  • Two apple ids, two computers, one phone#-how to sync messages on on both computers

Okay apple world, I'm a bit stumped with this one: I have two macbooks, one for work (a 2009 15" macbook pro) and a personal one (2014 13" macbook air) and two apple ids, one for work and one personal one. I also have a 5S iPhone, which I use for both work and personal use. The iPhone has been set up with my personal apple id and my iMessages sync perfectly with my personal macbook air. Now what I would like to do is sync my iMessages through my phone number with my work macbook pro. But when I try to add an additional account, I am only given the option to add a google account or I am told that my (personal) apple id is already in use. Has anyone encountered this issue and do you have any tips on how to trouble shoot through this?

Sync is about synchronisation to Lightroom Mobile, the iPad/iPhone app, not about synchronising from one computer to another. There isn't really a way to sync two computers automatically, but you can use methods such as File>Export/import as Catalog, Dropbox, or copying through the operating system.

  • Two Apple IDs, Two Icloud accts, two contact data bases??

Hi all, I hope you might help me sort this mess out. Thanks in advance.
I have two Apple IDs - one of those ids is tied to iTunes and is my primary account, as it is linked to the Itunes store, my Iphone and Ipad. It has 5gb of which 4 is used for backups, etc. Aside from all my Iphone stuff, the data of importance is my contacts db that includes all my iphone contacts.
The other Apple ID was issued by Apple when I started to use MobileMe. It has a me.com address.  When Apple moved to iCloud I got this account switched and also got 25gb of space that is good until Sept 2013. I have used about 2gb of space on that.  The only data of importance on it is the contacts, and this has a mix of some Iphone contacts as well as contacts I added as I was using one of the macs.
It seems that I did not grasp the limitations of Icloud and did not notice that my macs - MBP and MBA were and are storing my contact data using different accounts. Both contacts db's are full of duplicates as well as there are approx 200+ contacts that are in one or the other contact db, but not both.
So, I think I might merge the two into one contact db, then stop using the me.com acct.
To get to this state I would presume that I should export the contacts from both accounts, then open up one of them in the contact app of my choice, then import the second export, and then do the clean up.  Then I would upload the clean file back to my primary icloud acct.
By uploading a clean contact db that is corrected and duplicate free, how do I tell icloud to replace the db that is there with the one that I am uploading?
I have found nothing in tech articles, or discussions that suggest that the approach will work -- I am unsure that by uploading a clean contact db, I will not simply duplicate the names and addresses that are already there, along with adding the 200+ contacts that are not there.
Perhaps I delete the contact db from icloud - but again I see no information on that.

Then you should be able to just do the following:
On the Mac that is syncing contacts with the me.com iCloud account you are abandoning, open your contacts and export them as a vCard (File>Export>Export vCard).  Attach this to an email and send it to yourself.
Open the email on your other Mac and double-click on the attachment to import the contacts.  The contacts should be merged with the contacts already on this Mac, as well as to the iCloud account the Mac is syncing contacts with.
You can then clean up your duplicates by, for example, opening Address Book (Contacts) on your Mac, going to Card>Look for Duplicates, then merging any duplicates it finds.
You can then go to System Preferences>iCloud on the Mac that is syncing your me.com account, sign out of that account (which will delete any synced data), then sign into the iCloud account you are keeping and check the data you want to sync (which will sync the iCloud data to this Mac).

  • Two Apple IDs on iPhone, can't accept password

I changed my Apple ID and everything appeared to be fine, but now iPhone keeps asking for old ID password? forgot password won't work.

