Tape camera videos not showing up in events!?

Hey all.
I've imported videos from a tape-recording Canon HD CMOS VIXIA HV30. They are saved on the Mac as events, but there is nothing in the iMovie workshop! I've tried dragging over the files from their saved location on the Mac, but they refuse to be added.
Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

• Using USB-Cable and droping it into the Mac Hard disk - like moving a document
from one hard disk to another ?
• Using a FireWire-Cable and in iMovie use the Capture function ?
• Other way - Please describe

Issue with recent "iPhoto Videos" not showing up in "Event Manager"

It has been awhile since I used iMovie '11 on my MacBook Pro with Retina Display. I believe the last time I used it was in September or October of last year (2012) as most of my editing I have been doing on the iMovie iOS app as it has been sufficient for the majority of my needs. I was running low on storage on my iPhone this past weekend and so transferred off all my videos to iPhoto.
I had need to edit some of the clips I transferred off and imported in iPhoto yesterday and so went to iMovie on the Mac to do so. It had to process the new files and then it upgraded the thumbnails to high resolution images and it was then I noticed that it did not recognize any movies after September of 2012 in the "iPhoto Videos" section of the "Event Manager." I was able to go into iPhoto and locate the more current videos to insure they were there and that they worked (I was worried at first they did not transfer off and just deleted or were corrupt in some manner). I have tried restarting iMovie, rebooting the Mac, etc. and nothing seems to work. Oddly enough, I can manually import the iPhoto files and iMovie finds them that way and they do work when manually imported. For whatever reason they just do not appear in the "iPhoto Videos" section of the "Event Manager." I am hoping someone here has an idea on why the Mac seemingly decided to stop recognizing videos after a certain date (September 2012 as is the case here) and how I can go about resolving the issue.

I had this problem and this fixed it. The problem started for me right after I upgraded iPhoto 9.4.1 to 9.4.2. I had to quit both apps, remove the plist file, launch iPhoto, then quit iPhoto, then launch iMovie... then iMovie asked about thumnails for videos and the iPhoto videos were back in iMovie.

navigate the dirs on the phone and copy out the videos to where on your computer

ICal is not showing some past events since I upgraded to Lion.

iCal is not showing some past events since I upgraded to Lion. I can find the past events in mail but if I click and open them, they are not showing up on the calendar. Advice? I am trying to recreate my schedule from past meetings.

Have managed to fix this already. Been working the issue for a few days now, and a few minutes after writing the above post I decided to reset the Time Capsule to factory default settings.
After entering all my details again (used same network names, passwords etc) the Time Capsule was rebooted. When it came back on line - guess what? Yep, the MyBook WD drive is now visibile. I can connect via the network from my other machines to the drive, and iTunes is back.
So - thought I would post my resolution in case it helps others.

Import iPhoto Flip video - not showing.

Running iMovie 09. iPhoto '11 (9.1.5). Imported video from Flip into iPhoto. Video not showing in iMovie. Is this a format issue? Is there a workaround?

Make sure that if the Flip came with a disk or software to be installed, that you run the installer. I've got a first gen. Flip mino that requires something called a 'codec' to be installed before the video clips can playback. In my case it's a piece of software from a company called 3ivx.

Camera will not show for import in managed account

In my administrator and one managed account, when I connect my kodak digital camera it displays for import. In another managed account despite enabling access to image capture, selecting iphoto for import in image capture and fixing permissions, neither image capture or iphoto show the kodak camera for import. I also tried removing the preference files from that user's library for iphoto and image capture. Help!

Thanks for the post.
The camera may not show an image on the LCD screen if the camera is not set for live view shooting. However, it will always display the menu on the screen if you press the MENU button. If it does not, then the camera will need to be serviced. To start this process, you'll need to complete a Repair Request on our website.

I have the a similar problem - only I can't actually get the calendar to show up. I've added the account and it's showing Mail and Notes but not Calendar. But I'd like it to show the outlook calendar.

Go to settings > mail contacts calendar
select your account that's affected
But under that account there isn't a calendar showing and I can't see any options to add it?

Press the home button twice like you do for the multitasking bar and it should show on the right.

Events not showing up in Event Library

I have been working on importing a bunch of video from my DV camera and all has gone well up to this point. The next time I opened iMovie my events did not show up in the event library. When I look on the Finder I still see the clips in the iMovie event folder, but they are not in my event library. All I see in my event library is my iPhoto video and an option to open the Last Import (although nothing is there). Even when I import new video now, I can still find it in the finder, but not in the iMovie event library.

Talked to Apple support- we figured it out. In case anyone has the same problem: one of my events in the iMovie events folder was corrupted, once I deleted that file, all was well.

