Sync of address book/contacts not "taking"

I watched the tutorial on how to sync my address book on my laptop with the iMac contacts. Then I followed the instructions today (8/12/07), and I seemed to have synced successfully. However, when I login to iMac and open the address book, I still get the message "Last synchronized on 07/08/2007 at 10:55 AM" and the data is NOT synced. I've gotten no error message to indicate that I didn't sync properly, so why is the data not updated?
Thanks so much for any help you can provide!

The simplest way to do that would be to create a group in Contacts that has just the ones you want and only sync that group to your iPhone.

  • Address Book contact note it

Hi: When I update Address Book contact note it erases itself? Any solution?

Address Book doesn't have any complex note features (just a single basic text field), but you might want to look at something like Bento, which links to your Address Book and allows you to create whatever database structure you like. I use it for client visits, note-taking and hardware/software configurations.

  • How do I sync my address book contacts on my iphone and clear all other contacts on my phone (issue with icloud?)

When I purchased my iphone 4S, I had all my old phone's information transfer over to my new phone.
I organized my address book on my mac powerbook and then hoped to sync my computer's address book to my phone - in hopes of erasing all the junky contacts on my iphone and only having the my address book contacts on my phone.
I did all I could trying to make this happen (through iTunes) but it hasn't erased/replaced all of the contacts on my phone - I believe since my phone is synced to icloud.  So I'm stuck with a very unorgaized contacts list on my phone...
How can I make it so I only have the contacts from my address book on my phone?
    Thanks in advance,
    Suzanne

Also, I just noticed that syncing my phone effected my calendar in that all my events now repeat.  So instead of having one event schedule on a day, I have two of the same events scheduled for the same time.
It seems as if I can't sync my phone to my computer through iTunes and iCloud.
    Help???

  • Address Book contacts not showing up in Mail

I'm unable to access my address book contacts from Mail.  The wheel on the right side of the recipient box spins but never finds the contact or group I'm searching.  Can anyone help?

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Log out and log back in. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Post your results.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Address book contacts not syncing

When I sync my iphone, my contacts in address book on my mac do not sync. I don't have a mobileme account. Is this required or can I sync manually without mobileme?

You aren't addressing anything to Apple here.
If you have selected to transfer your email account settings from your computer to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process, and the account setup info was successfully transferred to your iPhone, there is no need to keep this selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences - including this every time you sync. Email account settings usually doesn't change often if ever and if no longer selected to be included with the sync process, resetting the sync history on your Mac should have no effect on the order of email accounts on your iPhone.
For whatever it is worth, I've never had to reset the sync history on my Mac for contact info to be successfully synced or continue to be successfully synced. This has been with a first generation iPhone that I used and synced direct with the Address Book on my Mac for over a year, and the same since I purchased an iPhone 3G.
Not sure what the reason is for you having to continually reset the sync history on your Mac.

  • Adding Faces to Address Book Contacts-Not working!

I tried adding some faces to my Address book's contacts, but the "Face" icon, that is supposed to link you to your iPhoto Library does not work.  It is dimmed.
And choosing my iPhoto Library instead, in hopes of being able to access my photos with faces, does not get around this problem.
    Anyone know of a fix?
    Thanks.

I placed this question up here almost two years ago, and the problem has since resolved itself.  I think because I have upgraded my mac's operating system (OS) several times since then.
You might want to check and see if you're using the latest version of Mac OS X (currently 10.8.4).  If you're not up-to-date, go into the App Store on your Mac and see if there is an OS update waiting for you.  That might help.
    Good luck.

  • Address Book Contacts not displayed

My 8100 recently went off for repair and was replaced. The new phone does not recognise the contacts in the address book when it receives an SMS- only the mobile number is shown with the message. It was doing the same with incoming phone calls until i changed the name display from last name to first name, though this is still not 100% either. Would appreciate any tips or ideas, network operator shop staff have no idea. Otherwise i'm back to the shop for further repair/replacement.
    Many Thanks,
    Dan

The problem might be the sim card, usually if you changed the blackberry and you still have problems then its the sim card. Try a new one it might help. Also, the phone might be the same, sometimes when you send back your phone they dont replace it they try solving the problems on the first one.
I Hope this info was helpful.

