TEXTEDIT -- 'screen font' size v. 'print font' size

Does TEXTEDIT allow documents to be viewed in a different font size than the one used for printing? --
-- i.e., e.g., is there any kind of 'zoom' feature that works strictly for the screen and is independent of printing?
I often like to print in a small size font (8 pt.) and am used to being able to do that (e.g., in MS WORD) while still viewing text on-screen in a readable font. However, when I choose 8 pt. for printing from TEXTEDIT, the screen font size shrinks too much to be readable and I haven't seen any way to make it larger without also affecting the printout.
Any cure for this?
Thanks.
(BTW, is there a better place -- i.e., discussion forum -- to ask TEXTEDIT questions?)

It doesn't appear so. Textedit is a fairly basic word processor and because of that you won't find features that are on other more elaborate apps.
I use an app. called Mariner Write for most of my main printing/word processing needs ...there are others out there as well (both free and not) - he's a site with a great selection and description of various 'word' apps...

  • Fix header/footer size to print page size

Hi, is there a way to fix the font size of the header/footer to the print page size?
Example, when printing 1 PDF in letter, but the pages are from various sized originals, I want all the headers and footers to be the same size on the final letter size printed document. Currently the header and footer changes to the original page size.
    HELP?????

CR doesn't have an option to print just one part of the page. Your only option is to hide all parts you don't want to print first.
Also, you should post your question to the Legacy Developer forum. I'll move it there for you.

  • Why ist the printed font size smaller then the choosen font size in pages

    Hi,
sorry about my english it´s a lot of years agoo i used it.
since a cuple of months i choosed a mac mini to be used as my favorit pc-system. Now i am using pages to create letters and stuff like greeting cards, posters, flyers and so on.
In this i´ll find a problem between the choosen font sizes and the printed paper.
If i choose a font and size like arial 12, and start the print job of the lettert with my Printer (Samsung 3170 MFC or Samsung 315), the size of the printed font is very smaller than the in pages choosen font (seen on the screen.
If i use MS offce it is the right size on the screen as on the printet paper.
    What do i wrong?
    Greetings from Hamburg Germany

Maybe because your document isn't displayed at 100% but at 120% on your screen.
On my iMac, to get the same size on screen and on paper, the zoom factor must be 142% which can't be done thru the available interface.

  • Print font size too small

When printing in Safari, the print size is tiny, both in email and web sites, smaller than it appears on screen. When using Internet explorer or Firefox it prints the right size. If I go to Safari edit, preferences, then appearance, and raise font size, it will print larger, but all font sizes on web pages are way big. How can I just increase the print font size. My IP is Comcast. OS is Win XP sp3.

It should print the same size. Click View -> "Make text bigger" before printing.

  • How do you change the FILE "print code" resulting printed font size?

I would like to adjust the "Print Code" resulting printed document font size. Though the changes can be made in display font for the Code window via a file or the Preferences Menu, I cannot find the style information to change the Print Code.
    Thanks

    Thanks again for your reply.
I would like the code print out font to be a smaller size. Currently, it ls printing at 12 pt Monaco ( I can emulate this exactly by printing the same document in an editor set as Monaco 12pt ).  However, the settings (see below) are set at Monanco 9pt. This works on the screen, but not for printing.
http://goo.gl/eXhnz   > screenshot of Setting show "smallest".
Yet the code:print gives me more characters per line, resulting in  many more pages per printout. The "print preview" shown in my last message is exactly what the printed page looks like as well.
NOTE: with the same settings ("smallest Monaco 9pt), Dreamweaver CS3 on OSX *does* code:print the smaller size, though without color coding. Dreamweaver CS 5 on my system does not.
    Thank you.

  • Small Printed Font Size

When I print an email or a web page the printed font size is very often much smaller than shown on my monitor.

    Hi,
There is an option in print preview to scale the page to the size that you want however there is a trade off in regards to what you'll be ableto fit on one page. The larger  you make the text, the more printed pages you end up with.
In order to fit all the text on one printed page as you see on the screen, there's an upper limitation to the size that the text can be.
I've inlcuded a screen shot of the print preview scaler below:
    I hope this helps.

