T41 re-installed Windows XP, now can't connect to Internet

I recently re-installed windows XP, but now I can not connect to the internet. I downloaded an Ethernet Intel Pro driver, however when following the steps to complete installation, I do not have any options under "Network Controllers" it says this driver is not found.
Can someone please advise what drivers need to be installed in order to connect to the internet again via ethernet and wireless?

  • Installed Windows 8 now can't get into Mac OS

NOOB MAC USER NEEDS IMMEDIATE HELP TO GET MACBOOK PRO WORKING AGAIN FOR SCHOOL!!!
I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to Mac's.  I recently installed Windows 8 Consumer Preview Release on my desktop and thought it was really neat.  The thought popped into my head to do the same to my Macbook Pro 15" using Boot Camp.  I swear I did everything right, and installed it the way it was supposed to be installed.  However, for some reason my Macbook isn't booting into OS X.  When I boot it up it boots straight into Windows 8 without a boot up selection or anything.  So, what I did is I used EasyBCD for Windows to edit the BOOTMGR add Mac OS X to the BOOTMGR to try and boot into OS X from the selection menu.  When I do that, a couple of screens pop up very quickly with some command line codes, and then it goes to a screen that says "Darwin/x86 boot v5.0.132 - Chameleon v2.0-RC4 r684" on the top left and one selection that says "Press any key to start up from Windows NTFS, or press F8 to enter startup options."  From here it's got "Macintosh HD" and "Windows NTFS".  I select "Macintosh HD" and a line pops up at the top left of the screen saying "Hibernate session is too old by 2077 seconds.  Use ForceWake=y to override."  However, I have no idea how to go by inputting that command to override the hibernate session.  I've tried looking up a way to get into the Mac "BIOS" or firmware to see if I could do it from there, but nothing seems to get me into it.
Once again, I'm a bit of a noob with Mac's.  I obviously made a boo-boo trying to do this without a veteran Mac user present or assisting me.  I'd GREATLY appreciate if I got some help to fix this ASAP because I use my Mac for school, and all my files and programs for school are essentially unreachable.
UPDATE:  Discovered that I had to hold down "Option" key to go into the EFI boot selection and was able to select the Macintosh HD and get into the Mac OS.  However, when I just turn the computer on and let it boot itself, using the BOOTMGR selection for the Mac OS, it goes through all the steps I outlined above.  I can boot into Windows 8 this way, but not to the Mac OS.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
This does not sound good. Any noise that is like a finger nail on scratchboard could be a sign the hard drive is nearly dead. Take it to an authorized service technician if the sound is reproducible.
Hopefully your data is backed up.

  • Installed windows 7, now can't boot OSX!

I just installed windows 7 on my Mac Pro, now when I restart, hold option and select my osx partition, I get white screen, then apple boot logo, then progress bar for a second, then computer shuts off! Same thing booting from a backup I have.
Disk utility reports an error with my main osx drive but no problem with the backup, but the backup exhibits the exact same behavior.
What did bootcamp do to me! This *****!!!!!

Windows 7 has not been tested for compatibility with Bootcamp, indeed most of the Bootcamp Drivers (drivers for Mac hardware) will not be tested to work with Windows 7. Since W7 hasn't been released yet I'm guessing this is an evaluation copy? Suggest you wait and use a genuine version of the final release of W7 or use Vista.

  • Formated macbook and now can't connect to internet

    Hello people,
I just formated my whole macbook because the windows version I installed on it wasn't working well and was actually slowing the mac.
I remade my disk one ( only 1 partition ), installed everything, but now I can't connect anymore with my ethernet cable. I try to plug it in my normal Computer next to it and internet works. It just only doesn't work with the macbook. It's very strange because before I formated it, everything was working well.
It cannot find the IP address alone and doesn't recognize the internet.
    Anyone got an idea?
    Thank you very much!
    Chris

  • Just upgraded iPhone 4 from 4.2 ios to 6.1.3 ios now can't connect to internet

I just updated my friend's iPhone 4 from 4.2 ios to 6.1.3 ios  --  she had not updated it since she purchased it.  The uploads installed fine but now she can't access safari/internet and can't send pictures via text message.  She is strictly 3g with no wireless access at her home.  Could this be caused by the software upgrade?  If not, how/where do I start looking for the problem.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi chuswysly,
If your friend if having trouble connecting to her cellular network, the steps below might help:
iPhone: Troubleshooting a cellular data connection
    Resolution
Follow the instructions below for assistance with troubleshooting cellular data issues on your iPhone. After performing each step, please test to see if the issue is resolved.
Toggle cellular data off and then on again on the iPhone: Tap Settings > General > Cellular.
    Restart your iPhone.
Check for a carrier settings update.
    Update your iPhone.
Remove the SIM Card and reinsert it. Allow the iPhone to reaquire the network.
If your SIM card has SIM PIN enabled, try toggling it off: Tap Settings > Phone > SIM PIN.
Try another location. If a different location works, but the original location still does not, contact your carrier to report the issue.
Reset network settings: Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
    Restore the iPhone as new.
Contact your carrier to verify that the iPhone is properly set up on the account with the appropriate, current data plan. If you are traveling internationally, you may need to turn data roaming on: Tap Settings > General > Cellular. Check with your carrier first to understand the cost of international data roaming. Also, see this article.
Note: If your carrier does not appear in this list, verify with your carrier that you are using the correct cellular data settings.
If none of the above steps resolves the issue, contact your carrier, make an appointment at an Apple Retail Store, or contact AppleCare to troubleshoot further.
    Hope this helps ...

