  • Ipod nano does not charge

hi, i am having problems with my ipod nano first generation, it started when i backdated my ipod as i could not connect it to my powerbook and i could not install the latest edition of itunes, but now i have installed the latest edition of ituens and i have updated my ipod as well but it still does not charge, i have tried to plug the usb into a socket and plug it into the wall and it charges for a bit but then it just displays the screen and stops chrging, sometimes it displays the battery on its own, sometimes it makes a buzzing sound and sometimes charges but while charging it says that i do not have anymore battery power, could someone please help it would be much appreciated!!!! thank you!!

I'm having the same problem, my ipodnano is about a year old and I can't figure out what to do. I just installed the new itunes on my new laptop with vista premium. I'm desperate for a resolution, do you have any suggestions at all. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you

  • 6th gen iPod Nano does not play songs

Today, for no apparent reason, my 6th gen iPod Nano has stopped playing songs. When I select a song, the Play button changes to a Pause button, just as it normally would if the song was playing, but the track does not play, and no time elapses on the song progress bar - it just remains at 0:00. If I fast forward through the song, the song progress bar remains at whatever time I advance it to. I've pressed Play/Pause repeatedly to try and get the songs to play, but nothing happens other than the Play/Pause icon toggling back and forth between playing and paused.
This happens when I try to play any song or podcast on the iPod. It was able to play every song as recently as yesterday. All of these songs and podcasts play just fine on iTunes and on any other iPod, iPhone or iPad that I sync them to.
I have restarted the Nano several times. I've also done a complete restore of the Nano from scratch. I've got the latest version of iTunes, and all of the other functionality works just fine on the Nano.
    Any thoughts?

Problem appears to be solved, thanks to the downtown Portland Apple Store Genius Bar. Apparently there was some sort of conflict with the permissions for the music (even though I own all of it, and all of the media played just fine on all of my other iOS devices).
To fix it, I went to the iTunes "Store" menu, chose "Deauthorize this computer" and followed the prompts. I then quit iTunes, restarted iTunes and double-clicked a TV show that I had purchased. This prompted me to re-authorize my computer, which I did.
I then synced a couple of songs, and they played just fine. I restored the rest of my playlists, and I'm happy to say that everything is behaving a-ok now. Phew!

  • IPod nano does not charge & is not recognized by computer or iTunes

    I have a 1st generation nano 1 GIG.
    It appears "dead."
It is not recognized by My Computer, iTunes or the Ipod Updater (The updater asks that I connect the iPod, which I do). The iPod diagnostics through iTunes also reports that my iPod is not connected.
I have tried my iPod on 4 different machines, with one of them having USB 2.0.
I tried the following from Jeff Bryan. (I don't know if the links from his post have carried over into this post.) So I will list the things I have tried near the end of this post.
    - My iPod won't turn on.
    - iPod battery doesn't charge.
    - iTunes 7 doesn't recognize the iPod.
    - Your Windows PC doesn't recognize iPod.
    - iPod appears in Windows Explorer but does not appear in iTunes.
    - iPod does not appear in iTunes.
    - Fast user switching in Windows XP is not supported.
I tried resetting my iPod by switching the Hold button on and off and then pressing Menu and the Select button for 6-10 seconds. I have done this over and over and over.
I have uninstalled the latest iTunes, reboot, reinstall - same problem.
I have stopped the iPod service, plugged in the iPod, but it isn't recognized by My Computer as stated in the Apple Do-It-Yourself Help. I launched iTunes - same problem.
I used the window cleanup utility, reboot, reinstall iTunes, connect iPod - same problem.
I have used the Windows ipconfig utility to change my boot parameters, but still nothing.
If anyone has any ideas, I would greatly appreciate them.
My iPod is just shy of 6 months.
I do have a replacement contract with Best Buy - but I would like to cover all the bases before I succumb to defeat.
    Thanks

  • My 6th gen Ipod nano does not show up in Itunes or in My Computer

I do not think that this is a problem with my computer because I own an older 5th gen nano and have never had problems with it before. Both my computer and Itunes has no problem seeing the older Ipod right now. I have followed the troubleshooting guides and I'm still stumped on why my new Ipod won't appear. I've read several disscussions and haven't found the fix yet. My newer Ipod has been connected to another computer before but I don't know whether it was a Mac or a PC, and I believe that is the problem. I was thinking maybe it would help if I completely reset my Ipod, I don't mind losing any music, but I have no idea how to if I can't connect it to my computer. Please tell me how to reset it to facory settings or if you think that something else will work I'm completely willing to try that too. Thank you.

    Thanks for a reply
The cable that I'm using came with my 5th gen nano. The 6th gen Ipod shows that it's connected but the computer doesn't see it, so I don't think that it's the cable.
I did try this before when looking at the troubleshooting guide and nothing happens. It just resets and then the Ipod screen tells me that it's connected to the computer. It still is unseen by Itunes and no where to be found in my computer.
I don't have another computer to plug it into at the moment but I may be able to visit a friend that owns a decent PC in a few days. If that doesn't work out I will be getting a new lap top in a week and I'm hoping that it will work on that, but it won't be a Mac. So, let's say it works when I plug it into one of these computers, should I reset my Ipod from there or is there something else I should do?

