T43, Upgrading motherboard/graphic card

Hello,
I want to upgrade my T43
It is a 2668-CTO if that helps
When I check the computer itself it tells me it has a Intel(R) M Processor 2.00 GHz
The memory is 1020mb and the processor type is a X86 Family6 Model 13 Stepping 8 GenuineIntel ~ 1995mhz
i would like to make it capable of playing graphics intensive games like Runes of Magic, a bit like WOW, without getting lags.
I would also like to be able to use a controller instead of the keyboard interface.
Is it possible to add more memory and would that make it work better?
Or would I need , and is it possible to, change the motherboard and the graphic card?
Apparently the graphics card is an ATI Mobility Radeon X300
I would be grateful for any help.
I love my T43 and am very happy with it for most things, would just like to improve it's gameplay
Thanks very much
Gay Elston

1. There is no better graphics card that you can add aftermarket, as the CPU is physically soldered to the motherboard.
2. Upgrading memory may help, depends on how short of ram your laptop is? How much ram usage do you get when you play the WOW? i.e. 70% you can check by pressing ctrl + alt + del.

  • Equium A100-027: Is it possible to upgrade the graphic card?

I recently received an Equium A100-027 for my birthday. Overall I'm extremely pleased with it, however the only problem I have is with the graphics card. I am a gamer, and the graphics card just can't handle most modern games.
I am looking into how to upgrade it, how much it will cost etc. However I don't wanna buy a graphics card just to realise that the inside is locked down. Since it's only a week old I also don't want to take a hammer to it just yet ;-)
Can anyone tell me how hard it is to upgrade the graphics card? Is it locked down, or easily accessible?

    Hi Emonn
Unfortunately, the graphic card upgrade is not possible. I dont know if you are familiar with the notebook technology but you should know that the graphic cards installed on the notebook motherboards are not same like the GPUs for desktop PCs.
The card a fixed and there is no way for an upgrade!!!
You can upgrade the memory modules or the HDD on the notebooks but not the graphic card!!!
Im also an gamer and Im a notebook owner but I dont use this unit for gaming but for usual usage like internet, programming, mps, etc
I have a second gaming machine and its a desktop PC. Its support a water cooling module and a really great graphic card but I will change it to the newest one NVIDIA which supports the directX10.
This is a future and all newest games will need this DrectX10!!!

    Hi,
Upgrading graphics chips on laptops is very difficult and mostly impossible because the chips are soldered to the motherboard. You can upgrade the graphics chip by replacing the motherboard with a compatible one which has a more powerful graphics chip. In your case it is a mobo with an Nvidia GF GT650M with 2GB of DDR5 RAM. However, the motherboard costs approx $600. The part number you need is:  682040-001.
It looks like M7series laptops are compatible with Dv7-6000 series laptops. See a service manual:

    Currently on Debian Wheeze

  • Upgrading the Graphics Card in HP ENVY h8-1414 Desktop Series PCs

What are the steps you need to do when Upgrading the Graphics Card  in HP ENVY h8-1414  Desktop Series PCs, with the HP M3970AM-HP (Angelica2) Motherboard. As it has no onboard video, so if the new card isn't installed correct you will not have picture on monitor.
    Going to install Radeon HD 6950 / 70 2GB DDR5

    Hi:
The only advice I can offer is to make sure you change the 2 BIOS settings required to be changed when you install a non-HP video card.
    See this link...
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c03653200&lc=en&jumpid=reg_r1002_us...
Also before you install the new video card, make sure you uninstall the driver from the old video card, shut down the PC and then install the new video card.
To uninstall the driver, go to the device manager, click to expand the display adapters category, right click on the display adapter listed there, select uninstall and check the uninstall driver box.  Do not reboot as prompted, shut the PC down.
However, I have no idea if the video card you intend to install is compatible with your PC.

  • Can I upgrade the Graphics Card in my Aspire T180?

Hi, I have an old Aspire T180-UB7Z. I want to upgrade the graphics card. What would be the best option I could go for which would not need any upgrades to the PSU or motherboard? I want one I can just plug straight in. What sort of things do I need to look for to make sure the new graphics board is compatable? Thanks for your help

Hello, Your desktop is equipped with a PSU of 250W and PCIEx16 1.0 slot.First I advise you to determine the total power with this tool.Like this you'll know the power available for the new graphic board.

  • Can i upgrade my graphics card in my HP envy 17-j102tx?what can i upgrade in this laptop?

HEllo sir,i bought this laptop for gaming purpose, but the graphics card ie nvidia 750M is too weak for gaming.so can i upgrade its graphics card?if no,is there any other option?can i exchange my laptop for a new laptop?because im totally unsatisfied with this laptop.and what can i upgrade in this laptop except ram.please help

HP actually loaned me a very similar laptop last year...an Envy 17-j029nr that had the 750M graphics and while the video was way above average, it was not a true gaming laptop. HP is not going to accept it back in trade after you have used it but it can be sold still for a decent sum and you can use the proceeds to buy a gaiming laptop. You might consider the HP Omen. It has nVidia 860 graphics with up to 4 gigs of DDR5 I believe for maybe $2200 all in. Right now I have the lower model Omen on loan from HP but mine is the version with the DDR3 video memory. It is much stronger than the 750M video in my old loaner.  Oh, and there is no way to upgrade what you have. The 750M was the best video offered in that model line. It is soldered to the motherboard so there is no "card" to remove and replace.  if this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

  • Can I Upgrade The Graphics Card?

Hello I am wondering if I can replace/upgrade my graphics card om my computer to a better one. I know it might be "soldered to the motherboard" but is there any way to desolder it, and if so, will I be able to replace it? If not, that would be ok, but i would be more pleased if for computers with "non-upgradable parts" the cpu and graphics card were a little more better.

