Teststand Report Format/Stylesheet Help

Hi,
I'm having some trouble modifying the horizontal.xsl stylesheet to achieve the format I want, but as with teststand there's always many different ways to achieve the same thing I thought I'd throw it out there incase im missing the obvious.
The horizontal.xsl stylesheet produces a report which matches the structure of your sequence files. Each time you have a subsequence, the stylesheet "indents" a new table of results for that subsequence. The resulting report is great if you wish to follow the structure of the test. For my application however, I would like a single table of results regardless of how many subsequences the code has. Please see the attached files to get a clearer idea of what I am trying to achieve. The "ReportGenerated.xml" is the output from "Test.seq" using "horizontal.xsl". The "ReportWanted.html" file is a rough example of what I am trying to achieve by creating my own xsl stylesheet.
Ideally, I'm hoping I'm missing a tickbox in teststand options or something entitled "group all results into one table" lol. However, I suspect i'm not so if anybody could offer any ideas on how best to achieve this I would really appreciate it!.
Thanks,
Steve

Find the Attached image of the Horizontal.xls where I have commented the "Indent" so that it will not look like a tree Structure, try it and let me know whether it is working,
This is just an Example, you have to study XSLT and a liitle Javascript before editing the Style Sheet.
To achieve these kind of Table Structure, Fonts etc,. you have to edit the Style Sheet

    Hi,
Right click on the query results and choose properties at the bottom of the pop menu.  Uncheck the option titled "Suppress Repeated Key Values" then click okay.   Your query will update the results and you should see all characteristics now, even if they are repeated.

  • Change the HTML Report format the same as TestStand 2010 SP1 in TestStand 2012

I have a lot of test steps (~10K)  that gets executed and the indentations on HTML report format in TestStand 2012 gets too deep.  I have to slide the horizontal bar to the right to see the report when l'm in the middle.  I did not have this issue in TestStand 2010 SP1.
Is ther a way to change the HTML Report format (style) the same as TestStand 2010 SP1 in TestStand 2012?

    dexrays:
We are currently investigating this issue. In order to help us with the investigation could you post a sequence file and configuration that reproduce the problem? The configuration file is located in C:\ProgramData\National Instruments\TestStand 2012\Cfg\ModelPlugins\ResultProcessing.cfg for Windows Vista / Windows 7 or you can use the Cfg link in the TestStand 2012 installation directory.
You can use the Legacy Model Switcher (included in TestStand 2012) to use the legacy models instead of the new models. The legacy models are more backward compatible, however, this also means that you will not be able to use the improvements in the new models (for example, the new plug-in architecture). If this is acceptable then you can use the legacy model switcher to switch to the legacy models. The Legacy Model Switcher is located in the Start Menu under Programs->National Instruments->TestStand 2012->Tools->Compatibility. For more information on Legacy Model Switcher please read the online help.
Thanks for your report and for your help with diagnosing this issue.

  • Remove ATML Report Format from TestStand

    Hi!
It is possible to remove the ATML Report Format from TestStand (or TestExecutive) ?
I already tried to remove the folder <teststand>/Components/Models/TestStandModels/ATML
and then restarted the TestExecutive, but the option from the checkBox was still there...
Is there any way arround without changing the source code?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You can’t remove the ATM from the report options pop up easily, but you can ignore it easily and reset it to something else.
Add the ReportOptions callback to your sequence file.
Then check Parameters.ReportOptions.ReportStyle for the string “ATML” and over ride it to what you wish.
There may to one or two other settings you may have to check, but I would have to set up a trial to test them out.You should be able to find any others by single stepping through the report generation seq.
I do this all the time for just about all the report and data logging options making sure they are set to the format we want and have not been set to something we do not want.  The operator can play around with the settings but they have no effect on the report file because I force them to be what I want them to be.

  • Help on report formatting

    Hi all,
Ok dumb question but I am going to ask anyway.....
I have a report that I want to break on emp supv so that each supv gets a separate page of their emps....
is there a way to make my report break to a new page or a new block so that when I export to excel I can break.
The report currenlty lists the supv then emp details then a new supv then emp details but there are no gaps in the report ( i.e. separation to a new page, line break etc)
Currently we do not have printing setup in Apex to use pdf, etc and I have asked Dba to set it up. If I export the report to excel, while supv is grouped with their list of emps, there are no breaks and in excel I will have to manipulate to provide each supv their list.
...I am trying to provide an easy way for user to print each supv to their own page prior to print server config being installed inside of apex - is this even possible?
I have been to the column breaks portion on report formatting of my report app and all I can see is to break by columns 1, 2 ,3 or all three but no way to tell it to separate.
    Regards

You can't really do a page break in an excel file download. You would have to go into Excel and do the formatting to do that..

