This type of behaviour can be caused by malware. Try running several malware scanners. It is best to run several as each will pick up things that the others miss. Some scanners you can try are:

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

Photoshop's licensing information might have lost when you restored it to new HD. Re-install Photoshop CS4 and enter the same serial key for PS CS4 which you used before.

I have a new macbook pro and just installed latest firefox. The problems is i can't seem to disable the tabs from appearing each time i restart firefox. I did uncheck every box in the peferences tab menu, still can't stop the tabs from appearing.

Are you saying that it restores your old tabs when you restart? Have you looked at ''Preferences > General'' to see if Firefox is set to restore your tabs from the last session? You should change it to ''When Firefox Starts: Show my home page''.
Or is your issue that you keep seeing the tab that says "welcome to firefox" when you start the browser? Each time I log out of Firefox when I come back my history is clear. I use my history quite a bit to return to sites and don't want to keep losing it. What do I have to do to stop this from happening?

I use gmail and a couple of days ago I started having trouble accessing it and in fact any google related site. Apparently my version of firefox was not supported so I updated to the current version this morning but then found that firefox would not open at all. There are no error messages. I have tried restoring my settings to those of yesterday but although my system says I have returned to the old version 3.5.15 it still will not open. I can now only access the internet by using an ancient version of Microsoft Internet Explorer - which is also not supported by gmail. Although I'm limping on I could really do with some help!!

How can I REMOVE the Yahoo! tab from the menu bar? Each time I open Firefox, I get the gialogue box asking if I want to make yahoo the default and each time I respond no and check the do not ask this question again.

How do I fix bug where toolbar items disappear every time I reopen Firefox?

All of a sudden, after using Firefox 4.0b6 for a few weeks, it would forget my toolbar settings, returning to its default set after closing and reopening the program.
All my custom buttons, as well as the Feedback button go missing. Also, the feedback button is not even available in the customization menu anymore.

Regarding your home page, what do you get instead of Google? This can provide a clue about what is changing your setting.
Toolbars typically are generated by an extension, which is a type of add-on you can disable or remove (usually) here:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category

I loaded the new version of firefox and now yahoo will not open up the email it only shows login and goes back to main sign in each time.

That problem can be caused by the Yahoo! Toolbar that extents too much downwards and covers the top part of the browser window and thus makes links in that part of the screen not clickable.

I did a dumb thing and clicked on "Start Private Browsing". Ever since then I have not been able to set my home page in Firefox. I have tried dozens of times and each time I close Firefox and re-open it - My homepage is BLANK.

Photoshop crashes each time i start it and it then does not respond and after 3 to 4 min sarts

Is this a new installation? Or how long has it been working OK before this problem?
Do you have any external drives?
What are your Photoshop Scratch disk arrangements?

Looking for a scratch disk that does not respond

I downloaded the newest versus of firefox and now it will not open. I've ctrl-alt-delete and under processes ended the process and it still doesn't open.

I think when uninstalling you may also have to choose (tick) to delete the preferences and other personal data like the bookmarks, stored passwords etc. to erase completely. If you are installing afresh, please try right-clicking on the file and '''Run as administrator''' to install. And when uninstalling, please also make sure choose to delete all data and also manually delete any '''Mozilla''', '''Mozilla Firefox''' or '''Firefox''' from %appdata%, %localappdata% and %programfiles%. You can open a location by typing for eg. %appdata% in the '''Run''' box (Windows key + R). You may also have to check the '''VirtualStore''' folder in %localappdata%. Files in the VirtualStore can be problematic. I think a clean installation may help.
