Syncing Apps Problems

I'm having such problems syncing apps especially when they are purchased on my phone. I haven't been able to get one single app that was purchased on my phone to automatically sync back to my computer. I can see during the sync it says at the top if iTunes "Transferring purchases from my phone to computer", but nothing ever happens. When I get updates on my phone they don't work anymore, message says to get them on your computer next time you sync. The only way I get updates to work is to manually remove the original app, uncheck it itunes to remove it, then add it back like a new app. This is the only method that works without generating errors. I have also tried in itunes, file, transfer purchases back to itunes, but this doesn't work either. The progress bar looks like it is working but then none of the apps are in itunes.
I'm using a MBP on the latest OSX version.
Any advise would be appreciated.

Same problem here. Having been a long time Palm user, I really miss the ability to adjust conduit direction, ie: Phone--->Desktop, or Desktop--->Phone.
I have ceased downloading applications to the phone, and only download from iTunes on my desktop, then sync the phone to the desktop.
IMHO, the iPhone integration into iTunes is not the best.

  • Problems syncing apps with 10.3.1

recently i have had problems syncing app updates on my ipad since i updated to 10.3.1. i did a restore on the ipad thinking that there was a problem with the operating system. it froze during the restore and every time i tried after that. i was able to restore on a different computer with an older version of itunes and was able to sync apps from that computer. i tried to sync apps again on the origional computer and when i do it takes an hour for them to all load on but at the end i get an error that says some of the apps in your library were not installed on the ipad because one or more errors occured.  i have reinstalled itunes several times and also reinstalled the apple moble device drivers. every time i trie to sync apps i use a new back up file so there would be no corrupted files. i have also gone to apple and they gave me a new ipad. please help i dont know what to do.

i have downgraded to versio 10.2.2 and i still have the same issues. I have also tried deleting then redownloading the apps to see if a new version will correct the problem however i have had no success. please tell me every idea that you might have to fix the problems i am having.

  • Problems with syncing apps

Recently my computer crashed so I restored it to its original state. Now, when i try to sync my iPhone the apps don't sync. On the App page in iTunes there are no apps listed on the left side of the screen and the screenshot of my iPhone is somewhat grayed out so I can't move apps around and i can't even select a different page to view.
The check box by Sync Apps above where the list of apps should be is unchecked. If i check the box it says that the apps from the computer will overwrite the apps on my phone and since there are no apps on the computer it appears like it will delete everything except the original iPhone apps. All the homescreens (on the screenshot on the right side) go blank - as though everything will be deleted - except for the original apps.
Where are the apps supposed to be backed up on the computer? I thought I used to have a fairly easy way to access the folder where the apps are synced to but i can't remember how to get to them. In my iTunes library there is a folder called Mobile Applications where all my apps are stored (since my last sync before my computer crashed) but they don't show up in my apps list in iTunes. Is there some way to make them show up or are they stored in the correct folder?
Or, if I set the check box to Sync Apps will that copy my apps from my iPhone to my computer that aren't saved on my computer AS WELL as overwriting ones that are on my computer (which is none as far as iTunes is concerned) onto my iPhone? There are a few paid apps that i have deleted from my iPhone but are backed up on my computer. How can I get them back since it doesn't seem to be syncing properly and iTunes isn't recognizing the folder that they are in?
I just don't want to end up having most of my apps deleted and can't get them back so before i go any further I would like some input on this.

All 3rd party apps on your iPhone should be in your iTunes library on your computer, which is the same for all iTunes content on your iPhone. Your iTunes library on your computer - the iTunes named folder in your Music folder should be included with your computer's backup along with all other important data on your computer's hard drive. The iPhone is not designed or intended to be used as a backup storage device or as an external drive for transferring data from one computer to another.
Did you lose all important data on your computer's hard drive due to this crash, or your iTunes library only?
The sync process for iTunes content is a one way transfer process only - from your iTunes library on your computer to your iPhone, and the same for photos transferred from your computer.
In regards to iTunes content, an iPhone can be synced with an iTunes library on a single computer only, and photos can be transferred from a single computer only. When transferring iTunes content and photos from another computer, all iTunes content and photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPhone first.
After restoring your computer to its original state, your computer is detected as a new or different computer. This would not be a problem if you maintained a backup for all important data on your computer which should include your iTunes library stored on an external drive or some other external media used for backup purposes only.
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iPod or iPhone, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only.
First you need to re-authorize your computer with your iTunes account with iTunes. With your iPhone connected to iTunes and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.