I too have had this problem in the last month or so, but on a mac with snow leapord. The weird thing is, my wifes iPhone can connect, and mine will connect every fifth time. I don't have a firewall set up

  • How do i sync music between 2 apple ids

My wife has an apple-id and music library.
I have an apple-id and music library.
My kids iphone4S are associated with my wife's apple-id.
    My wife's laptop has died.
I am trying to connect my kids iphone4s to my itunes PC now - we purchased some new music but I am unable to add just that 1 song to her playlist.
I logged in with my wife's apple-id and authorized my PC on her account.
When I try to copy the song to the kids iphone4s it doesn't work, and when I try to sync the song it asks if I want to erase all the music on my kids iphone4s and replace it with my library which is NOT what we want to do.
Any ideas on what to do here?
I'm really frustrated with iTunes lack of real control over licenses I purchased and properly authorized, it is not user friendly.
    thanks,
    Greg

The iPhone is only able to synch with ONE iTunes library at a time.  Has always been like this.
You mention your wife's laptop died.  Certainly no one in this day and age doesn't back up their data, right?  Copy the backup of your wife's iTunes library onto a working computer.  Problem solved.
It has always been the user's responsibility to maintain the safety and security of his or her data.  You can be frustraed all you want with "iTunes lack of real control".  This has nothing to do with iTunes but everything to do with personal responsibility.
You also purchase a license when you buy a "physical" piece of music like a CD.  Is it the store's responsibility to replace your music if you lose the CD?  If anything, the store should be "really frustrated with the owner's lack of proper care of the purchase that the owner made".

  • Can I sync Notes between two separate iPhones?

My wife and I each have iPhones. They are set up on seperate iTunes/iCloud accounts as they should be. I want to know if there is a way to sync notes between the two phones. Example: If I am at the store and my wife wants me to buy eggs, she adds a new note and it pops up on my phone.
    --Phil

What you ask can only be done be using the same Apple ID for iCloud. That is not the best idea because iCloud will also merge you contacts and messages. Huge mess with that route. So I would say it's possible but I would advise against it.
    Hope that helps.

  • Can I use two apple ids on my iPhone?

Does anyone know if I can use two apple ids on my iPhone. Basically I have a problem where I can't download an app because its not available in the Australian store but I am considering starting a new apple id linked to my Hong Kong credit card so I can purchase this app
    app
if I do this will I only be able to see the apps downloaded using each particular apple id account on my iPhone at any one time...?

    wjosten wrote:
That only applies if you turn on Automatic Downloads or iTunes match.
To the OP, you can ignore Philo124's post.
No, it Applies if you download content from one then switch to another and download content from the other. Automatically or not.
    Apple Wrote:
Association of Associated Devices is subject to the following terms:
You may auto-download iTunes Auto-Delivery Content or download previously-purchased iTunes Eligible Content from an Account on up to 10 Associated Devices, provided no more than 5 are iTunes-authorized computers.
(ii) An Associated Device can be associated with only one Account at any given time.
(iii) You may switch an Associated Device to a different Account only once every 90 days.
Not sure if its only limited to past purchases or new ones as well though.

  • Is there a work around to use two Apple IDs across and iPhone and a MB Pro?

iPhone 5 and Macbook Pro Retina late 2013.  iOS 8.1 and Yosemite.
It's a company iPhone and a personal MBP.  Phone has an Apple ID associated with company credit card and MBP personal Apple ID with personal credit card.
There is a cross platform issue as you cannot use two Apple IDs in Facetime and Messages.  Therefore my iPhone and MBP do not interoperate correctly, for example, a text message in messages on the iPhone will not appear in Messages on the MBP.  Similar situation for FaceTime.  When you try to enter the second email associated with the second Apple ID on either platform you get "cannot verify because email is already in use".
    Any work arounds?
This is something Apple should have really anticipated as iPhones become more widespread in corporate use.

Thank you for your continued interest and research on my behalf on this situation. I was on the phone with Apple support (at no charge) for over an hour yesterday. Becasue I have what they cal a "vintage computer"(7 1/2 years old), there are some additional issues.  We thought it was solved at teh end of the phone call but aparently it was not. I am going to call them now and see what else can be done. I will keep you posted.
    Thanks again.

  • I have Two apple ids: one apple id will not authorize on same computer.

