The beginning of RPM-hell on VM Server [SOLVED]
Check this README regarding the Hypervisor patch:
http://download.oracle.com/otn_software/virtualization/Hypervisor_README
Right. Downloaded the two mentioned files plus an extra "xen-tools" , tried to install as stated in the above readme and this shows up:
# rpm -Uv xen-3.1.1-0.0.36.el5.i386.rpm xen-64-3.1.1-0.0.36.el5.noarch.rpm
warning: xen-3.1.1-0.0.36.el5.i386.rpm: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 1e5e0159
error: Failed dependencies:
xen-tools = 3.1.1-0.0.36.el5 is needed by xen-3.1.1-0.0.36.el5.i386
xen-tools = 3.1.1-0.0.36.el5 is needed by xen-64-3.1.1-0.0.36.el5.noarchAh, but xen-tools-3.1.1-0.0.36.el5.i386.rpm was provided also, so let's install it:
# rpm -Uv xen-tools-3.1.1-0.0.36.el5.i386.rpm
warning: xen-tools-3.1.1-0.0.36.el5.i386.rpm: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 1e5e0159
error: Failed dependencies:
xen-tools = 3.1.1-0.0.35.el5 is needed by (installed) xen-devel-3.1.1-0.0.35.el5.i386
xen-tools = 3.1.1-0.0.35.el5 is needed by (installed) xen-3.1.1-0.0.35.el5.i386
xen-tools = 3.1.1-0.0.35.el5 is needed by (installed) xen-64-3.1.1-0.0.35.el5.noarchEhr... anyone found an update for xen-devel-3.1.1-0.0.35 to work with these RPM's..?!
Please Oracle, be a little more straight in providing the right RPM's (unless I'm overlooking something completely). This update is useless so far...
Am I the first to bump into this issue?

Missing RPM xen-devel was added to Oracle downloads.
The current version is very buggy. Hopefully Oracle will release new version or patches.
My notes:
1) VM has gone craizy and shows initializing..., for 4 days already, cannot delete it, cannot delete server nor cannot delete server pool :)
2) Use case: Power on to VM, initializing..., restarted VM server and now it's not possible to stop server pool, delete server pool and also not possible to delete or shut down virutal machine that is still initializing. So only solution I found is to reinstall server.
3) Power on VM and VM got the status Running, Power OFF vm, Power ON and no more able to power up. Shows only initializing

On the Terminal, I press Ctrl C.
I choose Ubuntu that is easy to use. I tried and abandoned Oracle EL5 and Solaris.Need help N°2, please.
Install started well. I am facing another lot of errors, quoted as below: -----
In the windows "System Check Details" - File Space check:
-- database node space checks --
RW-20013: Error: - Not enough free disk space on system:
Database Transaction File Directory = /d01/oracle/VIS/db/apps_st/data

(all other Disk spaces were accepted.)
Where I can correct the disk space allocation ? There are 67 GB free disk space on my pc, avalaible space before VIS install was 270 GB approximatively.

How to launching a perl script by the "begin" script of a jumpstart
Hi all,
i have an urgent pb with my solaris jumpstart, let me explain to you :
i want that the begin script launch some perl script, but i have a problem
here is my "begin" script:
echo "Begining ISO FLAR based jumpstart."
echo ""
echo "Starting Ullink Configuration"
env > /tmp/env
/bin/sh << EOF
/usr/bin/perl /cdrom/.archives/admin-scripts/sethostname.pl
EOFmy perl script use a STDIN
with this configuration, the perl script is launching but it runs in a loop indefinitely with an error "use of uninitialized value", because (i think) a value is return to the begin scritp and not to the perl script.
well, on a pre-installed solaris, if a launch the begin script, it happens the same thing, it runs in a loop, BUT if i comment the line "/bin/sh <<EOF" and "EOF", it works.
at this step, i say "ok it's cool my script is working", but when i use it during the jumpstart instalaltion, the perl script does not start, without any particular error.
here is my perl script, if you want to test :

