T2000 e1000g NIC not getting gigabit throughput
I've got about 20 T2000 systems all running either the 6/06 or 11/06 release of Solaris 10. They're all using the e1000g driver for the on board NICs. They're all connected to various gigabit switches in our environment. My problem is that I'm getting nowhere near gigabit speeds out of any of the my T2000s.
I have several Dells running various versions of RHEL and have measured my throughput between these systems at about 45 MB/sec (via a simple scp of a large file). I am only getting about 4.5 MB/sec on the T2000s with the same test.
I have opened a ticket with Sun for this but have been told that my configuration (default) is correct. The NICs and the switches are all set to auto-negotiate and they always negotiate to 1000/full.
I'm hoping that there is some ndd setting, kernel parameter, or e1000g.conf setting that I can implement to get my throughput up to the same level as the Dell systems. Any help that can be provided would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Chris
Its just possible your hitting a CPU limit. The T2000 isnt exactly a speed demon for single threaded applications. And the SSH encryption is pretty expensive.
Between 2 1.3 Ghz v210's I only get about 10 Megs a second. To a 400Mhz E250 I get about 5 Megs per second.

Hi, I have a strange issue with DHCP.
I have a lab environment on a single Hyper-v 2012 Server. AD, DNS & DHCP exist on a single virtual machine, I have a flat network 192.168.1.x, all VM's are on this network. I have authorised DHCP and Setup the scope.
A VM has a legacy adaptor, the legacy nic is configured in the boot order as the first device.
When I boot the machine I do not get a DHCP address, however when the OS boots the Legacy NIC then gets a DHCP address??
I need to use a legacy NIC as I need to PXE boot the VM, however I should get an IP address at boot time, which I don't get.
I have run Wireshark on the DHCP server, I can see the legacy NIC do a "DHCP Discover and the DHCP Server respond with a DHCP Offer" however all communication ends there. I have disable all firewalls and I see no reason for this not to work.
I have done tis before with no issues but I am unable to get this to work on this server!!!!!Hi
According to your description , it is recommended to make sure or do :
In your environment , there is no any other valid DHCP, BOOTP or proxy DHCP offers.
Make sure if the DHCP server is overload.
So suggest to test that creating a new “internal virtual switch” and change the settings of VM which provide DHCP service to connect to the new “virtual switch”.
Then create a new VM use legacy NIC also connect to the new “internal virtual switch” and try to PXE Boot.
Hope this helps.

Not getting gigabit speeds when I should be...
My setup is like this. On the first floor, I have my DSL modem and my Airport Extreme. I have 2 computers hooked up, one with a gigabit card and the other with an older 10/100 card. I also have a piece of Cat6 cable running through the wall to the upstairs where it plugs into a netgear gigabit switch. This then feeds my MacBook, printer and AppleTV.
The problem is that I get gigabit speeds between devices connected to the netgear, and I get gigabit speeds directly off the Airport Extreme, but I'm only getting 100Mbps from the cable that comes upstairs. The cable is less than 50ft.
I wired the cable myself, so I'm not ruling out error on my part, however I've made other cables from the same spool of Cat6 and using the same RJ45 connectors and get gigabit speeds. Does anyone have any ideas?I would not waste time trying to conform to Category 6. Until 10 Gb/s devices become commonplace I'm not going to think about it, and then you'll need 6a anyway. Category 5e is sufficient for Gigabit.
The TIA specification is hundreds of pages long and the links I had no longer work. For most do-it-yourself purposes a few key items to watch out for are:
No cheap cables. Proper cable will be marked tested to 350 MHz. Solid cable is better for long lengths, stranded is better for shorter lengths. Use shielded cable in the presence of strong magnetic fields.
Use the proper plugs and jacks rated for Category 5e. There are differences between plugs for stranded vs. solid cable and they're not interchangeable.
No more than 1/2" of untwisted cable. Fabricating ends that conform to this limitation is tedious.
Minimum 5 inch bend radius. Too small a radius will cause crosstalk.
Obviously all eight conductors must be intact for Gigabit. Pins 4,5,7, and 8 are not used for 100 Base-T. If one or more aren't properly terminated your connection will work but its speed will revert to 100 Mb/s. -
Not getting full Gigabit Ethernet Speed on iMac Core Duo
I am using Airport to connect to a Linksys Wireless Access Point connected to my DSL modem. I am using ethernet to connect to a 3Com OfficeConnect 8-port Gigabit switch. I have 2x 500 GB LaCie Ethernet Disk Mini's (with Gigabit interface) connected to the switch.
The lights on the switch tell me that the drives and iMac are connected at full speed, however I can transfer a 650MB .dmg file to a firewire 400 drive in 1/4 of the time it takes to transfer the same file to one of the gigabit ethernet drives.
running ifocnfig en0 returns:

