Target directory in file adapter

Hi,
Please let me know how can we set the target directory in the receiver file adapter by reading the database (maybe from a table in the database).
regards,
Raghu

try to avoid variable substitution. You can make use of adapter specific attributes in this case. For example for the same file name you can ref:
/people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/11/10/xi-the-same-filename-from-a-sender-to-a-receiver-file-adapter--sp14
Similar logic can be used for directory also.

  • Target Directory in File Receiver Adapter

    Experts,
    I am trying for a scenario (File to File) and I am not sure if the target directory is a directory in XI server or my local machine. I used HTML client to send the message to the adapter. Also if any of you could give clear idea about source and target direcory without pointing to any weblog, I would greatly appreciate it. As I have tried every weblog available with a word File in it.
    Thanks

  • Dynamic file Directory : Sender File Adapter

    Hi all
    In one of our interface development ,at  we require a dynamic Directory path at the sender file adapter ..
    ex :
    path = Root/A/B/C
    filename = test.txt
    now in Root Directory, Folder & subfolder  " A ( B ( C )))  are dynamic.
    Subfolder "C"  wil contain the source file..
    Will it possible...with Z module development..??
    Regards,
    Ashutosh

    hi,
    if you want your directory name dynamically from Payload, you can use the option variable substitustion;
    For example follow below procedure:
    1)in the Target directory name --> /%dir%
    2)go to advanced tab and check for the variable substitution option(enable),
    3)variable name:dir
       Reference:Payload:mt_filetest,1,name,1
    according to the given details in the communication channel your  payload should be like this
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <ns0:mt_filetest xmlns:ns0="urn://filetest">
       <name>madhav</name>
    </ns0:mt_filetest>
    now  directory is created with the name of madhav (Dynamically according to the payload directory name is created).
    Note: points if it is useful
    Thanks
    Madhav

  • Dynamic update to Inbound Directory for File Adapter Read

    I've seen references to others asking similar questions but never a good answer.
    I have a process that outputs files into daily dated directories. In other words, my Inbound Direct name is dynamic. I would like BPEL to be able to pick up these files but the Directory Spec for the inbound file adapter seems to be set at design time (or in the case of a Logical Directory Deployment time).
    The directory names are in YYYMMDD format. So it would be:
    importdir/YYYMMDD
    for each day.
    Is there a way I can monitor an entire subtree, or have some event that triggers the directory name to be updated (for instance, a process watches the parent directory and kicks off when a new directory is created), or any other method I can inform the FileAdapter to begin polling a different directory.
    Thanks.

  • 2 BPEL Processes doing Read at same directory in File Adapter.

    Hi,
    I am using File Adapter for Read operation. Normally we would make a Logical Directory for reading files at that location. There is a design design scenario where 2 BPEL processes will need to read file from same File location.
    Incase such a design is implemented, will it work? And if yes, what will the precedence for reading file by BPEL processes. Also, will both of them read the files or one will be reading the file?
    OR
    Is there any other way that the same design can be implemeted??
    I am using Oracle SOA 10.1.3.4 and JDeveloper 10.1.3.4.
    Will really appreciate if someone can help in this regard.
    Thanks for the needful.
    Cheers,
    Varun

    Hi Varun
    As per the best practice guide :
    The file and FTP adapters support the high availability feature for the active-passive
    topology. Perform the following steps to configure the adapter for this feature:
    1. Create a shared folder on a highly available file system. This folder must have
    write permissions and must be accessible from all systems running the file and
    FTP adapters.
    2. Open the pc.properties file available in the SOA_ORACLE_
    HOME\bpel\system\service\config directory on each node.
    3. Set oracle.tip.adapter.file.controldirpath to the shared folder name.
    This is the shared folder that stores the control files for the adapter.
    4. Restart the servers.
    Note that in the case of Oracle ESB, you must rename SOA_ORACLE_
    HOME\integration\esb\config\pc.
    You can use a trigger file .tg to notify the second process that it can pick the file which the first process has written into the folder.

