Hello to all and I hope that someone can help. I have been accustomed to using the magnifier tool under windows, being a horizontal bar on top of the screen which magnifies the area of the mouse. The advantage of this tool is that I keep my full window. I have not been able to find the same possibility in MAC OS. Can somebody please let me know if I can install/find such a feature in MAC OS? Thank you all for your support (and I hope to say goodbye to windows and parallel desktop shortly :))
Not quite the same thing, but there is a similar option built into OS X. Open the System Preferences and click on the Universal Access icon. Turn Zoom on. Click on the Options button to set how you want zooming to behave.

You are confusing the language with the architectural implementation of that language. Delphi for example has a very tight web integration architecture - supporting developing Apache and IIS plug-in modules, CGIs.. or even (using Indy Classes) building your own custom web server. You'll find the same type of thing with many other languages. Including Java. Including PL/SQL.
Java is a language. PL/SQL is a language. Delphi etc.. are all just languages. Anyone that states that one language is "better" than another is, well.. grossly mistaken. (trying hard to put it into polite terms).
Yes, developers have their favourite languages. Pascal/Delphi is mine. But that means nothing when you select a language and an architecture for doing a specific job, meeting a specific business requirement. You select the best tool for the job. That simple.. and that complex.
Java and J2EE are not The Single Solution To All Information System Problems. But this is exactly what J2EE (and Java) is sold as by the religious fanatics and prophets of Java... and why there is this mistaken believe that Java is somehow better than other programming language.. and that J2EE is somewhat superior to other architectures.

The background is I am working as conversion manager and we move the data from oracle to SQL Server using SSMA and then we will apply the conversion logic and then move the data to system test ,UAT and Production.
Scenario:
Moving the 80 Million records from Conversion database to System Test database (Just for one transaction table) taking too long. Both the databases are in the same server.

What is best option?
IF we use the SSIS it’s very slow and taking 17 hours (some time it use to stuck and won’t allow us to do any process).
I am using my own script (Stored procedure) and it’s taking only 1 hour 40 Min. I would like know is there any better process to speed up and why the SSIS is taking too long.
When we move the data using SSIS do they commit inside after particular count? (or) is the Microsoft is committing all the records together after writing into Transaction Log

Very Important, how much Free Space is on your Hard Drive first of all? Click on the Macintosh HD on the Desktop, then do a Get Info on it.
Could be many things, we should start with this...

1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
Do they launch OK while in Safe Mode? -
After answering the three security questions to update an app on itunes connect the submit button is grayed out. It looks like an error on the website. Has anyone ran into this problem before? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I imported a PDF from for my survey. Then, I distributed it. People have completed it and the results have been submitted back to my FormsCentral account. The first two questions are text entry, then there are two 6 option multiple-choice questions before a 3 option multiple choice question. Why is it that in the report gives me results from four 6-option multiple choice questions before the 3-option question when there are only two? To make matters worse, the questions aren't coded with the text of the questions. They're coded cryptically, as are the responses. What the heck is going on and can I fix this?

"somewhat arbitrary" Does this mean there's actually some order to the way the results are being outputted? If so, how do I determine that order?
"from the user's perspective." Is there another perspective from which the actual (original/initial) ordering of the questions can be resurrected?
I'm not trying to badger. That's not my intent. You have a user here who is reading hope from your words, and I'm trying to distinguish between real hope and a nice way of saying "SOL."

Thanks for the question. From your description, it sounds like various Account Settings have been greyed out in your Settings application (iCloud, Facebook, Twitter). The cause for these being greyed out is a restriction setup on your iPhone. You'll probably see that Restrictions are turned "On" in Settings > General.
You'll want to disable the restriction "Allow Changes: Accounts". For more information on restrictions, see this article:

on my itunes library my albums are all sorted but when i put onto my ipod touch (4th Gen) it seems to duplicate i have checked everything and there are no spaces in the information my question is how do isort it because these things drive me mad i would be most gratefully if you could find a way to help
thatnksNever mind, got it to work. I stumbled around on Google for a while and somehow ended up reading things from the 'jailbroken' community. They had easy instructions to get out of Recovery mode. Thanks anyway though!