I have no idea what that all means, but i do know that I am not getting gigabit ethernet speed.
Can anyone help?
ThanksIf you are transferring data via wireless then you cannot approach Gigabit Ethernet speed. 802.11g has a maximum transfer speed of 54 Mbps while 802.11n is about 130 Mbps. This is much slower than a FW400 port. Your router and switch must both be Gigabit capable and your drive must be connected to Ethernet to even hope to achieve Gigabit speeds - no wireless.

B85m gaming killer nic not gigabit
Hi,
I understand by searching that there are varied issues with the Killer e2200 nic. I have a couple of issues but the most important is that I am unable to get gigabit speed from the nic. I am running Win7 x64 and have tried several suggestions to solve my issue but am unable to. I first noticed the issue running a backup and even my auto sensing switch shows a 10/100 connection.
Things I have tried:Thanks for the reply, and sorry for my issues getting my question posted.

what router you are using?
I am using an older Trendnet TEG-S80TXE Gb switch connected to a Netgear R7000. I get the same results plugging into the Trendnet or the Netgear.

list all killer driver versions that you've tried
-I have tried the most current suite listed here under my motherboard which is 1.50.1073 and the newest suite on killer's site 1.51.1426 i believe they are the same driver though. The .inf says DriverVer 8.1.0.23.
-Drivers alone I have tried 8.0.2.42, 8.1.0.23 from the sticky, and a Qualcomm Atheros AR81Family driver version 2.1.0.21
-I uninstall from control panel and run KillerCleaner between attempts. Killer Cleaner doesn't seem to remove the suite software.

you are in some kind of error, 1.0 Gbps is never listed there, only 10/100.
Auto [default] should bring you 1.0 Gbps speed if supported
This was not the case in my old Windows XP machine or other Windows 7 computers with Gb nics that I have looked at. Auto Negotiation is defaulted but 1.0 Gbps Full Duplex is listed under Speed & Duplex in device manager on those machines but is not listed on my b85m killer nic. -

of almost every corporate confidentiality clause I have ever seen!! go figure......
Thanks for the event log hint- since I have the adult content set to delete, I had no good tracking mechanism in Exhange or SMSME. I set email notifications for the future on these.

I had this same problem, but I have ESET Mail Security Server. in some one case the problem y solved if I attach the "user@domain" in the "white

Static NAT pass-through; can not get to work
I am not having any luck getting a static NAT pass-through to work.
BM3.8/NW6.5 all patched to the latest patches (no betas). IPFLT is NOT
loaded.
My internal network on one LAN all have 10.100.xxx.xxx private addresses.
Dynamic NAT works great.
I have secondary public IP addresses bound to my public NIC. Static NAT
mapping between the secondary public IP addresses and the couple of
individual private addresses work just fine. In other words, all has been
working fine.
I need to give one of those internal resources its public IP address
(change it's private to its public).
OK, I went into the NAT table and changed the proper public <-> private to
public <-> public (identical addresses). I changed the internal computer
to it's public address/mask with the same default gateway the server is
using. The internal computer can now only ping itself; can't even ping
it's default gateway. I did reinitialize, and also restarted. I can not
get the pass-through connection to work.
Any thoughts will be well received.

