The download for Mountain Lion

The Download for Mountain Lion has been running for eight hours now. What's wrong???

Try clicking Store from the App Store menu bar top of your screen. From the drop down menu click Check for Unfinished Downloads.
If you have a slow internet connection, the download may have timed out before finishing.

  • How long does the download for mountain lion take?

after the reading of many very bad customer appraisals I have not hesitated, nevertheless, and have on-line bought the silver lion's actualisation. Now I wait for half an hour, and there is no result generally. What´s happening there? Is this the apple company, where i am client since 20 Years?!

Yes, it's an "improvement". Now, instead of spending time going to the Apple store and buying a shiny new disc, or ordering it online, you only have to wait for your beard to grow.
If you have a loading bar under AppsStore icon, that's right.

  • Updated my mac to mountain lion 10.8.3 and now my app store, mail or facetime won't open. Also, I am not longer able to play videos through firefox. I tried downloading the combo for mountain lion and it refuses to install? Can anyone help me?

updated my mac to mountain lion 10.7.8.3 and now my app store, mail or facetime won't open. Also, I am not longer able to play videos through firefox. I tried downloading the combo for mountain lion and it refuses to install saying that I need to see developer. Whenever I try to open my appstore, mail or facetime it says that the programmes need to be installed and might not be compatible with this version of mac operating system. Can anyone help me?

It's not a bad install of Mountain Lion. I've had the same thing happen to me, but it affected not only Mail, but a variety of other programs including iPhoto and MS Office, where I had to delete preferences, caches, and reinstall the OS as well as the program itself. I'm still having issues with Mail, so I've gone to another program.
Everything was fine upon the initial install. I restarted my iMac about two weeks after the install, and that's when the issues began to happen. I've reinstalled Mountain Lion twice, but the same issues arise.
As I mentioned above, you'll need to figure out which preferences are causing the issue, then reinstall the program, as a fresh reinstallation will do you no good unless you wipe the drive completely.
Here's a thread that helped me with iPhoto:

If it was the contact form for the forum mod team then it is normally about 3 working days as all mails are dealt with strictly in turn also if it was that form you would have had a confirmation immediately you sent the contact form as it opens a new web page with a reference number on it and also you will be personally contacted by phone or email

  • My wifi network is 802.11n but there are times changing for 802.11g, and have to restart ... after the update for Mountain Lion

My wifi network is 802.11n but there are times changing for 802.11g, and have to restart ... after the update for Mountain Lion...  Help!!!
Several problems with Mountain Lion, APP STORE (login/logout error), WIFI(802.11n for 802.11g), MAIL (horrible)... Apple, what is happening?

Do a factory reset .. nothing will be deleted from your backups and you will be able to get access to them again.
    The Factory Reset Gen1-4.
Unplug your TC. Hold in reset. and power the TC back on.. without releasing reset for about 10sec. When the status light flashes rapidly; release it.
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel..  add no more pressure after that.
TC will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations.
No files are deleted on the hard disk.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.

  • IPhoto - Download for Mountain Lion

    Hi,
Is there somewhere I can download iPhoto?  I no longer have it installed after an upgrade from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion.  I've searched around with no luck, and the app store only offers the latest version for Yosemite (which I prefer not to upgrade to).  There really should be an option for registered Mac owners to download older versions of software, or perhaps implement an option in the App Store to search an archive for OS specific apps.
I really need some assistance in obtaining a compatible version of iPhoto for 10.8.5, so please don't mark this up as a feature request and forget it, but rather provide a solution without an upgrade.
    Thanks!

    Thanks Niel,
I'll try that when I can get to them.
Do you know if Apple has, or will have, an archived or repo of older software in the case someone doesn't have their original discs?  Or is the only alternative to download iLife?

  • Stuck at 53.25 download for mountain lion

Please help, I.m not sure how to change my internet settings to accomodate the mountain lion download/ upgrade. have tried deleting started download restarting it(deleted the "com.apple.appstore" file and restarted the process) download keeps getting stuck at 53.25MB

I was also getting stuck at 53.25mb and tried several solutions on the forum.
A possible reason I have found is if you are (as I am) on BT Broadband using a 2-Wire Hub because there is apparently a 2GB download limit (not heard this of this before). I read this on MacRumors and that BT plan to release a firmware upgrade to sort the problem.
In the meantime I switched to another non-BT wireless network in the same building and hey presto the download is flying.
Haven't tried the hotspot shield solution.

  • Is the downloading of mountain lion very long, it is normal?

    I use the wifi.

I can't believe how far we've come in such a short amount of time.
I remember when we had to go through the hassle of inserting some shiny fangled media into the side of the computer and wait 20 mins for it to install, and then another 20-30 mins for the updates to be applied.
Thankfully, Apple are leaving those archaic ways to those with less vision and innovation. And we now have a much brighter future with 3-5 hour installations to look forward to.
And yet, some people see this as a step backwards as opposed to progress. Tish... what luddites!!
    PS
Yes, I know you can make a bootable USB install, but try explaining that procedure to your average user.

  • I try to download the OS X Mountain Lion, and I keep getting an error saying, "The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed." Please Help!

I try to download the OS X Mountain Lion, and I keep getting an error saying, "The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed." Please Help!

