I am using 3.6.15 and tried version 4 to no avail.
Do you have McAfee Site Advisor installed? See http://support.mozilla.com/nl/questions/753639
I'd also advise you to update to v3.6.16 because the version you're running right now is a security risk. Click '''Help '''| '''Check For Updates'''. -
The back button doesn't work for some websites after downloading version 4.0
I recently downloaded firefox version 4.0. Upon downloading it I had a few issues occur with my browser. One issue was that all of my bookmarks that were on my toolbar disappeared. Also, when I visit a website and am browsing through it, if I want to go back to a previous page the back button doesn't work properly. Instead of sending me back to the previous page I was viewing it sends me all the way back to the home page or wherever I started on that website. This problem basically affects all websites that I visit. I would like to uninstall the new version of firefox and just go back to my old one if that's possible? Thanks
To respond to your comments first of all, the Bookmarks toolbar has been removed in Firefox 4.0
The back button should work as it normally does, but you can also right click it and select it from the list.
To revert to a previous version of Firefox, download v3.6.16 from here: [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html Download Firefox v3.6.16]
Then uninstall Mozilla Firefox 4.0 choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc.
Finally run the Firefox installation file you downloaded earlier. -

When I open a new tab, then go to a new website, the back button doesn't work.
For instance, I open craigslist in a new tab, then I click on "sporting goods". I try to click back to go back to the original craigslist page and the back button is not lit up and does not work. However if after I am on the sporting goods page (the second page I've looked at in that tab) I click on a set of golf clubs, the back button works to go to the sporting goods page.
Please help, I have to use explorer in the mean time :(I had this problem, but in addition, the refresh button didn't work on the new tab. If you're running McAfee SiteAdvisor, disable it in the addons menu, allow firefox to restart, and see if that solves the problem. It did for me.
This problem has been reported on McAfee's forum and they say they're working on a fix. -
The back button doesn't work on some pages
I go to bookmarks and navigate to a page, when I use a link on that page to go to another part the back button on the tool bar does not become active to I can go back. This seems to be happening on all web sites.
There used to be a very useful down arrow button next to the back button which brought up recent history, but it was removed in Firefox version 4. For the life of me, I don't understand why. If you have an older version, just click the down arrow button and select the page you were at before you loaded the offending page.
If you have Firefox v 4 or 5, the best workaround I know of is to do an <alt-s> from the keyboard, which will bring down a history list from which you can select the page you were at before you got trapped. Alternatively, you can bring up the old style menu bar by pressing either Alt or F10, and then drop down the history menu by clicking on it with your mouse. If you want to make that menu bar permanent, you can select View -> Toolbars -> Menu Bar. -
The back button doesn't work.
I can see it, but its not highlighted as if I just opened a new page and have nothing to go back to. I can't return to my previous page.
You are on 3.6.8 so this may not apply to you
Extensions that may '''interfere with Back Button''', and these are already listed in [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Problematic_extensions Problematic extensions] for other reasons
*McAfee Site Advisor (update perhaps 3rd week July 2011)
*Yahoo Toolbar (https://support.mozilla.com/questions/845691)
For you it might be
* http://kb.mozillazine.org/Locked_or_damaged_places.sqlite
You should download 3.6.18 so you will be at least on a supported version of Firefox, read the top, you want -- English (US)

When reinstalling Firefox from a download, Firefox must be down once the installation starts. When the installation finishes, don't let the install start firefox for you. Instead end the install and start Firefox in your normal manner, thus preventing creating a new profile which does not have your bookmarks cookies, etc (but your old profile would still be around and would). -
I've noticed the problem yesterday and it has happened few times today again.
The "Use custom settings for history" selection allows to see the current history and cookie settings, but selecting this doesn't make any changes to history and cookie settings.
Firefox shows "Use custom settings for history" as an indication that at least one of the history and cookie settings is not the default to make you aware that changes were made.
If all History settings are default then the custom settings are hidden and you see "Firefox will: (Never) Remember History".
"Never Remember History" means that Private Browsing is active and "Always use private browsing mode" gets a checkmark.
You need to remove the checkmark on "Always use private browsing mode" to leave Private Browsing mode or chose the "Remember History" setting.

I bought this iphone 3gs off an app. I just want to use it as an ipod. it is sim locked (with two attempts left) and the lock button doesn't work at all. What can I do? I just want to use it as an ipod.
I have also tried everything. I took the sim card out and put it back in again. And I have also left it out. And I have tried connecting it to itunes but I need to unlock. (some of these were suggested by the seller)
Please help me.
imMy guess - and this is completely a guess - is that the SIM in that phone has a PIN that was added to it by the previous owner. Whomever you bought it from didn't bother to check for this (or didn't care) before they got it from the previous owner.
You need to get a new AT&T SIM for that phone - you could even borrow one from a friend if they have one that will fit the phone. You would only need the SIM to activate it.
There is no way to activate an iPhone without a SIM in it, even if you don't plan to use it as anything other than an iPod.

Back Button Doesn't Work on Some Websites
How come my Back Button Doesn't Work on Some Websites? It just keeps redisplaying the same page over and over. Example:
http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/frontBack button behaviour can be pretty wierd. I usually use the keyboard combination, but for some reason it doesn't work on PDF's and I have to end up using the graphical back button.
There are some websites out there that for some reason or another break the Back button's behaviour. Sometimes I have to hold down the mouse button to get the back button menu in order to work around that problem.
In another case there was this page in Amazon that wouldn't allow me to go back to. Everytime I went to that page the browser to automatically kick me to the next page. I had to disable javascript to work around that problem.
