Task Approval - Access denied

Hi
I've used a SPD task approval and the task approves for someone with full access.
I now have added a user with Approve role and this person Sharepoint Tom is logged in.
The task is assigned to Sharepoint Tom also.
The task list is visible but when Sharepoint Tom attempts to complete the task an error dialog is displayed:
You are currently signed in as:  WL_DOM1\SharepointTom
Why is the account name being used?
In the top rhs the browser displayes the user as Sharepoint Tom
Any ideas?

Hi,
The issue might be caused by permission.
Could you please provide detail explanation about how you " added a user with Approve role "?
Can SharePoint Tom approve the task for others?
Since you said "SPD task approval", I assume you are using SharePoint designer OOB Approval Workflow, correct me if there is misunderstanding.

  • Multiple instances of firefox running cannot kill in task manager "Access denied"

    There's no issue with starting a new instance after closing one, the "firefox is already running" error is not occurring (ok maybe once or twice a month, but it's not related to this problem, as my problem happens all the time.)
    Apparently when closing a ff window it never fully stops. My computer slows down because of it and these multiple instances of firefox show up in Task Manager. When I try to kill the extra processes it just goes "BANG" and the "access denied" error dialog box appears. They are all running under my user account, and in CPU some are just 10 or 25 and some are in the hundreds and some are over a million. what the heck is going on?
    I'm running Windows 7 64 bit and ff 23.0 but this has been happening since about ff 15 (?)

    When closing Firefox completely, it is important to close it using the <i>Exit</i> button, located inside of the Firefox/File menu.
    Another cause to this problem could be a Firefox preloader. Do you have any programs that will load Firefox automatically? They are supposed to improve start time.
    You can also '''try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
    ''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * Open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
    ''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
    '''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
    ''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
    I hope that one of my solutions helps to fix your problem. Please report back with updates soon.
    <b>NOTE: </b>You are using an outdated version of Firefox. This can cause security and functionality issue. Please update to the most recent version as soon as possible.

  • Access Denied Error For Shared Folder with Win Server 2008R2 Task Manager Scheduled Task

    Hi,
    I have scheduled a Task with the Task scheduler. It invokes an .EXE file after every 5 min.
    The application is supposed to access some files lying on a different Server's shared path, process them and move them across folders on the Shared path only.
    Problem: When the .EXE gets executed from the Task scheduler, I am getting "Access Denied to the Shared path" error. I have already given Full Control to Everyone as well as to the Account with which the Task has been configured with.
    Another important point to note is, if I run the .EXE manually, the solution is able is able to do everything intended; I don't get any Access Denied error.
    Kindly help me with what needs to be done in order that this issue is resolved. This is really urgent for me.
    Thanks a lot in advance..

    Hello Alex,
    first of all, make sure your task was correctly create: How to Create Advanced Tasks with the Task

    UAC: Do you receive the User Account Control "Windows need your permission to continue" message to approve the scheduled application ?
    If yes, maybe "Run with highest privileges" option will not take precedence of the UAC. While the Admin Approval Mode for built-in Administrator account is enabled, UAC will still ask for approval according to the settings on the Behavior
    of elevation to prompt for the administrators. Check whether the "User Account Control: Admin Approval Mode for built-in Administrator account" is enabled. If yes, disable it or change the setting on "User Account Control: Behavior

  • View access denied to Reset on task definition

    Hi,
    We are facing a weird issue. We have an end user task which we trigger directly from a web page of a different application. The URL for task launch is something like this : https://mycomany.com/idmcs/user/processLaunch.jsp?id=Self+Service+Password+Reset+Registration&op_appid=csi.
    If we open a new browser window and copy paste this URL and hit enter, it takes to /user/login.jsp. We input the user credentials and submit, it triggers the task.
    But the behavior is different if we do the following:
    1. Open a browser window, access anonmain.jsp (https://mycomany.com/idmcs/user/anonmain.jsp)
    2. It routes to anonlogin.jsp (https://mycomany.com/idmcs/user/anonlogin.jsp) and asks for anononymous user name
    3. We input some junk user name submit. It takes to anonmain.jsp.
    4. Now in the same browser window if we copy past the processLaunch URL (https://mycomany.com/idmcs/user/processLaunch.jsp?id=Self+Service+Password+Reset+Registration&op_appid=csi) and click submit, it ideally should route to login.jsp.
    Instead it throws the view access denied error : "View access denied to Reset on process Self Service Password Reset Registration"
    Any idea what the issue might be?
    Thanks,
    kIDMan.

