Task Based UI + Workflow

Hi,
Any idea what is task based UI? Does that mean building the UI based on BPEL process flow?
Any ides? Any thoughts?

An 'Oracle HumanTask' based UI is a user interface meant to capture data required by an Oracle HumanTask, that could be part of a process implemented using BPEL. The BPEL process can have other human activities (HumanTask's) and automated activities (DB Calls, service calls, other integration and these things don't need a UI as they're not done by humans).

Can not Deploy Task Display Form[Workflow] in 11g

Hi,
I have created a human task based on the example 'VacationRequest' in the oracle complete guide for 11g.
i have also created a Task display form(workflow) for the human task, the workflow is a seperate project in the same application.
I am able to deploy the BPEL process containing the human task.
but when i try deploying the workflow associated to the BPEL process, i get the following error during deployment..

Can anyone help in this.

Can I assign a task based on information from another column?

For example:
Let's say I have a column called "Question Type" and this column has multiple checkbox choice, those being:
     Math
     Science
     History
     English
     Other
I want to allow users to be able to select multpile catagories for the question, like making one both math and science (which right now is completely possible)
I then want another column that says who the problem is assigned to. Bob is good at math, Joe at science, Jill at histroy, Jenn at English, and Billy handles everything else.
1) Is there a way that the task can be automatically assigned to my math expert Bob when I specify that the item I am adding is a math problem?
2) If I make a problem both math and science, can the task be assigned to both Bob and Joe?

According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to assign a task based on information from another column.
To assign task to multiple users, you need to:
Create a workflow and add action: Start Approval Process.
Click these user, select the Group, change One or a time(serial) to
All at onec(paralle).
Right click the action, select Properties, click ExpandGroups, change No to
Yes.
Then you can assign task to each member of the group.
I recommend to follow the steps as below to achieve what you want:
Create a custom list, add columns: Question Type(Choice); Assigned to(Person or Group).
Create a workflow associated the list.
Add conditions and action as below:
Then the task can be automatically assigned to 123 when the item is a math problem.
In addition, if you make a problem both math and science, the task can be assigned to both 456 and 789.
You can add other conditions to satisfy all the requirements.

Task locked by Workflow Builder

Hi all - hoping someone has run across this. i'm surprised I didn't find anything in the forums on this. I created a workflow, but realized I didn't name some of the task container elements in a few steps properly. So, in attempting to go into the send mail steps to rename the task container elements, I get the following:
"Task TS99900143 locked by Workflow Builder"
I'm unable to edit/rename/or even add new task container elements. However, I am able to make changes to other parts of the workflow (i.e. workflow container elements, etc).
Any idea what I need to do? I logged out, logged back in to see if it would get unlocked. I had this problem yesterday as well, so I thought maybe even overnight something would get unlocked, but that wasn't the case.

Now we've got that out the way, no this is not a bug. The sendmail step is just a 'special' step in the workflow builder that generates a regular SELFITEM.SENDTASKDESCRIPTION in background based on the info you supply. Since the WF builder maintains the task for you, it locks it so that the task and the WF builder don't get out of synch.
Aside from PFTC (be aware of sync issues mentioned above), you can of course also create a sendmail step manually by creating a task based on SELFITEM.SENDTASKDESCRIPTION. It will appear as a regular activity step and not have the mail icon, and it won't be locked. In some cases this is better because you have more control over the details.

Creating new task based om completion of previous task in R17

Hi All,
Currently in R16, the workflow of creating new task based on "When Modified Record Saved" for Activity entity is not possible.
Meaning, for ACTIVITY it is not possible to generate new task based on completion of previous one, for example.
Will it be different in R17? will it be different in the future? Or we will always need to use web service to have this functionality?

I've looked at both threads, and there simply isn't enough information for me to tell you what is wrong. Please collect a trace (instructions in General forum) and open a case with CSS. CSS can provide more in depth analysis than what a forum
post allows.