    Hello Violet03,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
I would recommend a few things here. If you havent already restart both your computer, and the iPad.
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
    Restarting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesnt work then close all the apps that are running on the iPad with this process:
From the Home screen, click the Home button twice.
Tap and hold on the app.
When it starts to jiggle, tap the to close it.
Double-click the Home button and try opening the app again.
From: iOS: Force an app to close
              http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
And if the issue persists it might be a good idea to backup and restore your iPad in iTunes with this article.

  • Having problems syncing apps

im unable to sync apps from my iPhone to my itunes...evertyhing else syncs fine.

Are you currently connected to a 3G network or a wifi network ? If an app is over 20 meg in size then you will only be able to download it over a wifi network, not over 3G.
And have you tried downloading the apps on iTunes on your computer and then tried syncing or dragging and dropping the apps across to the iPad device ?

  • OneDrive for Business sync app when using Office 2010

    Hi,
My clients use Office 2010. They all have SharePoint Workspace installed as well, thought, they don't use it.
As part of new SharePoint 2013 on-premise roll-out, I have to find a method to silently install OneDrive for Business into clients machines, without disruption to the use of Office 2010. They will use OneDrive for business to sync their team sites libraries
    and their personal site library.
So far, I have no success.
    What I tried:
-Standalone OneDrive Pro client exe Setup.x86.en-us_GrooveRetail_3V9N8-W93CC-FQPB8-Y9WVF-TVGJ3_TX_PR_.exe
It seems there is no way to run it silently anyway. Is there?
basically, this package still connects to the internet to download modules and it prompts user for some interaction while installing. I NEED IT SILENT.
-Building OCT package out of Office 2013 installation media. I selected to only install Groove(OneDrive) and leave existing Office product intact. Then I run it from setup.exe /adminfile //location/onlygroove.MSP
It provisions SkyDrive Pro client (note the name, I used Office 2013 without SP1 media)
    Problems with that:
1.After installing Office 2013 SP1, client name is still SkyDrive Pro 2013, but sync folder actually changed, some other user interface places are also updated
2.After silent run, Office 2010 experience problems: Outlook 2010 crushes on start 3 times, then it attempts to run repair, Repair will fix outlook, but it also sets SharePoint workspace as a default client for sync. Running Office 2013 repair will break
Outlook again. The solution is to uninstall SharePoint workspace, then run Office 2013 repair, then Office 2010 repair again - this way I have SkyDrive Pro as a sync app and Outlook 2010 working.
As you see, I have problems with having seamless silent OneDrive for Business sync app installation. Even asking clients to install it manually would be too hard for them. Annoying thing is that if you click the exe file to run, it takes about 2 minutes
before user sees anything happening on a screen. I can see users getting confused if they actually initiated a process of not!
    What am I missing ?
Any other way to provision it in bulk to my users? Any help appreciated.

I think we're all waiting on Microsoft to (quickly) address this. Its unacceptable.
It is seriously unacceptable, and I am having the same problems. Even running tests locally and I am a domain admin, I come across admin permission errors. I have tried amending the config file and creating a new one (onedrive_download.xml), creating a new
folder as a temp test and running the OneDrive for Business pack (extracted). These are the errors I get (on my own admin PC).

  • My ipod touch 4g wont let me sync apps.

I want to sync apps to my ipod but it won't let me!!
I have successfully synced apps before but just recently, i thought something was wrong because the app store dissappeared from my ipod home pages and it wouldn't let me delete apps (by holding on them and waiting for them to start shaking and by pressing the 'X' delete button).
So after this i went on the web and found out i could do it on itunes by going to my ipod and pressing the apps tab along the top. I did this and deleted the apps I didn't want.
I went to then put on some different apps and it wouldn't let me. I tried dragging the apps into the ipod as usuall but it wouldn't work. it would have what i was dragging but whenever i hovered it over my ipod it would come up with a little red stop sign on top of the app. I then went to the apps page on my ipod and it didn't look right.
As you can see it is all opaque. I didin't think it was meant to be like this. As you can see, i have .71 GB free which is usually more than enough for a couple of apps but for the problem. I dont know what to do. Please Help.

    no that is all good
    i have no restrictions
    the computer is authorized
the ipod is signed into the account
i really dont know whats going on.
i can also download apps from the app store on the ipod now but not through the computer on itunes