    Hi
    Normally when this happens you need to add the process "Self Service Password Reset Registration" to the End User Tasks list and Anonymous User Tasks list configuration objects.
    I dont know if this will help in your situation.

  • CcmEval Scheduled task not being created with "Access Denied" error 0x80070005 only on XP machines

    Before coming on here I checked out http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/ddbfe6c3-ee54-4b2a-a3a7-a6515d974f76/client-check-failed-on-xpserver-2003-systems-onlyccmeval-is-not-being-scheduled?forum=configmanagerdeployment (GPO

    That said, I'm having an issue many seem to have, but I can't find the answer. From what I understand SCCM uses the user context to create the CcmEval task, but in XP users cannot set a task to run as any other user (ie SYSTEM in this instance) so what is

    The bolded section is what's telling me it's Access Denied, and manual creation of any program task set to run as SYSTEM tells me the same- users cannot do this; only admins can.
    What can I do?

    So after sifting through some RSOP results and GPO objects I found a policy that wasn't necessarily prohibiting creation of them. (Not where you think it would be - under
    Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Task Scheduler > "Prohibit New Task Creation" -
    this was set to allow them) but this one I found was a File Permissions policy that set SYSTEM permissions to READ and EXECUTE.
    I've changed this to FULL CONTROL for SYSTEM. I'm unable to get on the machines to examine everything closely, but from what I can see at least one of them has remediated themselves and now has a successful client check in the console. Hopefully the rest
    of them will come around as GP updates itself and the client does an evaluation to remediate the Scheduled Task.
    Hopefully this helps someone in the future as well.

  • When I download itunes, it says that Ipod Service failed to start. I checked the services under task manager and when I try to start it, it says access denied. How to I get access and for the ipod service to start and run?

    Please help. My ipod classic could not be recognised by itunes when I connect my ipod to PC. Previously it has been recognised before I updated. This was a while ago now and so I removed all apple files and re installed the latest itunes but am having the same problem.
    When I download itunes, it says that Ipod Service failed to start. I checked the services under task manager and when I try to start it, it says access denied. How to I get access and for the ipod service to start and run?

    Some anti-virus programs (e.g., McAfee) have this rule that can be invoked under the "maximum protection" settings: PREVENT PROGRAMS REGISTERING AS A SERVICE. If that rule is set to BLOCK, then any attempt to install or upgrade iTunes will fail with an "iPod service failed to start" message.
    If you are getting this problem with iTunes, check to see if your anti-virus has this setting and unset it, at least for as long as the iTunes install requires. Exactly how to find the rule and turn it on and off will vary, depending upon your anti-malware software. However, if your anti-virus or anti-malware software produces a log of its activities, examining the log may help you find the problem.
    For example, here's the log entry for McAfee:
    9/23/2009 3:18:45 PM Blocked by Access Protection rule NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe \REGISTRY\MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\iPod Service Common Maximum Protection:Prevent programs registering as a service Action blocked : Create
    Note that the log says "Common Maximum Protection: Prevent programs registering as a service". The "Common Maximum Protection" is the location of the rule, "Prevent programs registering as a service" is the rule. I used that information to track down the location in the McAfee VirusScan Console where I could turn the rule off.
    After I made the change, iTunes installed without complaint.

  • Access denied for Association form and Initiation Form in SharePoint 2013 Workflows VS2012

    Hi,
         We created one simple Sharepoint 2013 approval workflow that has custom association and initiation forms. The workflows works when the workflow is created by the site owner. But when a user with edit permissions try to start a workflow
    or associate a new workflow we get Access Denied error message. I believe this permission is somthing todo withthe workflow list wfsvc where these association form and initiation forms reside. What else could be missing here?how do i check permission on the
    wfsvc list. please help. User also have create and edit permission on the workflow history and workflow task lists.
    Thank you

    If it works with Full control permission then there is something on the site which is causing this issue.
    Try to collect HTTPwatch or fiddler trace to check more details.
    Also You need to enable Verbose logging to check details. If possible paste the verbose logging in the comments.