  • Swapped out AE for TC and now can't connect to Internet!

    Hello all.
I just swapped out an Airport Express base station (the square one, not the old spaceship-shaped one) for a shiny new 1-TB Time Capsule. I figured that since 500 GB external hard drive for Time Machine backups is running out of space, so why not just get a TC so I don't have to worry about (a) hard drive space or (b) plugging in external drives again.
I unplugged the AE and plugged in the TC. Everything else is the same: The TC is plugged into a Verizon DSL modem, and we have two MacBooks in our house. I configured the TC using the Airport Utility. Everything appears to be OK, except that I can't connect to the Internet any more.
I have tried some of the tricks that have worked for other people on this discussion board -- namely, unplugging the DSL modem and the TC and restarting them. They don't appear to work. When I put the old AE back, everything works like a charm.
Has anyone run into this problem before? I'd be grateful for advice and ideas. I don't want to use the TC as a secondary wireless network device, like a range extender. It's a pricey piece of equipment and it should do what it says on the box. I'm pretty sure that the fault lies somewhere between the DSL modem and the TC, but I'm not clever enough with these things to figure it out on my own.

Same problem....3 calls to tech support and almost another one yesterday UNTIL I discovered that re-setting the TC (with the paperclip tool!) worked. The Airport Network, via TC, recognizes my Network and TC pops up into the airport Utility. i kept "losing TC in the Airport Utility page....it only showed AE/Base Station...not waht I wanted.
I unplugged the Express (previous model, one that was prior to "X" capability, ie b/g) and left it unplugged.....this must be an issue) My ONE TO ONE instructors have offered to have a look at it, the AE,at my next appointment.
I, too, have a DSL modem (Qwest) that I have unplugged without success (connections) Unplugging the units seems to work for some things but not this particular problem.
    Hope this helps.

  • My Windows 7 PC can't connect to Internet or see base station but wifi devices can?

I set up my airport extreme a week ago and configured it in my pc. Now my pc won't find the base station and I have no Internet access on my pc but all my wireless devices are fine. I've checked the cable. Please help

Hi - is your PC telling you that a network cable is unplugged or that a webpage cannot be found or both?

  • Pressed reset button on Tomato flashed WRT54GL , now can't connect to Internet

Hi everybody. I couldn't connect to the Internet yesterday and so I pressed the reset button on my WRT54GL which I flashed with Tomato firmware. This is the first time that I lost connection. I can access the http://192.168.1.1 site but I don't know what it the right configuration for my WRT54GL to be able to access the Internet. Did I bricked my router because I pressed the reset button? I can access the Internet when I plug the ethernet directly to my laptop. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

You have to ask in a forum for tomato firmware. They should know what happens if you press the reset button. Here, in this forum, we usually deal with Linksys firmware.

  • Moved computer to new desk; now can't connect to internet or network

I moved a computer to another office down the hall and now it won't connect to the internet or office network. Two other computers connected using the same ethernet plug and wire. Repaired permissions. Tried manually entering IP and using DHCP. What else should I try?

I'm no expert but maybe try adding a new location.
Network preferances -> location drop down -> new location
Then try manually entering all the information required.
    Just a wild guess...

  • Reset e3000 now can't connect to internet

i was having issues with one of my devices after a power outage.  all my other devices worked (laptops, xbox, iphones, etc)
i thought doing a reset on the router would get the odd device working again but all it did was mess up my internet.  i don't have the key or cd any longer from when i set it up.
i get internet just fine when i plug directly into the modem with a cable.
    thanx

possibly.... but it does see our network name at times (and others in the area at others).... it was a beast to connect the first day but finally did (we didn't do anything except keep telling it to connect over and over til it finally did).... and it kept connection except for one other power outage it didn't want to connect but finally did and had remained connected since (til the other day).... since then we've has a couple short outages and it just connected itself back again?
and the same thing with my printer:  it didn't want to connect back again but finally did... and it's doing the same thing (and the printer is on a surge protector)  so far after changing the IP in the router everything else is connected without doing anything.... just automatic like it always is!
the fridge is the samsung with wifi apps.... more of a gimmick, i guess... you get twitter (rolls eyes), pandora, weather (which i think is cool to have our weather/outside temp right there on the screen), some recipe app, and pictures (which again is cool on the screen saver!) oh... and AP headline news...

  • Ox s lion reinstall now can't connect to Internet

Reinstalled os x lion once finished I was no longer able to connect to the Internet! click on safari icon warning comes up immediately saying safari quit unexpectedly.  Click reopen to open application again. And it just brings up another warning box??

What version of Safari do you have? Are you able to access, for instance, your email accounts? Or is the problem just Safari?

    Pogs78,
first things first — buy an external drive to use as a Time Machine backup destination and make a back up. That way, you won’t lose anything which is currently on your MacBook Pro.