When I send forward or reply to an e-mail with graphics the graphics do not get sent.
when I receive an e-mail that has photo's or graphics of any type, and forward them to some one the graphics or photo's to not get sent.
It should not be variable it should work or not work under specific conditions:
1. If on 3G/Edge - you will need to use the ATT/Carrier SMTP server. This is because many ISPs (the one that you have your email with) do NOT allow access to their outgoing (SMTP server) from outside their network. If you are not going over your home network (wifi) you are outside.
2. If on WiFi, then the ATT SMTP server will not work - you have to be going over 3G or Edge.
This is why you can have multiple SMTP servers listed, but it is not a perfect solution. If the iPhone tries the ISP SMTP server first over 3G - you get the error.
Some ISPs let you "login" to the SMTP server, and then you can send email using it, even when outside (3G/Edge).
The easiest thing for me is to just use the AT&T smtp server over 3G. I only switch to wifi rarely, and not for email. If I happen to have wifi on and I want to send email, i turn wifi off.
Ideally some more detailed config options would be nice where you could specify if your ISP SMTP server was usable over 3G/edge at all. -
Not getting synchronization with audion , vedio when merging
Hi ,
Nice to see your reply.First of thanks for it.
Yes Now I am dumping the captured frames directly to .mov file .
In that process I am doing compression using compressJPEG techinique [ORI] Image I/O in Java Advanced Imaging concept .
When Cpatured image byte array size after compression = 226956 ( using Image I/O)
= 753974 ( using compressJPEG)
The following snippet shows how I am updating Buffer with my frames ( in a
class PlayerSourceStream implements PullBufferStream ).
recordArea = my screen size ( 0,0,1284,1024);
Here I am using below mentioned format for Buffer object
VideoFormatformat = new VideoFormat(VideoFormat.JPEG,
new Dimension(recordArea.width, recordArea.height),Format.NOT_SPECIFIED,Format.byteArray,(float) frameRate);
public void read(Buffer buffer) throws IOException
long lastFrameTime=0;
long time = 0;
if (!GlobalStorage.isRecodring() && !GlobalStorage.getPauseState())
start = System.currentTimeMillis();
//We are done. Set EndOfMedia.
listener.recordingStopped();
System.out.println("Done reading all images.");
buffer.setEOM(true);
buffer.setOffset(0);
buffer.setLength(0);
buffer.setFormat(format);
ended = true;
return;
else
byte[] data = null;
if (!GlobalStorage.getPauseState())
System.out.print(". recordArea: "+recordArea);
try
Thread.sleep(200);
catch(Exception e)
/*time = System.currentTimeMillis();
while(time-lastFrameTime < 200)
try
Thread.sleep(50);
catch(Exception e)
time = System.currentTimeMillis();
lastFrameTime = time;
BufferedImage bImage = captureScreen(recordArea);
//data = ImageKit.toByteArray(bImage, 0.5f);
Image capImage = bImage.getScaledInstance(recordArea.width, recordArea.height, bImage.SCALE_DEFAULT);
//data = CompressImagePNG(capImage);
data = CompressImageJPG(capImage);
System.out.println("==> CompressImageJPG : "+data.length);
//System.out.println("==> CompressImagePNG : "+data.length);
//System.out.println("==> ImageKit.toByteArray CompressImage : "+data.length);
//data = getCompressByte(capImage);
listener.frameRecorded(false);
nextImage++;
//System.out.println("==========> nextImage :" + nextImage);
buffer.setData(data);
buffer.setOffset(0);
if (data == null)
buffer.setLength(0);
else
buffer.setLength(data.length);
buffer.setFormat(format);
buffer.setFlags(buffer.getFlags() | Buffer.FLAG_KEY_FRAME);
Mean while I am recording Audio with following snippet.
AudioFormat audioFormat = new AudioFormat(AudioFormat.Encoding.PCM_SIGNED, // the audio encoding technique
22050.0F,// sampleRate the number of samples per second
16, // sampleSizeInBits the number of bits in each sample
2, // channels the number of channels (1 for mono, 2 for stereo, and so on)
4, // frameSize the number of bytes in each frame
22050.0F,// frameRate the number of frames per second
false); // bigEndian indicates whether the data for a single sample is stored in big-endian byte order (<code>false</code> means little-endian)
AudioSystem.write(m_audioInputStream,m_targetType,m_outputFile); ( it is in a separate run() of a Thread )
Here I am not applying any compressing technnique in Audio file creation.
To merge these two I ma using Merge.java which is mentioned in below link
http://java.sun.com/javase/technologies/desktop/media/jmf/2.1.1/solutions/Merge.html
Here I am getting 3 problems
1.Final out file merge.mov file size is getting more.
Example : = 2 min Recording = 80MB
2.More over I am not getting synronization in merge.mov file with audio, video.
Video is completing before Slider reaches to end point when I play the movie.
Need clarifications:
1) Should I Compress the Audio also ?
2) Which VideoFormat is better to in creation .mov file.
x.WAV (only audio), y.MOV (only video) = > z.MOV ( merge.mov)
I will be appriciate if i get any information need ful inofrmation.
I dig the google almost I visted all related links and forum questions.
Please try to help with code.Hi Thanks for reply .................if you want code what I am using to create .mov file ( by captured images) (which is input file to Merge)
Just see here once... Please try it once on different resolutions .......if possible try to reply with resolution code.
Please its very needful to me......please send ASAP. One more thing I want to mention is " app is target platform is MAC and UBUNTU"
Please modify some code to execute .....hope you can execute it.
Here I mentioned the main core logic to capture the screen :
Here recordArea rect = > public static Rectangle recordArea = new Rectangle(Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getScreenSize());
class PlayerSourceStream implements PullBufferStream
float frameRate;
VideoFormat format;
//BufferedImage image;