  • Adobe Reader font size when printing

I am having an issue with an employee and printing from Adobe Reader.  The user is using Windows 7 Ultimate on version 11.0.07 of Adobe.  She uses a program called certified mail where she prints addresses on to certified mail forms.  The font is extremely small.   She uses an HP Laserjet 1536 printer.  I have contacted HP and they showed me the Preferences>Commenting section to change the font in Adobe from size 10 to 14 but this still didn't help her problem.  This employee can print to a different network printer and it prints the fonts larger, the way they want them to be.  This seems to be to her local 1536 printer, which is attached via USB cable.
My question is, how do I change the size of the font to make it more legible?  When she prints these forms, it pops up in Adobe to print preview.  The preview fonts are very small.  I was told to change the resolution on the printer, but that will only show the preview as larger and not the actual print.
Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

  • The print font is gigantic when printing gmails only. How do I reset the size of the font when printing a gmail message only.

Only when attempting to print a gmail does this occur, but the print size is so large that it takes 3-4 pieces of paper to print something that should be a short half page. Font must be about a 48 size.

orange Firefox button > Print -> Print Preview
Use the '''Scale''' control to change the "print" type size to what works best for you. Note that once you change the scale Firefox will remember that setting for the next use of printing.

  • Printing font size

Having problems with the print font size being extremely small. Increasing the message font size in the preferences pane will increase display font, but not the print size.

  • PRINT-CONTROL SIZE 9 COLOR BLACK FONT 5.

    HI all,
I used to get the print out from classical report. In that report we mentioned below comment.
      PRINT-CONTROL SIZE 9 COLOR BLACK FONT 5.
I donot know what size means. at same time
I am getting printout which fonts are merging for particular text. how to solve it

    Hi Lindamh,
When grayscale is set to off, then the printer will print in color. If high quality grayscale or black ink only is selected then the printer will only print in black.
Hope this clears things up for you, and have a nice day

    My code is as follows.
    PRINT-CONTROL SIZE 001 FONT 001.
Also I am using for below code for bold letters.
    PRINT-CONTROL FUNCTION: 'SABLD' LINE 1,

  • Font size when printing email messages

Having chosen a larger font for viewing email messages, is there a way to avoid printing email messages in the larger font, but rather print in the default font?

    HI RRW21,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums.   I understand that when trying to print an email from your iPad to your Deskjet 3512 that the email prints with a large-sized font.
The size of the font is controlled by the email program and its font settings.  Apple’s AirPrint feature and HP’s ePrint app don’t have the ability to modify the font.  To modify the font please ask the email sender to modify it in any future emails or forward the email to yourself and modify the font before pressing Send.  I have included Apple’s About AirPrint and the HP ePrint Mobile App FAQ documents for your reference.

  • How do you print a size 2 font document on a 4 X 6 index card?

How do you print a size 2 font document on a 4 X 6 index card?

Some printers have a print odd or even numbered pages setting. See if yours does. Do a ⌘ + P and select 'paper handling from the pull down menu to see if your printer has this feature.

  • Text Size When Printing Comments Different Than On-Screen

Hello.  We are supporting an end-user with an unusual problem.  They are able to make sticky comments fine and adjust the font size on screen.  However, when this user goes to print either to a physical printer or a PDF, the font size of the comment is different (smaller) than what is shown on screen.
    On-Screen Example:
    Print To PDF Example:
Is there an option to match the text size of the printed version to that of the on-screen?  Even if the printed text size can be bumped up just a bit, it'd be greatly appreciated.  The font size when commenting on-screen is 18 Arial but it seems like the printed version is more like 10 Ariel.
    Thank you.

Just tried the latest version of Adobe Reader and the same issue occurs.  Making the on-screen font size 70 in the Commenting Preferences field makes NO CHANGE when printed (comes out at about 10 / 12 point font).  Even the Print Preview doesn't show the larger font so there's some setting getting lost when you go to print.
Talking to our client, this problem likely coincides with Adobe updates that were pushed out.  This is easily reproducible (anyone with an up-to-date version of Adobe Reader can do this) but doesn't seem to be a fix.
    Any help out there?