Calendar on iPad (OS7.0.4) does not show home calendar events

I can create an event on my ipad, but it does not show up on the calendar. It does show up in icloud and iphone, but not on the ipad. Likewise I can create events on my iphone and icloud. Those events show up on the iphone and icloud, but not the ipad. I checked teh settings and the Home calendar is shown as default.

Is the "Home" calendar displayed on the device (Calendar app > Calendars [lower center] > [tap the the Home Calendar if it is not checked]

ICloud videos not showing on iPad

On my iPad, I can't see all of the TV shows in my cloud (app:Videos). It looks like I can only see the ones that were downloaded on a devise, not the ones downloaded via iTunes on my PC. I've checked the iPad's settings under iTunes & App Store for Show All Videos, and iTunes Match and they are green. I've also checked under Videos and Show All Videos is green there too. The kicker: my iPhone is showing all of my clouded TV Shows... Is there a setting I'm missing on my iPad?

Doesn't sound like you missed anything. Assuming your iPad is signed into the Apple ID used to purchase the TV shows they should appear as iTunes in the Cloud videos on your iPad. You might try toggling Off, then back On under Show All in Settings>iTunes & App Store to see if that would do any good. You also could try force closing the videos app (double-tap the home button, locate Videos in the list, swipe up on the image above the app icon to close it, tap the home button again).

Photos/Videos not showing up in iTunes

Just got a 30 GB video iPod. The iPod shows up in iTunes and I was able to download a video from the store and transfer/play it from my iPod. I also was able to bring some photos in and they are there as well. The photos, however, do not show up in iTunes even though in the lower right corner it says "7 photos". Is this correct? If so, how does one delete photos from the iPod?
Also, I had a small video clip that I compressed in QT Pro to MPEG4 and dragged it into iTunes. It shows the + sign but never makes it into iTunes or the iPod for that matter.
Any thoughts?

Thank you Btabz. Is there anyway out of purchasing iphoto4? Can't I just use my folders? If I had a pc, i don't think I would need a specific program like iphoto4. do you know of any other applications/ ways to transfer photos that might help?
Yes, I thought that iTunes would just sync with the folder. I had about 1300 pictures, and for some reason or another I had renamed about 20 of them, and they're the only ones that transfered to my ipod. By "renamed," I mean that I changed the Digital Camera's label of something such as "Fxl0004_21" to "Sunset picture."
I know that sounds strange, but that's what happened. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Most recently uploaded iphoto videos not showing up in imovie

when i try to use iphoto videos in my imovie project, the most recently uploaded videos do not show up.
this has happened to me before, and i got around the issue by importing the original video files (through finder) into imovie. the clips that weren't showing up eventually did show up, long after i needed them.
so, here i am again, trying to edit recently uploaded clips that aren't showing up. i tried closing iphoto and imovie, then opening them again. no luck. has anyone else had this probleml? why won't the most recently uploaded videos show up for days after they've been uploaded? i could import the files through finder, like i have in the past, but that takes up extra hard drive space, and takes way too long. i was under the impression that the ilife apps are supposed to just work with each other... intuitively and such
everything is up to date. here's my specs:
MacBook Pro - 13-inch, mid 2010
OS X 10.8.2 (12C60)
iPhoto '11 - version 9.4.2 (710.42)
iMovie '11 - version 9.0.8 (1778)

Usually any videos in iPhoto appear in iMovie '09 in the item "iPhoto Videos" at the top of the listing in the iMovie Events browser. Clicking on this item (heading) reveals the video thumbnails to the right of the Events listing. However, I've noticed that my old 3gp videos from an earlier mobile phone don't show up in the Events, whereas some other formats do (for example, avi).
MPEG Streamclip will convert 3gp files to a suitable format for import to iMovie. I'm not sure if it will handle 3g2. In MPEG Streamclip, navigate to your movie and open it, or simply drag it into the workspace. Now export it as a QuickTime movie (.mov) in the format AIC (Apple Intermediate Codec) or H.264. The default settings for these formats should be OK. Both these formats work well with iMovie. I just tested a 3gp movie, exported from MPEG Streamclip as AIC - this worked perfectly with iMovie.
To import in iMovie go to File>Import - Movies, then navigate to your movie.

PS After posting this, I realised that you can also export as AIC or H.264 from QuickTime 7.6.6 (although I do have the pro version - not sure if you need that). In QT go to File>Export and select Movie to QuickTime Movie then choose Options and select the format.

Purchased videos or videos that you shot with a camera?
If they are purchased from iTunes, are you using the same ID on the iPad that you bought the movies with?
Do you have content restricted in Settings>General>Restrictions>allowed content>Movies? That could prevent movies from syncing.
Are they in the correct format? Launch iTunes, select one of the videos and go to Advanced>Create iPad or Apple TV version.
You do not have Manually Manage Music and Videos selected in the summary tab of iTunes?