  • ITunes deleted all my apps after I clicked "Cancel" to sync apps

I'm at work and I wanted to do some serious app re-arranging.  Rather than doing it manually on my iPhone5, I luanched iTunes.  Note: I do *not* sync my iPhone with my work computer, but I thought maybe it could still rearrange the apps since I can see them all nicely there in iTunes.  So here were my exact steps:
    plug in my iPhone
    launch into iTunes
    click on my iPhone device
    click on the "Apps" tab
re-arrange my Apps in a different order
checked other tabs (Tones, Music, Movies, etc) and confirmed *none* are set to sync
    clicked "Sync"
Aside: Now before you jump on the "you're an idiot bus" (still quite likely), I *did* know that this might not be a great idea.  However, I  remember accidentally clicking "sync" on a foreign computer in the past, and I remember it always asked me before doing anything destructive, so I decided it was a safe thing to try.
Anyway, back to iTunes... after I clicked "Sync", this happened:
iTunes popped up a prompt saying something along the lines of "this device is not synced with this computer, if you sync apps, it will delete all the apps on the device and replace them with the apps on this computer" with options to "sync" or "cancel".
    I clicked "Cancel"
iTunes popped up another prompt saying something like "this computer is not authorized with the iTunes account for the device" with options to "authorize" or "cancel".
    I clicked "Cancel"
At this point I EXPECTED to get a message saying iTunes could not sync the device, but INSTEAD, iTunes continued doing *something*.
By the time it was done, almost all of my App Store apps were completely wiped off my phone.  What's really odd is that some were left behind.  My phone is now in this state:
native Apple apps (phone, messages, etc) and all their data (call logs, texts, etc) are still intact
almost all purchased apps are gone
none of the purchased apps that were left behind are on the computer, so that doesn't explain why they didn't get deleted with the rest
So, what the HECK happened here?  Why did iTunes destroy all my apps when I told it not to?  Has anyone else had this problem?  Is this some strange iTunes bug that there's a magical fix to get all my apps back?  Please help.
    iTunes Version: 11.1.3
    Device: iPhone5, iOS 6.1

go into the itunes store, go to your account, click purchase history. that gives you a list of all the things you have downloaded.
you will be able to re-download all your apps for free.
and for the songs, click "report problem", this will allow you to email apple, tell them that you have lost your songs, they will usually respond fairly quickly saying that they have put the songs back into your account and that they will be available to download the next time you go into itunes.

  • No app store present on iPod Touch 4th gen and can't sync apps in iTunes, tried restoring/updating

I've tried everything I know to fix this problem with no luck so far, I'm hoping someone can help. Note that iTunes has been updated to the latest version (and my friend's computer is running Windows 7, if that helps at all).
My friend has an iPod Touch 4th generation. A while back he asked me to help him get apps onto the iPod, and I discovered that the App Store on the iPod itself was nowhere to be found, nor can he remember ever having one. In addition to this, he can't sync apps onto the iPod from within iTunes - the option to sync in the apps tab is greyed out. The music/movies/etc. sync just fine, however. At the time, his iPod had iOS 4.1.
After checking for parental restrictions in his iTunes and the iPod, I found that his iPod has a restrictions password set, which he doesn't know. His parents have no memory of setting restrictions and don't know the password, either.
I read online that the only way to remove the restrictions password is to restore the iPod, and since this seemed to be a good idea anyway due to the odd issue with iTunes refusing to sync apps, we restored the iPod and updated to iOS 5.1 today. Unfortunately, the App Store is still nowhere to be found, and we still can't sync apps in iTunes. The iPod still claims a restrictions password has been set as well.
I have checked and double-checked that no restrictions are set in iTunes preferences. My friend created a new iTunes account, so that shouldn't be the problem. While we're hoping to get both iTunes sync and the iPod App Store app working properly, right now he just wants to be able to get apps onto his iPod.
Does anyone have any ideas why his iPod didn't come with an App Store app, why it still doesn't have the Store after restoring, why iTunes won't sync apps, or why the restrictions password is still set after the restore? I've honestly run out of ideas as to how to fix this.
Before I posted this, I did a little more looking online about the restrictions password, which is apparently restored along with a backup. Neither of us were present during the restore (we had to leave for a couple of hours after the restore had been started), so I'm only asking this because I don't have his iPod or computer with me at the moment to test it myself - is there a way to manually cancel restoring from a backup during the process? If so, I need to restore the iPod a second time.
In the meantime, any ideas about my other three questions?
Thanks in advance for the help.
Edit: His iTunes account is authorized, by the way.

What exactly happmens when you try? Error message?
