T61 and Presentation director 4.03

Hi, I have a T61 notebook, upgraded ThinkVantage software and now I am facing serious problem with Presentation director. When I open the presentation chooser with Fn+F7, I can see all old profiles to be imported from previous version. The problem is when I go to the schemes manager. In the manager's screen I only see a blank window with title "Fn+F7 menu" and "Display Scheme Name". No schemes are listed below :-( So I guess I can not add, remove, change schemes...
I tried to uninstall the manager and install it again, the old schemes disapeared but the problem persists...
Do you have any idea or help?... Thanks, B.

I've had problems with 4.03 version also. One T61 had profiles just messed up, Presentation profile was disappearing from the menu and was working only occasionally.
Also, on T60 all profiles were missing, if you tried to create a new one it would not recognize the monitor! I already did a reinstall but it didn't help at all.
New 4.0x version has been problematic from the beginning, I have faced numerous problems with it. Even the user interface is "messed up". I have taught people to use Presentation Director, but if this is the quality they will soon start experimenting with Windows and/or nvidia settings...

  • Presentation Director loses settings when switching between Chinese and English

I've done the "Install files for East Asian languages" and then set the "Language for non-Unicode programs" to "Chinese (PRC)". I do this for our presales people so they can show our prospects that our software is translated (for those that have plants in China and the US). I have the default language set to English. I don't believe it's relevant but I should also mention that this is on a Lenovo T61 with XP-SP3.
When I use the Presentation Director (Fn+F7) most of the screen shows in Chinese. The ones I've added show in English (I have a screen snapshot). I also get Chinese characters in other Lenovo utilities as well.
So I figured I'd just change the "Language for non-Unicode programs" back to English, reboot, and the display would be OK. Not so! The display is in English all right, but NOTHING appears in the window - none of the default settings, none that I added, JUST NOTHING! I have a snapshot of this as well.
I changed the Unicode setting back to Chinese, reboot, and Presentation Director shows all of them still there, some in Chinese and some in English like before.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can get the Presentation Director utility to display properly (in English) and show all the original settings as well? Obviously the settings are stored somewhere since when Chinese is turned on it can display them.
    Thanks in advance!

  • SL300 - Ultranav Driver, EasyEject utility, Presentation Director

    Hi,
I have problems getting the touchpad to work and quite few other features after installing win7.
Right now the UltraNav driver wont install, tried both versions:

I installed the UltraNav Utility, got no errors on this install:

Anyone else having troubles getting the driver to work on a SL300?
I also cant find a compatible driver for EasyEject and Presentation Director - any tip on where i can find one or when it might be released, would be awesome
And, I am still worried about the registry patches:

Will these work on win 7? Should i install them when they are noted as compatible with vista?

  • Does Presentation Director support rotated monitors on nVidia cards in a T61?

I'm finding it doesn't. Some of the people here have extra monitors they like to rotate 90 degrees. Presentation Director is not happy.

  • Presentation Director and Access Connections when Docking

When I dock my machine, it automatically selects the right presentation mode because of the way that I configured Presentation Director.  It would be nice if it could automatically select the right Access Connection too.  Is this possible?  Is there a way to select docking actions like there is a way to select eject options?

    Hi,
in case you update Access Connection, you must already have also following updates installed:
    - Power Management driver
    - Power Manager
    -Hotkey utility
    - System interface driver
    - Wifi driver <for AC 5.x it must be 13.x version>
<all of course with the latest version>
Once this all is installed, you can install AC .
Let me know, if you have also the latest version of the above driver/updates on the system prior to the installation of AC .In case not, just remove AC, install the above mentioned updates and then install AC 5.x

  • BSOD - latest Presentation Director is suspect - can anyone confirm and advise?

BSOD Issue.  After wasting 2 days reinstalling, using R&R etc. it seems to be related to loading profiles in Presentation Director. I went through the trouble of installing debugging tools, and with this helpful article http://www.networkworld.com/news/2005/041105-windows-crash.html?page=1 I made some progress.
But I am stretching the limit of my technical capability. Pasted below is the debugging info. Can someone advise?