  • Always Access Denied when choosing Automatically Enrol and Retrieve Certificates from MMC

    I am using 2008 R2 Certificate Services to issue certs across multiple forests (although don't let that muddy the waters).
    I have a need to issue certificates for use with s/ldap, so I have duplicated the Kerberos cert and removed all Intended Purposes other than Server Authentication and configured appropriate security to allow Domain Controllers/Domain Admins to enrol.
    The certificate also requires CA Manager Approval.
    Everything looks good - I am able to enrol for the cert via the MMC, the request goes into pending, and I am then able to issue the cert.  However, when I go back into the MMC on the Server that requested the cert and choose All Tasks | Automatically
    Enrol and Retrieve Certificates, I choose the pending cert and then get Access Denied.
    On the issuing Server, I get an Event 21 in the App Log:
    Active Directory Certificate Services could not process request 8466 due to an error: Access is denied. 0x80070005 (WIN32: 5).  The request was for CN=server.domain.com.
    On the Server that requested the cert, I get an Event 9:
    Certificate enrollment for Local system was denied by servername\Issuing CA when retrieving the pending request for a SecureLDAPCertificate certificate with request ID 8466.
    The strange thing is, if I follow this procedure but using the certsrv website, it works fine and I can install the certificate.
    What am I missing?  Or is this one of those random quirks of AD CS?
    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi,
    Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet forums.
    According to the error messages you provided, this can be a permission issue.
    The method of Autoenrollment for a certificate depends on an Active Directory. Considering using Certsrv website was successful, the problem can be that the requester does not have enough permission to access the certificate template in Active Directory
    To autoenroll a certificate template, a user or computer must belong to a security group that is assigned the read,enroll,and autoenroll permissions.
    Only groups that are assigned these permissions are enabled for autoenrollment.
    Could you please answer the following questions for us so that we can troubleshoot the issue more effectively?
    Are the issuing CA server and the requesting CA in the same forest/domain?
    regards
    Ted

  • Root cause of error " Access denied. You do not have permission to perform this action or access this resource" - workflow - SharePoint 2013

    Good evening, technet community
    I hope you are doing well.
    When configuring my SharePoint workflow, I encounter the problem below:
    Problem Description:
    Let's say my domain is: test.com, my group user is: test\group , my user is: test\user1
    Except an admin account with full control at both "Web Application" and "Site Collection", all others account all have problem when creating a list item. After creating a list item, the workflow status is "cancelled" immediately
    with the following message:

    - The workflow is still fail even I assign "full control" to my users group "test\group" – at Site Collection level.
    Surprisingly, I have successfully found a solution for this error message. However, I still have some points that I do not clearly understand. Let's start with my solution first.
    Solution:
    *** i. Assign permission policy at Web Application level – Central Admin site ***
    1. Central Administration ==> Application management
    ==> Manage Web application
    2. Go to "permission policy", then create a new permission level. This permission level contains all "edit item" permission.
    3. Select "user policy", then I assign it directly to my user account: test\user1.
    *** ii. Assign "edit item" permission at Site Collection level ***
    1. Site Setting ==> Site permission
    2. Assign "Edit" permission to my test\group.
    (Actually I removed all permissions of my user group at Site Collection level. It seem my group has inherited permission from Web Application level, is that correct? )
    *** iii. Create a new list item and workflow runs ……. ***
    ==> My question is:
    1. Why I cannot assign permission to my users group - "test\group" -
     at "Web Application" level? Instead I have to assign permission policy for each users, one by one?
    2. Could you please let me know how to collect full detail error message of workflow status?
    Thank you very much! Have a nice weekend.

    Thank you for your very detail response.
    Point 1: Yes my 2 service: user profile & profile sync service are running. I performed "full synchronization" as well. Actually i've tried 3 another action plans before coming up with the solution i posted:
    *** Actions completed ***
    1. Activate the feature: workflow can use app permissions.
    Site actions > Site Settings > Site features >activate the feature below:
     Workflows can use app permissions
    2.
    Refresh trusted security token services metadata feed
    Get-SPTimerJob
    "RefreshMetadataFeed"
    | Start-SPTimerJob
    - then restart the machine.
    3. Start full user profile synchronization.
    Point 2:
    - Yes my user had Edit permission at workflow task list + list affected by workflow.
    I have just remove all permissions of my user at "Site Collection" level. However, when i show my user permissions at my workflow task list and my users still have "Edit" Permission ( assigned at Web Application level. These permissions
    still exist even after my workflow task list stop inheriting permission).
    ==> the problems probably belongs to "permission" at "Site Collection level". It seems "permission level at my Site Collection does not work". All users accounts are also suffer from the same issues except farm admin account
    ( which has full control at Web Application level).
    I would appreciate if your guys can guide me how to make "permission" at my "Site Collection level" work again?
    Thank you very much.

