I was having all the same problems as most people. spent all week trying to get videos on. talked to apple probably like 6 times and they couldn't help me. found this site and answered all my questions and have had no more problems. wish I found it before paying $30 for QT Pro like the people at apple told me I had to do. thanks to everyone
Call Apple and return QT saying they lied to you. Even though officially they gave you the correct answer, put up much of a storm and you should be able to get your money back. (Or even better, take care of it in an Apple store on a crowded weekend.)

When i try and sync my IPOD Nano it says 'some of the items in the itunes library were not copied because they could not be found'. Unfortunately this is pretty much all my library! Help!
This means iTunes can no longer locate the file in the location specified via the Get Info window for each individual track. See the article for assistance.

Sounds to me like you may have gotten a machine with hardware issues, but it's hard to say. It will shut down if it gets too hot, but that's not a normal occurrence. I have never seen a MacBook Pro shut down due to heat, even after lengthy 3D gaming sessions where the fans are running fast and the bottom of the machine is unpleasant to touch.
First thing I would try to do is reset the SMC. If that doesn't help, erase the hard drive and reinstall the system from scratch, which you should always do with a used machine anyway.
If a fresh system doesn't help, you'll need to get it checked out by Apple.
Edit: Oh, and sig is absolutely right... please don't post in all caps! It's very irritating. -
I'd like to transfer the photos from iPhone to MacBook Air. My iPhoto used to detect my iPhone automatically, but it doesn't happen anymore. How could I fox this? Thanks for helping!
Check the iPhoto preferences:
From the main menu bar: iPhoto > Preferences > General:
"Connecting camera opens" : Set this option to "iPhoto".
If that does not help, disconnect your iPhone and reset your iPhone.
To reset iPhone, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears. -
I just exchanged a faulty iPhone 4 for a new one, when I got home to restore it, iCloud says "cannot restore backup". Can somebody please help provide much needed advice? Thanks in advance!
Yep, that's the only message that popped out. Nothing else. Yes, it's running on the latest ios and I still can't restore it. I called apple and they told me it's probably something wrong with their servers. Anyway thanks for the advice.

It is very difficult to offer troubleshooting suggestions when the "os version" you are using is unknown as each os has their own troubleshooting solutions.

What's This Help not working for one entry in each header file
I have a large RoboHelp project that I have imported into Version 8 from a previous version. Prior to the import into Version 8, all of the What's This Help in the project was working perfectly; now, post-import, I have a problem.
Firstly, some background information.
My project contains a large number of individual header (.H) files, one for each dialog within the software. These header files, which have been generated and provided by our developers, contain one entry for each field on the dialog to which the header file relates. The header files are all contained within a \HTML Topics\Fields\ folder (going from the root of my Help project).
Each header file has a corresponding text (.TXT) file. These text files contain entries that correspond to the entries in the relevant header file. The text files are also contained within the \HTML Topics\Fields\ folder.
Below is an example of the contents of a header file:

The What's This Help that was part of the original project still works perfectly. However, after upgrading the project to RoboHelp Version 8, I have had to update the project to reflect changes to the software. As part of this work, I have imported some new header files and updated some existing ones - and edited the corresponding text files accordingly.
The What's This Help that is covered by the header files that I have imported since the upgrade to RoboHelp Version 8 does not work correctly; in each case, the What's This Help does not work for whichever field appears at the top of the appropriate text file. The position of the entry in the corresponding header file does not make a difference.
If I manually edit a text file to move a different entry to the top then recompile the Help project, the What's This Help does not work for the field that now appears at the top of the text file - and the What's This Help for the field that used to appear at the top of the text file now works.
I've tried everything I can think of to fix this, but nothing has worked. It seems as if there is a problem in the way RoboHelp is compiling the header and text files.
If I use Microsoft HTML Help Workshop to decompile the CHM file, then view the contents of the resulting, decompiled text files, the affected files appear as follows:

Note how the entry at the top - which relates to the What's This Help that doesn't work - appears differently to the other entries which do work. The name of the ID appears after ".topic" rather than the appropriate ID number.

MarkIts working now. We just kept trying to reinstall the tools and restarting indesign. On the 4th time the buttons started working. I can't explain why it finally worked, just that it is working now.

I know this is a tech forumn but I just wanted to thank each and evey one of you. My system is working great now and I don't think I could have done it without the help of all you guys! Thanks. Exchanged the Corsair Memmory for Kingston Hyper X PC3500 and my system is running great. RAM now runs at 2-2-3-5 Burst mode 8 with Ultra-turbo! Everything is now running as it should! It took a new modem and new RAM but it works great! I thought maybe my borad was a lemon but everything is working great and blazing fast! Thank you guys so much!

In that case, the only option left to try would be to remove the rtc cell - see Page 63 of your Maintenance & Service Guide - then hold down the power button for 30 seconds.
Leave the notebook like this for 20 minutes, then replace the rtc cell, reassemble and try booting again.

"Copy ESX instruments..." will this help audio engine / CPU efficiency?
I am limping along on a PowerBook G4, so please excuse the old laptop, but maybe someone can help me:
I have an external FW Glyph drive (7200rpm) with all my Logic sounds, including EXS and Ultrabeats, Jam Packs, and other virtual instrument libraries. I have hit some "system overload" moments when playing some sounds such as "Asian Kit", which seem to have a large number of samples within the sounds.
Hence, under Project Settings > Assets, I see that you can check "Copy EXS instruments to project folder". (I currently have checked "Copy External Audio Files to project folder" and "Convert audio file sample rate when importing". I am at 24 bit / 48 kHz.)
My question is: If I check "Copy ESX instruments...", will this aid in my slow CPU speed? I.e., will the sounds be read any quicker off the Glyph if they are copied into the project folder?
Aside from that, is there another way to setup sounds so that the CPU runs most efficiently?

if your samples and project are located in same FW disk, I don't think that copy samples in the project folder can be helpful... but it is very easy to check... just do it and see the result.
you can try to reduce the EXS24 voices numbers from 64 (defalut) to 16 or so... don't forget to freeze your tracks
I can also suggest 2 or 3 different more "radical" experiment for adding power...
1) try to instal the system in your external Firewire and use the Powerbook internal for save the project.
2) you should change the Powerbook Internal disk with a 320GB?
3) have you tryied to add a PCI slot for external eSata drives?
Important note: remember... in any case your PowerBook G4 is not a super fast machine... so... my suggestion should not be able to help so much!

Does anyone know (or is it written anywhere) just how many is 'serveral'? Is it decided on the fly? Or does it depend on the phase of the moon?

Sounds like a really good system but it seems that a bit more thought should have gone into it, no? Or at least the explanation could be clearer.

I sort of agree with this new "Helpie-ette" deal. I wonder why while at this portion of the UX they didn't address the ongoing issue of the "irrevocable nature " of the OP awards of the traditional Green Stamp and Gold Star - I have made the mistake (once) but I see the silliest things marked Solved frequently. THAT is bad for business in that it gives false visual info and false statistical results.
We'll see... BTW, the [People] TAB itself is the only new thing (the CONTROL in the TAB bar) - the URL has always been alive and well if one knew to add " /people "