I would like to embed interactive widgets in iBooks using iBookAuthor. The widgets in question started life in Java but GWT has allowed them to be converted to javascript and to run on web pages (for example, http://softoption.us/content/node/437 scroll to the bottom). In theory, iBookAuthor can bring in most html5, and much javascript. The technique is to wrap the html in a folder, with 2 extra files, a plist and a default png and then change the extension of the folder to ‘.wdgt’. This is the technique for making Dashboard widgets for the Mac, and Apple even have the Dashcode software to do it. So what you really do is to make a Dashboard widget, then iBookAuthor can import it. So far, so good. And some folk have been doing this, for example http://www.prweb.com/releases/2012/2/prweb9242432.htm http://www.panophoto.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=10417&p=158330#p158423 However, if you start with GWT and create a single page with one button and a Hello World, compile it, and get the WAR file (I use Eclipse here)… the Safari browser and others will run it properly (even on an iPad). Then if you wrap it, a proper Dashboard widget is created, which runs properly on a Mac. Then if you go to iBookAuthor and put a custom widget in the Text, then drag it in. It is accepted by the text and shown as being there. However, if you use Preview to look at it on an iPad, it is gone (or was never there in the first place). Anyone any ideas on this? MartinI do have a little to add, which might help someone. Indeed, opening a blank page and dragging the widget straight in seems good in difficult cases. But, actually, I was also able to insert successfully from the Toolbar especially to blank pages. So, it may have been something to do with the columns and stuff like that. Anyway back then the insertion would show in iBooks Author but not in the Preview on the iPad. I moved on to actual Google Web Toolkit output javascript. Basically I had three at hand to try: a Hello World with a button which went straight it, one of moderate complexity, (for example with a built in Lisp interpreter), which also went straight in, and finally a more complex one that initially was rejected by iBook Author. Author complained that there was an unsupported media file (of course, Author does not tell you which one it is, that would be too easy). [Remember, this was a proper working Dashboard widget which could be installed on a Mac]. Among other things I had read remarks about .gif files. When looking through the GWT war directory at the actual javascript etc files, I noticed there were two gifs there one called ‘clear.cache.gif ‘ and a second one called ‘0F89659FF3F324AE4116F700257E32BD.cache.gif’. (Now, there is obfuscation so the numbers here may be different from case to case.) The clear.cache.gif did not seem to be anything special. But the other one is an animation. It is three little boxes that twinkle (rather like a waiting spinning cursor). So, I opened that file and saved it to itself (that picks the top frame of the animation and saves only that, leaving you with an unanimated gif). The resulting widget drags and drops into iBooks Author (and seems to work properly at a quick glance). So, if you are having trouble with ‘unsupported media files’ converting animated gifs into unanimated gifs might help in some cases.

Is there anyway to establish when my phone last backed up on iCloud if the phone in question is no longer usable?
My wife's phone was dropped down the loo just a day after returning from holiday with all our holiday snaps/vids on it. The phone is dead and only showing on iTunes as in recovery mode. No problem I replied, as it should have backed up on iCloud, however she then advised that the iCloud storage full message had been showing recently but was not sure for how long it had been there. Is there anyway to tell when the last back up occurred or do we have to wait for a new device to be be restored?In 3 years I never synched my calendar to iCloud for fear I would lose my data. I explained all of this (and the fact that my phone had never been backed up to iCloud or iTunes to the tech at the Genius Bar (I was having wifi issues with my phone which is why I was there so I COULD START BACKING UP) and he assured me synching / merging to iCloud would not delete my calendar events: well, it did. Yes! I have spent hours with apple tech support and had my iTunes account in "troubleshoot " status so the engineers could go into iCloud to see if they could retrieve events. They found nothing. I just don't understand where it goes if it's on the phone? I know there are ways forensic engineers retrieve "lost " data on cell phones. I just thought it might be worth it to post on here and see if there is any hope .

Does anyone know how to reset your security questions?? I loaded an itunes gift card on new ipod but when trying to make a purchase, itunes is asking us the incorrect security questions?! (for 1st time purchase) I know the questions are not what I chose because I wrote the questions & answers down when setting up the ipod. Any ideas??!!!

I got some help from an apple assistant on the phone. It is kind of round about way to get in.
Here is what he said to do and it is working for me...
a. on the device that is asking you for the security questions go to "settings", > "store" >
tap the Apple ID and choose view"Apple ID" and sign in.
b. Tap on payment information and add a credit/debit card of your preference then select
"done", in the upper right corner
c. sign out and back into iTunes on the device by going to "settings"> "store" > tap the
Apple ID and choose "sign-out" > Tap "sign -in" > "use existing Apple ID" and you
should be asked to verify your security code for the credit /debit card and NOT the
security questions.
d. At this time you can remove the card by going back in to edit the payment info and
selecting "none" as the card type then saving the changes by selecting "done". You
should now be able to use your iTunes store credit without answering the security
questions.
It's working for me ...I just have to put in my 3 digit security pin from the credit card I am using.

Will XP be ok to use via bootcamp?
Does it matter if it's OEM?Technically it's Lion Boot Camp Assistant doesn't support XP, it is after all 11 years old, and is a booger Microsoft is even trying to flick off with hardly much success.

The hardware in question, almost invariably will run Windows XP OK. There might even be XP video drivers for this laptop, etc. but not the easy collection of drivers for XP specifically for this Macbook. The OP would have to track down the drivers manually. But it is possible to shrink the Mac HD volume, boot a Windows XP disk directly and have it format and install on the free space created. But it's a guess how much of a rabbit hole it is to track down XP specific drivers for this brand new hardware.
But that's the alternative to "Buy Windows 7". Of course, you can run XP in a Virtual Machine, on Lion, however. -

I just updated to FireFox v3.6.8, after using v3.5 successfully for many months. With the new version I keep getting error messages that a script "may have stopped responding", The script in question is "contentAreaUtils.js". My OS is Win2k SP4, with 253,424 KB RAM.
Is there a known fix. If not, is there an easy way to revert to FireFox v3.5 ?Attached is an image of the error message.