  • Ipod nano does not appear in itunes

My 7th generation iPod nano does not appear in iTunes on a Windows 8 PC since installing the 11.1.4.62 update.  I have now tried every step from the recommended KB:  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1363 with no relief.  Windows sees the iPod just fine...

Same problem. Also Windows 8... There is no problem at all with a Windows 7 computer.

  • Why does my 16gb 6th generation ipod nano skip and stutter during playback?

Why does my 16gb 6th generation ipod nano skip and stutter during playback?

    Try a hard reset first.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Volume Down button
until the screen goes dark. The Apple logo appears after a few seconds,
    and then the Home screen.
If that doesn't work, try a restore of the device in iTunes.
Otherwise, does this skipping and stuttering only happen with certain tracks?  What format are these tracks in and where they come from (outside of iTunes or from the iTunes store itself)?

  • MY new Ipod Nano does not hold a charge.  I use it mostly as a watch, perhaps look at it 5 or 6 times in 8 hours, and leave it in sleep mode the rest of the time.  I drains to the red line in less than 2 days.  My husband's nano will last a week this way.

MY new Ipod Nano does not hold a charge.  I use it mostly as a watch, perhaps look at it 5 or 6 times in 8 hours, and leave it in sleep mode the rest of the time.  I drains to the red line in less than 2 days.  My husband's nano will last a week this way.  I thought it drained because of looking at photos, so I quit looking at them and it made no difference.  Am I doing something incorrectly to cause this short battery life?

You are still under warranty if your iPod is "new."  Take full advantage of it by either calling iPod tech support, Apple Care if you have it or take it in to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.

  • 6th generation iPod nano automatically turns off when I push het sleep/wake button or when screen turns black after a while. How can I solve this ?

My 6th generation iPod nano automatically turns off (=stops the music) when I push het sleep/wake button or when screen turns black for power saving mode. Does anyone know how to solve this ?
I have already tried resetting, connecting to PC/iTunes to check the software version, turning off/on, I don't have any inspiration anymore.
    Thanks for your suggestions!

    Hi VeerleD,
If your iPod touch unexpectedly powers off, you may want to use the steps in this article to troubleshoot -
iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting (The steps apply for the iPod touch) -
    Specifically -
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,
    Brett L

  • So is the 7th generation iPod Nano in fact a 6th generation iPod Nano with a software upgrade only ?

I went to buy a 7th Generation Nano from a local Apple store and when I gto home to set it up, I found out that it had the old software (i.e. small icons and only two clock faces). I took it back to the Apple store and they informed me that it was the latest model (i.e. 6th gen) and that I had to update the Software to make it a 7th gen model..... this all seems contrary to the following article on the 7th gen tear down....

Same thing with us.  We were told that no "new" stock was brought in to the store, just they lowered the price on the current xtg inventory, so buy it now as you don't need the nike kit.  Here's apple's own link showing gen 6 as current:
    http://support.apple.com/specs/#Nano
Seems like a good way to inject a few more sales as the "new version" at the keynote got our attention.  The gen is moot for us as it seems to be working for us so far as it held a charge overnight powered off.  We still are testing that it doesn't drain down too fast for our uses running.  If it works for what you want, does it really matter what you or someone else wants to call it?

If you want, need, and the item works for you - just buy it and enjoy it.

  • My new iPod nano does not get the battery life that is advertised

Help me my iPod nano does not get the battery life that is advertised

Which battery life are you referring to? Apple's website states the iPod Nano 6th Gen will get "up to 24 hours of music playback when fully charged". There are going to be a lot of things that can change that. Are you using the stopwatch or the count down timer a lot? Are you using the FM radio a lot? Any accessories that you are using with the iPod? These will all have an effect on your battery life.

  • My 6th generation iPod nano won

I'm unable to use the "shuffle" feature on my 6th generation iPod nano. Any thoughts?

When the shuffle feature is activated my iPod continues to play the same song over and over again. The shuttle feature worked last week and now I have this problem.
I've done nothing differently while charging or syncing the iPod.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Can I lock my 6th generation ipod nano whilst listening to it as it keeps switching off if i knock the sleep button

can I lock my 6th generation ipod nano whilst listening to it as it keeps switching off if i knock the sleep button?

Okay, I apologize, belay my last posting :/
This evening after a whole day of working fine (again), I had the same problem, but this time my idea couldn't fix it.  One point I'd like to make is to NOT listen to your ears when troubshooting your ipod.  When your ipod is turning off, try tuning into the radio.  Mine tells me that it isn't recognizing my earbuds and won't even turn on the radio.  I'm going to try to clean the connection out, but really?  This is freakin' new, Apple people!  Maybe its a way for the company to make you purchase new accessories for the ipod they replaced with the recall :/