If you have Intego VirusBarrier X6 installed
    1. Open /Applications/VirusBarrier X6.
    2. Click on the "Surf" button.
    3. Click on the "Ad Banner Filter" tab.
    4. Click "OFF" next to "Banner advertisement filter".
    5. Start the computer in Safe Boot, then restart the computer into normal mode.
If don't not have Intego Virus Barrier installed
    1. Verify that the date and time is correct on the computer.
    2. Safe Boot once, then restart normally, then try downloading again.
    3. Try with a different user account if the issue persists
    If the issue persists
Install Lion onto an empty partition (internal or external).
Note: You can Use Disk Utility to live partition the internal drive and create a second partition large enough to install Lion.
Start from the clean installation of Lion.
Download Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store. Note that the original startup disk can be set as the destination for Mountain Lion during the installation process.

  • Getting "An error has occurred" on download of Mountain Lion, button has no label and doesn;t do anything when pushed

The download of Mountain lion failed, when I resumed it, I got "An error as occurred" and the button label went blank.  when pushing the button, nothing happens.  The purchase item when to a new category in the Purchases page in the Mac App Store, it is titled "Other Purchases" and is at the top of the Purchases page, probably due to the fact that this was a redemption from the UpToDate mode for a new MacBook.  The "Other Purchases" category remains on the page when I sign out of the App Store.

    Launch the App Store.
From the App Store menu bar (top of your screen) click Check for Unfinished Downloads
If that doesnt help, try here >   Mac App Store: How to resume interrupted downloads

  • Firewall gui for Mountain Lion Server

Is there an easy firewall for Mountain Lion server? Im amazed Apple took this feature away. For what reason? I dont know command line very well and shouldnt have to learn it seeing as how Macs are supposed to be "user friendly". Doing a port scan I see about 20 ports open that I want to close but just dont know how as they're not application specifc (like pop3...). Any suggestions would be helpful.
    thanks.

I totally agree with you, the whole point of OS X was to be easy to use i.e. GUI based, if we wanted a pure CLI system we would get Linux
There are actually two different Firewalls on Mountain Lion Server, the 'standard' one you see in System Preferences which is an Application level firewall (ALF), and has extremely limited options but does have a GUI, and the CLI only one which is pfctl (Packet Filtering).
Note: ipfw is depreciated in Mountain Lion.
There is a third-party tool for configuring pfctl called IceFloor. Be careful though, I managed to screw up a system with it, as always make sure you have a backup before making changes.
    See http://www.hanynet.com/icefloor/

  • Ever since i downloaded OSX Mountain Lion, Express VPN no longer works properly for me. Even though it says I am connected, webpages refuse to load. However, everything works fine when its turned off. I cannot go on many websites without the VPN.

Ever since i downloaded OSX Mountain Lion, Express VPN no longer works properly for me. Even though it says I am connected, webpages refuse to load. However, connection speed is fine when its turned off. I cannot go on many websites without the VPN. My current location is Shanghai, China. OSX Mountain was installed this morning and everything worked fine until then. Is Express VPN not supported? What do i need to do in order to get it working again on my Macbook Pro (early 2011). I want to be able to go on websites such as Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, ect...

    Hi,
I am having the same issue listed above on my new Mac Mini i just bought, I also contacted Express VPN support and got the same instructions with exception of the command to run in the utilities terminal.  I tried the steps listed, and both commands (posted here, and sent to me directly by Express VPN support), and still unable to connect on my Mac Mini running OS X 10.8.2, but I am able to connect on my iPad and my MacBook which is running Mac OS X 10.6.8.  Usually Express VPN is spot on with their customer support, but this is taking longer to get resolved.  Here is the steps sent to me
Try doing the following to see if the problem gets resolved:
Please follow the instructions here: https://www.expressvpn.org/support/setting_dns_servers_mac_os
(should still be the same for Lion) and then add the following DNS servers: 8.8.8.8 & 208.67.222.220. After adding the DNS servers, please do the following steps as well:
Note: If you're connecting to your ISP via a PPPoE connection, then set the DNS servers on the PPPoE connection itself and then restart your computer for the DNS settings to take effect.
    1. Click on Applications
    2. Click on Utilities
    3. Click on Terminal
    4. Type the following command (without the quotes): "sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder"
    5. Press enter and then try reconnecting to the VPN.
If you're still unable to connect, please send us in the latest log files.
Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.

I participated in getting the free download of Mountain Lion for new Mac owners. It took me three days to finally get a code to do it and when I tried downloading it, the estimated time was 74 days 17 hours. Now an error occurred. What do I do? I am very frustrated and just want the great software to download in a resonalbe time!

Take your Mac to a location with a fast, relaible Internet connection that will be all yours during the duration of the download.
If you want to complain, PLEASE call Apple and do so.
Internet only downloads of OS X is completely stupid, it assumes everyone has reliable Internet everywhere and /or no data caps.

  • I just downloaded the newest update for mountain lion. After downloading and restarting for installation, I got a message stating that  the update cannot be installed due to an error. Yet when I check I have version 10..8.3 and safari version

I just downloaded the newest update for mountain lion. After downloading any restarting for installation, I got a message stating that the update cannot be installed due to an error. Yet when I check I have version 10..8.3 and safari version 6.0.3, which the update was for.  Does this mean that the update is iinstalled and the message was incorrect?

Good timing! Oh well, at least you shouldn't have to update again for a while. It will be nice kickstarting your Mac with the very latest System Update knowing any hiccups from 10.8.2 would have been ironed out if they were going to affect your workflow at all.
    Cheers and Happy Computing
