Syncing 2:16 minutes at a time
Inherited my wifes iPhone 4 and been trying to sync my iPhone data to it and hopefully have it replace my 3gs. Did a wipe and restore without a hitch. But when I try to sync the data/apps/etc, either via iCloud or iTunes (I've settled into iTunes/USB) the iPhone syncs for about 2 minutes 16 seconds (yes I've timed this) and then reboots. After it restarts, I can download another 2 minutes and 16 seconds worth of data and then it restarts. I've almost downloaded all the old data, photos, music, etc, by now. But I thought this was odd behaviour. Maybe someone else out there has experienced this or can otherwise tell me if this is indicative of a particular problem.
I am sure it is hardware related, but I just don't know where exactly, and if it is reparable or not. Not that I would pay to repair it (it would probably be cheaper just to get a new phone. It is ourt of warranty, too. So if this is reparable, it would be a personal project.

Syncing Takes 15 minutes or More!
Twice now, when syncing, itunes has taken a long time to back up my phone and the sync is relatively short. This is a new iPhone and I've got over 28gb free. There's not much on it.
Are such long syncs typical? Most syncs are much shorter.Backups should take on average 15~20 seconds, more if you have numerous photos in your camera roll, a corrupted backup stored on your computer, apps with large amounts of data that's not managed properly or corrupted data on your phone. In your case, I'd suspect the phone call that interrupted your backup may have corrupted that backup currently on your computer. That's not supposed to happen, but it does. So, delete all of your existing backups and start over again. If you don't have any itunes content on your phone, you might even try restoring as a new device to eliminate any corrupted files on your phone. Your first backup(after you delete any existing backups) will take perhaps several minutes, certainly no longer than that. Subsequent backups will be much quicker. I've got a 32gb 3Gs over half filled & my backups take no more than 10~15 seconds. But, I don't keep any photos in my camera roll, I regularly sync(the first thing done when you sync is a backup), if my backup times increase, I identify the culprit(usually an app), contact the developer and if not fixed, I delete the app. Backups, after that first one, are incremental in that only the data that has changed is backed up. So, sync regularly, keep photos out of your camera roll & imported to your computer & watch for misbehaving apps.

I purchased songs from iTunes Radio on my iPhone, but now the only place they will show up is in the iTunes Store app on my phone, even after syncing to my computer a million times, the songs do not show up in my library or anywhere else. My phone is not syncing properly, I wanted to add another playlist to it that I created on my Mac. I pluged in my phone and made sure the playlist I wanted to add was checked to be on my phone when I synced.
The playlist I wanted to add was "Country." It is clearly checked. I also wanted to add the "Recently Added" playlist, which I also checked before sycing. Currently, my phone only has the "Purchased" playlist and my "All Songs" playlist on it. When I hit sync, iTunes added another playlist automatically added another playlist to the list above and checked it. It was titled "ALL SONGS 1" and had ten fewer songs in it than the playlist I had created, "ALL SONGS" had. This playlist, however does not show up on my phone after syncing, nor does "Country" or "Recently Added." (Every time I sync, another playlist is created as "ALL SONGS 2, 3, 4, etc.") One of the songs (I have not, yet checked the other songs) that I purchased from within iTunes Radio shows up in the "ALL SONGS 1" on this screen:
But does not show up anywhere else. This playlist does not show up anywhere but the two screens above. The ALL SONGS 1 or 2 playlists do not show up here:
When I search for those song in my library, it shows that I do not have them:
But if I go to the iTunes store, I get the play button and not the price of the song:

"Summertime Sadness," one of the songs I bought from iTunes Radio, does not show up in the iTunes store under purchased "All" or "Not on This iPhone"
But, it does show up under "Recent Purchases"
Also, this is what playlists are on my phone after syncing a million times:

