The "date and time" tab won't open in system preferences
I am not able to change date and time, and I can't even use my internet because the date is set to 1970, please help!! The time and date section in system preferences keeps freezing whenever I click it and I have to force close it.
Help?? Anyone? Having the same problem

Frank BDoesn't any bring up the fact that Apple has so many customers with problems that the refuse to help unless you pay them cash? They update you and screw you over and then offer no useful troubleshooting scenarioius to help their millions of customers. It is because they want millions of our dollars. I hate Apple.

hello! i am using ipad n i am not able to connect to itunes store.Whenever i open itunes it syas "cannot connect to itunes store".i tried resetting the network settings n also tried changing the dat and time settings as mentioned but it still doesnt work!please help!

Applecare Senior Advisor Txx Bxxx (I have his contact info in an email he just sent) just confirmed with me that the problem people are having with the App Store not loading is an apple issue with there servers, ITS NOT YOUR IPAD so don't go restoring it! It's not happening to everyone however but they are looking into it, its really hit or miss.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

put a date 1970 june 27 . and now the whole system is out of control i cant get to internet cannot change date and time always when i opened system preferences stays in a waiting mode but doesnt show any opcion don t know what to do and i just bought this computer
It may well be a driver issue but considering the loading: Xorg trying to load different drivers is somewhat normal. @cafe you can see that these are autoconfigured by X above the loading in the log:

Camileo P100 camcorder won't store the date and time
My recently purchased camileo P100 camcorder won't store the date and time.
Every time it is started it has to be reset as it returns to the default date.
Has anybody else had this problemI've got the same problem and reported it allready to Toshiba support.
Although I mentioned that there were allready more people who posted this problem, toshiba replied that they didn't receive such complaints. I was advised to return my camera to the reseller which I did'n do because I think it's a software problem so all the P100's have the same problem -

That means it's having trouble connecting to the network. Make sure location is set correctly. DNS should be set to automatic. Ensure router is up to date, reboot all devices. If on wifi try ethernet.

How to have the Date and Time appear on printouts
The Date and Time used to appear (at the bottom right) on things printed from websites. For example, receipts from an online purchase, an article on the web etc.
I am able to see the setting to appear at bottom right (in the "File" dropdown).
Following a Firefox update, I no longer get that very useful "Time & Date Stamp".
This is very frustrating. Can anyone help?
Thanks,Are you saying you can see the date and time in the "Print Preview" or in the "Page Setup" dialog under the "Margins & Header/Footer" tab. The date and time won't display if it is not set correctly in the "Page Setup" dialog. Also, is this on one specific printer or many different ones? If this is only happening on one printer there may be a problem with the print driver, even though there would be probably more serious things going on than a missing footer. You could also experiment and create a pdf using "PDF Creator" at http://www.pdfforge.org/pdfcreator and see if it comes up on the created document.

Look, I understand I still need a card attached to the account. The problem is, it won't accept my card because I only have 87 cents in my bank account right now.
If I had known there would be so much trouble with the iTunes card, I would have just put the cash in my bank account in the morning instead of buying an iTunes card (I didn't expect the banks to be open on Thanksgiving of course).
Apple will only accept cards that have a balance. The balance is so small in my account that it won't accept it as a valid card.
I'm going to have to contact Apple anyway to reset the security questions. That's obvious. Your answers were not exactly helpful. You didn't tell me anything I don't already know, but thanks for trying to be helpful. -
Can't change the date and time
On a recent trip abroad, my N96 automatically switched to the local time on arrival, but it failed to switch back to UK time when I returned. Now my phone is stuck 3 hours ahead, and it won't let me change the date or time manually. When I select Settings | General | Date and time, and click Open, 'Change' flashes up briefly, but even if I'm fast enough to click it, nothing happens.
I've tried reverting to the Factory Settings, but that did not resolve the problem. I've also checked for Firmware updates, but there aren't any. Any suggestions for fixing this would be very welcome...Your operator doesn't seem to support time autoupdate while the operator you connected to while abroad does.
Go into the clock settings and set auto time update to "off". Then set the time zone to "GMT 0:00 London". This should bring the clock's time back to what it should be. If it doesn't, at least you can do so manually now (having auto time update set to "on" removes your ability to set the date and time manually).

My macbook pro keeps crashing and resetting the date and time
I'm having a problem with my 2010 Macbook pro(ios6.1) with crashing. After it happens I need to reset the date and time. I also have a problem with iphoto, the program won't open. I have reintalled it serveral times and after the update it won't open just the circulating circle appears. I'm running on Mac OS X version 10.6.8 If any one can help it would be greatly appreciated. D.D.D
If you have to reset the date and time, it may be that there is a power interruption. I would try a SMC reset.

There is something wrong with the volumes buttons in my macbook pro, every time i pressed the one who raises the volume, it leads me to the screen where (i do not no what its called) the background is black with the date and time and a calculator. However, when i lower it, my safari tab goes out of the screen. What do you guys think i should do? I'm getting very nervous.

There's a toolbar button sitting in the Customize Palette. Move that button to a toolbar or into the Open Menu box; when you hover the cursor over that button a tooltip will appear with the day-of-week and the time of the last Sync event.

You can show the date and time using the Captions option. The process is described below.
Add a new level of enjoyment to your scenes by decorating them. You can add animated graphics, stamps and even your own freehand drawings. The supplied stylus pen will be especially useful for decorating scenes.
You can decorate scenes as they are being recorded.
IMPORTANT
The screens and settings that appear may differ depending on the model you are using.
NOTE
You can open the decoration screen when the LCD panel is stowed with the LCD screen facing away from the camcorder. In such case, make sure [Autostart Decoration] is set to [On].
Decorating Scenes while Recording
1. Touch [
2. Touch [Decoration].
3. The decoration mode screen appears.
On the decoration screen, there is a canvas where you can draw freely, and a toolbar with tools lined up for creating your drawings.
Select the tool you want to use from the toolbar, and make drawings on the canvas.

Select the type of pen or stamp and its color. You can also save a canvas or load a previously saved canvas.
Animated Stamps
Select animated stamps to add to your decoration.
Captions

Select white or black from [Colors].
Alternatively, you can touch [

3. Draw freely on the canvas.

] > [Clear] > [Yes] to clear the canvas and start again.
NOTE
The canvas with decorations can be deleted, saved, and loaded.
You can save the decorated canvas right after a decorating action.
If the memory that contains the canvas is initialized, the canvas will be deleted.
To use [Animated Stamps]
1. Touch [
2. Touch one of the control buttons.
3. Touch anywhere on the canvas to place the selected animated stamp. You can also drag some animated stamps to a different location.
NOTE
When the [Animated Stamps] tool is used, the date/time will not be displayed or recorded.
To use [Captions]
1. Touch [
2. Touch [Date] or [Time].
When recording a scene using Story Creator, you can also select [Title]
(the story&&&&&&&&&s title) or [Story Scene] (the story scene category).
3. Select the desired text settings and touch [

Touch the caption and drag it to the desired location.
To use image mix
1. Touch [
] to open the [Select Image] screen.

You can touch one of the memory icons at the bottom of the screen to read image mix frames saved on a different memory (When recording on or playing back scenes from a memory card).

When [Rec Media for Movies] is set to [
] (the built-in memory), you will not be able to select image mix frames saved on a memory card (For camcorders that have internal memory only).
For AVCHD movies, image mix cannot be selected during playback or while converting a scene to standard definition (For camcorders that have internal memory only). Select the image mix during playback pause or before starting the conversion.
To use freeze screen
1. Touch [

Last night my laptop died and the time and date was reset. I cannot acess date and time preferences to change it and my laptop is acting really weird. My CD drive is broken so there are no options to put in a cd. Please someone help i need my laptop for school and cannot afford another.
Many system actions will misbehave, given an inaccurate date. Resetting the NVRAM and / or SMC will not fix it, and if the system has a preposterous date you may not be able to open System Preferences to correct it. This dilemma may or may not be addressed in a future OS X update.
If you cannot open System Preferences you can reset your system date and time using Terminal.
Please read everything that follows before proceeding. Write them down if necessary because the effects of setting a preposterous system date are unpredictable.
Quit System Preferences, force quit if necessary: OS X: How to quit an unresponsive application using Force Quit
Open Terminal - it is in your Utilities folder and looks like this
You can find Terminal by using the Finder's Go menu and choosing Utilities, then double-click the Terminal icon.
At the prompt, you will be typing a command resembling the following:
sudo date mmddhhnnyyyy
... but you must substitute the actual date and time in the command that corresponds to the date format used for your location. In other words if your custom is to use a date like 8 February 2014 then reverse the mm and dd values.
Substitute numerals in the above command according to the following:
mm = month
dd = date
hh = hour (24 hour format)
nn = minutes past the hour
yyyy = year
Each of those values must be two digits except for the year which can be two or four digits. As an example if the current date and time is February 8, 2014 at 9 PM your command will be the following:
sudo date 020821002014
or
sudo date 0208210014
Either one will work. If you enter nonsensical values the system will attempt to parse the entry correctly.
To recover from your inability to use System Preferences to set the date and time, the value entered does not have to be precise, it just has to be approximate.
Enter that command using the actual time and date for your location and in the appropriate format, then press the Return key. Terminal will ask for your Admin Password - the same one you use when you log in to your Mac. Type it and then press the Return key. What you type will not appear, not even with •••• characters.
To determine if your change was effective just type the date command and press the Return key. Terminal will reply with the date and time. If it appears correct and in the correct format, you should be able to open System Preferences > Date & Time once again. Selecting the "Set time and date automatically" and choosing an appropriate time server will adjust your Mac's system clock to the precise time. -

The Photos app will not do this but other apps will. iPhoto has an icon that when tapped with the photo open will show the EXIF information you are looking for. iPhoto is not free but you can purchase it in the App Store.
There may be other photo apps that provide this information as well.
PhotoForge2 will show the EXIF data as well as the GPS data if it is available.