    StorageFolder local = Windows.Storage.ApplicationData.Current.LocalFolder;
    var file = await local.GetFileAsync("uservarfile.xml");
    await file.DeleteAsync(StorageDeleteOption.PermanentDelete);
    When I tap each of the buttons once it all seems to work. But when I tap any of the buttons again within the same debug session I get an Access denied exception (E_ACCESSDENIED). Other people with this error had to await when calling their method, but I'm
    already doing that: private async void btnWrite_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { await WriteToXMLFile(); }, etc.
    And the intervals between my taps isn't that short that you'd expect that the previously called method still had not finished completing. I don't understand why I'm getting the access denied error.
    Related to my question: I have added XML to the File Type Associations, File Open Picker and File Save Picker in the appxmanifest, but somewhere I read that you do not need to do this if you're working with local app data only. Is this true?

    var stream = await file.OpenAsync(Windows.Storage.FileAccessMode.ReadWrite);
    I think because of your file stream hasn't been closed.
    by the way, it can be easier  by using System.IO.OpenStreamForWriteAsync extension method
    async public static Task<bool> SaveTextFileAsync(string filename, string data)
    byte[] fileBytes = System.Text.Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(data);
    StorageFolder local = Windows.Storage.ApplicationData.Current.LocalFolder;
    var file = await local.CreateFileAsync(filename, CreationCollisionOption.ReplaceExisting);
    try
    using (var s = await file.OpenStreamForWriteAsync())
    s.Write(fileBytes, 0, fileBytes.Length);
    return true;
    catch
    return false;
    (need using System.IO namespace)

  • Office 2013 C2R - Access denied to installation source from workgroup PC (Error Code 5-4 and 17002)

    I have set up Office 2013 Home and Business on a network share using the Office Deployment Tool.
    Domain members can install Office 2013 with no problems using the command line
    \\Server\share\Office2013\setup.exe /configure
    \\Server\share\Office2013\configuration-home-and-biz.xml
    However, if the PC is not a member of the domain I get an Access Denied message, even though "everyone" has full control of the share and NTFS files and subfolders
    The full message is as follows,
    Access denied to installation source
    Sorry, we ran into a problem accessing a required file. Please check that the installation source has correct permissions, the try again.
    Go online for additional help
    Error Code: 5-4
    As soon as I join the PC to the domain the installation works but I would like to pre-install Office as part of an MDT Task Sequence before the PC joins the domain.
    Does anyone know how I can make this work?
    The Office setup log shows a different error code
    03/05/2014 16:23:24.834 SETUP (0xe38) 0xec0  Click-To-Run apx75 Monitorable TryLaunchClient::HandleStateAction: C2R Client returned failing error code 17002
    FYI: My config xml file contains the following
    <Configuration>  <Add SourcePath="\\Server\share\Office2013\" OfficeClientEdition="32" >    <Product ID="HomeBusinessRetail">      <Language ID="en-us" />    </Product>  </Add>  <Updates Enabled="TRUE" UpdatePath="\\Server\share\Office2013\" />  <Display Level="Full" AcceptEULA="TRUE" />        <!--  <Display Level="None" AcceptEULA="TRUE" />  -->  <Logging Name="OfficeSetup-*.txt" Path="%temp%" />  <Property Name="AUTOACTIVATE" Value="0" /></Configuration>

    C2R editions of Office, during the installation routine, will initially commence execution in the security context of the logged in user, but partway through the installation routine the installation transitions into the security context of the local computer
    account. This means that unless the computer account also has network access permissions to the installation source folder/share, the installation routine will fail.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219423(v=office.15).aspx#PrepareDeploy
    Important:
    The computer account for the computer on which you install Click-to-Run for Office 365 products must have read permission to the network share that contains the Office Deployment Tool, the customized Configuration.xml file, and the Click-to-Run for Office
    365 product and language files. If you cannot give read permission to the computer account, you can copy the files down to the computer from the network share, and then run Setup from the computer. After the installation is complete, you can delete those files
    from the computer.
    To workaround this, your installation script routine can copy the installation source files from the server folder/share to a local folder on the computer, then launch the setup routine from that local source.
    In your example scenario, the workgroup computer (because it is not a member of "DOMAIN\Authenticated Users" does not have access permissions to the server folder/share.

