Tabs and address bar gone in fullscreen

I can't access my tabs or address bar in fullscreen on macbookpro. It only started doing this today

What happens if you hover the mouse to the top?
Does it has effect if you toggle the browser.fullscreen.autohide to false on the about:config page?
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar.
You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

• My tab and address bar fonts changed on their own.

I'm not really sure how this happened, but I opened Firefox and noticed that the font is different for the address bar, on all the tabs, and in any popup notifications. Is there any way I can fix this? I hate how this new font looks.

Safe mode disables the installed '''Extensions''', and themes ('''Appearance''') in '''Tools''' ('''Alt''' + '''T''') > '''Add-ons'''. Hardware acceleration is also temporarily disabled - the manual setting is '''Tools''' > '''Options''' > '''Advanced''' > '''General''' > '''Use hardware acceleration when available'''. All these settings/add-ons can also be individually or collectively disabled/enabled/changed in Firefox normal mode to check if an extension, theme or hardware acceleration is causing issues.

• Sometimes when I open a link in a new tab and then switch to the tab, the address bar clears and the website won't open.

Sometimes when I open a link in a new tab and then switch to the tab, the address bar clears and I'll have to re open the tab and hope that doesn't happen again. Sometimes this happens again and again. Most of the times if I just open the link in a new tab and don't switch to it, this won't happen. But as I switch too the tab, the text would disappear and the link wouldn't open.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

In Firefox 4 you can use one of these to start in [[Safe mode]]:

Use "Alt" to make sure the menu bar is visible, then View > Toolbars > ... -- make sure that the Navigation bar is checkmarked, if tabs on top is confusing uncheck that, if you want to see menus and title bar make sure menu bar is check-marked.

• How do I put my menu bar and address bar back at the top?

I closed my menu bar and address bar, etc. Now I can get them back I even tried reinstalling Firefox and that didn't work. Opposite clicking the top of the page doesn't work, either. HELP!
== This happened ==
Just once or twice
== When I temporarily turned off my bars.

Hit the '''Alt''' key to show the Menu bar, then open View > Toolbars and select Menu bar, so it has a check-mark.

• Resizing tab and side bar

how do you resize the tab and side bar? Downloaded Maverick and can't find where to resize even after looking in the preference. It is small.....

Could be corrupt plist. Try deleting both the com.apple.finder.plist and com.apple.sidebarlists.plist and relaunch Finder.
Finder>Go>Go to Folder> copy and paste:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
delete it.
Finder>Go>Go to Folder> copy and paste:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
delete it.
Now relaunch the Finder. The Finder icon is in the very left of the Dock, hold the control and option key click the icon>Relaunch

• Does anyone have any ideas how to fix the rendering problem on dialogue boxes, menu and address bars in the Beta?

I am getting bizarre zigzag lines, bolded items on the vertical part of letters on the Menu bar and Address bar, and any edge of a dialogue box or input frame gets the odd zigzag lines on both sides.

Your battery experience is unusual. While I don't use my phone a lot it is on 24/7. The mists I've seen my battery run down is to abut 45% after 10 hours offi the charger.
Here's how to reset (reboot) your phone. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart.
If that is what you did I suggest making an appointment at and Apple store for a consultation.

• First tab will not close and address bar in tab does not update.

The first tab and its address bar are not working as expected. I am unable to close the first tab using the close icon on the tab or by selecting close tab from right click menu.
I also find that the address bar when displaying the first tab does not display the current web address, only text that has been previously written into the address bar field.

While trying to figure out a solution, I removed my themes and I closed the tabs I could, then clicked on the new tab button, doing so changed my original tab into an (Untitled) tab and created a new (Untitled) tab. I then found I couldn't close either tab, I clicked on new tab again, got a third (Untitled) tab, which again I couldn't close. I then closed Firefox choosing not to save. This appears to have fixed the problem; however I do not know which of the above action(s) resolved it.

• Tabs fail and address bar is glitched

Hi, I just downloaded safari 3 now, and when I try to open new tabs, it shows a loading symbol on the side (where the tabs is supposed to open up) but then it just disappears. In addition to that there seems to be a problem with the address bar; when a new page is loading the address is partially in bold font. That isn't really a problem but I think it's related to the tab issue.

Hi. If your OS is up to date via Software Update you shouldn't have had to download Safari 3. It is included in 10.4.11.
I suggest you go to http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx10411comboupdateppc.html
and download/install the Combo update.
But first you need to check that there is no errors on your start-up disk that caused your Safari problems. Insert your Tiger install disk in the drive and restart. As soon as you hear the start-up chime press and hold the 'C' key. When the installer has finished loading select your Language then Next/Continue. On the next page look at the top left of the menu bar and select Utilities/Disk Utility. Choose your startup volume (the second one down) from the left hand pane and select Repair Disk. If D.U. reports that the volume appears to be OK quit DU, quit Installer and restart normally and log in. Eject the Disk.
If D.U. reports that repairs were made re-run repair until you get the message that the volume appears to be OK. Then quit D.U., quit installer and restart normally and log in. Eject the Disk.
Then go to /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility, select your start-up volume (the second one down) from the left hand pane and choose Repair Permissions. Once that has finished quit D.U.
Then back up at least your important files, or preferably create a clone of your system on an external drive if you have one. Then go to the above link, download it and install. It is a large file, will take a while to download, and takes a long time to install with a long double restart. Do Not interrupt the process once it has begun.
Good luck and post back with how things go or if you have any queries that you want to clear up before you embark upon the above.
Adrian

• PDF viewer removes text from tabs and search bars

Often when I open documents in the built-in PDF viewer Firefox freezes for a few seconds and then when it returns to life all the text not associated with a particular webpage is gone. The tabs for the Firefox windows have no text. The search bar has no text. The address bar has no text. The bookmarks bar has no text. If I right click I get a menu with no text. If Firefox opens any windows (such as below when I click "Automatically add") those windows have no text. I have a screenshot of this phenomenon but don't see any way of attaching it. Restarting Firefox only occasionally resolves the issue.
This was happening while I filled out this form and collected the troubleshooting information below (by guessing which textless window buttons did what.)

