Systems and platforms: Windows for GlassFish Mobility Platform 1.1

Hi all,
I'm new to sun glassfish mobility and wanted to try out the solution. I have a small company for J2ME based hadheld application development. Please help me with below questions.
- As per Sun GlassFish Mobility Platform technical spec below, for operating systems and platforms i have Windows, but it says development only. What does it mean? Is it that i can not run the Sun "GlassFish Mobility Platform 1.1" in windows system?
Please suggest.
Platforms and Requirements
Operating Systems and Platforms
Solaris 10 Operating System
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 and 5
* Windows (development only)*
Application Server
Sun GlassFish Enterprise Server 2.1
Client Platform
Java Platform, Mobile Edition (Java ME)
CDC 1.1.2, CLDC 1.1, MIDP 2.0
Development Kit
J2SE 5.0 and JDK 6
Synchronization Databases
MySQL
* Oracle 9/10

This means that we don't support deployments of the gateway server on the Windows OS in a production environment.
The platform deploys and runs fine on Windows, we have systems running the platform on NT, XP and Vista and we support development of Mobility Platform applications on Windows.

  • Sun GlassFish Mobility Platform Administration Console: Authentication fail

    Dear All,
    I have installed Sun GlassFish Mobility Platform and Sun GlassFish Enterprise Server v2.1 is also installed in the process. However i can log in to the the Sun GlassFish Enterprise Server v2.1. But I can not log in to the Sun GlassFish Mobility Platform, every time i try, it gives a authentication fail. Can anyone please help?
    Regards
    Sahrear

    Hi Tomamiro,
    Thanks for your reply. But i tried with username: admin and password: adminpass as was in default configuration. I also tried with password: syncpass, but still no luck. But interestingly i can always log in to the "Sun Glassfish server v2.1 administration console" with the username: admin and password: adminpass. But can never log in to the "SGMP administration console"!
    Moving forward, i'm already frustrated with SGMP since the support is not as good as sun's other forums. I may try a fresh installation tomorrow but after that i'm not sure whether i will try again or not. Please let me know how to solve this problem if you can.
    I really appreciated your effort, thanks again.

  • Differences between Oracle 8i for a UNIX Platform and Oracle 8i for a Linux Platform

    Hello,
    J would like to know if there are some differences between Oracle 8i for a UNIX Platform and Oracle 8i for a Linux Platform.
    I know that there are some differences on Oracle 8i Parallel Server and i know that some products are not include like precompiler (Mod*Ada, Pro*FORTRAN) on a Linux Platform.
    Thank you.

    We have installed Oracle 8i on Solaris 8 and it had a great performance, of course that the hardware and licence invested here was costed my the office where i work. Personaly i'd installed linux reh hat 8 and oracle 8i, imagine that, it could be implemented by any individual that has the time to do so.
    By buyinng from a company that has a good background you could be sure that you will have support.
    Bottom line, if you have the $ to buy great hardware go for a unix platform. But if you don't a Red Hat Linux Server Licence with a 1 year sopport and Oracle data base is about 3500Dls.

    Also check out the note :
    For SCM Add-On Products like SAP SNC, SAP EM, SAP F&R the basis component (SAP Netweaver Release) has to be also assigned as relevant Product Instance
    Might be helpful, if you check the product versions being reported for the system in the SLD.

  • Define Logical Systems and Template Names for BW Reports

    Hi experts
    I would like to know if someone used the mentioned functionality 'Define Logical Systems and Template Names for BW Reports, I would like to know too IF I create a Z REPORT for example in webdynpro and insert it in this configuration it will work and where it will appear in sourcing cockpit?
    sds.
    Javier

    Hello Muthu,
    BW reports will be shown in SRM Box if the corresponding BW roles for SRM are integrated with SRM roles.
    You might to activate the corresponding datasource of this in SRM.
    And since you have to connect the source system to BW, I think you have to define SRM system as logical system in BW.

  • What's the difference between redundancy and recovery window for retention?