Custom Search Portlet not getting the results as expected.
Hi All,
I am using CustomSearchPortlet and I am having following problems. I created an itemtype IT with attributes A1,A2.Then I configured my custom search portlet to search based on A1,A2 attributes only. I have created 3 instances of items Item1,Item2,Item3 based on itemtype IT as follows
Item1(A1=value11,A2=value12)
Item2(A1=value21,A2=cat22)
Item3(A1=value11,A2=value32)
and when I search for value11, I get Item1,Item3 as results. Till here it was nice and behaving as expected. Suddenly after some time, it stopped working and i am not getting the results I used to get before. The only thing i remember to have changed in the meanwhile was to change the A2 attribute values of some of these items. my searchtext remained the same as value11. I was confused as to why the custom search portlet is not getting these results that it was getting before...Thanks for any help in solving this.
Thanks,
Prasanth.Hi,
If Oracle Text is enabled in your portal, the updated items need to be synchronised before they can be returned in the Search. Since you updated those items, though not changing values for this particular attribute, it will be in the queue for indexing and hence will not be returned until it is indexed.
Thanks. -
Clients not getting DHCP from external server
Hi,
I have a 4402 (version 7.0.235) working with 10 units of 1121 APs connected to it. The WLC is not configured to work in LAG mode. Physical portt #1 is connected to the Main Switch (trunk). I have 3 WLAN mapped to 3 Different VLAN and Everything (security and internal, external DHCP) is working swell...
Now- I have connected Physical port #2 directly to an ADSL Router (giga port), Configured Port 2 as untaggedwith the proper IP details.
I have configured this interface to receive DHCP from the ADSL Router and for some reason, Clients are not getting addresses.
When I assign a Static address to my laptop I get internet access and all is nice. I tried configuring The WLC internal DHCP server (instead of the ADSL router) and that didn't help. It seems like a DHCP problem but I dont understand the source of the problem of think of the solution.
When turning off the proxy settings I noticed that it helped. Is there anything to do with that? The problem was that after a while the other WLANs starting causing DHCP issues as well.
What is supposed to be configured? Any Expert is the House?
I attached a crappy drawing..Hi Scott,
Thanks for your answer.
So what you are basicly saying is that I have 2 choices: 1 - disable the Proxy option on the WLC and work with external DHCP servers (internal will not work when this is enabled). 2 - Enable the Proxy option and only work with the WLC internal DHCP.
I have installed many WLCs this way, having Different DHCP Servers (external and internal) for multiple WLANs.
What do you think may be different this time? The router that I am using isn't the most expencive but it is providing DHCP to other clients (wired client) with no problems.
Thanks!!! -
My father's old iMac G3 slot loading system, running 10.2.3 experienced a power company power outage and restoration of power yesterday. It was connected to a DSL modem and all was working ok. Afterwards the DSL modem didn't work so the telco is sending a replacement. In the mean time I took the iMac home with me and cabled it to a router/DSL setup used by my iMac 24" and my wife's Gateway. The iMac boots up and spends a longish time in the Network startup phase and when done does not have an IP address from the DHCP server in the router. Other computers connected to this router get an IP address immediately so it's something in the iMac.
I can ping localhost (127.1.0.0) ok but cannot ping the router (192.168.1.1).
Is there anyway to test the iMac ethernet NIC to see if the power problem effected it?
Would doing an OS 10.2 reinstall be of any help? Any suggestions?I seem to recall that Mac OS 10.2 had a problem with getting the DNS numbers.
What you need to do it is manually fill your numbers. You can still use dhcp and fill in the dns numbers.
BDAqua suggests in a post.
You can use OpenDNS for looking up web addresses.
Put these numbers in Network>TCP/IP>DNS Servers for a try...
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
https://www.opendns.com/homenetwork/start/device/apple-osx-tiger
(Please note that you do not need to a joint open DNS to use it.)
http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=5908432#5908432
Hear is the the full story.
Seems like you are not getting the DNS address or addresses.
apple > system preferences > network
Double click on network connection you are using.
Pick the TCP/IP tab.
Verify that you have a DNS Server. If you do not, look on your windows machine and see what the net address is. You can also pick using DHCF and still enter you DNS server address.
You can use
harddrive > applications > utilities > network utility
to diagnose the situation.
You can ping google.com. Result:
Ping has started ...

