Syslog Reports not collect Syslog.log file Messages
I am doing a installation on CiscoWorks 3.2. after two three weeks I found my syslog services is not working properly. Once I checked on the syslog.log its updated with the device logs as normal. But when I am going to generate report it’s not collect data from the syslog log file. I have notice my syslog analyzer and syslog collator processes are shown as = Program started - No mgt msgs received. Is this normal on the LMS serve?
Anyway I found following error massagers on the SyslogAnalyzer.log file.
cisco.nm.xms.ctm.common.CTMException: CTMRegistryClient::addNewURNEntry URN : SyslogAnalyzerService ErrMsg : URN already in use

please I need your expertise knowledge to sort out this problem.

Hi there,
the headline says basically all: Is there a way to collect the log files from a Time Capsule 7 AirPort from time to time? They are overwritten quite soon but I want a complete log of all activities to my access point.
The AirPort Utility says something about SNMP. Is this the way to go? Some kind of demon on my Mac that retrieves and saves the logs like every two days?
I want to copy the access logs, I am not interested in Time Machine backup logs.
Thanks. There is a way to do this via Syslog. On the Logging & Statistics panel (within the AirPort Utility), you can point the AirPort's system logs to a Syslog "server."
This would require a "dedicated" network client to receive the logs.
Unfortunately, setting up a Syslog server is a bit intensive initially, but is simple to operate and maintain.
Please check out this Apple Support Communities thread: Directing Syslog message to a file

Rman can not able generate log file in linux shell script
Friends,
In shell script we use below command to save processing information.
$ORACLE_HOME/bin/rman "target=/" > ${LOG} <<- EOF
Recent days, it does not work and return message as
./test.sh: line 78: LOG: command not found
./test.sh: line 83: /u01/test/oracle/scripts/crons/logs/testdb_013120141148.log: No such file or directory
find: /u01/test/oracle/scripts/crons/logs: No such file or directory
It seems that rman can not create a log file when we passed log variable value.
Thanks for helpHi,
Seems some one removed the log directory.. check the log directory as specified in the script. and create that one if not exist. -
Hello
When I try to start the SQl server service i get the following error:
Event id 17058
Could not open error log file ''. Operating system error = 5(failed to retrieve text for this error. Reason: 15105).
As a test I have made sure the errorlog file ,and the entire drive it is, has everyone full control permissions, but to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas to resolve this issue?
Thank youHi,
Try running:
SELECT SERVERPROPERTY('ErrorLogFileName')
Then verify that the account being used to run the SQL Server service account has access to the path output above. If possible, you could try logging onto the server with the same account used to run SQL Server then navigate to the errorlog folder.
Thanks,

Hi guys,
I am working on issue with SQL Server 2008 R2 .. we rebooted the server and after that all SQL services is not coming up. below is the error from eventlog...
SQL Server running under NetworkService account and has full control on this files..
from Config Manager ....
The request failed or the service did not respond in a timely fashion....
From Event log..
initerrlog: Could not open error log file 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Log\ERRORLOG'. Operating system error = 5(Access is denied.).
Any idea or workaround..?
Thanks..
Please Mark As Answer if it is helpful. \\Aim To Inspire Rather to TeachFinally I found solution and was able to bring back online the SQL Services...
I had a very similar issue with the following error (event log):
Description:
The SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) service terminated with service-specific error 17058 (0x42A2).
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
Event Type: Error
Event Source: MSSQLSERVER
Event Category: (2)
Event ID: 17058
Date: 19/05/2012
Time: 10:20:14
User: N/A
Computer: NSQLXX
Description:
initerrlog: Could not open error log file 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\LOG\ERRORLOG'.
Operating system error = 5(error not found).
In this case the ERRORLOG file had been marked as read only. This was following a scheduled automated boot. -This
was culprit
MSSQL wouldn't not start until this file had been changed.

