Sync iCal and Outlook calendars?

I use a Mac at home and on the road, but have to use a Win-XP at work. Is there a way to keep both sets of calendars on my iPod (iCal and Outlook)?

Ok... so in that case, what is keeping track of changes to the files on the flashcard? When you plug it into the Mac after using it on the PC, what decides which files are newer and which files to move from the flashcard to the Mac, and which files to move from the Mac to the flashcard? What decides what to do when there is newer data on both?
I suspect you are not actually syncing, but simply manually copying the data each time using the flashcard as the transport medium.
No, I have two sync programs, one on the Mac, one on the PC, they sync their files to the flashcard.

Have you tried configuring iTunes on both your home Mac and work PC to sync calendars to your iPod touch? If so, does it work or is data overwritten?
That was my question, can it be done? I'm guessing, from what you are saying here, that iTunes should be able to handle it? I don't have iTunes on the PC, so I haven't tried it. Is the functionality the same as on the Mac?

  • Need help syncing iCal and Outlook 2011 (for Mac) THANKS!

QUESTION: How do I sync iCal and Outlook up again without duplicating any more events, and very importantly, without sending any more email invitations?
I just bought an iPhone. I am trying to get my phone and my MacBook Pro synced up through iCloud.
I realize that I need to have Outlook 2011 and iCal set up for syncing for this to work.
I did this at one point, and it resulted in all of my ALL DAY appointments being duplicated in Outlook, iCal, and on the calendar on my phone - and iCloud sending out duplicate invitations to events.
Then, I turned syncing between iCal and Outlook and deleted all of the duplicates in my Outlook.
Of course, because I haven't set up Outlook to sync with iCal, iCal and my phone's calendar have not changed. There are still duplicates there.
How do I sync them up again without duplicating any more events, and very importantly, without sending any more email invitations?
Thanks in advance for any help you can be!
    Cheers!

My iPhone 4 was working fine, synched with Outlook 2011 on my iMac 11.02 through iTunes. Calendar changes also appeared in iCal, even though I don't use iCal - I only use Outlook. Last week I was prompted to update Outlook, which I did successfully. Today, I plugged the iPhone into the iMac to synch and suddenly all Calendar and Contact items are gone from the iPhone and in iCal on the iMac. In iTunes, the option to synch with Outlook in the Info tab ("other") is greyed out. What happened? Why can't I synch the iPhone anymore with Outlook? All the Calendar and Contact info is still on the iMac in Outlook. Help!

  • IPod as a conduit to sync iCal and Outlook 2003 with each other?

I am able to synchronize my work Outlook 2003 calendar and home Mac iCal with the iPod in two separate files on the iPod. I can see them both if I select "All". My questions are:
    1. What should I do to sync the PC and the Mac with the same file on the iPod?
    2. Is it possible to snychronize the iCal and Outlook with each other via the iPod?
    Thanks,
    Iris

If you mount your iPod on your Mac, navgate to the iPod Calendars folder and double-click on an ics file it will import the calendar into iCal. So you can sync from the PC to the iPod to iCal uni-directionally. If Outlook 2003 can import an ics file then you should be able to sync the other way as well. However, in both cases you will essentially be copying over one calendar with another, not really synchronizing.

  • Help needed to sync ical and google calendar

Hello, I am hoping someone can help me set up my ical and google calendar so they can sync from one to the other. I originally have ical with everything on it and I need to get it to sync with google. I have no problem exporting from ical and importing in google but I do have a problem setting it up to sync back and forth. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Syncing iPhone and Outlook Calendar - bug?

I have an issue syncing my iPhone 3G Calendar with Outlook’s Calendar (Outlook 2007). In general, the sync works fine, but: If I delete the current (ie first) instance of a repeating event in Outlook, when I sync, my iPhone will still display ALL instances of that event, including the ‘deleted’ one.
I have verified that this is because the iPhone is syncing the event based on its start date in Outlook, which will include the ‘deleted’ event, rather than what actually is shown as still a valid event in the calendar (which of course is what I want).
I am guessing that this is just because both manufacturers are pursuing a different methodology, but the bottom line is that iPhone claims it will sync properly, so I’d call it a bug.
I have a workaround, in that I can delete events from the Outlook calendar by changing the start date to the current one I wish to display, but this is cumbersome and of course takes more time. Is there a more elegant workaround? Or am I just doing something wrong?

When you decide to sync the second computer to the iphone, itunes will ask you if you want to merge or replace the data.
In the merge, data will be transfered both ways.
So, when you say separate, you can sync them one at a time, but in the end, all the events will be the same on both computers and iphone. Because itunes keeps merging the data.

  • Sync phone and outlook calendar on VISTA 64

I am using VISTA 64 bit os.  I have a 8300 running 4.5 and the desktop application is 4.6.0.6.  I can sync everything by the Calendar. It will read both the 8300 and Outlook but then errors out.  There really is not error message, vista just puts up a GUI that ask if you want to search for a fix to the error or just quit the program.  I have tried using the compatibility mode with the 'exe' program, but that did nothing but slow it down.  Any help

if I were you I would go to the back-up section of DM and do a specific backup of the calendar database only.

  • Sync Google and Outlook calendars?

It seems this is no longer possible since Apple removed features from the OS when "upgrading" to Mountain Lion and since google removed their own syncing tool for exchange in January 2013. This leaves an opportunity for a 3rd party developer to fill this gap... but I stil have found nobody who came out with a solution. Why not a server based solution without the need to install software ?
With syncing, you need to understand that when an event is created in a google calendar, then the same event is created in the exchange calendar. When an event is created (or deleted ) in exchage (office 365), the same event occurs in the google calendar.
Why would I need this ? For example: tools like scheduleonce.com only work with a google calendar, and my company calendar is based on exchange.