  • Sql agent job getting file access denied error

    I'm not sure if this question belongs in this forum. Please move it if you want to.
    Here is my question. I have an ssis package that is running into an error at the file system task trying to move a file. The package is deployed to the catalog and I am running the package using the stored procedure
    [SSISDB].[catalog].[start_execution] @execution_id
    When I execute this stored proc in Management Studio while logged in under a sysadmin, everything works fine. But when I call the same TQL in SQL Agent job, I get a file access denied error. This has something to do with the id that is getting used
    to run the package and I am not sure how to track that down. Any help would be appreciated.
    I've check the windows permission on both the id that is running the SQL Agent and SQL SSIS Service. Both seem to have the right windows permission.

  • Regedit Permissions -"Access Denied" or "Error while deleting key" EVEN AS ADMIN!

    Anyone tried deleting a registry key in Windows 7?  Got "access denied" or "Error while deleting key"?
    The usual response is, "You need to run regedit as an administrator".  but I *AM* logged in as Administrator, and running regedit as administrator, trying to assign administrator full permissions on that registry key in order to delete it!!
    Am I mistaken, or isn't Administrator supposed to be able to administer and control all the settings on the computer, in order to set it up for the "Average Joe" user?
    So, under the permissions menu of that key, go to advanced, change the owner from System to Administrator, and try again.  It's no longer saying "access denied", but "Cannot delete xxxxxx. Error while deleting key".
    The scenario: Basically, the wireless has stopped working on a laptop. The device does not show up in Device Manager, but is in the registry, so the normal procedure is to delete the registry entry for the device in HKLM/System/CurrentControlSet (and /ControlSet001) /Enum/PCI    ,then attach the device or restart the computer, it finds the "new" hardware and reinstalls it. Easy!...
    Not with permission restrictions on the administrator account it's not!  So I need to give myself permission, to give myself permission, to do a simple task like delete a single registry key!  Why, Microsoft, why???!!!  Please just make the Administrator account a hidden "God mode" account that can do anything, and make the lives of us techies much easier in the process!
    /RANT
    Now, where did I put that XP disc?!....

    Hi,
    I explain you:
    Administrator does not mean "you get all rights to do anything." Administrator happens to be an account (or in your case, most likely the Local Administrators group) which by default is given some sensitive privileges like SeDebugPrivilege and
    similar. However, as far as the security subsystem is concerned, it is just an account. (Very much unlike root in
    Unix-like operating systems) If you aren't the owner of the key in question, and your account does not have WRITE_DAC access
    to the registry key in question, then you won't be able to change the access control list on the key in question.
    Try taking ownership first. By default, the local administrators group has SeTakeOwnershipPrivilege,
    which allows taking ownership of any object even without the WRITE_OWNER permission
    being granted by the object's discretionary access control list. Once you are the owner, you should be implicitly granted READ_CONTROL (which
    allows you to read the security descriptor on the object in question), and WRITE_DAC (which
    allows you to write to the DACL on the key in question). (Assuming the OWNER_RIGHTS SID
    isn't in use; that's extremely unlikely)

  • Access Denied Error while using Cancel Command for an Administrator.

    Hi All,
    We have created a new capability called Task Administrator which has only one permission <Permission type='TaskInstance' rights='View'/>.
    Now when a user who is assigned ONLY this capability clicks a cancel button in the end user interface (<Property name='command' value='Cancel' />), an error is thrown (Error: List access denied to Subject on type WorkItem. com.waveset.ui.util.html.Container: method setSubTitle(LJava/lang.Object;)V not found.
    We understand that the system is trying to delete the workitem created (I can see the workitem from the debug menu) which he/she does not have access. Interestingly, a normal end user without any capabilities is able to cancel this request.
    Could someone please tell me what the default access is for an end user which is taken away when a new capability is added to that user?
    We are using V5 Sp4.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
    Based on the current information, I suggest that you try the following steps:
    1. Run REGEDIT command to open the registry editor, navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{09beb4fe-6125-4757-af0f-7f487d1aa125}.
    2. Expand this node to see if there is a folder named “InprocServer32”, if there is, move to step 3.
    3. Click the “InprocServer32” folder, and double-click the “(Default)” key to check its value. It should be the path of a DLL file.
    4. Grant “Full control” to the users on this DLL file or its parent folder.
    If it doesn’t work, I suggest that you configure the Advanced Security Settings of the SQL Server installation folder, and check the “Replace child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object” option.