  • To pick files from multiple directory in FILE ADAPTER

    Hi all,
    Is their any settings or adapter configuration parameters to be used  to pick  the files from multiple directory .

    Hi,
    You can only specify one directory on the communication channel. The advance selection allows the selection of different files within this directory.
    Therefore you will need a communication channel for each directory you wish to pull files from.
    (Just looked at the blog and see it is possible after all - I'm on the wrong SP)
    Kind regards

  • Specifying current directory in Receiver File Adapter

    Hi Experts,
    I have been configuring a receiver file adapter to place a file onto an FTP server. As per the information provided, as soon as I login to the FTP server, I have to place the file in current logged in directory. In this case, how can I mention this in file adapter as to use the current directory path to place the file? What should I enter in 'Target Directory' in File Access Parameters?
    Thanks,
    Dhawal

    Hi Praveen,
    Since file directory parameter is mandatory, my question is what should I enter in this parameter so that the file adapter will know that the file should be placed in the root directory itself?

  • Sender_interface_name in Variable Substitution in Receiver File Adapter CC

    Hi,
    as per this page : http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/bc/bb79d6061007419a081e58cbeaaf28/frameset.htm
    it says:
    Variable Substitution (Target Directory/File Name Scheme)
    If you set the Enable indicator, you can enter variables for the Target Directory and File Name Scheme. Enter the names of the variables and references in the table.
    ●      Enter each variable that you reference in the Target Directory and File Name Scheme fields without the surrounding percentage sign under Name of Variables in the table.
    The variables can refer to attributes of the message header or elements of the message payload.
    ○       If the variables are to refer to an attribute of the message header, add the prefix message: to the name of the variable under Reference. You can specify the following attributes of the message header:
    sender_party, sender_service, receiver_party, receiver_service, interface_name, interface_namespace, message_id, message_id_hex
    Can we not access sender_interface_name and sender_interface_namespace are not mentioned in above list of variables.
    Is it not possible to access sender_interface_name or sender_interface_namespace as variable substitute parameters from within Receiver File Adapter Communication channel.
    thanks.

    >Shabarish Vijayakumar wrote:

    >>so you can hard code the value, isnt it?
    Yes, i can hardcode, thats not a bad idea, i need to create then 3 different Reciever File Communication Channel objects, as I am dealing with 3 scenarios for which sender system and sender interface is different.
    >Shabarish Vijayakumar wrote:
    >>if you look at the mapping runtime constants, those are also for the receiver since the sender interface will always remain constant for any particular CC.

    yes in this link you provided i can see..
    INTERFACE     Interface
    INTERFACE_NAMESPACE     InterfaceNamespace
    SENDER_SERVICE     SenderService
    RECEIVER_SERVICE ReceiverService
    RECEIVER_NAME     ReceiverName
    RECEIVER_NAMESPACE     ReceiverNamespace
    it seems both INTERFACE (,INTERFACE_NAMESPACE) and RECEIVER_NAME(,RECEIVER_NAMESPACE) are present, may be one is for sender, and another is for receiver.. may be if i use dynamic configuration, possibly my issue would be addressed.. correct me if i am wrong.
    thanks.

  • File-Adapter: Variable substitution form payload XML-attribute

    Hi experts,
    is possible to use XML-attribute-content for variable substitution in file-Adapter?
    extract from XML:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
    - <all>
    - <transaction <b>file="filename"</b>>
    - <table name="BPAADDRESS" options="insertIfUpdateFails">
    - <record id="1">

      <hkeycol name="USAGE">Invoice</hkeycol>
      </transaction>
    I want to get the value "filename" = attribute file of transaction.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks a lot,
    Florian

