Tarantella seamless windows problem

Hi there,
I am trying to set up seamless windows, everything is set as it should be yet it still fails to work...
windows 2003 terminal server
Sun Secure Global Desktop Enhancement Module is installed on the server
The Windows application object is configured for RDP and to use a seamless window
client version 4.20.909
When i open an application instead of opening in a seamless window it opens up in an independant window.
any thought???
thanks.

Hi,
I have nearly the same problem but in my configuration the seamless windows are working on the SSGD Server (Fedora Core 4) itself and on the Windows 2003 Application Server. If I try to use the semaless windows on my Win XP Client (either with Internet Explorer or with Firefox) it doesn't work - and I have no idea what the problem can be.
It worked once as I installed the Sun Secure Global Desktop Enhancement Module on the Windows 2003 Application Server and then tried to start a application which uses seamless windows but the next time I started an application there was no seamless window. I also tried to uninstall the Enhancement Module and reinstall it, but that doesn't help.
Maybe someone can help me!
Thanks in advance!
best regards

  • Seamless Windows and Dual Monitor Display

Seamless windows open spanning both display monitors regardless of the settings I use to prevent it. It's like the SGD thinks both monitors are one big display and doesn't open things in just the default monitor. An application that opens maximized will cover both monitors!
Has anyone else had this problem and found a workaround? We are using Windows XP client (Dell laptop), IE6, 2 display monitors (NVidia graphics card), and the application server is Windows 2003, SGD is 4.2.

It is an individual application we are publishing in the seamless window, but that one application launches many applications from there -- it is basically a toolbar for launching a whole host of other applications.

  • Seamless window application, start from xterm ?

    Hi,
i setup SGD and a w2k3-server to suppor seamless application - works
nice by testing a notepad.exe application.
Beacause of some business needs, i have to start the seamless application
from our own x11 application. Therefore, i wrote a small bash script which
i can start manuelly from an seamless xterm running on the SGD server:
/opt/tarantella/bin/bin/ttatsc -nofork -user username -password secret -swm \
    -application "c:\\windows\\notepad.exe" 192.168.126.139
the notepad will be opened, but
    a) the update of the framebuffer will not work correctly.I must move the mouse over the menu of
the notepad application the see the menue, ...
    b) i can not see an icon on my client windows desktop
    c) minimizing does not work either.
I moved around to start the normal linux rdesktop application using the approch from
    http://www.cendio.com/seamlessrdp
and all works - beside of
    a) can't see the minimized application on my client taskbar
    b) can not maximize the notepad application after miminize )-:
So, could somebody help me to find a solution for my business
need "Starting seamless window appliction from a seamless unix-app using SGD" ?
    thanks in advance
    best regards

AFAIK, today on mayn browse rthis may be forbidden action by default. If IE7 may allow that at all at least user must add their server into the trust zone..then they can link from html into his local HD.

    Hi,
You are getting the error because the printer name is greater than 40 characters.
The SAPLPD can only recognize printer names with 40 characters or less.
From the log, i believe you are using the printer BKC_7THFLR_HPCOLOR3800 ON THMUMGDCPS01 (FROM BKCDT1017) IN SESSION 11
but the SAPLPD is recognizing only till BKC_7thFlr_HPColor3800 on THMUMGDCPS01.
Try to change the printer name .. it will work

  • When launch w/ Seamless windows, doesn't effectively end session

To replicate, we are doing the following:
    1) Have users launch MS Visio by clicking a link on our site as follows:
    https://servername.com/sgd/launcher.jsp?o=Write&e=false
    2) And Visio is running as a "Seamless Window"
The result: when a user closes Visio (clicks the "X" or file>exit application), the windows app server effectively logs out of that terminal services session, but SGD's object manager still shows that the session has been "suspended." Additionally, the taskbar tcc.exe icon is still present. Users then have trouble logging in again, get errors, etc.
But when we have visio launch in an independent window, and the user closes the app, everything works fine (the taskbar icon goes away and object manager shows that the session has actually closed).
This means we cannot use seamless windows in this way. Can Sun replicate this, and is there a workaround or a fix planned?
    Thank you

Had a very similar issue with Linux KDE applications. Appears, we have corrected the issues the issue was the parent process forked a process, elevating the child to it's own parent disassociating the forked process, (child) from the parent. When the application was closed with File close all was fine, when the applications was closed with the X we saw the issue. To correct the issue we changed the options in the ARRAY relative to what to due when the application exits and leveraged a no fork option available within the application. I realize this may not or will not help. But, we started looking at unconventional way's to launch applications and dug very deeply into the options as to how applications can be executed/launched, the options were relative to the application not SGD.

