SYS, SYSTEM and SYSAUX when full database refresh.

I took full export from database using below command
expdp "'/ as sysdba'" full=Y directory=DPUMP_DIR dumpfile=expdp_11032011.dmp logfile=expdp_11032011.log Now, I need to import this file to an other database.
When do schema refresh we usually drop all the object in that schema and start refresh, but when doing fullback up, do we need to drop all user?
what about sys, system and sysaux user?

user3636719 wrote:
So, the tables in the SYS and SYSTEM will remain same when we refresh?
Structure will not be modified but contents will be automatically modified when DLL is executed when importing.
And do we have to drop other user before we import?Applications schemas that you have created should be dropped. In general don't modify any schema that is directly managed by Oracle such as SYS or SYSTEM or any schema used by some database option like Oracle Text, Oracle Spatial, etc.

  • System and sysaux tablespace

    hi,
    can anyone tell me whata system and sysaux tablespace contains, and how to manage them.

    The system tablespace
    The system tablespace is always available when a database is open (it cannot be taken offline).
    The system tablespace stores the data dictionary (or their base tables, respectively).
    The sysaux tablespace
    The sysaux tablespace is new with Oracle 10g. It is used to store database components that were stored in the system tablespace in prior releases of the database.
    Also, the tablespaces that were needed for RMAN's recovery catalog, for Ultra Search, for Data Mining, for XDP and for OLAP are going to sysaux with 10g.
    Additionally, it is the place where automatic workload repository stores its information.
    The SYSAUX tablespace was installed as an auxiliary tablespace to the SYSTEM tablespace when you created your database. Some database components that formerly created and used separate tablespaces now occupy the SYSAUX tablespace.
    If the SYSAUX tablespace becomes unavailable, core database functionality will remain operational. The database features that use the SYSAUX tablespace could fail, or function with limited capability.

    I'm with Ed and Brendan on this. 3 main reasons:
    1. Legacy has some special requirements.
    2. Definitely want different schema names, this has saved my bacon sooo many times. Even so, people still get it wrong (including me, and I'm totally paranoid about it to begin with).
    3. There are many more copies of production than actual production, for various reasons (test, several dev, special projects, future app versions...) . We would rather have one db with many schemata than many db's, right?
    Now if we could just rename user...Agreed some extent, I can say to refresh entire database the preferred method is RMAN restore, where it can manage very easily
    how?
    1) To import again we need to create a new database
    2) Need to create all the tablespaces with same names or we can use REMAP option
    3) need to monitor entire import process,
    4) need to take care of other things like , temp utilization and all.
    5) need to perform export, Need to copy those dumpfiles, We should have enough space on mount points of both source & destinations. ;-)
    I would just caution there that you shouldn't think that because you are taking rman backups you have no need to also regularly export the db. A good backup policy includes both physical backup (rman) and logical backup of the data (export).
    If you talk with couple of schemas the preferred method is EXPDP/IMPDP, totally agreed.
    If in case of database size is huge, then better to go with RMAN to refresh database. Either DUPLICATE or manual way restore.
    as ED said, still we could have chance to test RMAN backups too. Multiple advantages.
    Let me know if I'm wrong. :)

  • Oracle XE system and sysaux tablespaces

    I've got a question regarding system and sysaux tablespaces. Below are numbers from my Oracle XE database. Are these tablespaces constant or are they growing over time? I do not have any custom objects in either system or sysaux schema. If they extend is there a way to clean them up in order to reduce used space? Also, what is the impact of their size on the 4 GB XE limit?
    # TABLESPACE NAME ALLOCATED (MB) USED (MB) FREE (MB) USED (%) FREE (%)
    =====================================================================
    1.SYSAUX....................710...............696.44........13.56..........98.09..........1.91
    2.SYSTEM...................440...............429.75........10.25...........97.67......... 2.33
    Thanks,
    Art

    Both should remain relatively constant.
    The size of the SYSTEM tablespace will increase if you have many PL/SQL objects.
    Whether they can be cleaned up can't be answered in a generic way, it depends.
    They likely count to the 4 Gb limit.

    I backed up my bookmarks to an external drive, rebuilt my system, and now when I try to restore from that file, I get "unsupported file type" How can I restore from this file?

    Make sure that the backup file with the bookmarks has the correct file extension: .html for a HTML backup and .json for a JSON backup.<br />
    You can check that via the right-click context menu of that file and open the Properties.<br />
    If you are not sure about the file type then you can open the file in Firefox via "File > Open File"<br />
    A JSON backup will show as one long text line without line breaks and a HTML backup as a web page with clickable links.<br />
    A JSON backup starts with: {"title":"","id":1,"dateAdded":<br />
    An HTML backup starts with: <nowiki><!DOCTYPE NETSCAPE-Bookmark-file-1></nowiki>
    You may need to add quotes ("") around the name to rename the file to the correct file extension.

    A datafile may not be able to resize (file system full). And resizing it may cause file fragmentation of that file (on that file system).
    I prefer to add a new file, e.g.
    ALTER TABLESPACE <tablespace> ADD DATAFILE [<filename>] SIZE <size>
    When using ASM, the filename is determined (per OFA standards) by ASM itself. No need for the DBA to concern him/herself with directory structures and filenames.
    By the way, the topic of this forum is SQL and PL/SQL - not database administration. I suggest that in future you post questions like this to the Database forum instead.

  • Some objects in sys schema not imported usinf full database import/export.