    Hello Joel,
try to uninstall and install prasentation manager.
May be the old version, stored in factory condition to c:\SWTools will help you out?
Install that version, if the new versions is causing problems.
You should also read the installation instructions carefully, because some programs are dependend to others
    like Energiemanager or Hotkey-Features.
I would suggest not touch a running system, some updates can mess your system up.

  • T61 and the Intel Graphics Card error - external monitor not detected

T61 with Vista 32 bit, Mobile Intel® GM965 Express Chipset and an Advanced Mini Dock.
I am trying to use the DVI port and an external monitor. The driver does not detect the external monitor.
Uninstalling the Intel driver the Generic profile will work on the external monitor, but is overly fuzzy, how do I get the T61 to recognize my external monitor with the right drivers?
I am currently running the Intel Driver Ver. - 7.14.10.1329, which provides the message under Multiple Display:
Two displays must be connected to the computer before you can use this feature. Please connect another display.
Of course my 22" monitor is connected.  That is the frustrating part.  I have also uninstalled Presentation Director, just in case, but then re-installed after it seemed that wasn't the problem.
There is a newer driver from Intel but it is not Lenovo approved yet I guess. Though I highly doubt this is the problem. What can I do?
    ~~
I did post a thread on the thinkpads.com too, but so far haven't had any luck.

Well the new dock came but didn't fix the problem.  Now my nice new T61 is packed up in a depot box, waiting for DHL to come pick it up.
dkaufman1 -- I guess we do have different problems.  If I set my T61 to display to the DVI port in the bios I get a blank screens on both the DVI connectd monitor and the laptop screen until the OS boots when I have the laptop in the dock.  The only way I can see the bios screen to set it back to the ThinkPad LCD setting is to boot it disconnected from the dock.
I really hope that this problem is resolved, as I really like the T61 otherwise.  I was even using it with the VGA cable connected to my 22" monitor, but it was pretty hard to take.   I'm now back to my old desktop hooked up to the same monitor via DVI and it is quite the relief, even if it isn't as zippy as the T61.

  • T61 and dual displays

    Hi there
I have a T61 which a dock and two external monitors connected.  HP L2035 (1600x1200) on the DVI and Dell 1907FP on the VGA.
Everything used to work just fine, until some windows update was installed few days ago. Now I can't get the HP display to work.
When I try to change to that monitor via the directorI get the erro:
The following settings you have selected cannot be applied properly. Change the settings and try again. Notebook LCD Resolution Color Quality.
But when I try to change to the HP display via the  nview control pana, nothing happens.
    I someone else experiencing this?
I have tried to install the latest Precentation Director for the lenovo/ibm site and also the latest NVIDIA  drivers for the Quadro NVS 140M.

Yes i had same error but updating presentation director fixed that error. yes i see that you already tested this but i just wanted to tell if this helps someone else.
or maybe you could try this:
    -uninstall presentation director
    -reboot
    -install presentation director
-Remake display profiles to presentation director.

  • T42 LCD is dark, external monitor sometimes works, Presentation Director seems worthless

On Friday, my LCD went dark. When I looked really hard, I could see all the screens that I'd been working with, but I couldn't bring them to light. If I shut the cover and waited for the machine to suspend itself, then opened the cover, I'd get the LCD back, for 10-15 minutes. Then the LCD would go dark again.
When I connected the T42 to an external screen, the LCD contents appeared on the other screen,  and then the the LCD came back. While I had screen(s), I did a bunch of  system updates (from Lenovo) and ran PCDoctor several times. Everything checked out.
When  I disconnected the external drive, I lost the LCD again. I tried to work with the Presentation Director, but the T42 just doesn't want to obey. The Fn F7 keys are working inconsistently. I am in doctoral student hell, facing (what feel like) already impossible deadlines and I have to get this thing working. Does anybody have any suggestions?

