Text doesn't display in flash

my flash movies work fine on every computer i have tested
(about 10 both macs and pc's) but i have found one where the flash
movies play (images and animation appear fine) but the text (static
text) doesn't display at all! there is also no streaming video. the
audio works just fine but the video is not there. is this an
internet options configuration problem with this one machine or is
this a bigger problem that is going to bite me in the butt when i
launch my site.
also- do any of you know of any beta testing services that
will test my site on lots of different machines with different
configurations so that i can feel confident that my site is robust
enough for a lot of users?

The text - even static/non-animating text - is not appearing
on some peoples browsers. Not only that, but it also doesn't appear
in my client's Contribute program - f'in' wierd!

Cp5 - Text Entry Box - Fill Alpha =0 Text doesn't display

In previous versions I was able to select a trans background for text entry boxes. They've created a Fill and Stroke option where I can select Fill Alpha=0 (tranparent) but when I select that, the text doesn't display in the text box when I type, as it did in the previous version. When I go to the style editor, the preview displays correctly. My text colour is black and the image is white.

Cpt 5 - Quiz Answer Text Doesn't Display

Situation: I've created a course with mutliple lessons. At the end of each lesson I use quiz pages to ask knowledge recall questions. These are scored but given a value of 0 points.
At the end of the course, I have a quiz that is scored.
Problem: On my machine, the quiz functions as it should. When I have collegues test it, the quiz answer text does not display. The check boxes and the letters display. Clicking a check box works but when CheckIT (the submit button) is clicked it provides the feedback that an answer must be given.
This page has a video on it, others do not with the same display.
I thought it might be a font issue, but when I changed it to Arial, not change. Also, why would the font affect the fucntionality (i.e., clicking a checkbox not work)?
Any thoughts?

Looks like you may have removed some of the standard elements that are required for a quiz question to function. I suggest you insert a new quiz question and this time don't remove any of the standard captions or the review area.

_sans and _serif Text Doesn't Display

Hello,
I think I might have a font problem, but don't know where to
look to find out or how to fix it.
Any static text box I create with _sans or _serif font chosen
displays no text when I run the movie. If I choose Verdana, for
example the text appears at runtime.
Any dynamic text box, regardless of font chosen doesn't
appear when I run the movie. (_sans, _serif, or Verdana)
I'm running Flash 8 Professional on a new Mac Pro Quad, Intel
Processor. Is this a common problem? Every other application seems
to run fine

These are device fonts, w/o outlines and are not always
suitable for use.
Especially when comes to text which is Masked or apply with
any color effect.

If the text is under a mask, it require font outlines.

Menu doesn't display in flash player

In DW CS5 I used the Insert Media command to embed a swf video on dravisinterests.com/advancedcarbTestSWF.htm. How do I place a menu on the flash player? I inserted the menu parameter in the code below generated by DW but it still doesn't work.

SWFs don't typically have player controls (I think that's what you're asking for). Use FLV and choose a player skin with controls.
As Ken said, Flash is a dead web technology. The list of devices that support Flash is shrinking daily because it sucks the life out of mobile batteries.
You would do yourself and your site visitors a huge favor by moving to a more modern media approach. Either HTML5 video or a combination of CSS3, HTML5 and JavaScript for animations. See Edge Animate.

CSS - main content h1 and p text doesn't display properly

Hi all,
I know this is something really simple, but I just can't seem to get it right. The h1 and the p text in the main content should have left and right padding to display properly (i.e. space on either side so it's not squished against the Accordion Spry), but it doesn't work. It shows correctly in DW, but not online. I'm just learning CSS so sorry for the ignorance! I've tried everything I know and can't seem to get it right. I would appreciate ANY help at all.

The padding and margin are certainly showing in the browser for the h1 tag but you have no padding or margin declared in your css styles for the paragraph tag in the 'main-content' <div>
Add ths to your css styles:

Set html text doesn't display all numbers

Ok, so that one is a strange.
I was playing around with the scroll event on a rectangle (not on Stage) and wanted to display the scroll value
So code looks like this :

I tested your files using Firefox 20 (beta), Opera 12.5 and Internet Explorer 10. It runs fine.
Only webkit browsers fail to return correctly sym.$("Text").html()

SVG text doesn't display correctly in Illustrator

The following SVG (generated via Cairo) displays correctly within browsers (Firefox and Safari), but not within Illustrator: the glyph symbols are drawn at the wrong scale, upside-down, and on top of one another. Is the problem within the SVG file itself? That doesn't seem likely, given that the browsers have no problem with the file. If the problem is within Illustrator... what is the root of the problem, and is there any possible workaround?

