SyncMaster 2343BW won't connect via DVI from Radeon 2600XT

VGA works but I only get 4:3 resolutions.
Via DVI, the screen isn't seen by the computer (nor by me, but in black!). I verified the cable with another screen.
I tried:
- each of the DVI ports
- VGA coupled with DVI (as it was recommended in some forums)
I checked the SOURCE switch (manual: digital/analog or auto).
Nothing worked.
What is the problem?
NB: Samsung SyncMaster 2343BW is a 2048x1152 16/9 screen.

More facts:
1) I neither succeeded to connect the screen via DVI to a PC-XP. It doesn't even appear during the BIOS initialization (no Windows logo: only black screen)
2) I tried switchRes but unfortunately it doesn't provide the 2048x1152 resolution as standard and I can't imagine setting all the parameters to create a new resolution. I'm a bit frightened by all this...

  • Macbook Pro won't connect via DVI

    Hello all,
My Macbook Pro suddenly won't connect to any monitor using a DVI connection. If I use a VGA monitor (via my DVI to VGA connector), everything is dandy, but connecting directly to a (i.e.) Samsung or an Apple Monitor via DVI, the OS just blinks once (like if there is a connection), but the display is not being detected and is not turned on. I tried to delete all display preferences and I've zapped the PRAM without any result.
Before I send the powerbook in for repair (my fear is that it's the DVI-connector that's broken), I just wanted to see if there's anybody out there who have had similar problems, that perhaps could be solved via software (i.e. the system)...
    Cheers,
    Massimo

I am having the same problem as the rest on this thread. My VGA works fine in most cases, but my DVI will not work with any amount of prodding. Also, I have been trying to make use of matrox dualhead2go's and triplehead2go's, but these will not function correctly unfortunately. I got the whole logic board replaced a year after I got this laptop because it had strange display issues (the old red/blue square problem) but I'm far out of warranty now.

  • DMP4310 won't connect via DVI

I tried all possible possibilities to have the player display content on a Samsung LCD screen. I am using a DHMItoDVI adapter to connect the DMP through its HDMI cable. Autodetection fails. I tried Autodetection and configured the attributes manually I still don't get a signal.
In DMP-DM user guide I noticed the following:
MP 4310G Notice Regarding HDMI/DVI Effects on Autodetection
A corner case exists that is mildly disruptive. It is not likely to affect your organization. To understand this corner case, assume that all of the following statements are true simultaneously.
    •Your DMP model is 4310G.
•Your presentation system's media signal interface is DVI, not HDMI.
•EDID data in the firmware for your presentation system misrepresents its native resolution.
•The falsely claimed resolution is an HDMI standard instead of a VESA standard.
In this case, your DMP 4310G proceeds as if the native resolution is low, to ensure that your digital sign shows anything at all.
I tried foolowing it but the same problem remains, any ideas?
    My DMP4310G firmware is 5.2.3

  • Lost the monitor after connecting via DVI

I've had an X2Gen 22" monitor connected to our G5 via DVI/VGA adapter to the VGA input on the monitor for a couple of years. Another monitor I just bought came with a DVI cord and a VGA cord. I decided to try the X2Gen/G5 connection via DVI since I now have a cable. The computer can't/won't recognize the monitor now that they're DVI connected. And screen images are ugly! I can't even calibrate it because the computer tells me it cannot identify the monitor. Any ideas anyone? (Other than going back to the VGA cable?)
    Thanks,
    Jon

Just a thought, but try zapping the PRAM. Good luck.

I have an Ipad and an Ipod Touch 5th gen both on the latest firmwares but they won't connect via Bluetooth whenever I try even though both shows that the devices are discoverable. I also tried connecting them with my Bluetooth enabled laptop but it also didn't worked. Because of the Bluetooth not working I also can't enable airdrop.

  • TV & monitor connected via DVI to VGA & DVI cable. Wont display

I have my TV & monitor connected to my mini via DVI(input) to> VGA(output) & DVI(output) splitter cable. I cant get both tv and monitor to work at the same time only one or the other. How can I get this to work?
Note: I dont want a continuous display, I just want one to show the same as the other. If there both plugged in why dont they both work?

