TCS4 on Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit
I did a clean install of Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit on my workstation. Then I did a clean install of Adobe TCS4. When I want to enter my Serial Number I receive the following message:
Serial Number you povided is valid, but a qualifying product could not be found on this computer.
To use this serial number, you must own one of these qualifying products. Please choose the one you own and enter its serial number.
When I select Adobe FrameMaker 11 from the dropdown and enter the TCS4 Serial Number I receive the following message:
This serial number is not for a qualifying product. Please try another.
Any suggestions?
What did Adobe support say? Installation help/support is free.

Unable to install Windows 8.1 pro 64 bit on my HP Pavilion g6 1318ax
Hello,
I have Windows 8.1 pro OS on my machine but that's 32 bit. I am trying to install 64 bit of the same but it says "This app can't run on your PC". The machine I am using is Pavilion g6 1318ax.
Please advise.
Thanks in anticipation.
Regards,
DevHi:
You have to boot from the 64 bit installation media and do a clean (custom) install.
It will not run from a 32 bit Windows desktop.
No 64 bit operating system will.
In other words, you can't upgrade from a 32 bit to a 64 bit operating system, and retain your programs and files.
So back up any files you don't want to lose. -
Windows 7 professional 64 Bit on MacBook Pro Retina 15 with Boot Camp ?
Hallo guys, i have a big problem with installing Windows 7 professional 64 Bit on my MacBook Pro Retina 15 with Boot Camp. No matter what i try i get a black screen after partitioning or get a message like " No bootable disk" or " No System Disk availabe".
My Mac has : OS X version 10.8.2, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB memory, 2.6 GHz Intel i7 and is only a week old
My Boot Camp is version 5.0.1
My Windows InstallingDVD is one year old now, i needed it to build a PC last year, hope that doesnt make a difference, its a full version, so not just for upgrading.
From what i saw in the apple support it should work on my macbook. I hope someone can help me.
Thanks in advance.Ok, problem solved. I looked a bit more here in the questions and there was the answer and its quite simple.
Somehow an USB-stick makes problems while Windows wants to install, i dont know why. So i just made everything over DVDs and now everything works fine. -

Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that your HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909g, does not save a scanned PDF file on Windows 8.1 64 bit. I am sorry to hear this, but happy to help!
To verify the printer's hardware is functional, are you able to make copies from the scanner glass? Copying a Multipage Original.
In the meantime, please try our HP Print and Scan Doctor, and let me know the results!

Windows 8.1 Pro Bitlocker AES 256-bit cypher question
Hi, all
Have an odd situation I cannot make any sense of. I have a desktop PC running Windows 8.1 Pro. I launched gpedit.msc and changed Bitlocker’s cypher strength from the default AES 128-bit to AES 256-bit.
I then connected a brand new Western Digital 4TB external drive (model WDBFJK0040HBK-04) to the PC via USB 3.0, and Bitlocker-encrypted the drive. Opened a command prompt window as administrator, ran “manage-bde –status” for the drive in question,
which indicated the drive was encrypted with the 128 bit cypher strength, instead of 256 bits, as I had selected. Have unencrypted, rebooted and re-encrypted the drive time and again, always with the same results.
When connecting the same external 4TB drive to a Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials in which I had made the exact same changes via gpedit.msc,
I can encrypt it with the 256-bit cypher strength, with no problems.
No TPM is used in either scenario, just a passphrase.
Anyone has any idea why my 256-bit setting is being ignored in the Windows 8.1 Pro machine?
Thanks
Arsene
ArseneLWell, running rsop.msc in my Server 2012 R2 machine does show my 256-bit bitlocker setting took, however, running rsop.msc in my Win 8.1 Pro machine shows it did not, which explains the problem I am having.
Now all I have to do is find out why my request is not taking, even though I am logged in as an admin.
Thanks!!

Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit from Dreamspark
I downloaded Windows 8.1 Pro from Dreamspark and it installs fine.
I need the 64 bit version instead though, but didn't get the option to install it.
My machine is a 2 processor, quad core Xeon with 8GB RAM.
How do I install the 64 bit version? It was installed on a blank disk.
NickWhen you opened the .dmx file in the download manager for your order, there should be two versions of Windows, both 32bit and 64bit.
If you have lost the .dmx file then login to DreamSpark and
go to Your Account/Orders and
find your Windows 8.1 order. Click on
it and in the next page click Start Download
as usually.
After the download finished, open up the .dmx file and
download the correct Windows image. For 32bit the correct image would have a name en_windows_8_1_x86_dvd... .iso
and for 64bit en_windows_8_1_x64_dvd... .iso.
Burn the correct image on an empty DVD
and then you're ready for a clean install.
Hope this helps.
P.S. Don't worry about the license key, it's the same for both editions.
EDIT: here's a screenshot from the download manager. -
Windows 8.1 64-bit driver for Coprocessor on Mid 2009 Macbook Pro 5,4
I have successfully installed Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit onto my Mid 2009 Macbook Pro 5,4. The installer from BootCamp 5.0.533.5033 would not run, but I installed one-by-one the files under Apple and then ran the 64-bit nVidia installlers. I have everything present and accounted for except for the 'Coprocessor.'
I have looked through the forums and everything seems to indicated that if you install the nVidia drivers it will install the driver for this but it doesn't. Any thoughts/suggestions/solutions?For anyone who will find this post in the future, the Device Manager indicates that the 'Device Instance Path' is
pci co-processor pci\ven_10de&dev_0aa3&subsys_cb7910de&rev_b1\3&21436425&0&1d
Searching for that online, it appears that this is the nVidia MCP79 Co processor System.
This driver did not install with version 306.37 that came with the BootCamp drivers. I downloaded the current version from nVidia of 334.89 and that didn't work either. I searched online and found a driver for an Alienware 17x that uses the same co processor and ran the installer which extracted the files for the nVidia chipset v. 15.57 for 64-bit Windows 7 and Vista to c:\dell\drivers\R273039 and pointed the Device Manager to this folder and it was able to successfully install the driver software for the Management Controller (drivers are listed under the SMU folder for the "PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0AA3" device).
NVIDIA nForce System Management Controller
I then proceeded to use Double Driver to backup the drivers in use by the system so that if I install Windows 8 on future systems I can use this rather than the round-about way of getting the driver installed on the system. -
Corrupt SPLDR.SYS Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit won't boot
Hi!
I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit full Norwegian version bought at a local store. My PC consists of:
MB: Asrock Z97 Extreme4
Proc.: Intel i7 4790
RAM: 4 x 8 GB Crucial Ballistix Sport 1866Mhz 10CL
Video: Gainward GeForce GTX 770 4GB
SSD: Kingston HyperX SH100S3 240GB (system disk)
RAID5: 3 x Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB + 1 x Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 1TB(configured using Intel RAID BIOS utility - only used for user files)
Optical: Lite-On IHOS104-37 + LG BD-R BH10
eSATA: Samsung Story Station Plus 1.5 TB (This had to be set as internal SATA drive in UEFI otherwise it refuses to wake up form sleep)
1394a: Lycom PCI-E PE-101
PS: Corsair HX750W
The optical drives are connected to the onboard ASMedia ASM1061 controller, the others to connectors controlled by the Intel Z97 chipset. I also have an M-AUDIO Firewire Solo external sound card connected to the 1394a expansion card. This is powered
by the Firewire bus and is occasionally a little "tricky". I believe it's because there is no driver available for Win 8 so I had to use the one for Win 7 64-bit.
This rig was set up about a month ago and has worked without any
serious problems except that I sometimes experience that the eSATA drive doesn't always wake from sleep.
All suggested updates has been installed.
My issue is this:
2 days ago I was installing a Silverlight
plug-in for Mozilla when I got a message that the installation routine couldn't update the registry and then the system
froze. After rebooting,
I was informed that Windows had become
corrupt. Attempting to run the
repair routine was no use - I just got
a message that Windows couldn't undertake
the repair. I suspected problems
with the system disk and started the
