T4i Rebel error message "movie recording has stopped automatically"

I was recording my client when suddenly I got a this error message "movie recording has stopped automatically" and I could not record video anymore. I am recording on a class 10 sandisk Ultra card. 720/60, EFS18-135mm lens. Never had any problems in the past. First I get a small veterical meter on the frame and then after 5 secs the recording stops with this error message. Please tell me it is opeartor error...I have had this camera for 2 years now and never had a problem. I tried multiple cards.

Either you or the person you spoke to at Canon was confused.
What the camera requires for video purposes is a card which is "at least" Class 6 or faster.  The class designation is an indicator of the cards data transfer speed.  Class 6 actually means the card is capable of transfering data (either reading or writing) at "at least" 6 megabytes per second.  A Class 10 card can transfer data at "at least" 10 megabytes per second.
The T4i is also compatible with "UHS-1" cards... which are significantly faster than eithe Class 6 or 10.
The reason for requiring "at least" Class 6 has to do with how fast the camera is attempting to capture and save frames of video to the card.  The camera actually has an internal memory buffer which is very fast.  When you start recording, the data is being saved to that buffer... and simultaneously the camera also starts taking the data from the buffer and saving it to the memory card (which is slower).  If the camera is recording video only slightly faster than the card can record, then it will actually take a few minutes before the buffer is completely filled.  But at that point the camera has no choice but to stop recording because it has absolutely no place to save data ... the internal buffer is full and it can't empty the buffer because the memory card can't save data as fast as new frames of video are coming in.
Faster is always better.
Memory cards do actually wear out and develop errors over time.  This is normal.  A good card will re-map the bad blocks so they aren't used anymore... and this is why you should do a low-level format IN CAMERA (not using the computer).  Good cards also have a "memory leveling" technology to try to use all the blocks roughly an equal number amount.   This extends the userful life of the card.
When replacing the card, do not skimp on quality!  I cannot emphasize that point enough.  Most times when someone brings up this issue... it's the card that is having problems and not the camera.   
It's easy to produce forgery cards which look like a good brand but are not.  Buy GOOD cards from REPUTABLE dealers.  Do not shop for the cheapest website on the Internet with a questionable reputation in order to save a couple of bucks.
Lexar brand and SanDisk brand are good. 
When buying memory cards, I only buy cards from Lexar and SanDisk.  I also buy their highest end cards (by speed performance... not necessarily their biggest capactiy cards).  I buy the cards from dealers with a solid reputation.  This avoids the unpleasant error messages which always seem to happen at the worst possible time.

    Hi, guys. I've never had this problem with my T3i/SD card until tonight, and I'm not sure what the problem is because I have the Sandisk Extreme Pro, 32 GB SD card that reads 95 MB/s. What could be the problem? The video stops recording after about 5-10 seconds if I'm playing my piano and it has to record me. My SD card has 17GB of space, so that can't be it, can it? Sadly enough, I don't have another SD card to test this with.
    I have also formatted the card again and it works better, but every other video or so, it stops recording automatically. For some reason it's only doing it when I'm recording myself doing something complex, such as playing drums or the piano.
    Any thoughts?

    If the camera stops recording after 5-10 seconds intermittently ("...every other video or so, .."), it is trying to tell you something.
    The camera has stopped the recording because it has been instructed to do so. You are confident that the shut-down isn't due to running out of space on the card so I'll discount that diagnosis. You have previously been able to get a good long recording of the same sort of subject successfully. That suggests that the card was reliable at one time but it doesn't mean it is still reliable.
    The camera might also shut the camera down if it senses overheating of the internal electronics. This is usually the case when filming a scene with a lot of action. You described that you film yourself drumming and I would think that would qualify as a fairly energetic activity. The reason for the overheating is that the camera uses a compression algorithm (mathematical code) to save the file. The more "changes" there are in a scene, the harder the camera works to stuff all that activity efficiently on your card. This hard work creates considerable heat. If you were to record yourself drumming and had just finished a 15 minute clip, it might be necessary to let the camera cool down before resuming shooting.
    Finally, the room temperature has a effect on how well the camera can shed the heat it builds up. If you had been filming is a realitively mild temperature and moved the camera to a higher temperature area (adding lights might create considerable heat), the camera will not perform as well as it previously did.
    Your camera has a way of telling you it is overheating. Check your manual (p 151) and if you don't have one, go online and get one.

