The BEST DVD & BOOK tutorial FCP Training... (?)

If someone can help me finding a Up to date good DVD & Book Combo please let me know.
Thanks

Of course, Jim is right, but if you want a shorter DVD/Book combo I would recommend the Apple Pro Training Series published by Peachpit Press.
If you are planning on upgrading to FCP6 you will have to wait till the end of June/first of July to get the new edition of the book.
Another good book by Peachpit is the Visual Quickpro Guide series, it is more accessible than the manuals in that it is in one volume, but it is just a manual, it does not come with any video to play with.
Here is a list of their new titles to go along with FCS2:

  • What's the best way (book/tutorial) to learn CS4? (web design context)

    Hey,
I'm very new to photoshop and have been hunting around the internet looking at tutorials picking up things here and there... but I would really prefer to get a book that contains everything I need to know. Preferably in a 'follow along' style, as opposed to one big reference manual.
Can you recommend a good book (or if a not a good tutorial series) on using CS4? I'm most interested in using PhotoShop for web design. While I'm not interested in using DreamWeaver etc, I just want to learn how to make simple things for web design. Buttons. Banners. Etc.

Step by step using basic tools and steps. Then some harder things tossed in but easy to master. Plus you can play with the settings to see different results.
PS CS4 The missing Manual is good too and really digs deep.

  • What is the best DVD Creator for a Mac Book Pro to replace iDVD?

What is the Best DVD Creator for a Mac Book Pro to replace iDVD?  Have Maverick OS.

I have already looked at other threads in this forum, so 'I venture forth' to ask my question here:
I have a 44 minute carefully edited iMovie with several chapter markers. I dimly recollect that when you 'dump' the entire movie into iDVD (my version is 7.1) it should detect the markers and create buttons to link to specific scenes. Well, the 'dumping' process obviously doesn't work.
How do you get iDVD to recognize the markers and ceate buttons to link?
I can create with iDVD a DVD that will play the movie in its entirety. This is not suitable for my purposes. I need access via a menu to specific scenes.
    Thank you,
    Klaus

  • What is the best DVD-ripping software for mac?

what is the best DVD-ripping software for mac?

Handbrake to copy to avi or mp4(I use it for watching my DVD's on the go, so my battery lasts for a longer time)
I think MP4 is better quallity.
To copy a DVD: simply use Toast (maybe withe popcorn, but I don't use it).
But, be legal! This is a forum, and anyone can see your posts!

  • What is the best DVD burner?

What is the best DVD burner for a G4 Dual? Internal or external? Brand? I am having burn problems wherein some burned DVDs do not run. I use a burn speed of 1xDVD with Toast 7 and an image file.
    Thanks,
    Stuart

Many like the Pioneer (DVR-110D) or NEC (ND-3550A) brand. Since you have an MDD, I'd install a new drive underneath the original (if the original drive is still good). My MDD has the original Pioneer DVR-104 and a new DVR-110D. Internal drives are much less expensive that external drives (~$40 for OEM drive versus $179 for boxed external). I was able to get Toast Titanium for $39 (with rebates) and the 110D for $40.

  • What's the best graphic card for FCP X and a Mac Pro (early) 2008?

I have a Radeon HD 3870 in my Mac Pro, it seems that I cannot use this configuration with Final Cut Pro X. Then what's the best graphic card for FCP X usable in a Mac Pro (early) 2008?
    Thx,
    Phil

You can get a 5770 radeon ATI MAC card
Avoid the 5770 cards on ebay and Amazon - many are black market or manipulated cards.
Buy it from Apple online store or B&H photo or Macconection
And in my case, I was able to sell my old 2600 XT card on ebay for $65 and put that money toward a 5770 card (Which was about $230 minus the $65)
I installed the 5770 in my early Mac Pro 2 x 2.8 and it works great

  • What is the best dvd burning program with a nice menu like idvd that works with Final cut pro

What is the best dvd burning program with a nice menu like idvd that works with Final cut pro, I am wanting to burn mainly wedding dvds but also sports and other things we used to use idvd but then upgraded our computers and now we dont have it. idvd was the only thing i could find that worked.
    Thanks

There is no real substitute for iDVD.
Why is there no iDVD on my new Mac? How do I get it and how do I install it?
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3673
To burn a DVD with iDVD from the latest version of iMovie, you have to export the movie using the Export button and select 480p as the size. Open iDVD and start a new project, then drag that exported movie file into the iDVD menu window, avoiding any drop zones you see.

Whats the best dvd and video converter? feel free to list your opinions and why i need a new one. also please leave why you think its a good converter and how.
    thanks

There is at least one way on each operating system (windows and mac) to rip your own dvds and then transfer them to itunes and finally put them on your ipod. A mac is the easiest of the two ways. If you have a mac, then you download a program off of the web called handbrake (just "google" >handbrake rip dvds< and its homepage should pop up or try <a class="jive-link-external-small" href="http://">http://handbrake.m0k.org). Handbrake allows you to copy and convert your dvds to ipod format. On a windows operating system the most effective way i have found to rip my dvds is quicktime pro($25-$35). You can buy it at quicktime's website. It basically does the same thing as handbrake. I, myself, have simply converted some videos, like sports shows and commercials, to ipod format using itunes and both the video and audio worked fine.
if you have any ?'s just reply back
    I hope this helps!

