System_Exec and Open System Command Pipe hangs in Solaris

I'm using LV 7.1.1 on Solaris and I'm having major problems with the System Exec function in combination with Open System Command Pipe.
1. The program has to run different stuff in parallel but the System Exec won't run in parallel with Open System Command Pipe. It immediately hangs and neither function ever returns. LabVIEW must be killed.
2. After executing Open System Command Pipe, stopping the program and then executing a System Exec, that too hangs. The external script called by Open System Command Pipe is no longer running but obviously LV leaves something behind anyway. Close Pipe doesn't seem to clean up everything. Again, LabVIEW must be killed.
3. Also, regardless of any System Exec call, the first time Open System Command Pipe and Read Pipe is executed it takes a very long time to get the result. After stopping the program and restarting it, it's much faster.
Has anyone else experienced these problems?

I'm having the same difficulties... tried many things, with no luck...

  • Linux system command pipes

I am trying to integrate TCL scripting code with  LabVIEW in a way I can send every TCL command separately and read back the results (under Linux platform).
From searching and reading information on web pages I found out that the best way to do so is by using the System command pipes .
I tried to do it but with no success I couldn't write or read from the pipe. I also didn't find any example how to implement the command pipes.
Does any one has any example (labView 2009 Linux) of opening a system command pipes reading  data from it and writing data to the pipe?

    Hello
The examples are for named pipes and it works fine for passing data to the pipe and read the data from it.
But it cannot processes commands. In order to write Tcl commands I need pipe that is able to interpreter commands.
So I tried the system command pipes but it can only process bash commands like ls or pwd but I didn't find a way to open the tclsh and process commands in TCL.
I had another problem with concatenating commands got error 6.
I attached the file I created can you find what I am doing wrong?

  • Does System command pipe VI bufferizes data?

    Hi,
I have some questions about Pipe VIs on Linux:
1)In my project I open a system command pipe vi that opens another
program's shell. Then, using the write file descriptor, I write a
series of commands in a loop. I could observe that only when I close
the pipe those commands are really sent to the shell, OR when,
aparently, something like a  "pipe vi buffer" overflows.
    2) In the same situation, I would like to use both the write and read
file descriptors. The write pipe vi sends a command to the program's
shell and them the read pipe vi reads the shell's results. I tried of
many ways, including forcing serialization (open, then write, then
read), but it didn't work at all. I could see that the write worked but
the read can't read the results.
The most interesting is if I use a ls -l in the open system vi, I can read the directory contents on the read vi...
What's wrong? Is that a problem of LV or Linux? Or of the another program's shell?
What can I do to make sure that a command is issued as it is writen to the pipe?
Thanks in advance for the attention,

    Hi, ratem.
I've just created a little code snippet (below), and I'd like you to tell me what happens when you run similar code on your machine. I run the code, read from the FIFO in a terminal, and I'm able to see the data I wrote before the pipe is closed. Does your behavior differ with this code?

  • Image won't open after right click and "open with" command using Editor PSE 10

Can't see image after right click and "open with" Windows XP command using Editor PSE 10. The editor opens but no image appears. I have to use the open command from within Editor

Make sure you have chosen the application PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe and not a shortcut.
To manually associate a file format with an application:
In Windows Explorer, right-click a file whose file association you want to change. For example, if you want to change the file association for all jpeg files, click a jpeg file.
Choose Open With > Choose Program from the pop-up menu.
In the Open With dialog box, click Browse and then locate and select the exe application file.
Checkmark "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" and click OK.
Note:If you choose a program from the Open With menu in step 2, instead of selecting the Choose Program option, this check box is not available, and the file association won't work.

  • Boot bootldr, boot bootstrap and boot system command?

    Hello All,
Could anyone please explain me what the “boot bootldr” and “boot bootstrap” are? And how do they different from the “boot system” command?
I did not understand the description of these commands in the Cisco command reference document.
    Thanks a lot,
    Nitass

    Hi Nitass.
Boot system is used to specify the system image that loads at startup i.e the full IOS image that system will load.
boot bootldr command is used to specified a boot loader image which is an image with only booting featues and few limited commands, this image is like a safe mode for the system where we fall back on if system is unable to boot from main image.
bootstrap is the minimum software that is required to recongnize and run the hardware. It comes both in software and hardwares with the software.Like in cat 6K on Sup's is a special hardware with an image on it.

  • I will think that I have closed Firefox, I will go to open it again and I will get a message that it is still running on my system and my system must first be restarted. I am using a special Laptop desk for it. Sorry so long.