    I have done this taking a field from the XML.
    You have to map the location of the field within the XML...
    Taken from:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/bc/bb79d6061007419a081e58cbeaaf28/frameset.htm
    Variable Substitution (Target Directory/File Name Scheme)
    If you set the Enable indicator, you can enter variables for the Target Directory and File Name Scheme. Enter the names of the variables and references in the table.
    &#9679;      Enter each variable that you reference in the Target Directory and File Name Scheme fields without the surrounding percentage sign under Name of Variables in the table.
    The variables can refer to attributes of the message header or elements of the message payload.
    &#9675;       If the variables are to refer to an attribute of the message header, add the prefix message: to the name of the variable under Reference. You can specify the following attributes of the message header:
    sender_party, sender_service, receiver_party, receiver_service, interface_name, interface_namespace,
    message_id (message ID with hyphens, for example 9fbe1ff1-9a0d-11d9-8665-cbf10a126331)
    message_id_hex (message ID in hexadecimal format, for example 9fbe1ff19a0d11d98665cbf10a126331)
    For example, if you want to specify the interface name from the message header in the target directory or in the file name scheme, enter message:interface_name as the reference.
    If one of the message attributes contains characters that are not permitted in a file name, for example \, /, :, *, ?, ", <, >, |, then these characters are replaced by an underscore ("_").
    &#9675;       If the variable refers to an element in XML schema, add the prefix payload: to the information under Reference. The reference then comprises a pseudo path description in the form of a comma-separated list with the schema namea,na,nameb,nb,....
    namea,nameb,... corresponds to the element name and na,nb,... corresponds to the occurrence of the element name at the respective level in the document.
    The description begins at the root of the document and ends at the respective element.
    To reference the element that is in bold in the example, the following expression is used: payload:root,1,e1,1,e2,2
    The parser searches for the first occurrence of the root element at the first level. It then searches for the first occurrence of e1 at the second level and for the second occurrence of e2 at the third level. The content of the last element (“Example Value”) is set as the value for a specified variable.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <root>
      <dummy>
         <e1>
            <e2>Data_1</e2>
            <f/>
            <g attr="abc">text</g>
            <e2>Data_2</e2>
         </e1>
      </dummy>
      <e1>
         <e2>illegal/value</e2>
         <f/>
         <g attr="abc">text</g>
         <e2 attr="fghij">Example Value</e2>
      </e1>
    </root>
    &#9679;      To disable the check the adapter performs for the element data, set the Disable Security Checks indicator.
    Otherwise, the adapter checks whether the element data contains characters that could lead to security risks in the file system environment. The check includes the characters “/“, “\“, and “..“.

  • Empty-Message Handling is not working in receievr File Adapter

    Hi All,
    I have selected "Empty-Message Handling" = 'Ignore'in Receiver File adapter, but still empty files are creating in target directory.
    Message mapping generates output based on the conditon, if the condition is 'false' mapping will generate empty file (no data is being mapped).
    Why Receiver file adapter is processing empty fiels even i set 'ignore' empty fiels in configuration (ID)?
    Hoe can i manage not to place empty fiels in target directory?
    File type is '.txt'
    Your help would be appreiciated greatly.
    Thanks,
    Rajesh

    Not sure why is it not working. Make sure the channel is activated and cache is refreshed properly. But as a workaround you may use OS script checking for size of message and deleting it or configure a BPM to avoid the file creation. Or else an adapter module as shown

  • Create target directory ?

    How to create target directory in a receiver File adapter ? Is this option in the file systm access parameters or processing parameters of the file adapter ? i didnt see a box that says create target directory in either. Please help me with this issue

    > This option Create target directory, will it be there if I select the File adapter as sender. Or this option is there only if you select the File adapter as receiver ?
    >
    > Can you please clarify this doubt as well.
    It is quite logical. For Sender adapter there will be no need to create the dir coz dir already exist and you will pick the file from that dir with the help of Sender Adapter.
    But in case of Receiver Adapter you need to know wether the dir exists or not and thats why we tick the check box to make sure if dir does not exists then it will be created (If you have permissions to create the new dir). But again if dir already exists then no need to tick the box "Create Target Directory", the file will be automatically created at target dir.
