Takes and comping live drums- trouble cutting and pasting comps- help

Senario, 10 tracks of drum mikes recorded in 8 takes. Swiping with groups on works like a charm. Issue, I want to be able to locate a 4 bar section in a comp and cut and paste it back to back and in every verse. It seems to work but when I go and start swiping takes to add to the comp, the comp pastes of the 4 bar piece starts playing something different than what was pasted there moments earlier. I then have to undo a few steps and cannot figure out what to do now.... Any tips, suggestions or work flows anyone can share with me regarding drum tracking. I have never tried to cut and paste within a comp and I want to believe that it should work just like editing regions. And then you can flatten ? Thanks

You hate takes, ok I don't really yet, but how do you put takes into folders without flattening first. So a folder opened up into an arrange window has folders named DRUMS TK1, DRUMS TK2, etc. But then you select all those takes and pack into yet another folder called DRUMS, Hmm. Copies of the folders you want to use, how do you determine what you want to use. I use the swipe feature and it shows me the sections from each take and I can hear what it all sounds like before flattening. Is your method a mix of old LP7 style drum take editing with packed folders ? If you are cutting the copied packed folders to taste, are you using the mute tool to shut off sections to audition each take ? Flattening using the glue tool, I am getting lost now sorry. I like the swiping feature especially when you have 13 drum tracks times 8 takes. I make a group called drums and when I swipe the Kick track let's say, all drum mikes get selected in the exact place and I can then audition each take by clicking on each kick take, then I move on after I choose a section. My problem arrived when I started to scissor cut the COMP folder before doing any flattening. It would appear to be editable just like a normal audio region and I wanted to just cut copy and paste the COMP folder while continuing to swipe and finish the COMP. Do you follow. I want to understand your method as well since I am still trying to get a system down for drum tracking with many mikes and takes. Thanks for your reply.

Cut and paste, merge,HELP!!!!

Forgive me, I am a newbie. I just purchased Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 in order to restore old family photos and old family documents that have been torn. I have scanned the docs. and saved them as tiffs, but I cant seem to be able to do a simple merge of a document that has been torn in half. Any help would be great. Thanks

After you have joined the 2 halves using Ward's method there might still be a few tiny gaps along the transition of the join, or the transition might appear too sharp. You can fix these by using the Clone tool to replace the gap/transition with adjacent portions. Make sure the Use All Layers box is checked. The Blur and Smudge tools can also help clean up these areas.
If the tear is along an area that is not too complex, here is the "nudge" method I read somewhere:

Tightly select, but not quite touch, the tear. The Polygonal Lasso works well for this. Feather the selection a few pixels.

Mozilla Firefox is not allowing me to Copy and Paste, please help how to fix this problem

i seem to have a problem with Mozilla Firefox, that when i tried copying a word or a sentence and then going to a different site, i Cannot Paste. and with Internet Explorer i able to do that. i would hate to stop using firefox cause of this but, it's really hurting me from browsing and moving forth in a fast paced , please help me how to fix it

5.1 copy and paste

Updated to 5.1 and have lost the ablility to copy and paste. Help! This makes my iPad just about usless for me!

It is basically the same as a reboot which you say you already tried and presumably did by holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then released. When the screen goes blank power On again in the normal way. It is absolutely/appsolutely safe!

Trouble cutting and pasting in Illustrator CS6

I have several eps files that I cannot select in order to copy and paste - I get a pencil with a circle/line through. I believe the file was created in CS5, so it should select. I have been able to copy other files from this source, but not the latest three files I've received.
Any ideas?

I spoke to the original artist and the reason I was having trouble is that the image by intention can’t be copied and pasted, but it CAN be placed (you were right – it is locked, but I can’t unlock it) – so I no longer have a problem. As usual it was my own limited education in the software. If anyone else has this problem, the resolution is to be in the document where you want to place the image, and access “place” from the file menu.

Trouble cutting and pasting all of a sudden.

Just in the last hour my computer has stopped being able to cut and paste. I have changed no settings. I can cut, and the text will disappear, but cannot paste. Also, it shows no 'reaction' when I do a command-c (copy), as it normally would.
Another interesting development, at the same time this started, various applications began quiting by themselves. Anytime I close a window on AOL IM for example, the application quits.
Is this a virus, or did I mess something up?

Noticed some more:
I cannot drag files in the finder, or in between apps.
Files on the desktop appear fuzzy, or 'old'. A Word file has big blocky lettering on it that looks out of focus.

Run permission repair from your HD.

Why am I having trouble cutting and pasting shape animation keyframes?