    Hello all,
    I'm still trying to get a grip on this concept for RMAN backup planning.
    I recently ran into a situation as follows.
    I have the backups set to a redundancy of 1.
    I have instance1, which had GRID jobs to run RMAN backups as follows
    Incremental database level=0 weekly at Wed at 2:30am
    I have daily backups, incremental level=1 each evening
    I have archive log backups through the day.
    What happened, was that apparently on a Tues some time, the development team deleted data from almost every table in their schema.
    The didn't discover this till midday or so on Wednesday.
    I went to try to restore...and RMAN couldn't do it. I had found a SCN for early the Tues they did it...but I got the following error:
    RMAN> RUN
    2> {
    3> SET UNTIL SCN 4590383198282;
    4> RESTORE DATABASE;
    5> RECOVER DATABASE;
    6> }

    ORA-01180: can not create datafile 1
    ORA-01110: data file 1: '+DATADG/instance1/datafile/system.284.697137287'
    From what research I did...it appears that since I did not have a level=0 incremental from before, it could not reset the database back in time. The previous one had been deleted since, I guess I had a redundancy of 1.
    So, I thought I had a week backup they way I have it set..but that assumes that errors are found pretty quickly before the next level=0 backup.
    I want at least 1 to 1.5 weeks worth of backups. I do have the problem that we do not have many tapes in rotation, so I cannot go for too long...may 2x weeks tops.
    I'm trying to rethink my strategy, but I'm confused as I read as to the difference between setting RMAN retention with redundancy vs recovery window.
    Can someone give me an explanation how you understand it? I'm reading on the web and in oracle books, and for some reason, it just isn't clear to me what is the best way to go....especially when I see that redundancy and recovery window might both be set??
    Thank you in advance,
    cayenne

    Dear Cayenne
    AFAIK RMAN doesn't claim that "you haven't enough backup". Please read the error you got carefully
    ORA-01180: can not create datafile 1
    ORA-01110: data file 1: '+DATADG/instance1/datafile/system.284.697137287'
    and check the following link:
    ORA-01180: Cannot create datafile 1 when doing RMAN restore onto 2nd server
    Moreover, could you please use LIST BACKUP command and see whether you have enough backups?
    Read "Redundancy Based Backup Retention Policy" from the following link:

    Hello  Kaushal,
    you habe to link user, key user i.e. a business partner (BP), and managed system and this work like this:
    a) User <-> BP: start transaction BP, assign role Employee to your business partner and enter the user name on tab Identification
    b) BP <-> managed system: start transaction BP, select role General and enter the External System Identifier (format: <managed system ID> <installation number> <client> <user in managed system>) on tab Identification
    Alternative: Use transaction BP_GEN to create valid business partners for managed systems

  • No menu and no window for application

    DiskWarrior loss suddenly working window and menus, but is working (many mach-messages and processor switches).
    Will it be able to generate a new window when it needs a response?
    Thank you,
    Karl

    I am having what is perhaps a similar issue with a Sony Z1E
    We have 2 suites here, both upgraded to FCS2.
    The DPG5 is fine - capture works as normal, as it always has done.
    However, the Mac Pro (Quad 2.6) is not capturing correctly. You can open the log and capture window, you can set in and out points that reflect the actual TC on the tape, you can view footage in the window if you manually tell the camera to play back, but you cannot control the camera at all with any of the onscreen controls or keyboard commands.
    Both machines are using the same settings. Camera verified to capture correctly with the working machine using those settings. Assorted HDV settings tested - all exhibit the same problem.
    Both machines are fully up to date and have had FSC2 upgraded on them from FCS. The only difference is that one is an Intel box, the other is a PPC.
    I am totally baffled - capturing was working on the Mac Pro just fine before the upgrade. Now only its G5 cousin is working.

  • Buying and installing Windows for a new MacBook

    (1) What version of Windows OS would be best for the 13" 80 GB MacBook I just bought? After looking on the MS website, I'm confused about whether Vista has replaced XP or whether it's still in Beta (or even actually exists yet).
    (2) Any tips on installing Windows on the MacBook? And should I hold off installing Parallels until I know Windows runs okay with BootCamp, or does it not matter how I set up Windows/Parallels?
    (3) If I want to use MS Office on the Windows platform, do I have to get MS Office for Windows (XP, Vista, or whatever)? Or does Word 2004 for Mac somehow magically work with Windows?
    Thanks for any advice on all this.

    Thanks, Jim; that's encouraging. The person I'll be sharing the computer with thought we should have Windows, so I convinced him that we should get another Mac and then I would just install Windows. Still, it will probably just lie around gathering dust, since Mac is so much more stable and so much easier.
    One last question: I saw from another post that it's unlikely that Windows running on a Mac would be infected by a virus, and I assume that a Windows virus wouldn't affect the Mac platform even on the same computer.
    However, just as a theoretical problem: If a hacker did succeed in hacking into a Windows computer (that's on dial-up), could he get into the Mac area, too? Just curious.