Is there a way to play an mp4 file at the beginning of a published project only when the project is accessed from a specific site?
A little background info. I use Captivate 7 and currently have over 100 projects that I maintain on a quarterly basis. I publish using the SWF format and upload the swf/htm files to a server where they are then accessed from a few locations (within our online documentation, in our software product, on two different websites). Many of the projects are linked so some will be viewed as a series and others viewed as a standalone video. Each video uses the same template and includes an intro and end slide. Now my organization wants to implement a new intro to all videos (those I publish and those from several groups across the organization). My current intros provide overview material for the specific video so the new intro, which is an animation with audio in mp4 format, would need to be placed at the start of each project. The issue is, the intro adds 9 seconds to every video and in many cases doesn’t add any value (say, if a user accesses the video from within our product or views the videos as a series). I’ve talked it over with my boss and we want to try to add the intro only to videos accessed from site X, not any other location. So now to my question. Is there a way to play an external mp4 file (intro) only when the published project is accessed from a specific site, therefore eliminating the need to update each project? Maybe there's a way to add a parameter or variable to the URL or the html code?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions. Please let me know if you need additional information.AimeeLove,
I have a solution for you. You may have to modify the code a little bit based on how long the timeline animation is for your clock. I based mine on 3 seconds to complete a minute hand sweep around the clock.
Milliseconds for each point on the clock:
12 = 0
1 = 250
2 = 500
3 = 750
4 = 1000
5 = 1250
6 = 1500
7 = 1750
8 = 2000
9 = 2250
10 = 2500
11 = 2750
In the mouseover section for 12 o' clock, put this code...
myVar = setInterval(function(){
var pos = sym.getPosition();
if (pos > 0 && pos < 50){
sym.stop(0);
clearInterval(myVar);
},10);
When you point to the time, the setInterval method loops every 100th of a second and checks the current position of the timeline. When the timeline reaches the range between 0 and 50 milliseconds (almost impossible to hit 1 specific point), the timeline will stop at 0. Also, the clearInterval will be fired to stop the loop.
In the mouseout section, put this...
sym.play();
clearInterval(myVar);
It start the clock again, and it also clears the loop in case you mouseout before you reach the range.
Make sure that myVar is a global variable so you can clear it from the mouseout section.
Repeat this for each point on the clock. To avoid potential conflicts, you may want to use my12, my1, my2, etc. instead of myVar. I put the milliseconds at the top that you would use as the beginning of the range. 50 milliseconds should be enough to catch it. So, for 5 o' clock, you would make your range between 1250 and 1300.
Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

Hello Guys,
I have been running an old server that was installed as a test system on a DELL workstation - Optiplex GX620 (32 bit).
During the installation I had to confirgure the file: /usr/lib/vmware/installer/Core/TargetFilter.py to change the following line:
"return interface.GetInterfaceType() == ScsiInterface.SCSI_IFACE_TYPE_IDE" to read:
"return interface.GetInterfaceType() == ScsiInterface.SCSI_IFACE_TYPE_ISCSI" this made it worked and I have been using it for 3 years now. However, at this time I was hoping to update it with the latest patches and updates and I cannot figure out if I have ESXi or just ESX, nor what was my last update and what is required next.
I have used this command to get the following output:
# vmware -v
VMware ESX Server 3i 3.5.0 build-207095
... I believe the 3i indicates that I have an ESXi 3.5.0 but is build-207095 the same buid as ESXi 3.5.0 Update 5?
If not, how do I go about updating it? What is the KB # I should download?
I can manage it using vSphere Client 5.5 and I can SSH into it using Putty.
Note: When I run... "# esxupdate --bundle=ESXe350-201302401-I-SG.zip update" from within the folder where its at in the datastore, nothing happens... just a new line is scrolled.
Also...

... is there any further update for this system? I believe so as the Heartbleed patch etc. was not around when I was installing this server back in 2010.Hello Richardson Porto,
I wanted to tell you that I appreciate the help so far.
Also wanted to point out to you, that the KB indicated above is older than Update 5, which from your instructions is what I have installed. That KB is for U2.
Now, the document definitely has step by step instructions on installing, querying etc. But my problem is ... NOT ALL COMMANDS WORK FOR ME!
This is why I am here because all the instructions I have been reading does not work with my flavor of ESX 3.5.0, 207095... WHY? It has me stumped.
For example, here are some commands the doc asked me to do and they failed: (Note that I had to unzip the folder on my windows box and upload it to /tmp using vSphere Client)