I've been on it a bunch lately, plus I tend to watch a lot of movies, back to back, streaming, from Netflix. My laptop was hacked so badly that it was taken back to factory settings and I now use Glary Utilities and CCleaner every two weeks. I use AVG as antivirus. Monthly I run Glary, CCleaner, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, Disk Cleanup and Dfrag.
I haven't given my computer a break to breathe. I've been updating my information, like I said already, on all those websites, which is like neverending.
I do have to use Internet Explorer for some things, but Firefox has actually been staying open on my system a lot more than Internet Explorer has been crashing. And I swear, there are no indicators to me, other than opening up Task Manager, I suppose, and I haven't done that, that Firefox is staying open. It truly is looking totally closed. Yet my laptop is giving me this weird message stating that it isn't, so I click Restart, and open it again, then go on my merry way with my work in Firefox.
I have no idea how to tell if my plug-ins are old or not cooperating with my current, updated version of Firefox.
Can somebody dummy their answer down, please? I will give you more details if you ask for them. I don't know what other details to give. I did read through the other options, and this is what fit me the best, I thought. Who knows. Thanks, Tigerstripe

The proper way to close Firefox is through the File menu "Exit" or the equivalent with the Firefox button.
More detail in item '''#38 Firefox already running '''
    of
[http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 look like 3.6) (#fx4interface)]
Firefox already running, to properly shutdown Firefox when closing the last window use File → Exit/Quit (or Firefox button → Exit). Closing Firefox with the [X] in the upper right corner closes the window ("Ctrl+W") but that does not necessarily close Firefox if it has subtasks running. If you want to close and reopen Firefox use the "Restart" within Add-ons if you made a change requiring a restart, or install "[https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/restartless-restart/ Restartless Restart]" ("Ctrl+Alt+R") which will allow you to take Firefox down and restart without having to check the Windows Task Manager to see if Firefox first actually ended. • Adobe Bridge CS4 Hangs and whole system goes down.

Adobe Bridge CS4 Hangs and whole system goes down.
This is happening when I just finished edition RAW files in ACR and hit DONE, right after that a Bridge hangs, Cannot open Explorer, PC functions are down, cannot start anything, cannot stop Bridge process, cannot properly restart. Only holding power button shuts donw PC forcefylly.
I happens once per 10 edits of RAW files and super annoying.
    Pleeeeease help!

No wonder I think this is Bridge.
That is indeed a tempting thought, have you already tried the refresh preferences for Bridge using ctrl key pressed down while restarting Bridge?
But Bridge is very critical in reacting on odd system behavior, so also keep the advice of Station-Two in mind. On a Mac repairing permissions often solves problems, don't know the PC equivalent of this.

  • CS5, Windows 7 and the 'OPEN WITH' command fails

I am having an 'issue' with the OPEN WITH command under Windows 7.
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium (fully updated) edition and my system meets all of the advertised Adobe requirements.
If I open Photoshop CS5 (64-bit); it will work OK and as expected in all cases. However, if I right click on a .jpg file (or any other graphic file) and select, OPEN WITH, then select Photoshop CS5 from the list, Photoshop appears to be trying to run, then the system reports that it has failed to open. Yet, if I open Photoshop first, then open the file from within the prog, it opens OK and Photoshop works as expected.
Has anyone else come across this behaviour ... and more importantly, does anyone know what is the cause of this and how to resolve the issue ??
    Many thanks.

Nope, when I right-click a JPEG, Open With, Photoshop CS5 results in Photoshop CS5 x64 starting and the image opening.
I tested it with both Photoshop not running and with Photoshop already running.
    I have Windows 7 x64 Ultimate.
You say the system reports an error...  Have you looked in the Windows System Event Log (or Application Event Log)?  More information may be provided there.

Firefox keeps opening tabs whether I am on-line or not. These are often games pages, but not always. I have reset several times and there are no pipe characters in the home page address. This is not the first time this has happened. The first time was a couple of months ago and a reset cured the problem, but this time it does not. How can I stop this occurring?

'''''If this can happen with Firefox completely closed:'''''
Some malware simply launches pages in your default browser from outside Firefox. Definitely scan for malware using some of the tools listed in our support article: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]].
There might be an additional step:
Last year, many users reported advertising tabs opening randomly, sometimes even when Firefox was closed. It turned out that a program had created scheduled tasks to open those pages at certain times of day.
You can check the Windows Task Scheduler:
    * Windows XP: Start button > [All] Programs > Accessories> System Tools > Scheduled Tasks
    * Windows Vista/7: Start button > Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools > Task Scheduler
    * Windows 8: ?? You might try the charms bar search box if you don't find it in the control panel.