command prompt using the installation DVD.
It turned out that the C drive suddenly
had becomeE drive. The RAID "disk" showed up under the command prompt as C:\.
I ran bootrec (Sorry, I can't remember what parameter I used)
that reported that some errors were
repaired but that it couldn't repair everything.
Then I ran sfc offline.
In the srttrail.txt log file (that was written to the correct path on the E drive) I see that
SPLDR.SYS is corrupt and attempt
to repair failed (error code 0x2
and 0x490).
I was advised by a support engineer on the Microsoft Community forum to try and run chkdsk /p - which turned out to be an invalid parameter - and chkdsk /r which reported that everything was OK.
The support engineer suggested that I should perform a system restore from WindowsRE. This is what happened:
At first there seemed to be only one restore point available dated two days earlier but when I looked for more restore points there were 4 alltogether the oldest one dated 14 days earlier. I klicked the button "Look for the
affected programs" (or something like that - I've translated this from the Norwegian version I use.) and there were listed a lot of programs and utilities that had been installed on this disk before but not as long as it had been in
this rig! (I used this SSD as system disk in another PC earlier.) This is strange: when I installed the disk in my new rig I chose to repartition it and as far as I know that means that old data is erased. OK, I chose the newest restore point anyway
and klicked Next. In the following dialog there was a yellow exclamation mark and a list of two drives. Both drives were called Local drive (C:), the first one with (System) as well. Under Status on this first one it said "You
must enable system protection on this drive." Status of the second one was "Cannot find the drive" (Again translated from the Norwegian version.) The checkbox to the left
of both of the listings were greyed out and because I couldn't choose any of them, the Next-button was grayed out as well.
As I mentioned before the drives have chanched letters. When I use old DOS commands from the command prompt and switch from the X: drive (which seems to be the Windows installation DVD) to C: it shows the RAID I mentioned before. Likewise, the
system disk (i.e. the SSD I'm having trouble with) is now D:. And that sort of explains why the system recovery can't find the drive... But it doesn't explain why the old programs show up in the new restore points... (I've checked that the SSD
still is set to be boot disk in UEFI.)
The support engineer suggested that I post my query on the TechNet forum.
Do you have any suggestions what to do?
I'm a little nervous considering what could happen
with the files on the data disk if I make a mistake... :-)
Regards,
Morten EricsonHi!
Please read both this reply and the next one in conjunction.
I've done some research on my own after following your advices (Please look at my last reply below.).
First of all: bootrec /scanos does not report any Windows installations.
Running bcdedit /enum reports:
Windows Boot Manager
identifier: {bootmgr}
device: partition=D:
path: \bootmgr
description: Windows Boot Manager
locale: nb-NO
default: {default}
displayorder: {default}
timeout: 30
Windows Boot Loader
identifier: {default}
device: partition=D:
path: \Windows\system32\winload.exe
description: Windows 7 Ultimate
locale: nb-NO
recoverysequence: {db9ccd8a-43de-11e4-85a8-8169ad6c7c9f}
recoveryenabled: Yes
osdevice: partition=D:
systemroot: \Windows
bootmenupolicy: Standard
I must admit that I don't know how these things go together but there are a few things that makes me wonder:
First of all this has to be the reason why Windows 7 Ultimate comes up as the only option when I try to run System Restore. But is it really a Windows 7 installation? A lot of the files (logs and so on) in the Windows folder and subfolders are dated
mid August when I installed Windows 8.1. I just wonder...
I've been googling a bit about system installation and recovery and I read somewhere that there are some special precautions when installing Windows on a UEFI-based system. I can not remember that there were any options or warnings about that when
I installed Windows 8.1 on my system. But I belive I saw somewhere that a UEFI-based installation creates other partitions than an installation on an ordinary BIOS based system. The fact that the SSD has been used in a BIOS based system with Windows
7 Ultimate before explains in my mind why there is no reserved partition.
BTW: I don't know if this is important but the strings that were reported by the bootsect command were {e59cd65f-170a-42c4-927d-8ce8a94989a3} for the C:-disk and {cf240c96-43dc-11e4-85a8-806e6f6e6963} for the D:-disk.