Tasks created in workflow don't get aggregated

We have the My Tasks portion working fine for aggregating tasks from our Sharepoint sites when users create the tasks inside the browser. I created a workflow to create tasks and assign them to users which seems to be working fine. The only problem is that
none of the tasks that are created during the workflow show up in the user's My Tasks aggregation page.
Search is on a continuous crawl, Work Management is using the same account as the My Site application pool and tasks appear in the My Tasks page if users go through SP and create the tasks, so I know Work Management is working.
I have tried running the workflow in regular mode and in an app step but I still don't see them aggregated. I can go to the workflow list and see all the tasks created and I've even waited 24 hours, but they never show up.
Anyone ever create tasks inside a workflow and have them show up in your My Tasks?

Based on your description, my understanding is that none of the tasks that are created during the workflow show up in the My Tasks aggregation page.
When a user created a workflow, here is a choice of Task List and History List.
Choosing a task list and updating the workflow to stores the tasks, compare the results.

Task based UI (Guided Procedure) in SAP CRM 7.0

I am trying to build a Task Based UI in SAP CRM 7.0. I followed the steps which SAP mentions but unfortunately i can't get it work.I am a functional consultant and so its quite possible that might have missed something critical
This is the sequence of steps i followed
Step 1 - Create new BSP component
2 - Created 3 custom views
3 - Created a "Guided Maintenance Page"
4 - According to SAP documentation/material - when i open the view/page created in step 3 i would be able to see the views i created in Step 2 and i can choose the views ( and the sequence) i want to use in the guided procedure.
But unfortunately in Step 3 - i don't see any of the views i created in "Step 2" .
So just wondering what i have missed and why the guided procedure is not working.

Thanks a lot for your reply.
In your reply you have mentioned that - "As far as I know , if you use the guided maintainence procedure , at the top you can see the number of custom views added in the component , in your case you will be able to see them as 1, 2 and 3"
The issue I am encountering is that I don't see the (any) custom view in my guided procedure.
I don't see any of the the custom views 1,2 or 3 listed in the top half of the page. All i see is a table with no entries in it.
So i am wondering if i have missed out any important step in guided procedure( task based UI) creation process.

How to change an already saved TASK in a workflow?

Can somebody tell me how to change the TASK of a workflow to "CHANGE" mode, after it's been saved? Here, I find that once I create and save a task, I am unable to edit it.

Hi Max,
what version are you on, I remember that using SWDD for workflow modeling is not advised for 4.6c or older versions. I even heard of workflows disappearing and other strange stuff. It's advised to use PFTC for it.

How to use Start Task Group for Workflow Interface

anyone who can tell me how to use the Interface IFWFTSKGRP (Start Task Group for Workflow Interface)?
As far as I understood the documentation it can be used to restrict the selection of workflows that can be started in the Generic Object Services. But the question is how to implement it.

(probably it's a bit too late to post an answer after 3 years , but I'll post it in case someone else needs it)
You should implement GetTaskGroup method.
The code should return id of the task group (otype TG, mantained in PFTC) that holds the list of workflow definitions.
Here is a sample implementation. It's taken from FORMABSENC business object. It belongs to SAP demo workflow "Notification of Absence". I suppose it should be present in most systems and you can see it in action.
begin_method gettaskgroup changing container.
DATA: taskgroup LIKE rhobjects-object.
*- set task group
taskgroup = 'TG70000023'.
*- set result
swc_set_element container result taskgroup.
end_method.

Trigger a process task based on Lookup Value

We have a requirement like for one of the custom adaptors,we have
The Process form has the below five attributes
i)First Name----(String)
ii)Last Name----(String)
iii)Location----(Lookup)
iv)Address----(String)
V)Mobile-----(String)
The attribute Location is a lookup Field.
in Location we have
Code Decode
Chennai Chennai
Bangalore Bangalore
Delhi Delhi
Mumbai Mumbai
NOw if i select chennai in the location lookup.I want to trigger a seperate task from process definition.
How can this be achieved?

you can't achieve dynamicly using process task.
if the value of that lookup is limited and known then you can design like below(Static)
1. create a process task adapter which takes one string input(location) and return the same. update response for each location values
2. create task called Location updated or if this task is there for update location value in target system then leave as it is
3. create a new condiional task "call task based on location" . attach newly created adapter. pass location attribute as input and map return value with response code.
finally attach this task on the success response of "Location Updated" task
4. now you have response for all location . so attach respective task on each response.
Note: if there is no Location Updated task present then create "Location Updated " task and directly attach above adapter on this task.

