Synch from itunes on iMac to Ipad and iPhone
I've eventually decided to upgrade, my iPad (7.0.4) and iPhone (7.0.4).
I lost loads of data and iTunes backups corrput (so Apple says), so iPad had to rebuilt as if new.
So am woeking through everything to re-establish to as it was before.
I AM LOOSING THE WILL TO LIVE.
iTunes...I had NO music data at all on Pad or Phone.
On my iMac, in iTunes 11.1.4 created 2 playlists and synched them to my Pad and Phone, ONLY 2 playlists. NOTHING ELSE WAS CHECKED, I TRIPLE CHECKED.
Success - got 2 playlists on Pad and Phone.
BUT BUT BUT
Noticed loads of other tracks, 196 of them.
Could not work out where they'd come from, then realised "Ah they're in Purchased folder on iTunes".
BUT I DID NOT ASK FOR THESE 2 B SYNCHED. NO WAY.
So i removed everything in iTunes, in Pruchased folder.
I tried to synch again, choosing nothing, i.e. no songs, in the hope these would be removed.
NO.
So I have a Pad and Phone with 196 purchased songs and I cannot get rid of them.
GOING MAD!!!!! HELP PLEASE. I moved from Windows to avoid this rubbish.....

The solution in my case was to start iPhoto and let it update the library, even thu itunes was set up to sync with Aperture.

Why won't the folders in Mail sync consistently across my iMac, MacBook, iPad and iPhone?
Ok, this one is complex; here's the deal.....
I'm using a single Gmail account with Mail on an iMac, MacBook, iPad and iPhone, using Lion and iOS 5. The 4 respective 'Mails' are not synchronising consistently between each other. Here's what's going on:
Received messages are appearing in all 4 Inboxes.
If a message is deleted from any of the 4 Inboxes, it is deleted from all other Inboxes.
So far so good. But:
When I create a draft message, or delete a message from the Sent folder - iMac and Macbook sync with each other, and iPad and iPhone sync with each other, but each 'pair' won't sync with the other 'pair'.
But to complicate things further (and this is the one which is driving me up the wall), let's look at the Sent folder:
If I send a message from the iMac or Macbook, the message appears in all 4 Sent folders.
But if I send a message from the iPad or iPhone, those 2 devices will sync their Sent folders, but the message will NOT appear in the Sent folders of the iMAc or MacBook.
So what is going on there? I've spoken to numerous One-to-One staff and Apple technicians on the phone over the last 12 months, we've checked settings, I've deleted and then reinstalled the Gmail account on Mail - but no success. Please solve this for me!!The reason I asked is because keying all devices synced is exactly what it is all about.
FYI, You need to use the Mail application, but you do NOT need to use an @me.com account. It support Gmail and other mail servers. -

Sounds like you may need to re-download the entire albums from iTunes. See this KB article for how to download past purchases: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519.
I'd suggest doing it one album at a time. Delete one, download it from your purchase histor, then the next, etc. -

Why won't the iTunes app on the iPad and iPhone let me shut off new download email notifications?
I have a few new season passes. Each one came, of course, with email notifications of new episodes. I'm able to turn those notifications off through the iTunes store interface on my laptop. But when I try to shut them off on my iPhone or iPad, the app lets me get all the way to toggling the notification option to "off" and pressing "done" before saying that the iTunes store "cannot process [my] request at this time."
Here's what I've done to try and fix the issue so far:
1. Logged out of, and back into, my account on the iTunes store;
2. Turned my iOS devices off and back on again;
3. Made sure my iOS and iTunes software was completely up to date; and
4. Contacted Apple customer support.
That last option produced the following advice from Apple's representatives:
A. Log out of, and back into, your account on the iTunes store;
B. Turn your iOS devices off and back on again;
C. Update iTunes to the latest version;
D. Update your iPad and iPhone to the latest iOS version;
E. Use another app that does the same thing as iTunes;
F. Uninstall and re-install the iTunes app; and
G. Let us know if the problem persists.
When I let Apple know that (1) my account functions just fine on the full iTunes program, (2) the software on my devices is completely up to date, (3) both iOS devices continued to suffer the same problem after multiple restarts, and (4) options E-F don't appear to be possible without jailbreaking, a representative referred me to Apple's webpages on generic iPad troubleshooting. She also admonished me not to jailbreak my iPhone or iPad because they'd then be jailbroken---and that's bad.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? How did you fix it? Apart from just using the full iTunes program, that is---I don't take my laptop on the road with me when I travel, which can be for weeks at a time, so I'd like to be able to shut these notifications off through the app interface if at all possible.

