Text input options missing

Hi,
After running some updates yesterday, the "show text input options" is no longer available in the options. Neither can I select suretype when writing a message. Would appreciate some help.
Thanks
Solved!

Had to re-boot after removing an application and everything back to normal! What bugs me is that my service provider tech never brought up a re-boot but rather wanted me to delete all my data and start all over!

  • Mail Text Encoding Options Missing

For some reason, the Message -> Text Encoding pull-down menu in my Mail has only one option -- "Automatic". All other options are missing. Thus I am here seeking for help.
All the information I've found told me that I should go to the International Pref Pane, choose Language, click the Edit List button and choose the languages I want. I did so, and there are indeed several languages in the list. Still, the pull-down menu in Mail shows no options at all, only "Automatic".
Does anyone know what went wrong? Is some file corrupted in some way?
    Thanks!

I deleted com.apple.mail.plist (in fact I it them to another location so I can restore it in case things go wrong) and re-launched Mail. This time I got all the menu options that should be there. I had to re-create all the mail accounts, but the saved emails were not lost.
    Problem solved! Thanks!

  • Dynamic Stamps with Text Input Options

You guys were so helpful I thought I'd give this another go. I'm trying to create a stamp like the one used in this tutorial (http://blogs.adobe.com/acrolaw/2009/05/add_dynamic_exhibit_stamps_in_ac.html), but based off of the attached image. The tutorial is great if you want to work off of the existing file, but I can't quite figure out how to make it work for creating something from scratch. Bascially I need people to be able to input their name and date, and have it not change after it's been entered. Thanks!

Have you looked at the links to the other web sites for the more advanced tutorials?

If you want more user input you should look at 'dialog' object or AcroDialogs plug-in form Windjack Solutions.

  • BlackBerry Storm2 - Japanese Text Input Error

    Hi all,
I have to respond to emails on a regular basis in Japanese, and on my Storm2, I get an error when switching input languages. I get "Input system error. System is being restarted." and then I don't have a keyboard for a few minutes. I can pull the battery, but the next time I switch, the error is back. I've done a complete device wipe, reinstalled the OS, and tried 2 Verizon supported OS versions. Any ideas? I might switch back to my Tour just to get things done!

We saw your solution solved on the Blackberry Website:
Just passing the solution on for others who may have this similar issue.
Do this to turn off the Predictive Input option:
On the BlackBerry smartphone, go to Options> Language.
Below the Input Style setting, click the Show Text Input Options
Deselect the check mark for Predictive Input.

    Hello all,
Normally when i excute a query, it will ask for date range and year, fiscal period etc input options which i have to input to execute a given query. But  for one of the BWuser(sales guy) iam unable to see the fields, can anyone guess what cud be the problem. do you think its something to do with the BW authorization? any ideas to solve the problem are appreciated.
    Thanks

Hi, you need to force the variables to be asked.
Add &variable_screen=X at the end of the URL of the report. Check if then the values are requested.
    Hope this helps.

  • Missing Text Input In IE7

I have having an issue in IE7 on Vista where some text input
is not accepted. When I start typing, some of the characters do not
show up. I have tested this also in Firefox and it works fine.
I have narrowed the problem down to the HTML wrapper, but
cannot figure out how to fix it. When I go directly to the .swf
file, it works fine, but the HTML wrapper causes this error. Has
anyone else seen this or know how to fix it? Thank you.

I also am having difficulty with certain keys when running
flex in an HTML wrapper, I'm using it in the .Net WebBrowser
control. In that scenario , the up, down, left, right, and enter
keys do not work for Textinput fields. When I run it in IE 7
standalone, I have no problems. When embedded in a WinForm inside
of the WebBroswer control... it doesn't work so well. Not sure what
    the deal is.