How do I start a streaming .flv at a point other than the beginning of the video file?
I have a 1.5 hour flv video that is streaming from a
Microsoft 2003 box with Wowza Media Server installed. Using
Actionscript 3 and the FLVplayback component I would like to start
the video at a point about 10 seconds from the beginning.
This code snippet does not work:
myVideoFile.seek(10);
myVideoFile.play();
Though the video seeks to the proper point in the video file,
the play() call sends it back to the beginning. Thanks for your
help!That's the ticket!

is there a way to address email (i.e. a word or some code) that would place that email in a specified inbox folder? not using internal rule, rather the beginning of this sort happening as it comes in?
In other words
I tell a friend if he is emailing me on a particular subject, is there something he can do at his end ([email protected]/research)
like adding the word research at the end of my eamil address that would tell my inbox to place that in the inbox/research folder?
If I have to use a rule on my end, then do I tell him to just place the word research in the subjct line and then I write a rule to place anything with the word research in the subject line in my inbox/research folder?
will the subject line be required to only have the one word research to work, or will the rule look for any presense of that word in the subject line?
thanks
ericiCloud email supports 'plus' addressing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Email_address#Address_tags
So your friend could just add '+research' to the username part of your email address, and you setup a rule at icloud.com to put all emails sent to that address into a particular folder.
For example:
[email protected]
There's no way to do it without rules on the server though. -

Mail is putting the word SPAM at the beginning of subject line of messages
Mail is putting the word SPAM at the beginning of subject line of a large percentage of messages in my in box that are not junk. My Mail Junk Preferences don't seem to affect this. Any ideas?
Dale Borglum wrote:

I don't think Mail can actually do that. It might be something being done by the spam filter running on the mail server at your ISP.
If you have access to your mail through webmail or a different mail program, try leaving Apple Mail closed for a while and only reading mail in one of the other ways. If the SPAM word keeps getting tacked on even when Apple Mail is not running, Apple Mail is not the one doing it. -
Unwanted pausing and freezing at the beginning - Flash player problem - Need help
Hi everybody,
I have got the following problem: the problem occurs especially on youtube.com.
Every time when I open a video, the adobe flash player buffers the video a little bit and suddenly the grey line, which means the buffering on youtube video, stops. Then video plays only until the end of the grey buffer line. Then it freeze and I have to wait until 10-20 seconds until the grey line continues moving forward and at the same time the video continues to play.
But I don't want to have that freezing problem at the beginning of each video.
The important thing to know is: when I used a very old version of the flash player (the version 9 or 10) then every video on youtube worked very well without any freezing problems at the beginning
What is the solution. Can you please help me?
Here is what I have done so far:
I updated my flash player to the latest version.
My internet speed is very fast.
When I click right on the youtube video screen in order to go to the settings: then I unchecked "active hardware acceleration, I changed the temporary storage limit to "unlimited".
My global settings looks like the following: I checked "allow websites to save information on your computer" and "ask if a website wants to use a peer assisted network".
My OS: Windows 7 (64)
Current version of firefox, chrome and IE. I have the problem in every browser.
In the attachment you can see 2 screenshots of my problem: One where you can see the grey buffer line. and the 2nd: where you can see that the video stopped loading and buffering and the video stopped playing.
Unfortunately, I don't get money from the company for advertising its product *sigh*. ;-)Just because your internet connection is fast doesn't mean that the route from the specific server to you is also equivalently fast. You can get some additional information by right-clicking the YouTube video and choosing Stats for nerds. That information would be interesting.
If video plays back fine once it actually buffers successfully, then there's probably not a lot you can do. You might take a look at a different browser. Google Chrome will probably use HTML5 playback on YouTube, and Internet Explorer will use the ActiveX control on Flash, which is significantly different from the NPAPI Flash Player used in Firefox. -
Installation of the VeriSign digital certification in Oracle HTTP Server
I am not obtaining to generate to the pair of keys and the CSR in Oracle HTTP Server, will have some tip I is thankful.
Thanks
LeandroHi Leandro,
Here are some steps to setup digital certificates into Oracle HTTP Server for Unix.
1. The temporary working directory is /u01/tmp/myssl.
2. The contents of <9iAS_HOME>/Apache/open_ssl/bin have been copied to the
temporary working directory created in Assumption #1.
3. SSL file names are priv.key (private key), certreq.csr (certificate request),
and cert.crt (SSL certificate). The actual SSL certificate file could be
named other than 'cert.crt'.
4. By default, SSL is configured using port 443, which requires ROOT access to
start the web listener.
If you want to change this from the default port, you will need to change
the following two parameters in the httpd.conf file to an unused port number:
Listen 443
<VirtualHost default:443>
5. All necessary UNIX environment variables are set correctly for your Oracle
product before implementing these procedures.
6. User must be familiar with UNIX concepts like shell navigation, UNIX
environments, file manipulation/search, file copy/backups, etc.
How to Request and Configure an SSL Certificate for Oracle9i Application Server
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Change your present working directory to the temporary working directory, e.g.,
/u01/tmp/myssl. Ensure the contents of <9iAS_HOME>/Apache/open_ssl/bin have
been copied into this temporary working directory.
2. Copy 5 large files, each at least 250KB, into your temporary working directory.
Suggest looking in any /bin directory for large sized binary files. Execute
the following command to generate the random character file:
% openssl md5 * > rand.rnd
3. Execute the following command to generate the private key (priv.key):
% openssl genrsa -rand rand.rnd -des3 1024 > priv.key
- when prompted, enter a "PEM pass phrase" password
- re-enter password when prompted to verify password
-- remember the pass phrase password you entered
- this command generates the priv.key file and associated pass phrase
- set permissions on the priv.key file to prevent unauthorized editing
% chmod 400 priv.key
- backup the priv.key file to a secure location
NOTE
The PEM pass phrase must be at least 4 characters in length. Remember this
pass phrase, you will be prompted to enter it in the next step and each
time you start up the Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) in SSL mode.
Optionally, you can unencrypt the value of the private key, so that you
will not be prompted for the PEM pass phrase every time you start up OHS
in SSL mode.
To unencrypt the private key, execute the following two commands (Note:
ensure file permissions set to r+w):
% cp priv.key priv.key.bak
% openssl rsa -in priv.key.bak -out priv.key
- the demo certificate shipped with Oracle9iAS does not require a pass
phrase to start OHS in SSL mode.
- on UNIX, to generate the certificate request and start OHS in SSL mode,
the pass phrase must be entered, unless you executed the above steps
to unencrypt.
- on Windows NT/2000, if a certificate is used that has a pass phrase,
the OHS will hang; therefore, on Windows NT/2000, you must execute
the steps to unencrypt.
4. Execute the following command to generate an SSL certificate request
(certreq.csr) based on your private key.
% openssl req -new -key priv.key -out certreq.csr -config openssl.cnf
- when prompted, enter the "PEM pass phrase" set when the private key
was created.
- when prompted, enter the requested fields that make up the
Distinguished Name.
-- each entry must be valid information, i.e., email, state, location, etc.
- when prompted for the "Common Name", you MUST enter the fully
