunes. All of my apps were arranged and installed as they were before the resoration. I had iTunes set to not automatically begin to sync when I plug in any of my iOS devices, so I can review the device first and then begin the sync. Upon plugging in my iPhone, I checked the applications tab, and all of the apps were arranged the way they were when I would unlock my iPhone; everything seemed normal. It would appear that the content that had not been restored through the iCloud restore would simply be installed though syncing with iTunes. The second I hit sync, iTunes began to restore my iPhone with a very early sync, as many of the apps I had deleted some time ago were being installed onto my phone, and my of the applications added since that specific sync were removed. What can I do to just have iTunes act as it should when finishing the restoration on my phone and not default to a stubborn sync? I'm currently restoring my phone from another recent iCloud backup to have all of my apps and their settings restored to how they were less than 12 hours ago.

First make sure you have the most recent version of iTunes. Use the itunes menu to check for updates and install the latest version if needed.
Reboot your computer and rest your iphone. Press and hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the buttons and let the device restart. No data will be lost doing this. It's like rebooting a computer.

  • I'm getting  an error message after completing an update.  Help?

I'm getting  an error message that says "This version of iTunes has not been correctly localized for this language.  Please try running the English version." after completing an update.  Help?

Thanks for your help! I imported the table into Muse, then exported the site as html and opened it in Dreamweaver. I should've tried that in the first place but gave up when I couldn't edit it in Muse. I didn't know you could edit the html right in Muse. Also, my styling and the images I was using weren't showing up in Muse but once I opened it in Dreamweaver, everything fell into place. AND I could edit it! My client needs to edit this page every week, so I needed to be sure she could do that. She doesn't use Muse but does use Dreamweaver. At this point, I think I'll leave it alone and not try to style it with inline css. Maybe when I get a little more time, I'll try it. I just don't want to mess things up now that the're working.

  • Sync Error 53 after 3.1.3 update

I saw one asnwer to this - which was change your operating system from XP to Vista so that it would work - Really, that;s the sort of answer you expect from Microsoft.
Why does apple need to make a copy all my photos anyway so that is can copy them on to my phone.?
Anyway, the issue still exists, unknown error 53 after removing all the info and starting again
Last time that I will be using Apples Updates, and the iPhone was a huge let down after the Pocket PC anyway - they had their issues, bust as a business tool the iPhone is useless. you can't even have a couple of documents on there without having to buy a third party app, unsecured wifi node for the office, and even then you have no ide where it is stored in the iPhone - making concerns for security.
bring back visible file systems. so we can delete PIM databases etc when they get corrupt

Try deleting the iPod photo Cache and then syncing the iPhone again.

  • Sync Error - new after BBerry forced a Desktop Manager Upgrade

When I try to sync my Curve 8330, I get SYNCHRONIZATION ERROR:  COL TransBase: FillDefFolderInfo: Unable to get default folder for Calendar
This started right after Blackberry forced me to upgrade the Blackberry Desktop Software to v.5.0.186.  Any ideas?

It would appear that somehow the calendar settings in the BB were changed to 30 days, somehow, maybe by the downloading and sync with the updated desktop software.  Once I changed the BB to FOREVER, it appears I'm getting proper syncronization of my calendar between the software and the BB.  No messages to delete the majority of the dates.

  • Help with iTouch sync new files after system restore

I just recently did a system restore on the iTouch, backed up my previous files & restored them to the iTouch with no problems however I am not able to sync the new apps, files, pod casts etc... that I purchased to the device after the erase & restore. But they are showing up on iTunes just not the iPod.
    Thanks for any help,

I don't have an answer to your question, maybe someone else does.
What I did want to comment on, though, is that surely it was unnecessary to
uninstall a program to speed up your computer? It would have been sufficient
to leave it on your harddrive and not run it--that doesn't take up any RAM.
It won't slow up your computer unless it has some components in the startup
    folder.

  • Recursive error restaring after Full Restore

    For a Satellite  L445D-S5976
    It says:
    For Realtek RTL8101E/8102E(l) PCI-E Eathernet Controller v1.13 (081016)
This seems to be a check for the internet connection which is connected and functioning properly.  Then it goes to:
    Client MAC ADDR: 00 26 22 37 AA D4   GUID: 45449F36-9ED6-11DE-9A8A-00262237AAD4
It seems to be checkng for something via the internet for about 1 mn then it gives me an error:
    PXE-E53: no boot filename recieved
Then goes back to the "For Realtek" check and just keeps going like that.
Scratch the above (I'll leave it there for reference), I've got it onto a different error message now.
After getting some advice on how to use the restore discs I burned, it is now beginning the process of loading up Windows7, but it runs into another error.  It says:
    An error has occurred
    ERROR : F3-F100-0004
    An error has occurred.
Please press [OK] to turn off the computer.
Exact same thing on several attempts.