Microsoft and Google might be able to but this is nothing to do with Apple products or services.
Try the forums for the 2 companies involved.

  • Have thunderbolt and need to sync ical with google calendar in order to use.  Any suggestions?

Have a thunderbolt and MacBook.  Need to sync ical with google calendar as thunderbolt supports google calendar.  Any suggestions?

I think we may be talking about two different things. Thunderbolt is the new two way display port on Mac Book Pros and Apple displays.
Thunderbolt (originally codenamed Light Peak) is an interface for connecting peripheral devices to a computer via an expansion bus. Thunderbolt was developed by Intel and brought to market with technical collaboration from Apple Inc. It was introduced commercially on Apple's updated MacBook Pro lineup on February 24, 2011.
Thunderbolt combines PCI Express and DisplayPort into a serial data interface. A single Thunderbolt port supports hubs as well as a daisy chain of up to seven Thunderbolt devices; up to two of these devices may be high-resolution displays using DisplayPort. You can move data to and from peripherals up to 20 times faster than with USB 2.0 and up to 12 times faster than with FireWire 800.

  • Upon syncing my iPhone and mac all of my ical and iPhone calendar events have duplicated. how can i fix this and avoid it in the future?

upon syncing my iPhone and mac all of my ical and iPhone calendar events have duplicated. how can i fix this and avoid it in the future?

    Greetings,
    Questions:
    1. What version of the Mac OS are you running (Apple > About this Mac)?
    2. What version of the iOS are you running (Settings > About)?
    3. Do you backup your computer (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427)?
--- If you don't regularly backup your computer, now is the time to start.
    4. Do you backup your iPhone (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766)?
Check the calendar list on the left hand side of iCal.  Is it that the individual events are duplicated or is it just that you have the same calendar listed more than once?  If its that you have more than 1 copy of each calendar, you can delete one of the duplicate calendars to eliminate the duplicates.
If you find that it is the individual events that are duplicated then there are 2 options:
    1. Restore your computer iCal database or iPhone from a backup made before the duplication occurred.
    2. Use a duplication removal program (or do it by hand) to remove the duplicates: http://www.nhoj.co.uk/icaldupedeleter/
If you have a backup made before the duplication occurred, reply back with what kind of backup you have and I'll suggest how to recover the calendars.
To avoid this issue in the future:
Keep regular backups.  They are your best defense against data anomalies which are a fact of life in computers (although hopefully rare).
Keep your computer and iPhone software fully up to date (Apple > Software Update / Settings > General > Software Update).
Make sure the date and time on your computer and iPhone are correct before you sync the two devices.
Make sure the cable connections between the two is solid and that the cable shows no signs of physical damage.
    Hope that information helps.

I recently installed a new hard drive in a MacBook 2007 and then 10.6.3. I'd like to be able to Sync iCal to the calendars I have created on other devices (new iCloud account and an ME account). I can't upgrade to 10.7 or 10.8 because the MacBook is 32 bit. Just looking for a workaround as this is not a primary device.

You should update to the latest version of Snow Leopard, 10.6.8 - you can download it here; however it's still not compatible with iCloud and though you can connect to access your email you cannot access any other of iCloud's facilities.
However some people have been able to set up calendar syncing by using the method detailed here - this is an unsupported hack and may not be reliable, and may stop working at some future point. I've not tried it: use at your own discretion.
    To access the email:
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Snow Leopard or Leopard
Are you sure you can't upgrade to Lion? It requires an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, which you may well have, though it also needs 2GB RAM so you might need to add additional RAM (might not be worth it for what you want). The published specs don't mention 32 or 64 bit. You can buy Lion by ringing the Apple Store at the number at bottom left of this page.

  • How to solve sync problem between Outlook calendar and iPhone when reminder is set to _some_ non-standard values?

    Hi,
I am having a sync problem between my iPhone/iPad and Outlook calendar events (Outlook 2010).
Here is the description of the problem:
    1. In Outlook - please create a new event/appointment (e.g. "Test").
    2. Reminder is set by default to 15 minutes. You can change it by using a dropdown menu - please select: "0,5 days".
    3. Click on "0,5 days" and change it manually to "14,5 days".
    4. Click on "Save & Close".
    5. (Do not snooze or dismiss the reminder.)
    6. Sync with your iPhone/iPad.
    7. Open this new event on iPhone/iPad - you can see that alert is set to "15 minutes before" instead to a correct value that was set in Outlook.
The same problem can be seen if you set the reminder to e.g. "3 weeks" (standard value is "2 weeks").
However, it is interesting that non-standard values like "1,5 days" (and all other until "13,5 days") are synced without any problem.
Does anyone have a solution how to solve this problem (different than the trivial solution of not using those strange values)?
    Thanks!

Thanks to another post (https://discussions.apple.com/message/17501071#17501071) I reset the sync history, here is what to do:
    Launch iTunes.
Before you hook up your iPhone to the PC and iTunes do this: Go to iTunes Edit menu > Preferences… > select the iPhone > click the Reset Synch History button > click OK.
Connect the iPhone to the PC and let iTunes recognize it.
In the top right corner is the iPhone icon, click on the left side of the iPhone icon > the iPhone menu launches.
In the menu along the top click on Info > make your selections > click Sync button > it gives you a dialog at the top with the steps it’s going through during the sync.
In the top left of the iTunes app > click Exit.