  • What is a list of the best third party LabVIEW programming training books

I am interested in learning labView, starting with the basics. What book titles and authers are recommended?
Here are a couple of book titles & authers I see listed as Top Sellers:
"LabView for Everyone" by Jim Kring
" Hands on Introduction to LabView for Scientists and Engineers" by John Essick
"LabView Graphical Programming" by Gary W Johnson
    "Hspan.jajahWrapper { font-size:1em; color:#B11196; text-decoration:underline; } a.jajahLink { color:#000000; text-decoration:none; } span.jajahInLink:hover { background-color:#B11196; }

I started with LabView about 9 months ago, as an absolute beginner, i am still an infant in this environment.
I worked with 'LabVIEW for Everyone' and 'LabVIEW Graphical Programming'. I have also used 'LabVIEW Advanced Programming'. I have bought but not really used 'The LabVIEW Style Book'. I tend to refer back to the middle two (Graphical programming and Advanced Programming). 'LabVIEW for Everyone' is an easy start point but i had problems disciplining my self to work through all the examples. The Advanced Programming book was not as advanced as i thought it might be, covering ground pretty much from the basics.
I have found that many of the queries i have had have required extensive use of this forum and the LabVIEW help/support pages, and soon seemed to progress beyond the books. Inevitably the books are limited in the depth and scope that they cover. I have also used the manuals successfully, tutorials less so.
Broadly, i have experienced several plateaus of enlightenment, first off was the basic functionality, the graphical data flow the core of what i suppose  LV  originally was. The second has been the non-graphically-obvious parts, property nodes, locals etc. The third has been the functions to do with building larger applications with multiple subVIs, application controls, globals, syncronisation, interfacing with the host OS etc. -Further deviations from the graphical data flow. Currently i am looking at standalone applications (Application Builder does not always work quite as advertised with larger apps?) and have not really begun to look at the web/network possibilities. The graphical data flow paradigm does not fit particularly well with parts of these later areas, but they are what turns LabVIEW in to a powerful language rather than a lab focussed tool (IMHO). The books have tended to focus on the first and second areas, cover a bit of the 3rd, and a bit less of the rest... but invaluable to get me going.

  • The best reference book for Dreamweaver CS6

    Hello all:
I'm teaching myself Dreamweaver CS6 through videos.  I haven't worked on Dreamweaver for many, many years.  The version I learned was Macramedia Dreamweaver 4 - so that tells you how long it's been!
Please, could any of you all recommend a good referance guide.  Not a tutorial book.  Just something I can refer to when I get stuck.
    Thanks if you can help!

Unfortunately, there's no simple answer to this. CS6 Perpetual License is different from CS6 Creative Cloud.   New feature enhancements are being added to the Cloud software on a regular basis.  Whereas Perpetual License users do not get these major upgrades until they actually upgrade to CS7.
Whichever product you use, learn all you can about modern HTML and CSS first.  This is required knowledge & it will make learning to work with DW much easier.

  • What's the best mac book to have for someone who is going to study for the next four years

Best mac book to use for study etc essays

Four years is a long time.  Your needs can change as studies progress from "general classes" to "deep core of your major".
What will you be studying?  How much do you now (or in the possible future) play games?  What is your budget?  How sensitive are you to screen size or computer weight?  Do you use a DVD drive often?

  • What is the best way to learn FCP?

    Hi,
I have used FCP in a very limited way, i.e. playing around, making short videos. I am wanting to move onto editing all of my videos in FCP but I find it very different to anything else I have used, even on a mac. What is the best/easiest way to learn the essentials of FCP? Also bear in mind I'm a student, so looking for a budget solution.
    Thanks

Books and tutorials are great and I'll second them... in fact, I'll put my vote out for Jerry Hofmann's book... not sure if he's got the v5 out or if he gave up, but even the v4 book would be very helpful.
Takes you step by every livin' step through the editing process of a short film. Letting YOU make the choices etc. But it is done so in a really thought out lesson way.
By the time you're done, you've got a nice film worth showing at your local living room.
HOWEVER -- I have ALSO found that 50 tutorials doth not an editor make. Take it from me... I love After Effects, but I've done so many tutorials I rely on them to show me how... if you get my meaning. I've never really dug INTO the program to build my own things (not really, but it sounds good and makes a point.)
I guess I'm saying... take your camera and a day and build a story. Simple as filming your back yard. Got kids? Use them.
You'll find as you shoot/cut that you'll be looking for those shots and effects that you'll need to key in on as an editor. You'll get a sense of pacing as you are working out what the heck does JKL do?
Yes, you might be mouse driven for a while, but after you know what the books are talking about you can then start to understand and internalize them.
    Ya?
    Good luck,
