Taking time data from external system(KRONOS) into SAP

Dear Friends,
I have to intergrate my time managemnt to time recording machine(KRONOS) am not aware about that it's sap certified or not .How we can access the data from that machine and insert in sap tables that means we have to communicate sap to non sap system.I don't have to use the BDC because i have to update our table according to machine shall i go for IDOC and EDI.In that case which IDOC or EDI i have to use .I have to create the INBOUND interface for that .Kindly help me am stuck

Hi Sandeep,
You require a abap guy along with a basis person. Below steps are required.
Step 1: The third party ll specify the file format in which they are going to send the data.
Step 2. You need to check with the basis or a third tool to upload the file into SAP application directory tcode al11.
step 3: Then the ABAP guy will write a interface program using this BAPIs to upload the data in to catsdb.
Step 4. Then functional testing and bug fixing and finially sheduling the inteface job in Production.

Extraction of InfoCube data from BW system to non SAP system

Hello All,
Is the extraction of InfoCube data from BW system to non SAP system availbale only for BW 3.5 release ? If yes, how can we extract the InfoCube data to a non SAP system with SAP BW 3.1 ?

Yes I know that open hub service is the appropriate technique to extract data from the infocube.
But if we look at SAP Netweaver documentation : Prior to SAP NetWeaver '04(since the SAP BW release I am working is 3.1); We find that we have the option to extract to a DB table or flat file.
Now if we look at SAP Netweaver documentation : SAP NetWeaver '04; In addition to the above we have the option to extract to a non SAP system.
My requirment is to extract data from InfoCube to a non SAP system. The SAP BW release I am using is 3.1

Hi Kumar,
In addition to what Thierry mentioned you could also use the C4C integration via standard Operational Data Provisioning (ODP) interfaces. This integration was acutally built for SAP BW and allows you to access any C4C data sources. From my perspective you can also build upon that for a native SAP HANA integration. Please also have a look at this guide: How To... load SAP Business Suite data into SAP... | SAP HANA.
Besides that question let me also add the following: SAP Cloud for Customer already runs on SAP HANA since Nov. 2013. You may also use the powerful built-in analytics within C4C for analyzing data and any of your reporting demands. If your report should consider external data as well, you can combined the existing C4C data source with an external, so-called Cloud Data Source. We can either use the BDC or BAPI or LSMW or Direct Input techiniques for the data transfers.
The combination of both Session and Call transaction can be used to achieve this that includes the error handling also. This invloves the screen interaction.
These days, BAPIs are used to overvome some upgrade problems. For easy upgradation, we cna go for BAPIs. Here ther is no screen intercation.
LSMW mainly used for master data transfers using some standrad programs.
As per your client or company desicions we can choose any of them.

I am not sure of the usage of the RFC's in this context.
If you want to read a file from the application server, use the OPEN DATASET, READ and CLOSE DATASET commands.

You can upload the entire file into a internal table which a a field of string data type and after that loop at the table and process the data according to your logic (Either length delimited, ',' delimited.
Ig you want to do this remotely, you can put all this logic in the function module and make it remote enabled.

Getting campaign data from external system to display campaigns/offers

I have to find a solution for a campaign requirement for my company.
The user centric campaigns are managed by a external system provider who process billing statements (eg if you see your paper credit card statement, you see special offers, campaigns in your paper statement.)
On similar lines we have to show/build the campaign in our WLP application. The campaign data is hosted in external systems.
We have to think of a generic reciever in WLP which can get the external campaign data and based upon that it can display right campaign to logged in users.
Any ideas, leads. Has somebody implememted such a feature.

OK, I see now. You don't want a pluggable user profile data source, you want a pluggable campaign rule and pluggable campaign content. I don't think there is such a thing as a framework for plugging an external campaign into Oracle WebLogic Portal.
I don't think you can plug an external campaign rule into the Oracle WebLogic Portal rules engine but you can make Oracle WebLogic Portal see external user profile data and external content. So, 2 of the 3 ingredients for the campaign are easy enough to make available to the portal. I would guess that you either need to transform the campaign definition into the proper XML document for consumption by the portal's rules engine or you need to evaluate the campaign on the external system and have the results available to the portal via a mechanism like UUP.

Loading data from external system

Im really having a hard time trying to load data with a DM package... im using BPC 75 MS SP04, im trying to obtain data from a SAP ERP system... once obtaining it, I have 2 options:
- Create a conversion file in order to "unify" the master data from ERP to mine. Since i still dont understand how this works, i think that will imply writing a file with over 500 rows of data (one for every converted member)... this is
ACCOUNTS:
SAP - BPC
CUENTA10 - 4040
CUENTA11 - 4041
..... and so on....
- Or get that info converted to my syntax (ready for BPC), and place it directly in the DB (sql server 2005)
In either case, how can I do this?

How to read the data from a PDF document into SAP

Hi Everyone,
I am trying to read a PDF document from my desktop and get the data into SAP but i am not getting successful.
I am using the method cl_gui_frontend_services=>gui_upload and passing the filename and type and importing the file length and the data into an internal table.
I tried the file type as ASC but i couldn't get any records in the internal table and the filelength is displayed as 0.
When i tried the file type as BIN, it is giving the short dump. I guess that is because the file i am trying to read is not with the extension BIN.
Please Advice me on this

Passing message text from external RFC server into SAP EXCEPTION parameter

In function module CREDIT_CARD_SETTLEMENT the following DYNAMIC function module call exists:

This is the code which calls an external credit card application server. I'm trying to figure out how, on the server side, I can return a message into the rfc_msg_text variable on the system_failure or communication_failure EXCEPTIONS.
Ive found several examples of this construct in ABAP code in the SAP side but I cant for the life of me find anything that shows how to set this up in our external server.
There are several SAP function modules like RFC_PING that have similar constructs but I cant see the compiled C code to tell what command to use to fill in that text. I can raise the exception, just not fill in the text.
Any ideas?

I do not quite understand the problem.
Is there an external NON-SAP system, that needs to do the call?
Within any external SAP system (inside the RFC Function Module) you can raise exceptions in the following manner:
MESSAGE e398(00) WITH par1 par2 par3 par4 RAISING exception_1.
Message 398 in class 00 contains only & & & & as text.
Each & is replaced by par1 through par4.
Suppose par1='Order' par2='1234' par3='invalid' par4=''.
Then a message would be build like: Order 1234 invalid.
This all would reside in the remote called function module.
When you call this module and after any exception in the call the addition MESSAGE rfc_msg_txt was put, then the variable rfc_msg_txt='Order 1234 invalid'.
But as already stated before, i'm not quite sure what the problem is. Shed some light to it.

Hi Sam,
Some information about DB Connect.
DB Connect allows you to have extra database connections besides the default connection for SAP.
You use these connections to access databases and transfer data into a BI system.
In general, BI application servers can only be supported for DB Connect on operating system versions where a SAP Database Shared Library (DBSL) has been released for the BI database and the source database.

Missing Data from Legacy System

Hello All,
My client went live end of January this year. They had a month of transaction data in their legacy system which they did not bring into SAP. Since this is their first year on SAP and recently implemented Extended Withhold Tax one month data is missing; when they run the 1099s at the end of the year they are going to be reported incorrectly.
How can we bring over that missing data from legacy system over to SAP without having to clear those invoices in SAP?