  • Address Book Contacts not showing

    BlackBerry Pearl 8100
I have 34 contacts added to my personal address book,
    sometimes I see them, sometimes I don't.
I have to go to options and change the display name from "first name"
to "last name, save and the contacts will show, and then I
have to go back to options and change it back to "First name"
because this is the display I use.
This is a big problem when composing txt sms and calling from the
address book because it's like I have no contacts!
I have to go through all the above steps just to call or write a sms.
I already removed the battery and put it back in. It doesn't work.
    It keeps happening.
I have to back-up the address book to outlook everyday because
I'm afraid someday I will lose all my contacts.
This BB is new, I've only used for 3 weeks.
Please let me know the solution because this is getting upsetting!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    It didn't work for me!
I still have to go to options and change the display name from "first name" to "last name", save and the contacts will show, and then I have to go back to
options and change it back to "First name" because this is the display I use.
Then I can see them for a couple of times I click on the address book and then they are "gone".
If you have any other option let me know!

  • Random address book contacts not syncing to 750i

Some address/contacts dont appear to sync or show on 7501.If I delete the contact and re enter seems to be ok,but modifying entry does not update.
    Appreciate any advise.

Assuming you are talking about the Sony Ericsson K750i, you are not alone. I have had the same problem on numerous occasions. I have no idea why this is happening.
Would be interested if anyone can shed any light on this.

  • Why won't iphone sync mac address book contacts?

I've got an IP4 and a MAC G5 both with most recent software updates.  At around the turn of 2012 I started "losing" new contacts from my phone,  It transpired that the phone and computer were conflicting some how and contacts were not being updated or synced. When I tried to manually input these new details to Address I am told that the Database could not be opened as it is corrupted.
    How do I resolve this?

Okay, if Entourage is syncing to iCal fine, then the problem is not with Entourage, but with the iPhone. (How sync works--Entourage sends it to a central location, and the iPhone and iCal pick it up from there. So you know E'rage is getting it to the central location fine, but for some reason the iPhone is not picking it up).
In which case things like reset/restore the iPhone might help (read the iPhone manual on troubleshooting and on syncing, and backup the iPhone, and export iCal and E'rage data to an archive before futzing around too much). Reset/Restore are different from a one-way sync that overwrites data, which you might try first---I think you can tell it just overwrite a certain type of data--the settings are down at the very bottom of the Info panel in iTunes 8.
However, since E'rage should be irrelevant to the problem, you should also search/ask re general syncing problems with the iPhone.

  • Trying to link Address Book Contacts with Outlook 2011 - iSync??

    Hi There,
Would be grateful for some assistance.
I've got all my contacts and other things in iCloud - wonderful!
I've managed to get all my contacts from iCloud to show up in Address book.
I want to sync my address book contacts in Outlook 2011 - after three days of trying I'm still stuck.
I've checked the Syncing set up in Outlook, that appears to be correct.
I've checked addressbook, and other than having two folders one entitles iCloud (which has everything I need in it) and one entitled On my Mac, which has a couple of testers in it but nothing else, everything else seems fine.
I've checked that iCloud is synching into the iCloud folder in Address Book by putting some stuff on my iPhone and seeing it got pushed from the iCloud to my MacBook - all working fine there.
I have read lots of forum posts and keep seeing references to iSync, and how its on all Mac's but then I see people saying that its not on with Lion - I'm running Lion, and I can't find iSync...so this would seem to be true.
Can anyone tell me how I might achieve this sync process - I would much rather be using an integrated programme like Outlook...any thoughts