  • SAP systems and Daylight savings for 2007

    Hi,
    We are discussing about the Daylight Saving time changes in USA for 2007 and its effect on SAP Systems.
    <i>"Beginning in 2007, most of the U.S. will begin Daylight Saving Time at 2:00 a.m. on the second Sunday in March and revert to standard time on the first Sunday in November."</i>
    Wondering, if we need to change any variable settings to take into effect? If so, could anyone give details on it.
    Wondering if SAP systems time is getting sync with Database servers or O/S ?
    Thanks,
    Sam

    Hi,
    The beginning of daylight saving time is normally not a problem as the time will jump from 2:00 to 3:00, so seen from SAP that no problem. You will only have a 1 hour hole, as the system had nothing to do for one hour.
    So there are no settings or so to maintain or change. Just let SAP system run...
    But it is different when switching back to "normal" time, as there you will have the so called double hour, and even as SAP is working on a solution to this, it is still recommended to shut down the SAP system for this period.
    (searching for the term "daylight saving time" in OSS should give you some notes explaining how SAP is handling it)
    As i know SAP system is taking the time from OS, but you can se what time the SAP system has, by in the GUI menu to select the "system" => "Status"...
    (In the Popup you can se it in upper right corner)
    Regards
    Rolf

  • ADF Faces and multiframe window for master/detail view

    Hi,
    I have a web page divide into 2 frames : frame1, the master view and frame2 the detail view.
    When I load the whole web page, the master frame print all the paginated list. Each row has a "show more" button. When I click one, the corresponding detail view is displayed in the detail view (frame2). And, when I clicked again the "show more" button, the paginated list (present in the master view) is displayed in the detail view !!! WHY ??
    When I click a third time on the "show more" button, the detail view display the corresponding detail information (work well like first click)....and alternatively clicking on the "show more" button, this problems occurs.
    Where does this problem come from ?
    The ADF Faces code shown in the master view (targetFrame attribute means to display on the detail view when show more button is clicked).
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>

    Yes I put a targetFrame (I forgot to restablish it).
    Code of the backing bean (to show building list) :
    public List getBuildingsList() throws Exception {
              System.out.println("getBuildings");
              CLPNetworkInstanceAPI netAPI = CLPNetworkInstanceAPI.getNetworkInstanceAPI();
              buildingsList.clear();
    try {
         CTResource resources[] = netAPI.fetchAllResourcesByType("CLPRMBuilding");
                   for (int i=0; i<resources.length;i++)
                        buildingsList.add(resources);
              } catch (CTConnectionException e) {
                   // TODO Auto-generated catch block
                   e.printStackTrace();
              } catch (CTUnsupportedTypeException e) {
                   // TODO Auto-generated catch block
                   e.printStackTrace();
              return buildingsList;
    and the backing bean to show building detail :
    public String showBuilding() {
              FacesContext context = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
              CLPRMBuilding building = (CLPRMBuilding)
         context.getApplication().getVariableResolver().resolveVariable(context, "building");
         if (building == null)
         return "error";
         AdfFacesContext afContext = AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
         afContext.getProcessScope().put("buildingDetail", building);
         return "showBuilding";

  • Creating a Flash Archive of a Zoned System and using it for JumpStart

    Hi,
    I've searched on Internet for this topic and so far found only infos that tell me this is not supported yet. Is it still the case or maybe there are some patches already avaialble which can help ?
    If this is still not possible to achieve, is there any way to effectivly clone system with zfs and zones ?
    Cheers,
    Tom

    Flash archive will not include zone configuration in the image, so it is not possible to use it in Jumpstart. No patches available for this.
    I have done cloning using Ops Center, need to explore doing it manually, something should be there.

  • Does return main keeps task still in system and be available for other tasks

    Hello out there,
    I'm heavily stuck to a difficult problem:
    Currently I work on a project that is realized in Matlab. So I have Matlabcode that needs to access a NI acquisition card. This is done via MatlabExecutable (short: mex). This just creates a dll file from a cpp file:
    Matlab code -> C file-> NI card.
    The problem is that normally - in a single c file - you create a task, configure it, start acquisition, check for errors, exiting c code.
    BUT, I have following situation:
    Matlab -> create_task (configure, etc) -> NI
    Matlab -> start_acquisition -> NI
    Matlab -> cleanup -> NI
    So I need to get the taskHandle from each step. And here I'm stucked. It doesnt work.
    Matlab -> create task -> NI: everthing is fine I got all parameters created and I receive the task Handle back to Matlab
    Matlab -> start_acq -> NI: I hand over the task Handle but the function DAQmxLoadTask(handle) doesnt work.
    Besides my implementation, would it work?? Will the task still be in the system if the c file runs through without cleaning/destoying the task?
    And could the DAQmxLoadTask function retrieve it?
    Regards
    Rked

    Hi Rked,
    how does the "doesn't work" show? Is there an error message? A crash / hang?
    Regards,
    Stefan