Here is a picture!

• How do I move the Home button between Back Forward and address bar?

The way I have my firefox set up for years is to put the buttons like this:
[Back][Forward][Stop/Reload][Home][Progress Animation][Address Bar]
Now in FF29 I'm trying to move the Home button between the BackForward buttons and the address bar and it won't let me.
I thought FF29 was supposed to be the most customizable Firefox yet? *confused*
Is there a way to do this, am I missing something? Thanks

''' "I thought FF29 was supposed to be the most customizable Firefox yet?" '''
Whoever told you that was incorrect, as far as I am concerned. Firefox still is more customizable that the "competition", but not as much as previous versions were.
The Home button can be moved, but the Back / Forward combo button is attached to the Address Bar - they can't be separated.
The combo Stop / Reload button is locked in the Address Bar.
The old "Activity Indicator" is gone. Deemed unnecessary with the loading animation on the left corner of each tab, where the Favicon appears once the page is fully loaded.

Many users are installing the Classic Theme Restorer extension.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/
But I don't think that is going to turn out to be along term solution. As users start installing other extensions I think they are going to run into compatibility issues where the new extension "expects" the user to be using what Firefox came with - not the "retro" features.

• Search and Address bar not working.

Hello, I have this problem were whenever I try to type in something into the search or addresys bars, nothing happens. It's like the enter key isn't working. There is not usual picture next to the search bar (the one that shows you what search engine you're using. If it's google it shows a "g" next to the bar). Instead there is just a picture of a blank page as a placeholder. When I try to go in and add a new search engine by managing the search engine list, there is no option to add a new search engine. I have already tried going into the firefox folder on my computer and deleted the formhistory.sqlite file that is the supposed problem. No avail. I have even gone so far to delete and reinstall firefox to my computer. Well, that didn't work either. So I waited until the next update to see if my problem would be fixed THEN. I am currently on firefox 19.0, which is, as of writing, the most current version. I have tried restarting firefox with all addons removed. And for good measure, I deleted anything that ended with ".sqlite" in my firefox folder. I have tried to get the the about:config menu but do not know how considering how my address bar refuses to search. The greatest thing is that my address bar can still remember all the sites I've typed into it before, but for some unknown reason, cannot take me to any of them! I really don't know what to do next. I can only suppose that I could try completely deleting everything firefox has stored on my computer, as I don't know if just uninstalling the program actually did that. Other then my search bar problem, firefox has been acting fairly normally besides a few minor hiccups here and there. I am trying to remember if I downloaded anything before my search bar problems started or not, but it is always a possibility. I did download the firefox beta for windows 8 metro mode but I can't remember if that was before or after firefox started acting up. It's possible considering that softonic thought they were being really nice by including fbdownloader for free with my firefox metro browser. I am now no longer using softonic ever again. But that's all the evidence I can think up right off the tip of my head. Sorry if this was kinda long, and if any of my description isn't clear or make sense please ask and I can try to verify. Also, if I haven't said this already, my search bar is only not working in firefox. Chrome, Internet Explorer, and Safari are all working fine. Just my luck, I guess. If anyone could help me out, I'd be much obliged. Not being able to use the address bar has been really inefficient. Thank you.

This is the solution I got:
on:
;-please follow these steps:
1. Enter about:config in the Firefox location bar and press Enter.
You should see a warning that making changes to the Firefox configuration can be potentially harmful to Firefox's integrity. Click the I'll be careful, I promise button to continue.
2 In the Search box at the top, enter keyword as the search term. You should see a few remaining items, one of these is keyword.URL. It should be bold.
3 Right-click on the keyword.URL setting and select MODIFY from the dropdown menu.
enter your favorite search engine
In my case
I entered
https://www.google.com/search?q=
And that was a super fix

• How do I get a larger font in the Tabs and Adress bar?

I have poor eyesight and when I open Firefox the Tabs Bar and the address bars is to small for me to read. I have to use a magnifying Glass to read them and than up close.

You can set font sizes (zoom) and text colors with the NoSquint extension.

How can I get my address bar back

It sounds like you might be in full screen mode. Hit F11 and see if that resolves the issue.
If that isn't it, right click next to the tab bar and make sure that "Navigation Toolbar" is checked

• "customize address bar" gone from View

The customize address bar selection under view is completely gone. I have removed com.apple.safari.plist and restarted the computer with no luck. Any ideas how I get it back. I have downloaded the latest updates if that makes any difference. Thanks, Lee Anne

Hi Lee Anne
Which version of Safari are you using (Safari Menu>About Safari). If it is 2.0.4 (419.3), you can install a fresh copy of the application following these directions:
Thanks to Andy Ball in this forum, a simple method now exists for reinstalling Safari.
First, go back to your regular user account. Open Safari and go to this site to obtain a zip file of Safari. On this site page, select "free", then on the following page you'll need to wait about 30 seconds for the target site options to appear. Select one of them, fill in the "alpha/numeric prompt", and the file will download.
Once the download is completed, quit Safari. After the new Safari folder is mounted on your HD, go to the Finder and move the Safari.app to your Applications folder, selecting "replace" to overwrite the existing Safari folder.
Go to the Utilities folder>Disk Utility and "repair permissions".
Restart Safari.