If pinging 17.254.3.183 works but pinging apple.com doesn't. You have a bad DNS Server address.
BDAqua suggests in a post.
You can use OpenDNS for looking up web addresses.
Put these numbers in Network>TCP/IP>DNS Servers for a try...
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
https://www.opendns.com/homenetwork/start/device/apple-osx-tiger
(Please note that you do not need to a joint open DNS to use it.)

I suggest that you try pinging Google.com.
Macintosh-HD -> Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal
mac $ ping -c4 google.com

Analysis: If you cannot ping Goolge.com but you can ping 64.233.187.99, then you need to enter you dns address. For some reason Mac OS X sometimes doesn't set the dns. You can set it manually.
apple > system preferences > network
tcp/ip tab and enter address of dns servers
example 162.33.160.100
You will need to use a different number.

Not getting com.ibm.mq.jar and com.ibm.mqjms.jar files
Hi Sudhir,
Thank you very much for your guidance.
But I am not getting com.ibm.mq.jar, and com.ibm.mqjms.jar files. what do I have to do to get this file?
And do I require both these files in getting initial context for JNDI.
Thanks in advance.
Have a nice dayHay,
theres also a zip file from IBM titled MA88 that contain the jar files needed for supporting JMS programs in a Java env (these files are included there) and they're also included in WBI v5.2 and higher. -
Profile Imanges are not getting deleted from Profile Image library
Hi,
If I go mysite and edit my profile and set a profile images and save the changes. Image is uploaded to profile Image library in the root of the mysite.
I Edit my profile again and this time I remove the profile image and save the changes. Image is not getting deleted from the profile Image library.
as per my understanding it should get deleted. My site clean job is running. user profile is active in AD.
Thanks
OmkarMy first question would be is it a big deal if the picture doesnt get deleted from the libarary? My understanding is that the profile picture field is a URL link, the first time you add a picture it will provision 3 copies of differing sizes to the
library. When you "remove" the picture, it just empties out the picture URL field. Which is a nice hidden recovery if someone accidently deletes a profile photo they really wanted (Or if your company really locks down picutures so you only get
a choice of a couple avatars instead of a personal photo).
Similar issue:

and response:
Since the user photo library follows certain standards OOB:
http://iedaddy.com/2010/12/sharepoint-2010photo-management-for-social-mysites/
I would say just create a small script that will periodically read the UPS and make sure there are no photos sitting in the library not associated to an account... here's an example of accessing the User Profiles w/ Powershell:http://iedaddy.com/2010/06/sharepoint-2010-updating-user-profile-properties-with-powershell/
You would just modify it to delete image files whose name is not associated to an existing NTName in the UPS.

Editable ALV's in WD4A (Like in Straight ABAP OO)
Last year I had to master ABAP OO editable ALV's to put one in a MIGO dialog process exit. The editable ALV class methods are pretty cool and do a lot of the work for you. So while in NET310 this week, I was looking at all the SAP-provided WD4A ALV
