The adjustment brush is not working

When I select the adjustment brush and paint across the image no changes are made. I have tried moving the sliders to the extremities but no effects to the image are made. It is very frustrating

  • Local Adjustment Brush does not work in Windows 7, 64-bit

All other tools and functions work OK.  My issue is just with the Adjustment Brush;  The Adjustment Panel opens when the brush is selected and the brush moves, but none of the adjustments are applied to the image.  The problem is clearly related to the new operating system.  This was just confirmed, by removing the hard drive with the Windows 7, 64-bit OS,  and inserting an old hard drive with Windows Vista, 32-bit installed. The adjustment brush works fine with the old OS and the same version of PS.
My normal monitor resolution is 1920 x 1200 with a DPI of 151; however, this DPI is not compatible with PS, so I reset it to 149 evey time I use PS.  Lower screen resolutions and DPI settings don't resolve the problem. I mention this only because of a previous cursor problem that was resolved by changing the DPI.
I'm using CS4 with Camera Raw version 5.6.  Version 5.5 also does not work.
    Can anyone offer suggestions?

Problem solved.  One of the recent upgrades to Camera Raw reset the flow rate to zero, which I did not notice until after posting the message.
    Sorry for the error.

  • The adjustment brush suddenly stopped working in Lr CC (among other things)

    1. All of a sudden the adjustment brush stopped working in my Lr CC. The little buttons that you can click on to activate your adjustments are gone and when I open files where I have done adjustments they are still there but no "buttons" to click and consequently I can not make any changes or new adjustments. For example; in the image I have inserted I have made adjustments with a) Sharpness, b) Skin Softening and c) Iris Enhance and the adjustments are still there but no "buttons" any more and therefore I can´t change anything. I edited this image April 29 and 30 when Lr still worked fine. Today (and yesterday) things has really start spooking around with Lr.
    2. After having saved an image in Ps CC as a psd-file going back to Lr CC for cropping Lr continuously reloads and resets all edits that I have done or are trying to do.
Everything has been working earlier but the past two days things like the above has stopped working.

Well, all problems regarding this are solved after having talked to Adobe's support. After having backed up my lrcat we deleted the Lightroom 6 plist, emptied the trash can and then restored Lightroom to its default values during the start-up process.

  • Adjustment brush sliders not working

In the develop module, the adjustment brush sliders seem to have no affect on the area brushed.  Did I do something to change that or is there a fix for it.

Check the position of the Flow and Density sliders, at the bottom of the panel, you may have set them accidentally to zero

  • The adjustment brush in Lightroom does not work

The lightroom brush does not work.  The radial filter and graduated filters work.  How can I correct this?

What isn't working? Explain a little bit about the problem. Also, what OS, what version of Lightroom, a few details to help us understand your situation really helps. If the problem is that you can't see the tool when it's activated, try pressing the H key which is the toggle switch to hide/show the tool. Another thing to look at is the the flow adjustment on the tool. Without more information, I could guess and guess and guess. But I would just be wasting my time and yours.

  • LR6 Adjustment Brush Pins Not Visible?

Just installed LR6 (licensed) this morning. The adjustment brush seems to work, but the adjustment pins are not visible after exiting the brush dialog (can't see the pins to select for further edits). Reference attached image: there should be two brush adjustment pins visible, approximately where I've placed the red circles.
    Thanks in advance!

    Done.  Thanks, Jim!

  • CS5 - Mixer Brush - Wetness not working properly

    Hi,
I'm using the trial version of Photoshop CS5 Extended.
I'm very excited about the new Bristle Brushes and the Mixer Brush. I think, a nice job was done on these features. However, I think the "wetness" attribute of the Mixer brush is not working as it is intended. I would expect that low setting of wetness would cause the brush to interact less with the underlying color. At the moment, when set to 0% wetness, the Mixer Brush does not interact at all with the underlying color but at 1% wetness it fully interacts with the canvas. There is no perceivable difference between 1%, 50% or 100% wetness. I think this should be fixed in order to enable the full power of the Mixer Brush.
Apart from that, the new brushes are just awesome. It is the most haptic and expressive brush engine I've ever used.
    Thanks,
    DanieL

This seems to be a problem with the Bristle Brushes only and is quite annoying considering that the Bristle Brushes are practically made for the Mixer Brush.  Other brushes seem to use the Wetness slider just fine.  Here's an example:
I hope Adobe fixes this in a patch.

  • How do you make the colour tone of the adjustment brush in camera raw white?

I am using Camera Raw (Version7.0.0.308) in CS6. The adjustment brush does not have a slider for the colour tone but jumps from blue to yellow with the +, - keys. How do I set it to white? Currently all my adjustment come out either with a yellow tone or a blue tone.

    Hi,
I would update to camera raw 7.4 and install any other updates that show when using Help>Updates from within photoshop cs6.
Then check if you have the same issue.

  • I'm using Lightroom cc, I'm trying to create a develop preset. I'm making changes to one photo that I want to apply to many other photos, one of the changes is to blur the background using the adjustment brush. When I am blurring I am going over the photo

I'm using Lightroom cc, I'm trying to create a develop preset. I'm making changes to one photo that I want to apply to many other photos, one of the changes is to blur the background using the adjustment brush. When I am blurring I am going over the photo several times, when I go to create the preset the adjustment brush is not an option to check. How do I add the adjustment brush to the develop presets. Thanks Ron.

The adjustment brush cannot be added to a develop preset.
If you can replace the adjustment brush with a gradient filter or radial filter, you can add those to a dev preset.
If a gradient filter or radial filter is not an option for you, you can at least create an adjustment preset to remember your brush settings.

  • In Camera raw setting of CS6, using the adjustment brush, the new, add or erase buttons do not work. Please advise.

In Camera raw setting of CS6, using the adjustment brush, the new, add or erase buttons do not work. Please advise.

What operating system are you using?
Which version of camera raw do you have in photoshop cs6?
After you select the Adjustment Brush, the New button should already be enabled.
Then after you draw on an area of the image, the Add button should be enabled, with the option to choose either of the other two buttons; New or Erase
    Could you post a screenshot?
Maybe all the adjustment values are set to zero?
(at least one needs to have a value other than zero)

That sounds like it is working, Tony - remember that once you've painted where you want the effect of the brush to apply, you need to adjust the brush parameters, which all start off zeroed.
If you want to see where you've applied the brush, press the (letter) "O".

  • Trying to turn the background black and white in lightroom 5. Using the adjustment brush. It isn't working.

Trying to turn the background black and white in lightroom 5. Using the adjustment brush. It isn't working.

Set Flow and Density of the brush to 100
Reduce it where you want the effect to blend.

  • The brush do not work sometimes without a reason.

Sometime without a reason (I mean I cant find one) the brush do not work (it appears the symbol when you are not able to use a tool), to solve the problem I copy and paste everything on a new document, but it is very messy, what am I doing wrong?
    Thanks for the help!

Hi thank you for the answer,
can you be a little more specific? How can I solve this?
    I have not understand this:
The brush tool will only work when there's a brush present in the brushes panel ("Basic" doesn't count as a brush)