Yes, a browser displays it fine. But they also often display invalid html code fine. Your code does validate. And InkScape does open it fine. InkScape does have it in the root rather than on a layer, don't know if that is making a difference to Illustrator or not. Nothing else I have that opens SVG files deals with it as well as Illustrator.
Here is the same file, text put back and resized down a bit. Run it through validation. You'll note Illustrator does not use the MathML 2.0 extensions. Perhaps that is the hang up.

Text Doesn't Display in IE6

I have developed a dynamic website with DreamWeaver CS3 and Developer Tool Box using php and MySQL and on some dynamicaly generated pages the text above the generated table only appears when moused over. This happens in IE6, not Firefox. An example of it is at www.montrosechamber.com/categoryselect.php select a category - Advertising for instance, and click on the "View Businesses" link. The next page will not have the page title until you drag the cursor over it. Anyone have suggestions? I thought maybe the Spry navigation bar was the culprit but it happens elsewhere as well.

just checked that with several browsers, and the headline displays fine on: Firefox, IE7, and Opera 9 -- but, as you said, not on IE6.
Dunno, but could that be one of the many CSS rendering quirks on IE6 ?
BTW, when viewing the pages with Opera, the Spry Navigation bar displays "Members Benefits" and "Home" wrapped to a new line

Button's Text Doesn't Display The First Time

Hi there.
I'm new to flash, and have come across the following problem,
and can't seem to resolve it. It's really urgent that it's fixed
ASAP. Can someone help me please?
If you go to www.apollosci.co.za, the flash intro, at the
bottom. The tab's text is missing. But when you go to another page,
then go back to the flash intro page, the text shows. It's just the
first time that its gone. And of course, the first time is the
crucial part.
I have tried different routes to fix this, by changing the
character length, trying different codes in the menu.txt... but
nothing seems to work. And as I mentioned above, I'm quite new to
flash and code.
I'm using MS Front Page to upload the website.

I am also having this problem. I open the app, it runs the startup screen and then the screen goes away but nothing happens.

Po header text doesn't display on po printing?

Hi experts,
We create new po doc type. Now we found when we create po and input header text manually, it can't be previewed in po form. We check some table ,it seems T166K / xT166K doesn't include this text.
May I know for new doc type, any text config need be done? Or how to setup text with doc type ?

When I type, the text doesn't display on the screen immediately

I type rather quickly, yet lately, I've noticed, as I'm typing, it takes several seconds for the text to show up on the screen. I haven't spilled anything on my keyboard, my computer is fully charged, and I've restarted it twice. Does anyone know what's wrong or have a solution?

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Running app doesn't display unicode chars

So far, i didn't care about character encodings. When i setup a string in java i just used my special characters, like e.g. the german umlauts:
String text = "�usserlich �berhaupt nicht sch�n."; //html: Äusserlich überhaupt nicht schön Then i changed the file encoding in my IDE (eclipse) to UTF-8. The first time i reloaded my source files, i had to replace my texts by retyping my special charaters in the source. I thought that would have been enough.
But now, such text doesn't display anymore in a Swing component like a JTextField - instead the special characters are replaced by weird (sometimes multiple) other characters.
The only workaround i've found so far is, to replace all special characters in my source code with the corresp�onding unicode code character "\uxxxx" (backslash + u + 4 chars). But then this would be a step back writing text in the source code. I thought it would be easier to use Unicode ...?

This post should be under iCloud on the Mac, not icloud.com. If any moderator can move it, that would be great.

Last text block not displaying correctly after XML import.

Hi,
I have an .indd template (CS6) and script which imports XML and flows it into as many pages as it requires.
Occassionaly on the last page, the text doesn't display although it is all there and formatted correctly. Going in and out of preview mode doesn't change it.
If I click on the out port or resize the text box slightly, it displays and is fine from then on.
Any suggestions as to fixing it?

Lync 2013, text does not display in chat box. Windows 7 pc with dual monitors.

Has anyone experienced an issue with Lync 2013 where when someone sends a chat the text doesn't display in the chat box. Or on occasion when initiating a chat, the text typed in doesn't display? The person experiencing this
behavior has dual monitors and often times when she is working on a document - then goes to Lync and initiates a chat and types, the words do not display in the chat box. Her graphics drivers are current, (8.15.10.2869). At one point she was able to drag the
chat box over to the monitor on the left and then the text displayed. Since then she has received a brand new laptop, windows 7 and the Lync behavior continues but now her dragging the chat box to other monitor no longer resolve text display issue. Ideas?