The answer to your question would require having a block diagram of the mini's graphics sub-system. If the DAC (digital-to-analog converter) behind the VGA port is just driven from the same output as the TMDS transmitter behind the DVI port, then I agree it would be possible that both could output the same screen simultaneously. But if the VGA and DVI ports are treated as seperate channels all the way back to video memory, then likely one would be prioritized over the other, only one could be active, and they would not be able to output simultaneously.
Another potential problem is that TVs and computer monitors generally want to run at very different formats and they require different signal types to be happy. A TV will want an interlaced output whereas a computer monitor will not. And a TV will want a very low resolution, like 640 x 480, whereas a computer monitor will be happiest at a much higer resolution.
I hope for you that someone else has this working and chimes in with some practical advice. I try to avoid making posts where I have no practical advice to offer and only bad news, but in this case I thought you might want to know about some potential barriers to success. Good luck.

  • Airport extreme won't connect via Ethernet to BT homeHub v2.0

    Hi
here's what I want to do:
    1. Homehub is connected to the phoneline and will provide a b/g network for my iphone/xbox/laptop1
    2. I want to connect my airport extreme to this (from what I can tell this must be done through an ethernet cable) so that I can have a separate N network which only 1 laptop will connect to.
So the problem I have is that no matter what options I select in the airport extreme when it's connected via ethernet it tells me that nothing is connected to the Ethernet WAN port. I've tried two different cables different ports on the back of the hub etc. nothing works. Every time I search google or forums for an answer people just write "connected it via ethernet and it works great" but there's no guide to what settings to use that I can see.
Can someone please help me with some sort of noob guide to get this setup how I've stated?
    Many thanks in advance

    Hey Bob
thanks fro the quick response. I have actually tried exactly that but it still flashes orange at me I'm suspicious that the AE may have a fault because during the setup (i can't remember the exact steps) but I got the AE updated and it complained that it could read from the AE (error code was 10057). Googling this does thow up a couple of solutions which I haven't tried.
    so my steps should be:
    Factory Reset the AE
    setup as join existing network
join via ethernet to create a 2nd network
connect up the cable to the WAN port and the Lan of the Hub
    change to bridge mode.
One thing I did notice (which may or may not be related) is the subnet mask on the AE says 255.255.0.0 when I set it up like this. However when I make it just join the network without trying to create a new one (which works) it sets it to 255.255.255.0 . the IP address also begins 192.168.1.* whereas in the other setup mode it is something different. Does that matter at all?
    Thanks
    Alan

  • Macbook Air (Mid-2013) and iPhone 5s IOS version 8.1 won't connect via bluetooth, anyone know how to fix this problem?

I have a Macbook Air running OS-X Yosemite and an iPhone 5s running IOS version 8.1. Every time I try to connect the devices via bluetooth is won't connect saying my Macbook Air isn't supported when in actuality it is. Anyone know how to fix this issue? I have restarted both my Mac/Iphone and have turned bluetooth on/off and nothing seems to help. Bluetooth pairing didn't work before I updated to IOS 8.1 so I doubt that is the issue here.

Pairing an iPhone to a computer (Mac or Windows) is only supported for personal hotspot (sharing the iPhone's cellular internet connection) and then only if your cellular plan supports it. More information: Bluetooth: Why can't I pair my iPhone or iPad with my computer?

  • Desktop 6.0 won't connect via Bluetooth to 8330

I have already read the posts on this issue.  I have a supported Bluetooth device (ioGear). I am using Windows XP SP3, I have an 8330 Curve. I have tried the software that comes with the device, deleted it and tried the Windows Bluetooth stack, I have tried disabling the firewall (set an exception).  I keep having the same problem.  My computer sees my device, and my device sees the computer. When I am in DM, and try to connect I will get a brief screen on my BB that says connected to computer then it goes away and I get a message in DM that says the connection can't be made.  No matter what I do, I can not connect in DM.  If I delete everything and start all over, I get just as far, but once I get the message in DM that it can not connect it NEVER connects even though the computer and device are paired.  Any thoughts?
    Thank you,

  • Photosmart 6520 won't connect via Time Capsule

Just bought a Photosmart 6520 printer. I have tried to connect it to my wireless network via Time Capsule but the printer thinks MAC address filtering is turned on so is unable to connect. I have checked using Airport utility to make sure MAC address filtering is turned off, which it is, and all other wireless devices connect without any problem. If I move the printer around the house I can connect via an Airport Express but I don't want the printer upstairs. Seems to be a communication problem between the printer and Time Capsule. I have updated the Firmware on the Time Capsule
    Any one any ideas please?

    Hello Frustrated61,

I suggest that we restore the Network defaults from the printer menu.