The toshiba thinkpad should have builtin software to update drivers and software packages etc.
You can also look at this site, it might help you.

I had creative cloud installed in a parallels deskto virtual machine on my mac, I delete the virtual machine without deactivate the creative cloud. after reinstall a new VM running windows 8.1. pro 64 bits, I downloaded the creative cloud installer but it does not install ang give an Error code 72, it is assuming that I already are using the Creative cloud in 2 computer, but itis no the case, how to solve this situation?
Dave: I did the Microsoft Update two days before this happened, and rebooted as required. I just created a new restore point and lauched Creative Cloud. Now I get the famous white screen:
It just sits and spins (been 10 minutes now).
Fortunately, I saved away this command (which I've had to use 4 or 5 times already):
del %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE\opm.db
Unfortunately now, I get this (even after closing the above window):
The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
So I killed everything that said "Adobe" in the task manager and this time, the command succeeded.
Fortunately, the current apps seem to still work. I can't seem to find the "Creative Cloud" app in the applications on my system, but I launched Photoshop CC, told it to look for updates, and got a list of the 5 prgorams that need updates in the Adobe Application manager:
I will proceed with the updates, holding my breath. -
Operating System change from Windows 7 to windows 8.1 pro 64 bit
I have HP Pavilion Dv6-6196ex with Windows 7 64 bit as original OS. I change my hard drive to 256 mb SSD and installed new OS windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit. Is there any suitable software coming from HP that is compatible to my new OS and can i get a recovery manager from HP and installed it on my new OS?
Sorry, but HP is only supporting and providing drivers for Windows 7 for this model on the HP Pavilion dv6-6196ex Entertainment Notebook PC Drivers page. The only purpose of the HP Recovery Manager is to return the computer to its original factory state. Becasue your computer shipped with Windows 7, the HP Recovery Manager would only restore Windows 7 and not the currently installed OS.
Please see HP Forun thread entitled "8.1 recovery discs" for more information on this subject. My suggestion is to use Windows "System Image Backup" utility to create an exact image of the Windows 8.1 partition as it currently is, on an external hard drive. If your computer developes issues or you need to replace the hard drive, all you have to do is "restore" the image to the computer. Please see Windows 8.1 Tip: Use System Image Backup for instructions on creating and restoring a "Windows - System Image Backup."

I have an Envy X2 11-g001tu (Australia) on which I am currently running Windows 8 Pro 32 bit which is very stable. I have tried to upgrade it a couple of times to 8.1 Pro 32 bit and it becomes unstable, so I have to revert, which is time consuming and inconvenient.
Since the last time I tried the drivers on the HP website have not been updated so I haven't bothered to do anything else. But tonight I was looking at the specs of the Asus Vivo Tab T810C and they are almost identical to the Envy, both running the Atom Z2760 at 1.8Ghz. The main difference was that the Asus was running 8.1 64 bit. I was told that the Atom didn't have the resources to handle 64 bit on my Envy.
Anyone care to comment on any issues upgrading to Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit?
ThanksHi Ruggers. According to HP's update advisor: HP & Windows 8.1 your Envy x2 has been successfully tested with 8.1, and instructions have been provided. Here are the Windows 8.1 drivers for your Envy x2: HP ENVY x2 11-g001tu Drivers.
The Atom Z2760 processor can use only 32-bit instruction sets, as it is a 32 bit processor. As a result it can only run 32 bit operating systems.
I hope this helps.

Installing Windows 8.1 Pro 32 bit on Lenovo H500s
I have installed a brand new (clean) 2T drive in the Lenovo H500s and I have Windows 8.1 PRO 32 bit retail disk. I'm trying to get this to install on the new drive but can't even get the unit to see the CD.
I've gone in to the BIOS and set the CDROM as the first boot divice but when the computer is turned on it doesn't seem to recognize the drive and gives me the error message "Error 1962 No operating system found".
I've tried other DVD's that are bootable but it doesn't seem to see those either. Any ideas on this?
NOTE: I need to use the 32 bit OS because I have drivers that the device manufacture won't update to 64 bit. This is a Epilog Laser Cutter so I'm not about to spend $17,000 to replace it.Hello Varadar,
I understand the scroll wheel on your mouse has stopped working correctly and you are seeking assistance. I am providing you with a link to a WikiHow document: How to Clean Gunk Off of an Optical Computer Mouse I found online that will demonstrate how to clean the mouse.

ITunesU Public Site Manager opinion input.
I know I'm pretty late to the game here, but I recently realized we needed to migrate over to the PSM in a few weeks. Originally I thought it was a new tool to manage your site (vs doing it through itunes) turns out its a completely new system. Quest