How do i get pictures from my macbook to my iPad and iPhone?
I have pictures FROM my Macbook and would like to get some of them to my iPad and iPhone via iCloud. I get things from my iOS devices TO my Macbook Pro. I know I must be missing a step somewhere and being a Techie aka Nude it is really an irritant . I recently have moved from a PC to an Apple so easily frustated when I can't sit down to a computer and take off. Please help.
If you mean by adding them to photostream, just select the photos you want to add in iPhoto and choose photostream from the share menu.

Two calendars in my list of seven are not correctly syncing between my iMac and my ipad & iPhone. Also, the two calendars appear in my iCloud list with alert symbols after the (triangle with exclamation mark) whereas others in list show a "broadcasting" symbol. I don't know how to find out what these alerts are.
I have noticed problems in syncing special recurring events....I.e I am able to set up a 'last Friday of each month" on my iMac, but it doesn't appear on my iPad or iPhone. And I note I can't set up a special recurring event on my iPad or iPhone. What can I do to solve this? Is this a known flaw in iCal?

I have to say that, even after doing all that, my problem seems to recur at random with no obvious trigger - and it is even more bizarre because, like you, not all calendars or events are affected. Sometimes, different events within the same calendar are duplicated whereas others aren't!
And just how the iPad seems to pick up events which no longer appear in iCal is beyond me - presumably somewhere in a plist or old cache file but, as I said, no-one has any idea what or where!
No-one has managed to explian why my problem occurs or, indeed, just what is happening, but at least I now know how I can correct it, albeit via tedious series of steps.

Many thanks!iCloud should not cause duplicate entries in Calendars unless you are syncing using iTunes as well as Wi-Fi. No need for both.

Syncing photos from iTunes to my iPod Classic and iPhone
Hi, here is the issue....when im syncing my iPod and iPhone, everything syncs over except my photos. Under the photos tab the box is checked and the folder is chosen on what I want to sync, but iTunes is not sending them. I didn't have this problem originally and the photos were syncing to my iPod just fine. When I upgraded my iTunes, now the photos are missing on my iPod and they will not sync to the new iPhone (which I love!!) Any suggestions?

After buying a new Mac, I migrated my settings (because there were w a lot of apps) and generally everything's working. Except when I try to sync my iPad or iPhone, I get the following error:
iTunes could not backup the (device) ... because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iPad
A few notes
It does work with a new account, just not this one, so there's some setting somewhere that probably needs to go
I did repair disk permissions
I tried to reset preferences via mv *iTunes* to a backup folder in <user>/Library/Preferences
There are no backups on this machine (if you go to iTunes / Settings / Devices the "device backups" list is empty)
It still feels like something is pointing somewhere invalid, but I have no idea how to reset it.The problem turned out to be a symlink to a folder that pointed nowhere where the backups were stored.
I seriously doubt many people are going to run into this issue, but hey, there you go, another thing to watch out for are symlinks if you transfer your settings to a new machine.
The reason before was that I was clearing out space on a SSD, and backups took up enough room. -
Why does itunes only recognize my ipad and iphone as a camera?
I have follwed all of the tools in the support menu and my itunes account will only recoginze my iphone and ipad as a camera, It won't allow me to sync them because it keeps being recognized it as a camera.....any advice you could give me would be appreciated. I am out of options........and patience

ITunes app hangs on iPad and iPhone
Is anyone having issues with the iTunes app freezing/hanging on iPhones or iPads when trying to view content or view search results? I am having trouble on both my iPhone 4 and iPad (3rd gen). I can't view album, movie or TV show details, purchase content or scroll on album detail pages. I am running iOS 5.1.1 but experienced the same issue prior to this update.
Make sure airplane mode is off, as I mentioned above.
go to settings/general/reset/reset network settings
then, go to settings/itunes and app stores and sign out of accounts
reboot the devices
then go back to settings/itunes and app stores and sign back in
go back to purchased tab