Galaxy Note II Unresponsive for minutes at a time
I'm on my 3rd galaxy note 2. My first one had an overheating problem that caused the battery to last for 2 hours even though it was idle. They ended up replacing it for me. My 2nd one was actually perfect. I had zero problems with it for nearly a year until the day after the 4.3 update, the screen went off and never came back on. I just got my replacement about a week ago and I'm having an issue with the screen becoming unresponsive for minutes at a time.
I factory reset the phone yesterday thinking that maybe I had a rogue app installed but it seems that any time I try to launch a game or if I try to browse the internet while an app is updating, the phone is unusable for a few minutes. It's like it can't multitask. Eventually it'll come back with the phone at my home screen with my background image gone, but eventually it comes back too. It's similar to when windows explorer crashes and it reloads. I'll go through the same process for 2 or 3 more times before the game finally launches or the internet browser is finally usable.
Before I call this phone defective, I was wondering if it's a problem related to 4.3 that I should be aware of? I installed a monitor and it looks like with no apps open, from a fresh reboot my ram is 50-80% used which doesn't leave much room for opening apps or playing games. I even installed a virus protection and scanned for a virus (i know viruses on smartphones is a stretch) and it returned no issues.
Any ideas? I could factory reset it again, but I just did that last night and it didn't help still having the same problem with very minimal apps reinstalled. One note, I factory reset it with the restore from backup functionality turned off, so the apps I did install were from scratch, not my google account.I decided to call in. I tell the rep my problems and he tells me to launch the phone in safe mode. Done. I could reproduce the issue. It then says wifi unstable. The phone freezes with wifi on. Tells me to turn the wifi off. No more freezing while in safe mode, I guess wifi is the problem didn't think that was an issue before. He tells me that wifi issues have been reported but none of those issues cause the phone to freeze, he said that samsung told them to tell customers to turn that feature (ie: wifi) off until the next software update. He said samsung is working on a fix for the wifi issues but said there's no eta. I asked him for his gut feel and he said phones that are newer than 18 months normally get priority, given that the note 2 was release in november of 2012 and we're in 2014, that he estimated 3-4 months for the next update. I know I can't hold him to that but even if he's right, I have to leave wifi off for 3-4 months?...Now to the best part, "Since there is no freezing with wifi off in safe mode, and in safe mode the phone behaves in the state samsung designed it to be in, I've determined that it's not a hardware or operating system issue, so there's nothing I can do for you. I'm sorry I couldn't send you a new phone or resolve this problem for you, I hope you find a solution for the software issue you're having, good night."
Rather than get mad I realized I wouldn't get anywhere with him so I didn't try to push the issue. I know I have unlimited data so it's not that big of deal, but wouldn't you consider the phone not working regularly with wifi turned on a hardware or os system problem? It's not like I can uninstall and reinstall wifi. The drivers are embedded in the system and since it's a refurb phone, who's to say that the parts that were refurbed are really factory oem?
Now I'm stuck with a phone that is unusable randomly for 3-5 minutes using the phone normally with the mobile network/wifi because the agent didn't consider the problem to be hardware or os related and the only way to keep it from having issues is to not turn on wifi and keep the phone in factory default settings.
I'm not going to threaten to leave or go somewhere else because it would serve no purpose, maybe that's why there was no attempt made to help me other than saying no from the beginning of the conversation, but in my 15 years of being a loyal customer, you would think "i hope you find a solution on your own" would be after sending me a new device if the problem persisted. -
How do you transfer voice memos to your pc? I have synced my phone a number of times and everything updates with the exception of voice memos? Also, my voice memos are checked to be synced everytime my phone is synced.
Voice memos, once correctly synced, will appear under your Music Library. Can you go through your music library to check?

My HP Touchsmart died the other day. My husband works on computers as a hobby and was able to get me up and running on a Dell laptop in no time. I have an iPhone 4s and had all my apps on itunes on my HP. I understand that you can only have your iPhone apps synced to one computer at a time, but what do you do when the computer containing all your info is in unusable condition? I have tried deauthorizing all the computers associated with my account, that did not work. I had this problem once before and finally ( after much blood sweat and tears ) was able to deauthorize the old computer, but it was in working order. Two of the computers that are listed under the iTunes Wi-Fi Sync setting are no longer in use, the HP had my apps synced to it and the other had everything else except my photos, which are on a third computer that is still in use. Please forgive for information overload but am trying to give all the info that I think could be relevant. Your help would be appreciated so much!