Enthusiast: I just got back from the Apple Store. This is the solution they suggested and seems to work. We got rid of iCloud contacts. We just set up Yahoo account in the "mail, contacts, calendars" of the iPhone. Under the "contacts" section we have the "default Account" set to Yahoo. When any additions/delete/mods happen then it is updated on Yahoo.
On the MacBook we deleted the "on My Computer" and deleted "iCloud" and then added the Yahoo account for synching. This is basically used as a secondary backup for the yahoo contact and used if using the computer. It is not necessary to use the computer for any of this.
I've been having lots of problems with Yahoo contacts. I had previously pulled in facebook contacts. This was NOT a good idea. I cleaned up my contacts, exported them out to CSV. Scrubbed some more. Imported them to a new yahoo account. Then deleted all contacts from my main Yahoo, permanently deleting them. Then imported my contacts. I did lose all my "lists" settings. That was a small price to pay.
Now iPhone, iPad and MacBook address book and Yahoo are all in sync.
I was shown at the store is to refresh the Yahoo webpage (CTRL R) and then refresh the contacts on the iPhone. There is a slight delay in update. iCloud is faster at it. But its best to avoid iCloud if you are using Yahoo contacts. Also avoid Facebook contacts. If you really want to use the Facebook feature, I would do it on a different account and then bring in the contacts that you want through an import.
I was having problems with Yahoo contacts and it might be that it was being flaky or they were experiencing problems ... because all of a sudden it started working again. I've seen similar problems with Yahoo Calendar.

  • Syncing Mac Address Book with iCloud

Hello, I am trying to sync my Mac Address Book with iCloud. All contacts that are created under iCloud on Mac Addess Book are immediately synced. But if I create a contact on the Mac book exclusively, that contact will not get synced with iCloud.
Does it mean that if we want to sync Mac address book contacts with iCloud, they should always be created under the iCloud category on the Mac? Can someone help me with this. I have checked all sync options are switched "on" and sync is working fine across all other apps.
    Thanks,
    Farhan

I believe the duplicate address books stems from the move from MobileMe to iCloud.
In system preferences I found an iCloud icon and also a MobileMe icon. I was logged in under both.
    1)  In the Address Book preferences I selected iCloud and unchecked Enable this account.
    2)  In the Address Book I selected iCloud and clicked on the minus “-” to remove that account – leaving only the local Mac address book.
    3)  I went into system preferences and logged out of MobileMe
    4)  In system preferences I opened iCloud and the “Contacts” was not selected (from above) and I selected it.
I got a dialog box asking if I wanted to merge the iCloud contact with the local contacts – clicked YES.
… spinning wheel for a minute … voila – only one address book account – iCloud with syncing to iCloud and my iPhone.

  • My address book contacts in icloud

    Hi All,
I cannot seem to sync my address book contacts in icloud. I have search for some info online which suggested that I go into my address book preferences and set it up to icloud but this option does not show in the preferences.
    Any advice?
    thanks.

You need Mac OS X 10.7.4 or later to use iCloud and have the iCloud system preferences pane.

  • Syncing Mac Address Book to multiple iPhone users?

After updating my iMac to Mavericks I'm unable to sync my Address Book contacts to iPhones via USB sync.
Our usage model is that we have one set of Address Book contacts on a Mac for everyone at home (easier to maintain) and then we create unique Address Groups for each family member. In the past we used the Info tab in iTunes to specify which address group should sync with which iPhone. It worked well.
With the update to Mavericks the Info tab is gone. Apple wants users to sync their contacts via iCloud.
Security concerns notwithstanding, I don't know how to do it. How can a family of iPhone users, each with a different Apple and iCloud ID, sync to the same Address Book?
    Thanks

Thank you to Gemariah for the suggestion that I should seek to import Contact details via Yahoo but to be honest whilst that may be indeed a valid work-around it is nothing if not clunky.
I have discovered that the PocketMac software is nothing to do with RIM although it is directly linked off their web-page: PocketMac do not appear to offer any real support and conversation with my network provider [ Vodaphone ] suggests that they regard the PocketMac software as little short of useless and a major source of problems.
Certainly in my experience, it is useless: it has duplicated some entries and will not allow the additional entries to be deleted. Clearly one can only hope that the RIM software which they are advertising for release in September will solve the problem but given that there is no way in which one can talk directly to RIM other than via a chargeable conversation I wonder whatb the chances are of their version being any better. I just wish that I could treat my clients in such an arrogant manner and still make money!
I would suggest that unless you want to spend time beating your head against a brick wall, do not use PocketMac software. It is a rubbish product, with support to match.