    Hello All,
    We need to migrate database from one server to new server using same database version 11g Release 2 (11.2.0.1.0). We have some production objects in sys schema. We took full export using full=y and then import on new server using full=y. Other objects belonging to different tablespaces and users has successfully imported but production objects i.e table in sys schema not import.
    We used following commands for export and import:
    # exp system file=/u01/backup/orcl_full_exp.dmp log=/u01/backup/orcl_full_exp.log full=y statistics=none
    # imp system file=/u01/backup/orcl_full_exp.dmp log=/u01/backup/orcl_full_imp.log full=y ignore=y
    Kind Regards,
    Sharjeel

    Hi,
    First of all it is not good practice to keep user object in the sys schema
    second you are useing version 11gr2 what not you go for datapump export/import method.
    third, did you get any error in import, what is the error

  • Is there a way to include the sys.aud$ table in a full database dp export?

    I am doing an export using the following parfile information:
    userid=/
    directory=datapump_nightly_export
    dumpfile=test_expdp.dmp
    logfile=test_expdp.log
    full=y
    content=all
    However when I run this I do not see the sys.aud$ in the log file. I know I can do a seperate export to specifically get the sys.aud$ table but is there any way to include it in with my full export?
    Thanks in advance for any suggestion.

    here's more background infomation... I have some audits setup on my database for one of my users. Every quarter I have an automated job that runs that creates a usage/statics report for this person using data in aud$. at the end of the job I export the aud$ table and truncate it. However last quarter I found that there was a mistake in my report and my export did not run properly thus my audit data was gone. i also have full datapump exports that run daily but found that aud$ was not there. so that is why I thought I'd like to include sys.aud$ in the full datapump exports.
    i understand why other sys tables would be left out of a full export but aud$ data cannot be reproduced so to me it makes sense to include it in a full export.
    don't worry, we run our true backups using rman which is eventually how I got the aud$ data back by creating a copy of my database up until the time of the truncate. however this was quite time consuming.

    Immediate help can be only provided by Oracle Support Services. So if you need that, please raise a Sev1 SR . For your issue, as others have suggested already, if you have a valid backup and you are in the archive log mode, using RMAN's BMR(Block Media Recovery) , the issue can be resolved provided there is nothing wrong with the hardware of yours. If that's the case, recovery wouldn't yield any benefits.

  • I recently accidently upgraded to firefox 3.5.1 and when I did, my bookmarks now only list in recentlyy bookmarked and the when full are removed. How do I get my bookmarks to go in list. I use xp pro

    sorry for the repeat but I forgot to add my os.

    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Bookmark_dialog
    Just to be sure that you understand how it works:
    * Clicking the star in the location bar will bookmark the page in the "Unsorted Bookmarks" folder and the star turns yellow (blue on Mac) to show that.
    * The "Unsorted Bookmarks" folder shows in the sidebar and the Library, but not in the Bookmarks menu drop down list.
    * Bookmarks > "Bookmark This Page" (Ctrl+D) will bookmark the page in the Bookmarks Menu folder (you need to confirm that).
    * If the URL in the location bar is bookmarked (star at the right end is yellow/blue) then click the star or use the Bookmark > Bookmark This Page (Ctrl+D) menu entry to edit the properties of the bookmark (name, location) and move it to another folder or remove the bookmark.
    * Click the star at the right end of the location bar once to bookmark the current site and click the highlighted star a second time to open the "Edit This Bookmark" window and move the bookmark to another folder or edit the name.
    * Click the Remove button in the "Edit This Bookmark" window to remove a bookmark.
    * Click the arrow at the far right of the Folder field in the "Edit This Bookmark" window to access the complete folder list. That full folder list also opens if you click the drop marker in the Folder field and select the "Choose" item. That window also has a button to create a "New Folder" (look for a button with "New Folder" or a "+" under the folder list).
    * Use the "Edit This Bookmark" window to locate a bookmarked link (bookmarks have a yellow/blue star) from the location bar drop down list. Do that in Offline mode ("File > Work Offline") to avoid the link from opening.

  • CREATING SYSTEM AND SYSAUX FILES

    Hi,
    when creating DB by script, can we choose to have them in AUTOEXTEND OFF or ON like this :
    SYSAUX DATAFILE '/d12/ORA_DB/SYSAUX_001.dbf' SIZE 350M
    EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL AUTOEXTEND OFF
    DATAFILE '/d12/ORA_DB/SYSTEM_001.dbf' SIZE 100M
    EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL AUTOEXTEND OFF
    Many thanks

    The reason why this command fails from the beginning is because you are using 'EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL' right after the datafile size, then you declare the autoextend on clause, this autoextend on is a datafile attribute, meanwhile the extent management local is a tablespace attribute which cannot be declared until you have completely specified the datafile:
    SYSAUX DATAFILE '/d12/ORA_DB/SYSAUX_001.dbf' SIZE
    350M
    EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL AUTOEXTEND OFF
    DATAFILE '/d12/ORA_DB/SYSTEM_001.dbf' SIZE 100M
    EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL AUTOEXTEND OFFSo, the command, properly rearranged, to create your tablespace is:
    SYSAUX DATAFILE '/d12/ORA_DB/SYSAUX_001.dbf' SIZE 350M AUTOEXTEND OFF
    EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL
    DATAFILE '/d12/ORA_DB/SYSTEM_001.dbf' SIZE 100M AUTOEXTEND OFF

    Hi
    A. Did You really - Create a new User account and log into this one and hav a try ? (just to confirm the most common error)
    B. Tested by using a Cleaning DVD disk (NO liquid but the kind with brushes)
    C. If they both fails --- Apple Store to test if repair is needed - alt. an external CD/DVD-burner.
    Did You by any chance - BURN more than three DVDs in a continuous row ? Doing so overheats the DVD-laser and repair is of need - will not self heal.
    I burn three - then let it cool down for >30 minutes - then burn next set of three.