I have created context attributes 'City' & 'Role' in WD, hence in BPM, ruleset was created with Context -'http://sap.com/wd_dc/RoleChekComponent' as Return Type & Parameters. While creating decission table, "City" as condition, and "Role" as action selected.
In decission table, feed the values like for city to role like "NewYork", "role1" ; "Chicago", "role2" and so on. Hence Rule was created. while I am trying to pass City name to Ruleset function in Task level to fetch corresponding Role name, getting below error. This is because of I have seleted context as Return Type & Parametes while creating Rule.
Function 'roleChecking' has incompatible parameter #1. Expected 'Context', but found 'xsd:string'
If I pass context to function getting below error -
Function 'CheckRole_Ruleset' has incompatible parameter #1. Expected 'Context', but found 'Context'
How to fix the problem.. Highly appreciated your suggestions and inputs..

Retracting task in process workflow

Hi experts,
I'm currently working on how to retracting task in specific workflow.The situation is like this:
User A initiates form then assign it to user B (task B). User B completes (task B) then assigns to user C (task C).
In case user B forgets some details, he wants to retract the form from user C so that he can edit form and resubmit it.
What i can think of is to create a separate process and use a custom component to reset the status of this process.
From what i observe, before and after completing task B, there are changes in tb_task, tb_job_instance and tb_branch_instance (if you think there can be changes in other tables, please let me know, thank you).
I have tried to delete task C in tb_task, set task B's status from COMPLETE (100)to RUNNING(3) and it's complete time to null. User B can see the task but after complete, it never appear in user C's task.
I realized that after task B is completed, its associated job in tb_job_instance is deleted and task C and its job are created.
Is there anyway I can create a job in tb_job_instance to link with current process, so that after user B complete the task, the form is routed to user C.

Now i'm trying to build a custom component to invoke the Retract route. Currently the task is assigned to user A.
but i don't have the password of user A. When I use Administrator account to invoke taskmanager.completeTask(204,"Retract"), I have this error:
com.adobe.idp.taskmanager.dsc.client.task.TaskPermissionException:
User: 43296024-F721-D137-5FDF-D01FF8A70682 is not assigned task: 204. The task cannot be completed
Is there any way I can complete the task without knowing A's password ?

4 tiered security vs. task based security design

I have recently joined a company that has only FICO implemented. They are currently ramping up to implement all modules globally.
The current security model is 4 tiered security approach, in other words, there are 4 single roles which are roled up into a composite depending on what your position is in the hierarch. For example, an end user AP Clerk will get the basic role and probably one other. The AP clerks boss would get those 2 roles plus one other role and so on. Because the security is not very granular, they have a huge amount of mitigating controls in GRC to pass the yearly audits.
Most companies I have worked at are changing to a task based security approach to make the security more granular and therefore easier to manage and manipulate (for want of a better word) and possibly eliminate having to create and maintain a huge number of mitigating controls. Task single roles would be added to a composite per job position.
My question is, which version would be the SAP best practice approach? The 4 tiered approach is easier up front but a lot more maintenance going forward. The task based approach is a lot of work up front but less maintenance going forward.
No matter what road we take, there may also be derived roles thrown into the mix!

The welcome page is public available since it does not have appropriate PageDef file.
Login page comes not from the welcome page, it comes after attempt to access the test page. So after the login succeeded the test page appears, because redirect to welcome page after successful login is not configured. I do not need to return the welcome page at this moment, I need to go to the test page.
It seems the task flow call stack to be destroyed after redirect to login page.