Your TM partition is a bit small. Apparently you're backing-up about 316 GB (TM adds about 20% to what it's backing-up for workspace, the "padding" in the message, on the TM volume), to a 555 GB partition.
The general rule of thumb here is, it should be 2-3 times as large, or about 632 to 948 gb in your case. But of course that varies greatly depending on how you use your Mac, and how much that 326 gb may grow. See item #1 in the Frequently Asked Questions post at the top of this forum for more detail.
And yes, everything you restored is considered as changed, so TM wants to back it up. You cannot prevent it. See: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1338.
So your only immediate choices are to expand the TM partition by at least 160 gb, or erase it with Disk Utility and let TM start fresh.
Longer-term, your best bet would be to get a larger drive, perhaps 1 tb.
One other note: do you have backups of the other partition(s) on your current TM drive? If not, they're at risk when that drive fails (when, not if). If you get a big enough drive, TM will back-up both your internal and that external, so you have two copies of everything.

  • I am still getting the itunes sync error -50 after I deleted the ipad cache in finder.  Any other suggestions so that I can sync my iPad?

I am geting an itunes errror -50 when trying to sync my ipad.  Itunes and apad are all currently up to date.  I read a question regarding this error that was from 2011 and I deleted the ipad cache in Finder as it suggested.  I still get the error message.  Any suggestions?

    Error 13, 14, 35 and 50 (or -50)
These errors are typically resolved by performing one or more of the steps listed below:
        1.    Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including trying a different USB port directly on the computer. See the advanced steps below for USB troubleshooting.
        2.    Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer.
        3.    Try a different USB 30-pin dock-connector cable.
        4.    Eliminate third-party security software conflicts.
        5.    There may be third-party software installed that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting one or more TcpWindowSize entries into your registry. Your default packet size being set incorrectly can cause this error. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet-size modification for assistance. Or, follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to reset the packet size back to the default for Windows.
        6.    Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, bypassing any routers, hubs, or switches. You may need to restart your computer and modem to get online.
        7.    Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.

  • 17" not getting past boot after complete restore from time machine

I have a 17" 2.5ghz mbp with 4gb of ram. Last week it would only boot up in safe mode and after running the apple hardware test it gave me the nvidia graphics card error code. I took Otto the apple store and they sent it in to have the logic board replaced. I got it back Friday working fine, but they had installed a clean install of osx. I used the time machine to restore my user settings but it did not restore my applications or photos. So I reformatted the HD with a snow leopard disc and once I had done that I plugged in my external HD with time machine on it and proceeded with doing a restore from my last restore point. Once that had finished and restarted it got stuck at the boot screen with the circle with the line through it. I restarted it in safe mode and everything is fine, I then ran the hardware test and nothing came up.
    Any ideas?

Just a thought... my husband's MBP 17" hard drive crashed last month. Personally, I think it was a lemon drive since DH never moved it from our home office -- and his desk's flat surface -- where he worked all the time. On the other hand, I have a MBP 13" that gets moved all over the house, stuffed into a case and carted out-of-town, and used by our kids! yet still tolerates the abuse nicely!! (I know, I just jinxed myself there, most likely!)
We bought both of our MBPs last summer, and OF COURSE when we took his to the Genius Bar to have them take a look, it was only TWO DAYS OUT OF WARRANTY! ARGH.... But!!!! Since it was still sooooo close to being in warranty, they graciously honored it and replaced the HD for free!!! Yay Apple! Now it's working beautifully!!
Interestingly... when I was first trouble-shooting his "circle/line only boot-up," I read in one forum that some of the 17" MBPs sold via retail from early to mid-2009, MIGHT have been sold with questionable HDs... hmm... but, Apple didn't find this out until complaints started coming in... I cannot find that particular forum now... argh again... and the Genius at the Bar said he had not heard of that happening... soooooooo..... no solid evidence here, but anecdotally, an interesting thought.....? Good luck!