I just purchased a new imac. I have two apple ids. Stupid, I know.
I was able to authorize one of the apple ids on my iMac. When I try to authorize the other apple id, I get the message "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."  I keep getting this message day after day.
Also, when I hook up my new iphone 5S to my computer I also get this message "This computer is no longer authorized for apps that are installed on the iphone. Would you like to authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes store? If you do not authorize this computer, 22 apps, including "Airport", and their data will be deleted from this iphone."  I get the choices: cancel, Don't Authorize, or Authorize.  So, I click Authorize, I put in my apple ID and password and get the message "We cold not complete your itunes store request. The itunes store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later." This is when I try to sign in with my apple ID that I can not seem to authorize.
I deauthorized both apple ids from my old imac.
    Any help would be appreciated!

  • I have two Apple IDs - one associated with iPad and iPhone and the other associated with iMac and MacAir. I am going to lose the former e-mail address imminently and would like to associate all devices with just one ID. How do I do this? Thanks

I have two Apple IDs - one associated with iPad and iPhone and the other associated with iMac and MacAir. I am going to lose the former e-mail address imminently and would like to associate all devices with just one ID. How do I do this? Thanks

Thanks - I guess it is like there were two of me!
I bought the iPhone first and it seemed natural to link it to the (work) e-mail address which was in constant use. The iMac for home use came next and it seemed natural to use my home e-mail address, particularly as I knew by then that I would lose the work address after my imminent retirement. The same logic went for the recent puchase of the MacAir. I am not sure what happened with the iPad (also a recent purchase) - iTunes seemed to puch me towards the same ID as the iPhone.
It is not a huge problem - just makes my persona look schizoid! Otherwise very happy with everything Apple.

  • Iphone 5s I had two apple IDs from the original switch to mobile me

When I purchased my iphone 5s I had two apple IDs which were supposed to be recognized as one because I switched it to a me.com from mac.com but used the same prefix. I was told that my [email protected] was going to be the same as my [email protected] and to just start using my [email protected] that that information would be the same...not! Lost all of my new mobile me itunes songs, and got all of my way old email from when I first switched to mobile me from mac.  Can I still get my old songs on my itunes so I don't have to buy them back? I don't want to lose my current itunes library...

Yes you can.  Use the Apple ID the items were purchases under
    then follow
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
Note Apple doesn't allow the Mac.com or the Me.com addresses to be renamed.

  • I have two Apple IDs and when I got an Iphone 6, only the apps from one Apple ID are on the phone. How do I get my other apps on there?

I (stupidly) have two Apple IDs and when I got an Iphone 6, only the apps from one Apple ID are on the phone. How do I get my other apps (from my old Iphone 4) on my new Iphone? Thanks

You can use the same appleid that you purchased the apps with on the phone for the App store. Settings> iTunes & App Store and continue to use the other id for everything else allowing you to have access to your previously purchased apps. You can then either sync or download the apps without paying for them again.
It can be quite handy having two appleids - it can be quite useful if you can manage them correctly. One id for the store and one for imessage is good for privacy if you have the same id in use on another device.

  • Switching between two Apple IDs - 90 day wait?

I have been smoothly transitioning between two apple IDs on iTunes for the last year. I have just switched from PC to Mac and suddenly there's a message that states I have to wait 90 days before I can associate another Apple ID with this device. I don't really understand what this means, especially since I've already successfully logged in to both Apple ID accounts in iTunes on my new Mac.  I don't want to wait 90 days every time I buy something from one account before it will let me buy something from the other (is this what this means?)  I'd really appreciate an explanation from the learned Mac-user community.  Thanks so much for your help!

    annikaaus wrote:
Thank you, I did find that information myself, but it didn't really make things clearer to me.  Once the 90 days is up will I be able to switch back and forth as I please? Or do I have to wait 90 days every time I want to switch IDs?
You can switch back & forth now as you please for new purchases (not for redownloading). 90 days is for redownloading.
    iTunes prefs > Store.
    Uncheck Automatic Downloads.
And why wasn't I aware of this wait time on my old PC device?
You never saw this because Automatic Downloads was not ticked.

I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on exactly what device you are trying to set up and what is happening when you try to do so. If you are having issues remembering your Apple ID, or feel like you may have set up multiple Apple ID's, you may find the following page helpful:
