The Daily Show Multi-Pass: how does this work?

I subscribed to the Daily Show Multi-Pass. The store said it was busy and try again later. So I thought I'd do it later but meanwhile got an email saying I had the multi-pass and 9.99 has been deducted from my account!
The email has a link to view account preferences. It says that 2 of the 16 episodes have been downloaded - nothing has been downloaded (and only one show is currently available).
According to the email: "You will receive an email when future episodes of The Daily Show are available and the episodes will be downloaded automatically to the account listed above the next time you sign in to iTunes." What? When is that?
It would be great if this worked with RSS like podcasts instead of some mysterious download time.
Is this working for anyone?

Okay here's what you have to do: Go to the Music
Store, and click the button with your e-mail address
at the top right (below "browse"). Then click "Sign
out" in the popup. Then click where your e-mail
address used to be to sign in again. Your episode
will start downloading.
This is a stupid way for Apple to do it, but at least
it technically works so until they make it easier
this is what we're going to have to do every day.
Argh!
Hmmm...when I did the above, it ran through the "Checking for purchases" before starting the download. So I wonder if doing the "Check for purchases..." selection under the Advanced menu would do the same thing without the hassle of logging out and in. I'll give it a try tomorrow...

  • My iPhone was stolen and I have contacted the police who are using the meid number to locate.  How does this work and what are my chances of getting the phone back?

My iPhone was stolen.  I used Find My iPhone app to lock it and display a message.  The phone has not connected to the internet to locate it.  I contacted the police and they have taken my meid number.  How does this work and what are my chances of getting the phone back?  Are there other ways the theif can use it.  I was told once they put in a new sim card and use it, whatever software the police have, it will show up.

Honestly? In the US (I can't speak to other countries, though I doubt it works much differently in a lot of the world) The police took your report and filed it either in their computers or, on paper. They will now not think of this again. The only time it will cross anyones mind is if, in the course of entering information into evidence about items recovered or seized at a crime scene, the serial number of an iPhone that was found/seized happens to match yours, in which case you will be contacted.
The police in the US can and will do nothing to 'blok' the phone and it's not worth their time to try and locate it unless you know for a fact that it was stolen by a big time drug lord, master criminal, or some other such prime target and they can get a court order to track the location of the phone in order to locate this individual for your own purposes.  If they do that, they'll probably keep him under surveilance for a year or so before they act.
Basically, the police don't care about your phone. If they find it, they will give it back to you. They are not, however, going to go looking for it. They have better things to do.
I'm sorry, but that's the way it is.

  • Was told a USB device would create a PDF automatically from the data contained within when plugged into my USB port. Doesn't seem to work. How does this work and how can I fix the device I received?

Acrobat is not on the USB device - only Adobe Reader needed on the PC. How does this work? How can I fix this device if at all?

You need to ask the people who sold it to you. Doesn't sound like it has anything to do with Reader.
However, you should be wary of devices that automatically try to open files when plugged in. They can also infect your computers with all kinds of viruses or malware.

Fantastic!  Didn't work at first so restarted App store and tried again.  This time it asked 'ignore update'.  All gone!

My co-worker has given me his iPod to take home and transfer his music to my laptop, however, I am unable to access his music to download it to my computer.  How does this work?

You need to transfer the iTunes Library from the most recent backup you made before the hard drive was replaced.
You can't transfer the full iTunes Library from the iPad back to iTunes.
There are third-party Windows applications that will transfer data from an iOS device, but they don't re-create the iTunes Library exactly as it was before.

It should be added either to your iTunes account, or possibly to your credit card if the purchase was made on with it.
How long ago did you get the email ? It may take 48 hours for it to appear - if it's been longer than that and you can't see it on your iTunes balance (and you've tried logging out and back into the account to see if the balance updates) nor on your credit card then try contacting Support again, and include your case number if you have one.

  • HT204053 My husband and I both have iPhones but we only have one iPad. We use the same apple ID because we also share the same email address. How would this work with iCloud because we don't share the same contacts?  Thanks Elainecontacts

My husband and I both have an iPhone and we share an iPad. We also share the same email address so how would this work with iCloud because we don't share all the same contacts?
    Thanks

An icloud account is designed to be used by one user.  That user can have all his/her devices synced with the same Apple data (email, contacts, calendars, notes, reminders, etc.) .  When two people use the same account, then problems usually occur when one user edits data that the other user doesn't want changed on their device.  You can continue sharing the same ID for the itunes account in order to share the purchased music, apps, etc.  itunes accounts and icloud accounts are different.
It's by far better that each user has his/her own icloud account.

  • What does the bookmark bar do? How does it work?

What does the bookmark bar do? How does it work?

You can use the bookmarks bar in Safari to have links to some sites permanently shown at the top of the screen below the address field and icons - so you just have to tap the link on the bar to go to that site as opposed to tapping the bookmarks icon and finding the link in there. So it's just a slightly quicker way to go some of your more regularly used sites

  • How does this work?

This is not a complaint, but a confused sigh of admiration. I've got an email account at the university where I teach. When I got my iBook, it took me a while, and a few conversations with IT at the school, to get this account working in the Mail application. (Since I have a Verizon DSL at home, I had to include that SMTP as the outgoing server.) Anyway, I synched this mail account (along with my AOL and .Mac accounts) onto the iPhone, and it works perfectly, both incoming and outgoing. I didn't have to change any of the settings. I thought I was computer savvy, but I can't wrap my mind around this. It seems like magic. How does it work?

The sync process with iTunes transfers the email account settings (for your chosen accounts via your iPhone sync preferences) from the Mail application on your Mac to the iPhone's email application.
The iPhone is running OS X and the iPhone's email client can be considered a mobile version of the Mail application.