  • Set top and bottom inset spacing values in Text Frame Options via jsx script

I am looking for a way to set the top and bottom inset spacing values only to 2 points in Text Frame Options via a .jsx scrpt.
For years, I have used a script that sets Preferences, such as:
    with(app.storyPreferences){
        opticalMarginAlignment = false;
        opticalMarginSize = 12;                // pts
I would like to add the code to this same script that would make Top = 0p2 and Bottom 0p2 but leave Left and Right as 0p0.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here is the full .jsx file that we now use to set preferences.
Ideally, this could be modified to include setting any text frame created to have 0p2 inset Top and Bottom, but 0p0 Left and Right:

  • Text Import Options when Placing a .DXF File

I am trying to place or even open an AutoCad .DXF file in Illustrator and keep getting a window asking for text import options.  I have read several forums and files about importing .DXF files in Illustrator and it seems that it shouldn't be that hard.  What am I missing?
    Thanks,

If you want to, email me one of your sample DXF files, and I will take a look at it. I have a a lot of experience with DXF files.

ok the new apple tv is great, the only drawback i see is text input , that is if you really want to search vimeo and youtube or setup accounts.  will there ever be the option to use an ios device to input text?

Yes. With the app you no longer need to use the bundled remote. You can turn on ATV, navigate the menus and when in YouTube the keyboard on your IOS device pops up.

  • Text input popup

I am writing a simple RSS reader app in Flex (for AIR).
I have a "change feed" button in my app. I want this to
launch a popup with text input, to take the URL as a string and

You can create such a popup with a TitleWindow and

  • Text input boxes same colour as background - so "invisible", and button text or buttons often missingt

I have turned off all addons/extensions/plugins - still the same problem:
1: Text input boxes appear to be the same colour as the background - and hence "invisible"
2: Clickable buttons on websites are often invisible, or if they display have no text; e.g. button to right of google search ("go" button?) is seen as a plain box with no text - although button is clickable.
3: Google webpage usually has an image - this is missing, and merely has "UK" to the top left of the input box.
4: On this page for example I can see directly above this text box two vertical black lines - it appears to be a button with a pop-up "insert a link" - it can obviously be clicked when I mouse over it.

    Thank you all

    Thank you
I tried that and it did not work, maybe I am missing a small
    detail.
    My code is:
    if (Pass_txt.text == "17930") {
    gotoAndPlay ("scene5",1);
now I have placed this code on the main timeline on its own
    layer.
What I am expecting is when I input the last digit of the
17930, the animation will move to the next scene.
This is a machine simulation and the input is a password.
    Thanks again for any suggestions.

  • How to Disable client side validation for the message text input

    Hi,
I have scenario where i need to by pass the client side validation for a message text input
    Scenario is
I have a message text input field(say XYZ), i set the max length for the item as 20
Now when im trying to enter the greek characters into it, it is allowing me to enter till 20 characters
But when i try to submit the form ..my client side validation is firing..
The Error says the XYZ is too long
The problem is, in greek each character takes two bytes.(In english it is only 1).While entering the content it allowing 20 characters and when validating it is checking for bytes(if we enter in greek the length will be 40 bytes not 20)
I cannot increase the max length .coz i have restrict the character length to 20 only.(english or Greek).
Please help me in this regard.
    Regards
    Sandeep.

Thanks for the information. But we dont have any option either declaratively or programatically to disable the client side validation for the message text input..I referred java docs ..i dint find any method which does..
    Correct me if im wrong

In CQ you just need to include form component and inside the form add text component. When you double click text component it will provide you with the option to add styling and specify width. Which takes precendence.  Not sure why you building the entire html page.

  • Background application for handwriting text input

    Hi,
Is it possible to have a background application running or through any other way so that my application can provide a handwriting input mode wherever iPhone takes text input through keyboard?
    All the best,
    Saad

    Hi Saad -
Legal, non-system iPhone apps can't run in the background, and no such app would have permission to read another app's input even if it could run in the background. There are some forms of communication between apps, such as registered URL's and PUSH notification, but since only one app can run at a time, there's no communication option that's close to what you're looking for. I think your idea would require the kind of tight integration used in assistive technology such as screen readers. Given the kind of security users expect from the iPhone, such a feature would need to be part of the system.
I think the library you described in your other post is most likely the best way to distribute your software. However you might also consider providing a web service. You might think of the web as the primary means of inter process communication for iPhone apps. A web service might allow developers to buy your technology on a pay-as-you-go basis instead of buying the rights to the library. Maybe that could work if you decode static info. Of course if you need a log of the touch events, you'd probably need so much processing in the client that a library would be much better... Just thinking out loud in the unlikely case any of my thoughts are useful to you. Obviously I know nothing about handwriting recognition, and I've wandered off topic. The short answer to your original question is no.