  • Report multiple failures with TestStand reporting

I'm pretty new to TestStand so please bear with me. I'm using LabView to test a connector on a digital interface board. So I'm reading and writing dig. signals on say 15 pins in a test. I'm using TestStand to run my VI's. When a test fails TestStand seems to only report one measurement at a time. I want all of the pins that failed to show up in the TestStand report in a format like :
    InputPin:A1 OutputPin:B1 Expected:0 Read:1
    InputPin:a2 outpuPIn:b1 expected:1 read:0
I tried using the ReportText section of the TestData Cluster but I couldn't format it properly. All of the data sort of runs into each other like this
    input:a1 output:b1 expect:0 read:1 input:a2 output:b2
the carriage returns I tried to put in were i
    gnored.
Does anybody know how I can report a lot of failures in one report. I hope I explained properly. Thanks

    Hi,
Find attached an example using the MultipleNumericLimitTest step type.
All it does is use the array found in Locals call Digital as the DataSource for the Limits. You can check this by selecting the step and doing a right mouse click - select Edit Limits. Then select the Data source Tab. I have add 16 Measurements, one for each of the array elements.
This will give a you a result of each element of the array in the report for that step. But by default it will look like:
    Measurement[0] (Measurement 0):
    Limits:
    Low: 0b1
    Comparison Type: EQ (==)
    Data: 0b0
    Status: Failed
To get the format you require will mean modifying the report sequence file.
    Hope this helps a bit

  • How do i output a table in a teststand report

I'm using TestStand 3.0 and Labview 7.0. I have a string table in my labview step that i want to see in the teststand report. How do i do this? thanks

    Hello, J.Venkatesh!
In the future, we'd really appreciate it if you'd create new forum threads for new questions - this allows us to better manage the forums and gives our users the ability to search for questions by forum thread/topic!
That being said, the solution provided by Matt P. in 2004 still applies to you.  Even though you're using a TestStand XML report and a LabVIEW Array instead of a LabVIEW table, you can still embed HTML tags into the XML report.  Simply index into and parse your LabVIEW array into strings, include the appropriate HTML table tags and then pass this HTML string back to TestStand.  This string can then be placed into the Step.Result.ReportText field of any step and will be formatted into a table, as you desire.
Modifying Matt's LabVIEW VI is as simple as replacing the LabVIEW table with a LabVIEW array and then using a Number to Decimal String.vi in order to cast the numbers as strings - those are the only modifications you need to make!
    I hope this helps!

  • Additional Results - ASCII Report Format

    Hello All,
When using "Additional Results", and having an ASCII Report Format, how do you increase the "Name" beyond 26 characters?
Its like there are 2 invisible columns, to accomodate for "Name" and "Value to log", but you can only use a 26 character Name, before you enter the second column.
    Any ideas?

    Hey kalachnik,
This can be done, but it might take a bit of modification.
The first thing I did was add the ReportOptions callback to my sequence file. In that callback, I added a Statement step with the following expression: Parameters.ReportOptions.LabelSize = 60    . This allows names up to 60 characters long in the results.
However, the downside to this is that the Value to Log of the additional results will no longer line up with the result of normal steps, such as an Action step. Since this makes the report difficult to understand, we should probably increase the space between the name and value columns for all report results. That will require modifying the report generation sequence.
    1) Go to Configure > Result Processing, click the Options button for the report, and on the Contents tab, set the report generator to Sequence instead of DLL. This allows us to make changes in a TestStand sequence file to affect the report generation.
    2) Navigate to <TestStand>\Components\Models\TestStand Models and open reportgen_txt.seq. This is the sequence file which controls ASCII report generation. Find the sequence called PutOneResultInReport_lmpl. This sequence puts a single result line into the report.
    3) One of the steps is "Get Gap String", and it has a statement of the following form: Locals.GapBetweenNameAndResult = Locals.StepNameLength >= 30 ? " " : Left("                               ", 30 - Locals.StepNameLength). This statement indents the result by 31 spaces if the step name is longer than 30 characters, or by 30-(length of step name) if the name is shorter than 30 characters. We need to change those thresholds.
    4) Set the expression to the following: Locals.GapBetweenNameAndResult = Locals.StepNameLength >= 60 ? " " : Left("                                                             ", 60 - Locals.StepNameLength).  I changed both instances of "30" to "60", and changed the blank string from 31 spaces to 61. This will cause the results to be indented further, which makes the Name column wider on the report.
This should do it, and of course you can tweak the actual values for your specific needs. You might also consider using one of the other report formats, such as XML or ATML. These formats are a bit more dynamic and can more easily handle longer names. I hope it helps, and let us know if you have any more questions about it!

  • Teststand Report generation doc

    Hi Guys,
I'm looking into TestStand reports right now, but I have to admit that I'm a little bit lost...
I would like to get an easy "manual" on how to edit the reports so I can get my own formating in the report...
For example, I would like to present my test results like this
Description of test (name)    ||    Low limit    ||   Measurement    ||     High Limit     ||    Pass/Fail.
This would be the case for every test step.
Also , I would like to have a customized header with a logo, and some additional Information like operator name, SN, etc
A solution I was thinking about was to send all my data back in LabVIEW and generate the report from there, which is quite easy... I found a way to get back part of my data, but unfortunately, the NumericLimitTest steps don' return the Result... (the function I used is on this page http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=330&message.id=1311&requireLogin=False) >> TestStand-Labview-Resultlist.vi is the one I used.
Could you help me on this?
    Thanks a lot
    Matthieu

    Hi Matthieu,
Here is a Developer Zone article that should help get your starting with understanding how report generation works: Report Generation Explained .
See the following knowledge base article for information about logging data of a step: How do I Modify a Step Type to Log Data into a Report?
If you are using an HTML report, please see the following knowledge base article for information about how to customize your header information: Modifying HTML Report Headers to Include Custom Information in TestStand .
This should get you started with reporting in TestStand.  I think that you will find that TestStand is better suited for reporting as you become more familiar with it.