  • How does this work with multiple systems backing up with time machine

I was wondering as Apple states that this will do multiple time machine backups as in multiple computers, how does this do this? I am assumng that it will require me to partition the srive in the unit as multiple partitions. 1 for each time computer with time machine running.

I'm sorry, I'm not quite sure how to interpret your answer so I'll ask for clarification.
Do you mean that the backup belonging to each user will be protected by filesystem perms? In other words Alice's backup will be owned by Alice and only readable by her, ditto for the hyperthetical Bill?
I guess in other words, does Time Machine preserve file ownership perms?

  • JDO 2 passes - how does this affect 3.3.0?

Given that the JDO 2 spec passed (hooray!), will this affect the release of
3.3.0? Or will the "official" JDO 2.0 features wait for a future release?
    ;ted

Not at all -- 3.3.0 is not the release that has full JDO2 support.
That'll be coming in the next few months. 3.3.0, on the other hand,
should be out much sooner than that.

  • Normal rule applied to a DO child node, how does this works?

    Hi folks,
unfortunatly I'm facing a new issue in this new project's day. I try to explain to you what happens.
I create a DO (standard type, download only) which represents Purchase Orders headers and their items and I don't have neither any receiver generation data object nor subscription generator DO.
    Its structure is like this:
    POHEADER
    --PO_NUMBER
    --DOC_TYPE
    --STATUS
    --... (some other attributes)
    POHEADER has a child node:
    POITEM
    --PO_NUMER (ID of its header)
    --PO_ITEM (ID of the item)
    --MATERIAL
    --PLANT
    --... (some other attributes)
Customer requirement is to distribute Purchase orders accoding customer's plants. We'll have a MI client for every plant and on that client the user should work only on related POs.
To satisfy this requirement I created a new custom group (PURCHASEORDER_GROUP) into RMM with a single value attribute named PLANT_ID. Then I created a new normal rule into my distribution model with a criteria related to the PLANT attribute of POITEM child node, with a condition EQ and MOBILE.PURCHASEORDER_GROUP.PLANT_ID, for the comparison value.
Afterwards I have created a new device within the DO Admin & Monitoring Portal, assigning a value to those attribute (for example 1200) and I have registered my client to that device.
Into back end sistem I have 31 PO headers which belong to plant 1200, so I ran a syncronization on my client and I could correctly see 31 PO headers, so my rule seems to work fine, but the related POITEM, for those 31 headers, are not transferd.
Do yoo have any explanation about this? Can't I create a rule criteria according an attribute which belongs to a child node?
As usual any hint will be precious
    BR

    Hi Pradeep,
I have uninstalled my client and reinstalled it, I have deleted my device into admin & monitor porta and recreated id, I have cleaned up middleware data (trans SDOE_CLEANUP), and I have activated the normal rule and node filter rule into the portal.
When I synced my fresh installed client I got 31 PO Headers and 35 PO Items!!!
So maybe I got rid of this issue!!!
thanks for all your hints guys

  • TS1496 How does this work for a Mac Pro?  Just did an update and my iPod video click is no longer recognized by iTunes or in finder but shows do not disconnect.  What do I do?

I downloaded the latest update of iTunes 11.4 today - Columbus Day.  Went on to purchase songs.  Then attached classic iPod to sync.  upon attached usb to iPod, the "Do Not Disconnect" message appeared.  Waited a long time and iTunes would not recognize my iPod.  (10 minutes minimum.  Gave up counting)  Shut down iTunes and restarted.  Still no recognition.  Restarted computer - Wouldn't start.  Unplugged USB and then it started.  The only way to get computer to start up again was to unplug - now I'm worried that I've just screwed up my iPod.  Upon starting back up - plugged iPod back in - sell no recognition.  Am I up a creek with no paddle now?  My iPod- touch is recognized and I was able to update it successfully.  With that being said, it took a heck of a lot longer than it normally does post update.  Was this the update that no longer likes classic iPods?
I have a brain injury and the classic is helpful at night when I can't fall asleep and I can play soothing stuff to help calm my brain down.  The touch is way to bright and can cause lots of bad reactions due to light sensitivity - way too much blue light to trigger issues.  The click wheel doesn't take so many moves to get to what I need.
Thank you to anyone that can help save my classic.  medical bills are high and I can't afford to buy a new one.  Two hours later, my classic still says do not disconnect and my computer does not recognize.
Thank you to any one for the ability to provide insight and troubleshooting.
    pooped out.

    1. Try Resetting the iPod. Hold Select and Menu for 6-10 seconds - until you see the Apple Symbol.
    2. Use iPod Updater to restore your iPod to factory settings.
See if those two steps clear up your problem.

  • Looking for a strait forword answer about the CS5.5 Upgrade. How does this differ with the CS5?

I just got Flash Professional CS5 3 months ago. Now I see a latest Flash Software (CS5.5) out but the upgrade is costly. I'm going threw Creative Edge to learn
how to be more familaer with what projects I can do. As I was going threw a new book threw creative edge, I downloaded the materal so I can understand what it is on what it is trying to teach me. As I opened it, My Flash CS5 gave me a prompt that the file was created with Flash CS5.5 and it was not able to open it. Is this upgrade mandatory for the adobe users?

You definitely need to learn to be patient when it comes to using forums - you could barely go an hour without making a remark like that?!
These are user-to-user forums.  Adobe employees do not visit here often.  If you want information about how CS5.5 differs from CS5, then do what anyone would do and look up the product description via the Adobe Products section to see what's new about CS5.5.
Upgrades are not mandatory for anyone.
