The active browser window that I use is constantly de-activating and I have to click on the window in order to navigate, type or do anything. It behaves as if I have clicked on another window to use even if it is the only window I have open.

Seems as if there is a set amount of time I have to use a browser window and when that time is up, I have to click on the window to use it again. Very aggravating. May not be a firefox issue, but I can't pin it down.

If windows and menus on your computer are unexpectedly "losing focus" every few seconds, there are a few steps that can help isolate or resolve the issue.
First, try booting your computer into safe mode:

If things are working normally in safe mode, this usually means OS X is fine, and the issue is caused by conflicting software in your user account.
Next, see if the issue occurs in a new user account. The steps in this article also apply to creating a new user in Mavericks:

If the issue persists in safe mode and a new user, I would recommend reinstalling Mavericks:

Turn off the feature that automatically maximizes the web browser so that I can perpetually see my open tabs.

Like two weeks ago, Firefox was normal and kick ass as per usual. Then I realized that Firefox had changed - when you are doing stuff in a tab for a particular website that you're browsing, Firefox now does this hella annoying thing where it "maximizes" your view of the website and conceals from view your other working tabs. There used to be like an orange button that said Firefox in the top left that had a dropdown menu of commonly used features, like the download manager and bookmarks. This was all super convenient. It was bright, discernible and all of the tabs that I was working with were simultaneously viewable. Now, what happens is, if you reach to the upper portion of a tab for a website you are viewing, it "unmaximizes" the window and reveals the once concealed tabs, which is WICKED DUMB because all it does is change the orientation of the web page so that the link you were once reaching for is now outside of the trajectory of your mouse, thus causing epilepsy inducing madness of page flicker; not to mention it kills time to have to reorient your mouse because of a feature that doesn't even help anything. I personally use a computer for work, not entertainment, like the majority of porn watching freaks of nature on this thing. It should just be something you can turn off easily. Sorry to be so mad, but I thought maybe i could get used to it, and it's honestly just one of the most nauseating features on any piece of software I have ever come across. Thanks!

OMG thank you. I had just never done that in all the time I have used firefox. I mean, ish happens, I guess. Thanks for telling me how to turn it off. Now I can go back to finishing my Master's Degree [while simultaneously relocating to southern CA from NJ and taking care of my palliative, stage 4 bladder cancer ridden father] in peace (which when you're spread as thin as I am right now, you WOULD do something as dumb as hit F11 and not know how to un-hit it). In the tool bar, is a small window that keeps flashing this: "iPhone is waiting" and "Your (PC) is on fire" Will you please stop it? tyty

Between 'translate' and 'love' on the tool bar is the little window saying "(1)iPhone is Waiting" and then "Your (PC) is On Fire". This isn't funny or cute or necessary. Why are they allowed to do this? I am using the Babylon translation browser. Will you please remove it? tytyty. livlove

Try to disable hardware acceleration.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.
Try to toggle some Boolean gfx.font_rendering prefs on the about:config page to disable some features.
Filter: gfx
Some to try:
* set gfx.direct2d.disabled to true to disable Direct2D
* set gfx.font_rendering.directwrite.use_gdi_table_loading to false.
To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website. 
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page. 
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold (user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default or changed via the right-click context menu.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in Full Screen mode with all toolbars hidden.
* Press F11 to toggle full screen mode (Firefox/File > Full Screen)
If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key, that should make the menu bar appear.
Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
* If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout" (Windows)
* If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
* If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.

Firefox's "full screen" view does that automatically. You can use the F11 function key to enter and exit full screen mode.
By default, the tab bar and Navigation Toolbar also are hidden in full screen view. To keep those displayed, move your mouse pointer to the top of the screen and they should slide down temporarily. Right-click a blank area of the tab bar or right-click the new tab ("+") button and uncheck "Hide Toolbars". When you move your mouse away, they should stay on the screen.

Generate another of those errors, and click the "Click here" link in the error message box.
What modname and modver do you see for the error? (Precise spelling, please.)
If the error is a BEX and you thus aren't seeing a modname or modver, let us know what P1 through P9 items are being listed for the error.

My Firefox seems to be crashing every time I try to open multiple windows that seem to load slowly, overwhelm Firefox and make the whole thing crash.

For example, it seems to happen a lot while on the Entertainment Weekly website, (though it happens often on others as well). If I am reading a page and try to pre-load several other articles into new tabs to read as well, it sometimes seems that opening more than a couple of tabs will cause my browser to crash completely while they are trying to load.

I have one site in my browsing history that won't erase for some reason, and it's been crashing Firefox every time I try to erase it. I changed my security preferences to clear history before each session, and now I can't open Firefox at all. Help.

The site in question was the homepage for Air BnB (http://www.airbnb.com/). It's never given me problems before, and didn't even after this particular instance. I would like to continue using Firefox, but it ill no longer open, I'm assuming because it gets stuck trying to clear the history (as per my changed preferences).
Is there a way to uninstall the program without losing my bookmarks?
Is there a way to manually clear this problem with my history outside the program?

Have you looked for the previous render files? Show contents of your library and see if there are any files in the Render folder from last night.

You can choose which questions to answer. The answer does not have to have any basis in fact - the critical thing is to REMEMBER WHAT YOU SAID. If you decide to say your first car was a Bugattii Veyron, that is no problem, as long as you remember to answer Bugatti Veyron if the question is ever asked in the future.