Hi, De-soldering components from a multilayer motherboard is a delicate and tricky procedure. Even then there is no guarantee that you will not damage other nearby components.  I can tell you this from experience. Review the motherboard specifications. Soldering components to the motherboard is generally a cost saving measure.

  • Question about upgrading a graphics card of Satellite P200-13z

Can i upgrade the graphics card on my Satellite P200-13z? What are my various options and the corresponding prices?
I only have built in onboard intel 3D accelerator card.

    Hi
    Such questions were posted many times here in the Toshiba forum and there is only one answer;
Its not possible to upgrade the graphic card on any notebooks!!!!!
The GPU is mostly soldered and fixed on the motherboard and its impossible to remove it!!!
You ask for various options? Well I read about external graphic cards for notebooks but in my opinion this is not a real option and dont think the performance of such graphic card would be much better as your internal graphic card in the P200 notebook

  • Is it possible to upgrade the graphics card on a mid 2012 MacBook Pro? And is it possible to upgrade the RAM without voiding the warranty?

Hi I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade the graphics card on a MacBook Pro and the RAM without voiding the warranty? I have a gt 650m in my MacBook Pro, non retina, and to me, its not enough power for me, so i was looking around, and I found a retailer that would give me a nvidia gtx 660m for a decent price. Also, the ram needs to be at least 12gbs, to ensure that my computer would run fast.
If you can help, please tell me,
    Thankyou.

No, the video card cannot be exchanged - you have a pretty decent GPU there; not sure why you'd want to switch it out. You can upgrade the RAM to a maximum of 16GBs. Apple recommends upgrading in matching pairs, so I don't really think I'd try 4GB and 8GB stick.
Both Crucial and OWC have memory available for the new Macs. Both are reputable dealers and know Macs well and I would only buy from these sources (and I would buy Crucial, were it me).
Although your Mac didn't come with a users manual outlining the installation of the additional RAM, you can download the late 2011 model users guide as the models themselves are almost identical.
Good luck - write back with any questions.

  • Is It Possible To Upgrade The Graphics Card In A Late 2006 MacBook (original)?

I have this Late 2006 Macbook, that still runs great and everything, but the only problem iv been running into, is video. So when i watch a video in QuickTime Player, or QuickView, or even YouTube, the video just randomly starts to flip out. So, is it possible to upgrade the Graphics Card?

    Sorry, not possible.

  • Is it possible to upgrade the graphics card in the HP ENVY 17-j053ea?

    Hi
I'm considering buying the HP ENVY 17-j053ea for use as a portable workstation for applications such as Max Design, autocad and photoshop as a second system for when I need to be away from the office but still need the ability to work.
This machine seems to have a lot of bang per buck and is more in line with my budget than a full on portable workstation.
As far as upgrade options I presume I could max out the ram at 16GB and put in an SSD as the main OS and application drive and use the main 1TB drive as the mass storage unit.
What I'm wondering is if it possible to upgrade the graphics card in this machine?
I don't imagine I would be attempting such an upgrade myself but assuming I leave it into a professional is this possible.
My worry is that with some of my heavier model files I could feel the limitations of the mid range portable gfx card onboard. I could probably live with it if it is not an option but just putting feelers out.

    Thanks for the reply Paul
    I see.
    That doesn't sound feasible so.
I can manage the other 2 upgrades within my budget but things seem to get quite expensive on the higher end platforms very quickly.
It's my first foray into the laptop/workstation arena so I'm not that familiar yet with clever upgrade strategies.
I did have the use of this model for a few days and It is a really nice overall laptop, both aesthetically and value wise.

  • Do I need to upgrade my graphics card before installing CS6?.....currently

Do I need to upgrade my graphics card before installing CS6.....currently have Nvidia quadro FX1800 with CS5.......what card would be recommendation for a one man operation that would like to take advantage of the mercury playback engine?

I agree with the recommendations for the GTX 660+. I also second John's advice to completely uninstall the existing Quadro drivers before you swap cards.
And that Quadro FX 1800 never worked with MPE GPU acceleration even in CS5 because although it has CUDA capability, it has only 768MB total VRAM on the card. MPE GPU acceleration requires a minimum of 765MB of free, unused VRAM - but a 768MB card leaves only 749MB of free, unused RAM because the Windows GUI itself consumes nearly 20MB of VRAM. And even if the FX 1800 had 1GB of VRAM, it would be sluggish-performing by current standards because the FX 1800 is really based on a downclocked GeForce 9600 GT (with only 64 CUDA cores) with a narrower memory bus width (192 bits instead of 256 bits, both DDR3).

  • I sit possible to upgrade the graphics card in my Macbook Pro?

I own a macbook pro 2.4 ghz intel core duo, 4gb ram with NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256 MB graphics card. I'm finding this graphics card pretty shocking when it comes to even the simplest of 3D games...i know probably my fault for choosing a laptop not suitable for gaming but still i did expect it to be able to handle graphics like on football manager.
Anyway my question is, is there any way to upgrade my graphics card and how much would it cost?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I wouldn't expect Skype or iWork to be a problem. I don't know Spotify.
Have you used Disk Utility to correct permissions? This is a routine maintenance procedure that can improve some things. If you are not familiar with using this utility it's sufficient to see at the end 'permissions repair complete' or similar. There are likely to be some messages saying certain things couldn't be corrected but usually these are not serious issues.
The other thing to watch is whether you are running on battery power or mains. When there is intensive processor activity & some other internal activities too the computer might need mains power to perform at its best. You can try various things on battery alone then on battery & mains together and compare performance.

    Cori, welcome to the forum.
The power supply unit (PSU) is external and only 180W.  Also, there is no PCIe slot.  Therefore, you can't upgrade the video card.