i really don't know what i did wrong. i logged into itunes using my husband's id, then bought some movies. but for some reason, it downloaded them to my library, not his. now i can't put them on the ipod. is there any way to get them out of my library and into his library? i tried home sharing, but it still won't let me sync them to the ipod
Copy the movie from the current library to the correct library.
iDevices can only sync to one library at a time. -
i spend a long time to try to sync my itunes music on my ipod 160 GB Classic, but after waiting so long get a pop up message that itunes stop syncing because of error 46, some times giving me 58, 1469, and many other numbers, please help am using macbook pro
That is precisely what my mid-2010 MacBoook Pro 13 was doing before the drive finally died after an Apple Genius rebooted it a dozen or so times. I have since read about the exact same thing happening to others, including a writer for The Atlantic magazine who had never had an issue with a Mac before. Do a back-up ASAP to make sure you don't lose anything and see about replacing the HDD. It is only about $140 for a new drive. The real issue is if you lose your data, too. So, make sure you do that back-up!

i and my brother have different apple id's but are using the single itunes library on our home PC.When i am syncing my iphone most of the times the apps that were purchased with my brothers apple id is also getting on my iphone.

My iphoto quites unexpectedly everytime I open it and says closes while using the eOkaoFr.dylib plugin. Does anyone know how to fix this? iphoto won't stay open for more than 1 minute at a time. Help anyone?

Spinning wheel stays on for several minutes at a time, can't connect to app store
Hi I have an imac, about two years old. It has recently started freezing constantly, can't connect to the app store and the rainbow spinning wheel stays up for several minutes at a time regardless of what apps are open or what I'm trying to do. Safari will work for a minute or two then will say it can't connect, I then have to quit the app then open it back up to have it fail again shortly after. I've cleared out my cache, started it in safe mode, done the disk repair through disk utility, done virus scans and nothing has helped. It started doing it suddenly - fine one day then not the next - but I haven't put any new apps on or made any changes I can think of that might be the cause. Can anyone help?
One possibility is that your hard drive is failing. If you don't have backups of any data you don't want to lose, that needs to be your number one priority. Get that data backed up. Once you have done that, you can start exploring options.
Open Disk Utility, select your hard drive and take a look at the SMART status:
If it says anything other than Verified, the drive is definitely failing. If it says Verified, all that means is that it isn't failing in a way that the drive can detect. -
I am trying to transfer my purchases from my iPhone 5 to my new Mac computer. I get the message stating that it can only be synced with one computer at a time. I have tried the 2 other ways and I get no options to transfer my purchases. Help?
If you see Devices in the big list on the left-hand side of iTunes, it should show the name of your iPhone right below it. You can right-click (or hold ctrl and left click) on the name of the iPhone there, and choose "transfer purchases from iPhone".
If you're on iTunes 11, you won't see the big list of the left until you go to the View menu at the very top (where you see iTunes/File/Edit/View/etc) and choose Show Sidebar. Then do the same thing: right-click or ctrl and left-click on the iPhone's name below Devices and "transfer purchases from iPhone".
It'll ask you to authorize the computer for your Apple ID if you haven't yet; to do that, you just type your Apple ID and password in when it asks. If it says you are not authorized but doesn't automatically give you an option to do so, then you can go to the Store menu at the very top and choose "authorize this computer". -
My Dell laptop hard drive crashed - when I go to sync my iPhone it says that my phone is already synced with another computer and can only be synced with one computer at a time. When I hit sync is says it will erase my phone and sync with the new computer which is blank. How do I get my phone to sync my contacts, pics, apps etc. over to my new hard drive without losing anything.
Yes, so what's confusing... Did you not restore the backup of your data, contacts, pics, apps, music, etc. to the new hard drive after you replaced it or reformatted it or whatever you did? If so, then you can just sync your data back.
If not, please try searching the forum. This has been addressed hundreds of times here. -
i was mid facetime call and my phone turned off and wouldnt turn on until i plugged it in. then the date was wrong,it said no service, and wont let me turn wifi on. also it wont stay on for more than a few minutes at a time. Help?
Sounds like a hardware failure.
Make an appointment at the genius bar and take it in for them to look at. It will probably need to be replaced. -
My mac os frequently freezes for one to two minutes at a time. I have uninstalled and reinstalled flashplayer 11.3 several times because I sometimes get a crash report on flashplayer. I would like other suggestions as to what more I can do.