    I just bought a brand new sandisk 'extreme pro' 32g card, and set the camera on a windowsill trying to record a jar. It still stopped recording after a few seconds.  It has done this with the last three cards I've tried in it. This is pretty much a brand new camera.

    perusing the interwebs a bit more, i decided to give magic lantern a try. Seems to be working. (There goes my warranty). Also changed the framerate from 29.97 to 24, but, really Canon...if you're going to sell me a camera that claims to record 1080 29.97 on an sd card you should either sell it with a BIG disclaimer or provide cards that you know will work.

    Unlikely.  Based on the complete lack of detail of the issue provided it is entirely possible the same issue would occur.
    Unless and until the user provides some actual details of the problem, there is nothing the indicate that the issue is with the iPhone.

    Can you open Reader by itself?  If so, check if disabling Protected Mode improves the situation [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].

    This may sound bizarre, and you may not have the same situation as I found, but check your system/Windows date setting.
    Somehow, the year on my system had become 2096. I corrected it, and bingo! PSE 8 Editor works again.

  • Adobe Acrobat X Pro - Error Message : "Adobe Acrobat Has Stopped Working"

    I use Windows 7 - 64bit / CS6 Master Collection that has Adobe Acrobat x Pro.
    When the computer is on for a little while, Acrobat would generate the error message that it has stopped working and then shuts down. Once that error message occurs, I cannot get Acrobat to stay open. It opens the PDF document, stays open for a few seconds then the error message occurs and it shuts down.
    What helps for a short term is to restart the computer. This seems to temporarily remove the error until the computer is on for a while then the error returns.
    This problem repeats. Product repair feature does not work. This has nothing to do with the license, I tried that fix and it made no differnce. I do not have this issue with other Adobe products included in the master collection.
    It seems fruitless and frustrating to send a message to Adobe Support, the run around with pages and links is like smacking walls on every turn, it is obvious Adobe does not want people contacting their support. Service from Adobe for their products is poor.
    I hope that someone here has the answer to the problem. Anyone?

    Ok, here is the update.
    The link: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/acrobat-failed-launch-30-days.html , leads to a webpage that says to download a fix ZIP file named: "Acrofix.ZIP". It contains the file "acrofix.exe".
    I did use this "exe" file about 2 months ago and it did nothing to fix the issue. I used it again today, because the same issue of "Adobe Acorbat has stopped working", occurred again and again it did not work, the problem of "Adobe Acrobat stopped working" presists. Again the only work around, which is temporary, is to reboot the computer.
    So far these do not work:
    Relicensing or Registering the Licence
    Acrofix.exe
    Anyone else have an answer? - or am I the only one suffering this really annoying issue?

    i uninstall and delete the mozilla firfox in my directory and reinstall tha lastest version but its still showing the same error message.

    i experienced the same problem. this is what i did:
    *right click firefox
    *click properties
    *click compatibility tab
    * check "Run this program in compatability mode for:"
    * on dropdown choose Windows 7.
    * click ok or apply.
    this solution solved my problem.i hope it will work on yours too.

  • What happened?  Tried to open Elements 8 and error message says "Photoshop has stopped working."

    The Welcome screen somes up but then fades and error message says "Photoshop has stopped working."  Then Windows closes the program.
    I shut down the computer, waited, then did restart, clicked on PSE, and the same message came up again.  That was last night,  thought I might get a message this morning, but same thing happened again.  I'm trying to not panic - this is all new to me.

    When I start Photoshop I get an error message "clc.exe has stopped working".  I have the latest version drivers for my Acer X23H and HP 2311 LCD monitors so upgrading them is not possible.  Is there any other fix I can try?

    I've just downloaded and installed the very latest drivers from AMD and installed them.  Still, I get the "clc.exe has stopped working" errors when I launch PS.  I do not get this, or any other errors, when opening or running any other programs, and have never once gotten a blue screen or had any failures in this system for the two or three years it's been running.
    While it's remotely possible that there is some error in AMD's latest (and previous) drivers for this video card, what seems to fit the symptoms I have, is that there is some problem in Adobe's code.
    Previous versions of Photoshop open and run fine on this system.  Other CAD and graphics programs run fine, too, with no crashes, lockups, or failures.
    Still, if there's something else that needs to be updated for my video system, to make the Adobe errors go away, I'm open to do whatever updates are necessary.  I'm running an AMD Radeon HD 5700 series display adapter, driver date 11/20/2014, version 14.501.1003.0.  Device manager says the device is working properly (for whatever that's worth).
    The computer is running Win 7 64 bit ultimate.  Processor is AMD Phenom II X6 1090T six-core processor.  All has been running flawlessly for several years, and continues to do so with every application except Adobe Photoshop 14.501.1003.0.