  • ThinkPad Presentation Director

Put Win 7 on the G 41. Lost the Presentation Director. Is Lenovo working on a download to work with Win 7 for that OR is there 3rd party software to take its place? The generic driver Win 7 installs will not recognize the second screen (digital video projector).
        Nick629

Whoa, someone with the exact same T61 model as me. I too have a 7662-CTO, and I own a Samsung SyncMaster 205BW (20inch widescreen monitor with native 1680 x 1050 resolution).
I have experienced no problems is displaying 1680x1050 with the Nvidia Quadro 140M. I haven't installed any special monitor driver file, but maybe your Samsung model needs one?
Judging from the pictures you posted, I would try the monitor config settings on the monitor itself. Can you try to adjust the picture there? Also, what exactly are the steps you using to get the output? I typically have just done it within videos where I select the external display and say "extend desktop to external monitor" and then slide the resolution setting to 1680x1050 and it comes up fine.

  • Presentation Director Annoyances

I have a Lenovo T61 running Windows XP SP2.  Both Presenation Director and the NVIDIA display drivers are up to date.  I have a dual monitor setup, using a 19" LCD monitor and the laptop LCD display.  There are 2 annoyances that would be great if they can be fixed (it seems like they should be no big deal).
    1) When I undock the laptop (previously running in extended desktop mode), the display settings do not change.  I would have expected the display settings to switch to the LCD only setting.  Instead, I have to press Fn+F7, and manually select Factory Default Notebook Display Settings (LCD Only) in order to switch the display to the LCD only.  Is there any way to update the system or modify settings to make this happen automatically?
    2) My external monitor is physically larger than the laptop LCD, and I have the display resolutions set accordingly.  Presentation Director (PD) defaults the 2 monitors to be aligned at the top edges of the screen, but my physical setup has them aligned at the bottom of the screen.  Everytime I apply my Normal PD profile, I have to go into the windows Display Properties dialog box and drag the (smaller) laptop monitor down to line up the bottom edges of the screen.  Is there any way to update PD to align monitors at the bottom edge instead of the top edge?
    Thanks.
    -John Zelno

    Hi,
yes, I'm fuly agreed with the point, that you want to show. I't a bit bad, that it's not that easy to get a Win7 Presentation Director version.
However, there is one fact, that needs to be understood and this is, that it will take some time to get arround this. Win7 brought new structure and there were multiple parts changed which affected also ThinkVantage applications.
I'm pretty sure, that there are some background workers that we discussing some new application that will work on Win7 and will be from the ThinkVantage group. Unfortunately till now is there no such tool from Lenovo.
    Sad news
    Cheers

  • Presentation Director error

I just upgraded to the latest version of Presentation Director on a T61 and now I get the following message when I try to start the program:
"Presentation Director detected the Lenovo USB Port Replicator with video.  Please push the button on the front of port replicator or use the Lenovo display adapter task try icon for dual display control."
The message appears even when I am not using the port replicator.  In addition, my port replicator does not have a button on the front and there is no display adapter task try icon.  Prior to upgrading the version of Presentation Director I did not have any problems with the program.
    Any suggestions are appreciated.

Hi, I also lost the Fn-F7 functionality due to company wide hotkey upgrade. I did the procedure as in the provided linek (also other updates required) and now when I start to install new presentation director it says:
Run a DLL as an App has encountered a problem and needs to close.
    and then:
Internal error: failed to load LENOVO_GetSystemType
I also tried the tricks listed on

but it did not succeed: Fn-F7 functionality is still missing
    Any more hints, please?

  • T61 and port replicator with 2 monitors

I have a T61, 6460-66U, connected to a port replicator. My laptop stays closed and out of sight. I have a Y connector going from the analog video port to each of the LCD monitors. The displays work, but they are clones of each other. I want one to be the main monitor and the other to be the extended desktop. The video card in this T61 is a Nvidia Quadtro NVS 140M. Please help!

    Guybak, welcome to the forum,
I'm not sure it will work with a Y connector. I've never tried it so you are more than welcome to prove me wrong
What will work is attaching one screen to the VGA and the other to the DVI on the Mini-Dock. You can then create a profile in Presentation Director where you must disable the ThinkPad screen in order for it to work. I decribed it in this thread, but unfortunately the member never came back to say it worked for them, I must presume yes.

I have a T41 and have attached it to a Sony WEGA TV.  I can get the the systems linked but the picture is black and white only.
Since I want to review photos on the TV, how do I get color?

Presentation Director is not supported for use with Windows 7, so that is why you are unable to run it.
Win 7 has presentation facilities built-in, so does not require an additional utility.
