Synchronizing Outlook calendar, surname first name problem

Some calendar entries re-sync every time I synchronize my 8707v with Outlook 2007. For example, when I first sync one calendar entry would change in outlook, I accept the change, then the next day when I sync again for the second time the same entry would change in my device.
The problem seems to be mainly occurring when I get invites to meetings over the internet. I get a conflict resolution where the only difference is that the Outlook value is John Smith; SMTP and the Device value is Smith, John; SMTP. Everything else is the same.
I've tried various ideas with no luck. I just have to wipe clean the device memory periodically by syncing one way. Many thanks for your help.

I think I have managed to work it out now so try this.
Open Blackberry  Desktop Software and select Organizer. Select configure settings; Advanced; I was having problems with Calendar so I selected it's Tab and then clicked on Map Fields.  Scroll down the device list until you find Attendees. Double click the entry to remove the sync arrows. This worked for me, hope it does for you!

  • Surname, first name in GAL

    Dear beekeepers,
Outlook has an option to present all entries in the address book formatted like "surname, first name".
Can the GAL (global address list) be configured accordingly?
    Regards, Thomas

    David,
also found nothing regarding gal displayname configuration in the
    admin guide.
Regarding searches in Zimbra gal: we also have an SR open, where we
    describe the problem as follows:
finding users in the gal via zimbra works, but if the user wants to
search for surname, he needs to wildcard it using the percentage
    sign.
    Here is a gal entry:
beehive@garamond:~> beectl list_users --email [email protected]
    Display Record: 1
    ===========================================
    User Identifier: user=ulasch
    Family Name: Ulasch
    Given Name: Gerda
    Addresses
    =============
    Type: BUSINESS_1
    Value: im:[email protected]
    Type: BUSINESS_1
    Value: mailto:[email protected]
    Parent Identifier: enpr=emb
When a Zimbra user wants to adress this user using the surname
(Ulasch) in the gal, he needs to enter "%ulasch" in the search
    dialogue.
This is sub-optimal in terms of usability: a substring search
should be default. At least the wildcard operator should be an
    asterisk.
    Regards, Thomas

  • View of Contacts surname, first name NOT first name, surname

Required is the view of contacts with surname, first name.
This is impossible to adjust and a No-Go for business.

While that is currently not possible in the contact listing view, it could be updated in a future upgrade. I hope it will be.

  • Synchronizing Outlook calendar when accessing through a web portal

Can someone point me in the right direction?  I am trying to give one of my Blackberry users the ability to synchronize his calendar from his laptop.  He is accessing his Outlook calendar through a web portal to our secure network.  Does this software have the capability or does someone know what software would allow this to happen?  I don't see that as an option when configuring the software.  Because Outlook isn't really launching on his laptop

  • Synchronizing Outlook Calendar – Bold days

    Hi!
When I synchronize the phone (Nokia 9300) with MS Outlook 2000 the appointments are correctly transferred from the phone to the outlook calendar, BUT days with appointments does not show in bold in the outlook calendar.
However, if the appointment is changed in the outlook calendar (changing the starting time, for instance) and saved after that, the day will then show in bold.
Does anybody have an idea about how to solve this?
    Thanks!

    Hi guys
I just "solved" this problem for a client using the information on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/197483:
    - Start Outlook with the flag /cleanfreebusy
    - Bold dates will be fixed
It seems that the bold dates would only not appear if Outlook was open during the synchronisation, by the way.
Hope this is helpful to some of you.. Drop a reply with your results!

  • Synchronizing Outlook calendar with my BB Curve 9300 calendar

I have problems in setting up synchronization of my Outlook calendar on my PC with the BB calendar. According to the handbook, one has to open the calendar on the BB and then select "Options". Then one should activate synchronization by ticking "wireless sychronization" [Note: translation from German handbook; expression may be different from English version]. However, no such tickbox shows on my BB. What did I miss?

    Hello,
Your BB has no ability to synchronize anything with your PC/Outlook wirelessly. None. All synchronization capabilities are between your BB and your email server. If you are BES, your BES admins can configure it. If you are not BES, then it is limited to GMail and Yahoo, I believe.

  • Synchronizing Outlook Calendar with Phone -- Autom...

Windows XP  SP3,  Outlook 2003, PC Suite 7.1.26.0, Nokia 6102i phone.
So, I have the phone syncronization set-up to synchronize calendar 1 week prior and 2 months after.
I had assumed that this would remove old appointments from the phone.  It does not, and now the calendar memory is full.
I know that My Outlook calendar has these old appointments still in it.
Even if I remove them, I don't think the sync software will see it as a conflict requiring resolution by deleting, even if I crank up the sync option to multiple months before.
Any tips on automatically deleting these old appointments, even if it is phone-side?  Manually deleting hundreds is not my idea of a fun saturday...
    Thanks

Nokia has helped me with a solution...
    My previous sync settings were:
    1. automatic synchronisation - do not synchroniseautomatically 2. conflict resolution - Microsoft outlook 3. Direction - updatein both directions 4. Sync profile - empty
I have now created a sync profile on the phone and haveset the same one on PC sync (not sure if that did anything)
I also changed the Direction setting to: Delete allmobile phone data and replace it with outlook data
    And have run a sync.
This has worked to delete all old outlook emails etc. Ican see that I will need to do this every now and again to ensure that thephone doesn't get full of old entries.
I will now return the sync setting to - update in bothdirections. Until I need to do it again.
    Thanks for your help everyone.