Apparently our Sandbox system didn't have a Spool server configured. That's why the error. It works perfectly in other systems.
The output device's Host Printer must be defined on the spool server for saplpd to recognize. Otherwise you see an error.

  • Nested Window Problem

Hopefully someone out there can help solve this one.
How do you get a child window to automatically resize within a parent
    window?
On their own both the child window and the parent window behave as
expected but once we attempt to load the child window into the parent
window the child window is sized to some unknown but excessively large
    size.
Can this be solved with some creative use of parent size relationships
or do we have to programmatically size the child window?
Any help/comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    Sean G. Germain

    Glen,
Thank you for the prompt reply.
We have already done what you suggested (My explanation was not very
clear ... sorry) to no avail.
Any more takers and/or ideas anyone?
    Thanks,

You may need to dynamically tell the child window what its parent is (such
as a named grid that exists on the parent window). Setting the child
window to size to its parent should work once the child window knows who
its parent is. You should be able to put your window into that grid at
specified row and column coordinates. To reset the parent and position a
widget in a grid, you do something like the following:
    <Widget>.Parent = NIL;
    <Widget>.Row = 1;
    <Widget>.Column = 1;
    <Widget>.Parent = <TargetGrid>;
I believe that you should be able to do the same thing for a window, too
    (using "Self.Window" instead of "<Widget>").

  • Running Worldcraft with Wine (or OpenGL in child window problem)

Hi!, I'm trying to run Worldcraft (the Half life map editing tool) with wine (version 0.9.30), everything works fine except when I choose to display a 3D view on one of the viewports  (3D views uses OpenGL to render the scene), when I do this, the whole window turns black, and flickers (showing some portion of the original window) when I hit the mouse button of move the window.
This seems to be the Opengl in child window problem that was supposedly fixed in wine 0.9.28, but, well.. it happens    This happens also with Lightwave 8.0.
Can anyone try and see if this happens to you as well?  or.. well. does anybody knows how to fix it?
    thanks a lot!

Thanks Nephastos, but I'm trying to run Worldcraft, not Warcraft Worldcraft is a world editing tool for Half-Life.
I uploaded it to my server if anyone would like to try and see if it works for you (as it is an issue that should be solved by now, I think),  you can download it from http://www.darkdesigns.com.ar/worldcraft3.exe

  • Failure to search - query window problem

    Hello again,
Have anyone of you came across a problem with SAP search mechanism in query window attached to document field? I've created a simple query of "Select acctcode, acctname from OACT where acctcode like '2%' and postable='Y' order by acctcode" and attached it to one of document fields (doesn't matter which one). When I run this query a usual window poped up with a search field on the top, but when I typed "2" in it, selection bar moved right into first 231 account ignoring any of the lesser numbers. There is more - when I changed query to search for '5%' like accounts, I gained the same result - accounts less than 530 were ignored even if I typed "50" or "51". BUT - when I changed query sort order to "desc", all account became "findable".
I got this problem in one database only which is SAP 8.8 PL10 version upgraded recently from 2007A one. I've checked with a newly created 8.8 and such problem hasn't occured.

    Hello Thomasz,
I might be off base here, what happens when you use this???
Do you get the same types of query window problem???
    Select
    acctcode,
    acctname,
    segment_0
    from OACT
    where Segment_0 like '2%'
    order by acctcode
    for browse

    Hi,
It's pointless to use that ammount of ram under Win9x/Me as it will be slower then if you use only 256MB witch is the optimal ammount for these OS'ses.
So you better take 256 out or move to Win2000/XP....