SCCM 2012 - Reporting Services - No srsrpsetup.log file
Hi all,
just in the process of moving from SCCM 2007 to 2012 R2. Here's the set up: SCCM installed on Win 2012 R2 box, SQL back end is off box on a Win 2012 R2 cluster, SQL Reporting Services is installed on a dedicated Win 2012 R2 box.
I've installed the Reporting Services Point onto the SRS01 box (which also installed the Site system and Component server roles). The role seems to have instlled ok - it's popped up under the Component Status as Healthy and the State Messages look ok:
I was under the impression that I should then see a new log file (SRSRPSetup.log) appear in the install directory (D:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\Logs) but so far nothing's appeared. Since the log files are usually the best to start
troubleshooting I'm a bit stumped as to where to begin troubleshooting this. Does anyone have any suggestions as to why the log file may not have appeared?
Thanks for the help!Ignore this, just had a poke around on the SRS server and found the log files under D:\SMS\logs. Should have realised sine the role was installed on the SRS01 server, that's naturally where the role installation logs would be located!

Parameter issue - report not generating any pdf files
Hi All,
I'm trying to run a report which generates pdf files. Is there any limitation on the parameter string size? For one of the parameter values - '11F EA Accept nonhonor ASnSOMnSON_20091201090150846' the report is not generating any pdf files. I assumed the reason is of the keyword 'AS' in it and created another parameter value - '11F EA Accept nonhonor AnS-SOM-SON_20091202074331997', but it is also not generating any pdf files. I get this message from Adobe Reader " There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be opened because it has no pages. " The report is working normally when i hardcode the same parameter values into the logic. Any suggestions on this?
Thanks.

Edited by: user1049091 on Dec 2, 2009 12:37 PMTim,
That report is working normally for all the parameter values, except this one. It is not working only if i pass the value - ''11F EA Accept nonhonor ASnSOMnSON_20091201090150846' as a parameter. It is generating the pdf files when i hardcode the same value into sql query logic in the data template, instead of passing it as a parameter. Please advise.

Listener.log file message
Hi Gurus
I am using oracle 10g 10.2.0.1 database.
In my listener log file frequently getting message '* service_update * ' .
Is it indicating any error ?
Please update me.
Regards
RabiHi;
PMON is responsible for updating the listener with information about a particular instance such as load and dispatcher information. Maximum load for dedicated connections is determined by the PROCESSES parameter. The frequency at which PMON provides SERVICE_UPDATE information varies according to the workload of the instance.
The maximum interval between these service updates is 10 minutes.
The listener counts the number of connections it has established to the instance but does not immediately get information about connections that have terminated.
Only when PMON updates the listener via SERVICE_UPDATE is the listener informed of current load. Since this can take as long as 10 minutes, there can be a difference between the current instance load according to the listener and the actual instance load.

Every time i try and open a new document I get a message that says this is not a valid PDF file?
Has anyone else recieved this message?Sorry, I am out of ideas. Unless anyone else can help I suggest you need to contact support directly. It’s usually possible to start a live chat, if an Adobe agent is free, and often to get problems fixed right away.

Debug info from ZAction not visible in log file
Hi,
i am trying to see debug info from my Z ActionClass in the log file. Debug messages from the standard actions from crm~avw applicaiton are visible. My ZAction is in the package com.customer and i have maintained this entry in VisualManager\LogManager in property SingleTraceFile_UnrestrictedLcoations. Part of the code is pasted below. Pls help.
public class ZAction extends BaseAction {
private static final IsaLocation log = IsaLocation.getInstance(ZAction.class.getName());
public ZAction()
public ActionForward doPerform(ActionMapping mapping, ActionForm form, HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
throws ServletException, IOException
log.debug("Entered ZAction");Hi,
I had also faced similar issue.
Try giving this way.
Give this inside the doperform
IsaLocation log =IsaLocation.getInstance(com.sap.isa.core.BaseAction.class.getName());
Hope this helps
Regards