  • Synchronizing Outlook Calendar and Contacts with Blackberry Q10

I got a new Blackberry Q10 device and wanted to synchronize it with my Outlook calendar and contacts on my notebook. I installed Blackberry Link on the notebook. But in a pop down menu I was only allowed to choose from 2 pst-files which are not the correct ones. The one I want to choose is in another folder. But how can I select this one to synchronize with?
Thanks for your help. And sorry for the silly question, but I am only a very normal user without any specific know how.
    Kind regards
    Malika

    Hey MalikaBauer,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
Is the Microsoft Outlook profile that you're currently trying to access on an Microsoft Exchange server or is hosted at a different location?  If so, you will not be able to access that PST with BlackBerry Link.
BlackBerry Link currently only supports local PST files.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
    Cheers.

  • Outlook calendar sync 2.1 problem

I updated to 2.1 and iTunes 8.0 over the weekend and now cannot sync calendar events from Outlook with my iPhone and vice versa. I never had this problem before I did the updates but I cannot go back now, any help?

I am using Office 2007 with Win XP Pro, SP3. I've had no issues with calendar or contact sync. Is one working and not the other? Have you tried to reset the sync history in iTunes? You might also try to click replace the information on your iPhone for the one sync and see what happens. I'm running 2.1 on a 1st Gen phone and have only had one small issue with sync, and resetting the sync history fixed it. I think it might have had to do with the fact I had just created a contact before I upgraded. See if that helps.

  • Synchronizing Outlook Calendar entries with a Torch 9800

I have a customer with a Torch 9800 who is suffering a problem so severe that I can't believe it's a problem that RIM have ignored so I'm assuming there must be a solution.
The problem is that when Intellisync synchronizes the Torch, all Calendar appointments (other than recurring ones) older than 2 months are deleted - not only from the Torch (which is mildly acceptable), but also from Outlook (which is 100% totally unacceptable).  These entries are unrecoverable and the customer's historical records have been competely destroyed!!!   If this is not a bug I can't imagine who on God's Earth thought this might be a good idea!!!
Whilst I recognise that "synchronise" suggests that both devices should end up the same I also recognise that storage limitations in the Torch may be unable to cope with the volume of appointments stored over the years in Outlook but I see no reason for such limitation - if that is the reason.
The settings for Intellisync are currently set to 365 days, both past and future, but this seems to be ignored with the 2 month past history being the limit imposed without choice.
If someone can shed any light is this issue I would be most appreciative.
    Regards
    Dave

  • Synchronizing Outlook Calendar

I have tried to sync my calendars. When I click on the Calendar option in iTunes, it automatically opens Outlook. However, when I click Apply, a few moments later, I get a message that the calendar cannot be synchronized because Outlook is open and to close Outlook. Outlook gets closed and then nothing happens....I can't engage the Apply key. I must be doing something wrong. Any ideas?

  • Nano 'Contacts' - Surname, First Name

Hi, I've managed to export my Windows Contacts to my Nano, using "iPodSync" after problems using the itunes prog, but they've come through as 'Bill Smith' when the way I want them displayed (and the way I have them in Outlook) is 'Smith, Bill' (the itunes prog did this also). Anyone know if it's possible to display them the way I want. Thx in anticipation

On iPod, go to Settings > Contacts menu. You'll be able to select to display and sort contacts by either First, Last or Last, First.

  • Outlook Calendar Email Display Name and Reply to Name

I need help to change the display email address and reply-to-email address used when I create and send calendar invitations from Outlook.
    Here is my setup.
I am using Outlook 2013 that is connected to an Exchange server.
    I have 2 email systems.
My main email system is NOT using Outlook.  All of my emails flow through, as an example, [email protected]
Outlook is used only for my contacts and calendar.  For this email let's call it [email protected]
Right now when I send a calendar invite it comes from [email protected] and the reply-to-address is [email protected]
I would like the "from name" and "reply-to" name for all calendar invites to be displayed at [email protected]
My [email protected] will redirect all calendar invites to [email protected]
How can I configure Outlook to do this?

So to my understanding there are 2 different email systems: one handling the @email1.com, based on Postfix/sendmail/Exchange/<other mail server> and one handling the @email2.com based on Exchange.
If you add an accepted domain in your Exchange organization - @email1.com - then you'll be able to add the [email protected] address to the list of email addresses stamped on your Exchange mailbox. Following this, the recently added address can be specified
as reply-to address (Primary SMTP Address). On the other email system, you'll have to use @email1.com as an internal relay accepted domain (similar to the notion described
here) and configure a connector to send email to the Exchange organization for @email2.com. As for the forwarding itself - if that system is also Exchange - the 'targetAddress' attribute could be used, which will instantly forward the email to the '[email protected]'
value that should be stamped inside (see
this link); if a different email system, then the equivalent feature of 'targetAddress' should be used.
Yet the whole setup is cumbersome to say at least. Could you give more details about what is it you're trying to achieve at a higher level ?

  • Problem: software changes my Outlook contact info when synchronizing (cuts off part of first name)

When I sync, the BB software cuts off part of the first name of my Outlook contacts.  The problem seems to happen when I have a space in the first name (eg: First Name - Bill & Jane).  I have several of my contacts listed that way so I can see spouses of contacts easily.  I have never had this problem before with my other MS Op phone.  Thanks for your help.
Message Edited by friedchicken on 01-05-2009 01:23 AM

    I found out what happens.
Wherever the First Name filed on the BB contains a Blank (or Space) character, when synchronizing to MS Outlook, the content of the field is divided in two parts: the first part, before the Blank, is transferred to the Outlook First Name field, the second part, after the Blank, is transferred to the Outlook Middle Name  field.
This goes beyond the useser's intentions and is a nuisance, becuase you can of course turn around the problem after synchronization, by exporting the MS Outlook contacts to MS Access, or MS Excel, put the two fields together, and reimport them into MS Outlook. But you need to do that each time yoy synchronize.
It would be nice if RIM could fix the issue.