  • My Offset filter not working in Cs6: Seamless pattern problems

    Hi all.
Im trying to create a seamless pattern. using lots of layers.
Im going to filter/other/offset/, adding the vertical or horizontal dimensions for as 2953px (image size is 2953px x 2953px). and checking the ‘wrap around’ box.
But it’s not working & is cropping off loads of the layer, so not seamless at all.
I've tried with another layer and the same thing is happening.
I've 'revealed all' and shows nothing. I’ve tried to delete any transparent stray pixels around the layer I'm trying to wrap.
& I have also selected all & then cropped the image but it’s still happening.
I've googled till my hearts content but found no other idea on how to solve. Any ideas?
All my layers are from brushes I have created and used so lots of transparent textures. But that would be a problem if I have tried all of the above would it?
    Many thanks in advance.

Thanks. I have attached screen shot.
If you see on the top left and bottom left this is the "white flower copy" layer that I am trying to offset. This is a copy of the white flow with blue centre just to the left of the offset window.
You will see that the offset layer I want to wrap is missing the blue centre.

I do believe that because of that problem , I had seen " Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space " after I saw a couple of forms.

But judging from that snippet, you're creating a new "noresult" (which I assume is a JWindow or JFrame?), then immediately disposing of it, without even displaying it. This is NOT closing any previously-opened noresult instances, which I am starting to think is what you want to do. You need a reference to a previous noresult if you want to close it.
Also, you shouldn't be calling DesktopApplication2.main(), this is very bad practice. You likely want to call DesktopApplication2's constructor if it is a JFrame/JDialog subclass, and setVisible(true) the result; if it's not a JFrame or JDialog, you want to create whatever main window it does create, and display that.
What if DesktopApplication2 calls System.exit() somewhere? Your application would go down with it.

  • How I fixed my iPod not seen in windows problem

This seems to be a recurring question. I was having lockup problems when trying to either update or attach iTunes to my 60 GB iPod photo. I have a windows pc running XP Pro with all the latest updates. I had the problems on iTunes 5 and the latest 6.0. I also have the latest system software (1.2) on the iPod. I observed that the problems seem to occur as soon as I had put a substantial number of songs on the iPod. I have antivirus software but determined that was not the problem since excluding the iPod for scanning and totally disabling the software did not help. I am using USB 2.0 ports for my iPod and not FireWire.
What I did that seems to have fixed the problem was to disable the power save option for the USB ports in windows. I suspect that while iTunes is cranking away trying to figure out what to do with the thousands of songs in my library, the USB port is unused enough to put it into power save mode. I could be wrong but when I disabled this feature in windows I found it immediately fixed the problem and I have not had any problems with my iPod on this computer since. Here is what to do on XP:
Go to the control panel and pull up the System control.
    Get into the Hardware panel.
    Go to Device Manager.
Find the Universal Serial Bus Controllers device and open it up.
You will see devices called USB root hub 2.0 and USB root hub.
Double click on them to open up the devices and get to the Power Management tab.
Disable the power save feature for them and press OK.
That should be all you need to do.
One other useful thing in power management is to see the total current drain of each of the devices on the USB ports in use. Make sure that you don't have devices on there that exceed the 500 mA that the ports can source. One iPod alone is not going to be a problem but it is worth checking if you have multiple devices on there. The power management screen on the PC will tell you what the load is from each device.
The other critical thing I found was to make sure that your iPod is charged up before you try a big update. The battery can drain in the middle of a large sync and that causes havoc because the USB port is not a battery charger even though it supplies power to the iPod.
I hope this helps. It sure helped me.

One other useful thing in power management is to see the total current drain of each of the devices on the USB ports in use. Make sure that you don't have devices on there that exceed the 500 mA that the ports can source.
This is a good point. USB ports are very limited in the amount of power they can supply to a device. Since the iPod is charging a rather large battery from this power, it's well worth the trouble to give the iPod it's own USB connection, one that is not shared with any other devices. Really, this isn't iPod specific, it goes for anything that's charging from the USB port.
