Hi, i old computer broke a few years ago. I purchased a new lap top and accessed my itunes account but cant play my old songs without authorizing my new computer but cant seem to find the option???

You should have a Store menu option at the top of it (you may need to press Alt-S on a PC with iTunes 11 for it to appear) e.g. screenshot from a Mac :

The process to activate a computer in itunes is similar for Mac and Windows.
On the Mac OS X start iTunes. Click on Store in the menu bar and choose authorize this computer. In the text Field enter your apple id username and password and click ok. You should receive a message stating “Including this one you have authorized X computers out of your available 5”, Where X is the number of devices you have authorized with your apple ID.
Please note that you can authorize maximum 5 computers with the same apple id.
That means you can play the content you purchased with that Apple ID on up to 5 computers.

About authorization and deauthorization

I cannot figure out how to authorize my new computer in the newest iTunes. The controls are different and when I go into my AZpple ID, there is nothing that allows me to authorize.

I have looked up how to do this and it tells me to go the store and from from the "store menu" choose "authorize the computer." Where is the store menu? I cannot find anything to drops down and show an authorize command. I am lost. This is the latest iTunes on a Windows 8 computer. HELP!

How do I transfer music from my iPod nano 4 to my new mac when my old one is broken

Well, I have an iPod nano 4 and a MacBook Pro (2009 or whatever) with iTunes 11 and my old hard drive broke in it and I lost all my music. I did not have a backup but I realised I still had it all on my nano. I need to transfer it all to my computer without re-downloading all the music but I don't know how. I'm able to open up the iPod in iTunes and look at the music on it, play it and even copy it (when it's connected) but I can't paste it or drag it anywhere. Please will someone help me.

There is no link for Authorize this Computer (or anything else for that matter). Does anyone know how to authorize a new computer?

It is at the top of your computer with File, etc

Apple allows you a deauthorize all option once every 12 months.

Deauthorize all computers
After you authorize two computers, you'll have the option to deauthorize all computers for your Apple ID. You can deauthorize all computers once a year.
Just like deauthorizing a single computer, you won’t delete anything if you choose to deauthorize all computers. You just won’t be able to play content that you bought from iTunes on those computers. After you deauthorize all, you can easily authorize computers again one by one. Just follow the steps to authorize a Mac or PC.
Here's when you should deauthorize all your computers:
If a computer doesn't work anymore
If you don't have one of your computers
If you used 5 authorizations and want to authorize a new computer
To deauthorize all your computers, follow these steps using one of your authorized computers:
1.Click to open your account in iTunes (you may need to sign in with your Apple ID), or follow these steps:
     a. Open iTunes and click iTunes Store.

I recently got a new computer. My previous computer has iTunes but is no longer able to access the internet. I was able to get my music library from my original computer to the new one. When I try to play music, I get a window asking me to authorize the new computer. I fill in the account and password and press the authorize button. It accepts the password then asks me to download iTunes 6.0. I downloaded and installed iTunes 6 but every time I try to play any of my music, it sends me to the music library to download iTunes 6 again.