qualified name which will be accessed via client browsers; e.g.,
if clients will use:
https://mysite.domain.com
-- then, you must enter mysite.domain.com as the "Common Name"
- the requested 'extra' attributes, i.e., "challenge password" and
"optional company name", are OPTIONAL; just hit ENTER to use NULL values.
5. You should now have the private key and certificate request files (priv.key
and certreq.csr) in your temporary working directory.
NOTE
At this point, you can use your certificate request file 'certreq.csr' to
order a valid SSL certificate from any CA-vendor, e.g., Verisign.
After you receive your SSL certificate, skip to Step #6 for instructions
on how to deploy your SSL files.
OPTIONAL
You can start 9iAS in SSL mode (see Step #12) and test the pre-installed demo
certificate and private key included for testing purposes.
It is a good idea to test to be sure the Oracle HTTP Server SSL mode works
successfully before deploying your new SSL certificate. To try these demo
files, access the 9iAS index page in a browser using the HTTPS protocol and
the appropriate SSL Listen port. URL format:
https://myhost.domain.com:<ssl_port>
The user will see a Security Alert (IE), or New Site Certificate (Netscape)
warning message, click Continue/Next to accept.
OPTIONAL
To create a self-signed certificate, execute the following commands:
(csh) % setenv RANDFILE rand.rnd
<sh or ksh> % export RANDFILE=rand.rnd
% openssl x509 -req -days 30 -in certreq.csr -signkey priv.key > tempcert.crt
- when prompted, enter the "PEM pass phrase" set when the private key was created.
- this command generates a temporary self-signed certificate file 'tempcert.crt'
valid for 30 days, which can be used while awaiting a valid SSL certificate
purchased from an authorized CA-vendor.
- if this option is used, after generating the 'tempcert.crt' file, skip to
Step #6 for instructions on how to deploy your SSL files.
OPTIONAL
These steps are specifically for requesting a TRIAL certificate from the
CA-vendor Verisign.
- Go to www.verisign.com and click on "Free Guides and Trials" link and
follow instructions to request a "Free Trial SSL ID". During this process,
you will be asked to provide certificate request information.
- Open the 'certreq.csr' file using your text editor of choice.
- Starting with "-----BEGIN NEW CERTIFICATE REQUEST-----" copy all lines
including the BEGIN and END of certificate lines.
- Paste this copied data into the Verisign page where requested and continue.
- You will see the Verisign web site decode your certificate request
information. This decoded information is presented to you to verify it is
correct. If it is, then continue with the process.
- You will be presented with another set of questions from Verisign. Be sure
to answer with the correct email address, as this address will be used to
send your SSL certificate.
- After you answer all these questions, you will be sent a TRIAL 14-day
SSL certificate via email.
- WARNING! You must follow this step carefully, you cannot copy and paste
information from an email to a new text file. After you get your TRIAL
certificate, save the entire email message to a text file. Open this file
using your text editor of choice. You will see the email address header
information and the line:
-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----
- Delete all text that appears before the -----BEGIN CERTIFICATE----- line.
The modified file should contain only certificate information. After you
delete the email header, save this text file inside your temporary directory
with the filename 'trialcert.crt'.
6. Now you are ready to configure Oracle9i Application Server (9iAS) with your
SSL certificate files.
7. Back up your existing <9iAS_HOME>/Apache/Apache/conf/httpd.conf file.
8. Open the httpd.conf file with your text editor of choice.
9. Edit the following httpd.conf directives to use your generated private key
and SSL certificate file, which could be the filename for either the
temporary self-signed certificate, the TRIAL test certificate, or the
purchased valid certificate. The information following the # symbol are
comments.
NOTE
The directory of the SSL files (private key and certificate file)
can reside in any location you choose. The temporary working
directory will continue to be referenced in these procedure steps.
# use the appropriate (i.e., valid, temporary, or trial) certificate filename
SSLCertificateFile /u01/tmp/myssl/tempcert.crt
#private key from Step #4 above:
SSLCertificateKeyFile /u01/tmp/myssl/priv.key
10. Save your modified httpd.conf and exit the text editor.
11. Log in as authorized user (if default ports 80 and 443 are used, ROOT user
must execute commands in next step).
12. Execute the following command to stop, then start Apache in SSL mode
(ensure proper UNIX environments are set; else, execute command from
<9iAS_HOME>/Apache/Apache/bin.)
For Oracle8iAS 1.x:
% httpdsctl stop
% httpdsctl startssl
For Oracle9iAS 1.0.2.x:
% apachectl stop
% apachectl startssl
- when prompted, enter the "pass phrase" created in Step #3.
-- not required if you unencrypted the private key file
- when the Oracle HTTP Server starts successfully in SSL mode, access the
9iAS index page in a browser using the HTTPS protocol and the appropriate
SSL Listen port. URL format:
https://myhost.domain.com:<ssl_port>
- if using a temporary self-signed or TRIAL test certificate, the user will
see a Security Alert (IE), or New Site Certificate (Netscape) warning message,
click Continue/Next to accept.

I hope this help !!

Usernames with underscore at the begining cannot edit pages
Hello,
I know that a username (short name) starting with an underscore “_” are reserved by the system accounts.
Anyways I wanted a character to differentiate users by their name and didn’t wanted to use the hyphen.
So with such users, the pen button is never available. You cannot edit their pages.
The fix is to not name your users using a underscore at the begining.
I wouldn’t consider this as a bug but worth to know.

Without a comfort level in HTML and CSS, anything will be
trouble for you.
On the other hand, if you are not put off by looking at code,
then DW's
templates are quite simple to understand and adapt to.

DW will not play well with sub webs. Each sub web must be
treated as an
independent site in DW with its own site definition and local
site (although
you could nest your local sites in DW).

Does your site's usage require a testing server? By that, I
mean to ask -
are you using server scripting? If not, then you do not need
a testing
server.