  • Terminal commands and operating system's viruses etc.

I was wondering what are some good and cheap/free,  Anti-virus or malware detection program out there, that  I should be thinking about getting? I guess I
would consider myself a person that gets around on the Internet and and downloads and does where he pleases.
I have downloaded a few app's that should help me like Memory Freer, Clean My Mac and DaisyDisk. they all seem to be very helpful and all but I don't think there scanning for the hidden nasty's that crawl into you're computer and break, corrupt and slow it down.
I've also been learning Terminal and all the commands and action's that can help also when you get into a sticky and sometimes very irritable situation.
I haven't been Using it for that long and was kinda scared to. But I know it helps and I actually kind of enjoy it.
So also  If you guy's know Unix and some of the commands, what are some of the really important ones, Just incase I accidently open the wrong link and all of a sdudden there is a program zip file from the Internet unzipping and loading up then disappears on me, Like has happen a few times? up or something, also if you think you'r computer has been intruded, a program has been hacking think someone got into you're system file's or a bad link gave you something, What are the command's to see that kind of thing?
Also one last question. I originally bought my  3.06 mhz, 1TB HD 4GBRAM  27" Late 2010 Imac from an older guy that had bought it with Snow Leopard with and then upgraded it to lion, before he sold it to me.  My computer crashed a week or so ago and I did'nt have the lion CD so I went ahead and put Snow leopard back on it until I was able to get the  the extra  $20 dollars for the Mountain Lion upgrade.
When I did that I was able to fell the difference of the vibes of the GUI, and also was able to see the differences in a few thing's involving some of the features and lay out's.
For instance; The applications and documents folder is on the dock in in snow Leopard and you can scroll through the folder with out even having to opening it up.   and when I finally Accuired the 'Mountain Lion up grade app. After I upgraded it again it didn't even seem like the same OS anymore i seemed like it was a morphed version of the Leopard GUI and lay out. So is it Different everytime you load up the different Operating systems in different orders?
I forgot to mention that I actually had upgraded it from the previous owners Snow Leopard/ OSX Lion OS,  To The Mountain Lion.I was Using a upgrade that was not licensed to me.. and that's when the Computer completely crashed and had lost all key's and permissions to OSX in the mayhem that followed.
I guess my qustion is should I go back and And start from the begging and install snow leapord then Lion adnd then Montain lion? Will it make a difference in the feel and operation?` or ` during the recovery process or after is ther a way to set it up the way you like it? Like if you wanted it to feel more like SL or like Lion?
Thank you Very much for the info in advance.

  • Mac Book Pro Locks up when opening Date and Time system preferences

    Hi,
I have a macbook pro which i have had for about 6 months and i am so pleased with it. But now i have a problem.
Everytime i go into system preferences and then to the date and time settings it locks up. The date and time settings window will appear and looks normal but i cant do nething with it, and when i hover over the window with my mouse i get the little spinning coloured mouse icon. The only way i can then exit it is to "Force Quit" it. I reinstalled mac os x last night, to see if this would fix the problem, but it did not, and have received all updates for it.
I used to have a problem where the time would be either 1 hour fast or 1 hour slow and this would keep changing by itself everytime i started the computer.
    Regards
    Charlie

    Thanks for the replies guys...
Yes, the date/time is set to auto and the source is "Apple Americas/US (time.apple.com)"
One thing I noticed is that whenever it hangs for 45 sec or so.....once the window shows up (after hanging), the lock for changes is "open".....but if I lock it at that point, close the window and then rt click on time and open Date/Time again, it does not hang......somehow when this is "locked", it does not hang when you want to open it.
But, if u are in the lock mode, and want to "click the lock" to make changes, it hangs on you again......hope this makes sense.

  • Firefox will hang on a website then everything else will no longer load and forces me to close and open firefox to get it to work.

As the question says I am having several issues with Firefox lately. I've tried disabling every addon, disabling JavaScript, running it in safe mode - no addons. Nothing seems to work.
I'll be on pandora listening to music, I open a new tab and go to a site like facebook. If that page does not load or hangs, my browser will no longer allow me to go to any other site until I close and open the browser. (Of course closing the tab that caused the issue). This happens about 10+ times every day, and I've supported firefox for years but this issue just keeps getting worse. It started when I upgraded to FireFox 6.

    Please help! xxx

The Aperture 3.4 installer has a problem and may cause an incomplete install. You should remove your current installation and reinstall from your original installation media, then upgrade again, see this support article by Apple:
Aperture 3.4: May quit unexpectedly on launch after updating
Post back, if there are still problems after reinstalling.
    Regards
