Upgrading to Snow Leopard, Lion, or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
You can purchase Snow Leopard by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will receive physical media - DVD - by mail.
Third-party sources for Snow Leopard are:

After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download.

How can I upgrade from OSX 10.7 to 10.9 on my 2012 mac mini? (2.3 GHz, 4 GB, 500 GB SATA disk) I don't want OSX Yosemite.

If your Mini shipped with OS X 10.7 Lion, then it was considered a 2011 build model, or before.
The Mini 2012 model, is considered a Late 2012, & the last one where RAM could be upgraded.
And it shipped with Mountain Lion 10.8, which is a fairly OK system if one had older software.
(However mine shipped in Dec 2014, with Mavericks 10.9.0, and was built in January 2014.)
There were a few different build versions of Late 2012 Mac Mini, the i5 or i7 processor,
in dual-core or quad-core, and some CTO or built-to-order versions with other specs.
You can buy Mountain Lion from online Apple Store, & use a download code emailed to you to
get the Mt. Lion 10.8 from Apple Servers; this would be about it, since Mavericks isn't available.
So hopefully that is an option you can exercise; in addition the computer may prefer more RAM.
    Good luck & happy computing!

how can i upgrade from osx 10.5.8 to 10.6.8 or later

Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu and check the processor.
If it's a PowerPC Mac, it's already running the newest OS it can.
If it's a Core Duo Mac, click here, install the DVD, and run Software Update.
If it's a Core 2 Duo or better Mac, follow the Core Duo instructions, open the Mac App Store, and try purchasing Mountain Lion. If you get told it's incompatible, phone the online Apple Store and order a download code for Lion.

Buy Snow Leopard from the online Apple Store - http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard - and update until you get to 10.6.8. Then, if you're computer is able to run Mountain Lion, you'll be able to purchase ML and install it via the App Store.

  • TA48312 How can i update my osx software from my emac from osx 10.3 to the highest available software for an emac?

How can i update my osx software from my emac from osx 10.3 to the highest available software for an emac?
I have osx 10.3.x and i want to update to the highest possible. Please help!!!!! i cant find the download. And i dont want to lose any data!!

Depending upon the specific model you have you can upgrade to either 10.4.x or 10.5.x. Neither are available from Apple any longer, so you will need to look to eBay or Amazon for copies. Be sure to only purchase retail copies and not gray labled machine-specific copies.
If your eMac came with 10.3 originally and has a clock speed of 1 GHz or higher, then you can install Leopard, 10.5.x.
If you don't want to lose data then make backups.

how can i upgrade my mac os x 10.5.8 to the latest version? i need to download i tunes desperatly!!!

You need a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD, an external optical drive such as Apple's SuperDrive, and the 10.6.8 combo updater. You don't need to buy Mac OS X 10.7 or 10.8.

  • How can I upgrade to OSX Lion when I am running OSX 10.5.8?

I am currently running OSX 10.5.8 on my MacBook and have no idea how to upgrade to OSX Lion as I do not have Snow Leopard. Can anyone help? Thanks!

You can order a Snow Leopard 10.6 install disk for $29 as long as you have at least 1gb of RAM and 5gb of free space on your hard drive. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY
Or you can wait until August when Apple will sell Lion on a USB Flash Drive for $69

  • How Can I Upgrade iBook OSX 10.0.4

My ibook's 10.0.4 operating system doesn't support most OSX capatible applications (Like quicktime 100 and must launch into the slower glitchy OS 9 operating system . Yet I can't seem to find a way to upgrade, since all OS upgrades seem to require 10.1. or higher WHICH I DO NOT AS YET HAVE. Can anyone suggest a solution?

Hi, Caverly. Welcome to Apple Discussions.
What size is your hard drive? How much space remains available on it?
If you want to upgrade, you are going to have to purchase the upgrade.
You will also need to upgrade your RAM (I recommend a 512 MB RAM module to do this) in order for a more recent version of OS X to run smoothly.

  • TA48312 How can I download Mac OSX 10.6 snow leopard

    Hi ,
I use to Mac OS X v10.5.8 but I want to update to my MacBook and I need to Mac OSX v10.6 snow leopard... ???

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Mac OS X Snow Leopard is not free. It can be purchased in a DVD at the Apple Online Store > http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Before upgrading, make a backup of your files onto an external drive with Time Machine. After upgrading, open  > Software Update to install Mac OS X 10.6.8, so you will be able to install iTunes 11.1.4.
If you want to upgrade to OS X Mavericks, see > http://www.apple.com/osx/how-to-upgrade

  • How can I upgrade from OSX 10.5.8 to OSX 10.9?

    HELP!!!!
I am using a macbook with OSX 10.5.8. I have not upgraded it ever since. But this time I am thinking of buying higher versions of the OSX because Skype and other internet applications are requiring this.  I know that from 10.5.8 there are already quite a few steps higher versions that I need to catch up. Unlike in Windows I guess it's easier to just to skip a few steps for as long as the hardware and software materials are provided. Now with Mac I am not sure I could do that. Can you please help me speed up this process and if possible at a minimal cost?

Note, future questions should be addressed to the non-Classic forums, as Mac OS X is not Classic:
    10.9: OS X Mavericks
    10.8: OS X Mountain Lion
    10.7: Mac OS X v10.7 Lion
    10.6: Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard

  • How can i upgrade from iphoto 7.1.5 to 8.1.2 on an older iMac running OSX 10.6.8 ?

How can I upgrade from iphoto 7.1.5 to 8.1.2 on an older iMac running OSX 10.6.8 ?

With the above listed config that I have (iphoto 7.1.5 on an older iMac running OSX 10.6.8), how can I move my iPhoto library from this old iMac (2006) to my NEW iMac (2011) that is running iPhoto 9.5.1 ?
To open an iPhoto 7.1.x version in iPhoto '11 you need to run the iPhoto Library Upgrader. See this Support document:
iPhoto '11: About the Library Upgrade
Download and install the upgrader,  then run it on your iPhoto 7.1.5 library. After that, iPhoto will be able to open your library and upgrade it to version 9.5.1. And you will be able to merge the libraries with if Library Manager.

First step is upgrade to Snow Leopard, 10.6, by calling Apple at 1-800-MY-APPLE and order the SL DVD for $20.  Then update on-line via software update to 10.6.8.  If you want to go further, to Lion, you can purchase a download code for $20 from that same number and download 10.7.5, or go directly to the Mac App Store and purchase/download 10.8.2 provided your computer is on the compatible hardware list at http://www.apple.com/osx/specs