Thank you for taking a look at my little problem...
I am creating a shape animation - a simple box that "dances". I create eight keyframes with control point changes. After the eighth keyframe I want to begin with the first again, by cutting an pasting the keyframes I've already created. When I try to paste one or more keyframes after the eighth keyframe, the pasted keyframe(s) produce unintended results. Point one seems to reset to 0,0 - and the others do not reflect the pasted keyframe either.
Is there something I am missing about cutting and pasting keyframes in the shape animation parameter?

Thanks Zoom - This will probably be the solution for me. Unfortunately there is some underlying problem going on. I can't get the "repeat" option by clicking and holding on the keyframe, but I can get it in the right column of the keyframe editor. But when I select repeat it doesn't change anything. I even selected "generate keyframes" - nothing. However, the program did slow down as though I had done something, and the "undo repeat" option was available in the edit menu. So the program thinks it did something. I'll keep poking around...

I'm being driven mental by logic express which will not always allow me to copy and paste selections from the matrix editor. the playhead ends up at the very last bar and the original selection has become inordinately loud. I'm certain there is a logical solution.

maybe you have copy paste on the same region, check if you have
two notes one upon the other, on the region that plays loud,
try to del one and see if it's another under, probably with another velocity,
choose velocity tool and bring it down to your content and del the duplicates.

Work-around for lack of cut and paste for files in finder

I am new to Mac and have observed some past but closed discussions about the annoying lack of cut and paste in Finder. I too find it very time-consuming to move a file into the folder where I want it to live - especially from downloads. Using a MacBook Pro 13", my open windows are naturally on top of each other and using drag and drop with a touch-pad for file organisation is very cumbersome. Four finger behaviour on touch pad only helps so far.
The approach I adopt is to use cmd c to copy the files or folders in question. cmd ` to flick between finder windows (usually more than one is open) and cmd v to place the files or folders where I want them after navigating through to the destination folder. Shift cmd N gives me a new folder if required. cmd ` takes me back to source folder (usually downloads) so I can cmd delete the files and keep things tidy. This is lengthy to write down. It is however reasonably quick if your fingers know the keyboard shortcuts.
Is there a more efficient way for me to work around this inhibitory feature of Finder? "Save as" is only good if you know you have a folder in your file structure already created and named and suitable to receive the file you want to file away (usually an attachment to an email).

This is the Mac OS default Save As... dialog:
Notice that there is a downward pointing disclosure triangle to the right of the Save As: field. If you click on the disclosure triangle, a full Finder window will be exposed, and this will enable you to place downloaded files wherever you like.
Notice, also, that in the bottom left hand corner of the exposed finder window, you are able to create a new folder (in any location on your system) to which you are able to download files.
This works the same way in any Save As situation, using any app, and the app you are in will remember where you last chose to save a file so that repetitive navigation in these dialog boxes is somewhat reduced.

How to Cut and Paste a file on Mac

Nice to meet you here. I am a new Mac Book Pro 13" Retina Display user with OS X Yosemite. I just switched to Mac from Windows last week.
So far I have a great experience using Mac. However one thing is troubling me. How do I cut and paste a file? I've tried command+x and command+v but it doesnt work. I can copy and paste though by using command+c and command+v.

Yup, if you need to do that physically you walk over to the filing cabinet, get the file out, cut it to pieces, take the pieces to the new location, glue them back together, and put the recreated file in the new filing cabinet.

Quick way to format text cut and pasted from a web browser into Pages?

I work a lot by cutting and pasting text from web browsers into my word processor.
When I was using Word, I had built a very useful macro that allowed me to re-format the font, font size, colour, line spacing etc, as well as to remove hyperlinks, all by pressing one keyboard shortcut.
Is this possible in Pages? I've tried Paste and Match Style, and Paste Paragraph Style, but they only seem to solve half the problems.
Surely this must be a common problem? I've had a look in the discussion forums, but can't find anything...

I'm not having any trouble deleting links. Click on View > Show Invisibles. If there's a space following the link, put your cursor to the right side of the space, click, then drag to the left so that you highlight the link. Then just hit delete.
Or, if you want to have a web or email address in your copy without it being a live link, highlight it, then click on the Link inspector > Hyperlink button > and UNcheck +Enable As Hyperlink+.

I want to cut and paste on my web page but the functions are not available and grayed out. I modified the user_pref as directed substituting the web page url for modzilla.org (actually cut and pasted exactly using notepad with no success. The modifications are saved in the file. which is have provided.

Hello. In 2012 you answered a query about the following problem:
"I have had my MacBook Pro for over three years now, without much trouble, but recently I've been unable to send images that I have cut and pasted into Apple mail. I can attach an image that I have saved in my photos and it will send but I can not send an image that I have cut and pasted from the internet."
This problem started with me this morning and it does not happen when I open a test account. The thread stops after you asked if it occurs in the test account, did you ever find a solution to this issue? I am using mac mail 3.6 on system 10.5.8.