  • Tree-browser for TestStand Report?

The HTML report format is very inconvenient for browsing a long sequence, especially one with lots of nested sub-sequence calls. There is an article detailing how you can modify the report text sequence to at least put links at the top to more of the failures. This is much better than the default, first-failure report, but it still doesn't seem to link to all of the leaf-node failures).
This is crying for a tree-style browser (ala the Windows File Explorer) where failures on low-level leaf nodes are noted with colors or symbols on the parent-level containers. Clicking on containers exposes the lower level de
    tails....
Has anyone seen or done something like this for TestStand?

Try using this "expand.xsl" Stylesheet to see if it is that for which you are looking. Please give feedback for additional features, etc.

    Hello Chinasammy,
Report Painter allows you to create reports using data from SAP application components, which you can adapt to meet your individual requirements.
Many of your reporting requirements can already be met by using the standard reports provided by various SAP application components. If these SAP standard reports do not meet your reporting needs, Report Painter enables you to define your specific reports quickly and easily.
When executing a Report Painter report, it is displayed by the system in Report Writer format. You thus have access to the same functions as for Report Writer reports defined in the same way, and can combine Report Painter and Report Writer reports together in a report group.
Report Painter uses a graphical report structure, which forms the basis for your report definition and displays the rows and columns as they appear in the final report output.
To facilitate report definition, you can use many of the standard reporting objects provided by SAP (such as libraries, row/column models, and standard layouts) in your own specific reports. When you define a Report Painter report you can use groups (sets). You can also enter characteristic values directly.
    Advantages of Report Painter include:
    Flexible and simple report definition
    Report definition without using sets
Direct layout control: The rows and columns are displayed in the report definition as they appear in the final report output, making test runs unnecessary.
    =============================================
Below mentioned is the process for creating reports using Report Painter as a tool.
Selecting and maintaining a library for your report: As the transfer structure to Report Painter you use a report table, which is defaulted by SAP and can not be maintained. This table contains characteristics, key figures and predefined columns. In a library, you collect the characteristics, key figures, and predefined columns from the report table, which you need for your Report Painter reports.
When you define a Report Painter report, you assign it to a library. Reports assigned to one library can only use the characteristics, key figures, and predefined columns selected for that library.
When you create or maintain a library, the Position field determines the sequence in which the characteristics, key figures or (predefined) key figures appear in the Report Painter selection lists when you define a report. This allows you to position the objects that you use regularly in your reports at the beginning of the selection lists. If you do not make an entry in the Position field, you will not be able to use this object in Report Painter reports.
You can use either the standard SAP libraries for your reports or define your own.
(ii) Selecting or maintaining a standard layout for your report: Standard layouts determine report layout features and the format of your report data.If the SAP standard layouts do not meet your reporting requirements, you can create a new  standard layout or change an existing one.
(iii) Defining row and column models: A model is a one-dimensional, predefined reporting structure that you can insert in either the rows or columns of your report. If you often use the same or similar row or column definitions in your reports, it is recommended that you create row or column models.
You must define the row and/or column models that you want to include in your report definition before you define the report.
You can also use the standard column models supplied by SAP.
(iv) Defining the report: Defining a Report Painter report involves the following steps.
    (a) Define the report columns: You define the report columns using the characteristics, key figures, and predefined columns selected for the library that the report uses. Alternatively, you can use a column model for column definition. Column models are predefined column structures which you insert into your entire column definition, instead of defining each individual column.
    (b) Define the report rows: You define the report rows using the characteristics selected for the library selected for the report.
Alternatively, you can use a row model for your row definition. Row models serve the same purpose as column models, but are used to define a report row.
Edit and format the report rows and columns in line with your requirements. (For example, you can hide rows or columns, define the column width or define colors for your report rows).
(iii)Define general data selection criteria for the selection of your report data: Selection criteria are the characteristics used to select data for the entire report. You cannot enter characteristics as data selection criteria if they are already being used in the report rows or columns.
(iv) Assigning the report to a report group: Once you have defined a report, you must assign it to a report group. A report group can contain one or more reports from the same library. However, reports that share the same data will select data more quickly and improve processing time.
Hopw this helps you. Please let me know if you need anything more and assign points.

  • The report format is:

    The report format is:
    <filename> <phase> <return code where appropriate>
here what is phase and return code where appropriate?
    thanks
    with regards

If you are talking about using the Report Generation Toolkit, the report format for Word reports is .doc format, and for Excel spreadsheets is .xls format.  These are binary files whose format is proprietary to Microsoft.  If you're talking about an HTML report, obviously the generated file is a .html file that is viewable in a standard text editor.  And for Standard Reports, there is no file generation (they get sent straight to the printer).
